WARNING: INSANE Macro shots inside! :D Today we discuss hot topics, like: What's next after Rolexes / Buying available watches vs what you really want / Reviewing ultimately the beautiful Grand Seiko Shunbun SBGA413. Enjoy!
what I love about GRAND SEIKO is no hoops to jump through , walk in try on buy simple , I bought the 007 omiwatari and have just bought the 9 row bracelet from 013 , very cool watch indeed
Congrats on the pickup, and great choice! The pale pink is often washed out in person, so it was great to see you pair with more pink to get the dial to really POP. Keep up the outstanding content Sir!
I bought the Grand Seiko Shunbun a month ago, and I can't stop looking at it. I don't care if it will retain its value. I'm going to wear it and enjoy it for years. It's a push-pull crown, not screw down.
It is a screw down, I own one, you wouldn’t get 100 m water resistance if it was a push pull crown. You have to push the crown in slightly to get it to start.
Apart from the timepiece being art , the real art here is your presentation of this video. You are going from strength to strength. Your videos are better than the actual commercials of the brand which is saying it all.
This is by far the best B-Roll and camera work I have seen on a Watch focussed RU-vid channel. Also applause for the background score. Excellent editing as well.
Absolutely love GS, I owned the shunbun and the Skyflake but moved them on to better homes. If my lifestyle/work/daily attire were different they'd have stayed and been my favorite watches.
You may have outdone yourself with this video - incredible! As for the watch, this Grand Seiko is about as close to perfection as a watch can get, really. I particularly love how you found your way into this watch through your heart instead of just your head. Well done indeed!
I guess we have similar taste because once again I can say I understand why you like a particular watch so much. It's a splendid piece of design, to say the least. So great.
This video presentation is absolutely brilliant! I couldn’t agree more with the your reasoning for experimenting with watches such as Grand Seiko to see if they suit your tastes. The GS you featured is mesmerizing! Thank you for addressing the resale value argument that we so often hear in the watch community. Buy watches for the pure and simple enjoyment value. I appreciate the quality of the lighting and videography in your videos and yes, I would definitely consider wearing a pink dial GS after seeing this stunning dial!
WOW, I own 2 Grand Seikos, and cant pull off 40mm dress watch, ones I own are 37.5 mm JDM models, I have managed to get some great macro shots, but I have never seen such quality macros as yours, it was enchanting to look at that perfect dial, the hands so well finished, the dial texture more interesting than the snowflake. incredible video, thanks and wear in good health!
Thank you very much! and enjoy your beautiful GS's! :) I have to admit I got a genuine Canon macro lens for this specific watch, I wanted to capture EVERYTHING! :D cheers!
Congrats on the Spring! I 100% agree with you, sometimes we let others influence our decisions and we buy watches by committee. At the end, the heart wants what the heart wants.
Sat in the AD with the shunbun and the taisetsu interchanging on my wrist.. i made a choice and the winter left with me. The pink was just a bit too much effort to look at, whilst the winter captured me immediately and I was drawn in. I recently switched out the titanium bracelet with a yellow/beige leather strap, complimented by the gold GS makes it stand out! Loving it ! If the shunbun works for you then you’re luckier than I. Another excellent video
Congratulations, Solid purchase! Either way, they are both solid! The winter version has an advantage of matching easily leather straps. Where the pale pink one...
Thanks for the interesting video. I’m enchanted by the elegant quirkiness of your watch. All the elements combine beautifully and cohesively. I have the Grand Seiko Spring Drive chronograph (SBGC001) and I just marvel at how much of an engineering masterpiece the movement is. God bless.
Yes, pillow amplification! Always wondered about the acoustics with that! Great review of the Shunbun - as ever immaculately shot and edited, but also very interesting design analysis and discussion of aesthetics. As befits a stunning, detailed watch. A watch I did own (not my first GS), but sold because I found the pink too ephemeral in dull (British!) light. In such light, the watch just existed in its rather cold, silvery state which I didn't love. A shame, because the pink shade, tone and saturation is perfect, but very light dependent.
Haha, yes, it's perfect for sleep from this pov, excepting for the lack of lume. As for the light, Agree, 100% dependable to light.I wish it was a less reflective pale pink tone. Cheers!
Such an amazing pick. Congrats on this inspired purchase. Very subtle pink. Personally, the White Birch is my pick, but this model is sublime. Excellent video production 😊🎉
Amazing. I bought the sbgp017 (sea of clouds quartz) for my 30th this year as my first luxury watch. Yes, it's a quartz, and its amazing. The light blue dial and the blue seconds hand are second to none. I'll definitely be saving up for a spring drive in the coming years.
Great choice of a watch. The sea of clouds is a gorgeous watch. Same dial as the sbga413, only light blue. Used shunbuns are reasonably priced now. Great looking watch. The case and dial are special.
It's a nice pink, and i agree with colors being fun. But I usually enjoy a black and white photo more, when you mute the colors you can focus on form better I feel. Hence I mainly like watches with less color, and they are also of course much more versatile, and I don't believe in a large collection. But if I ever want to experience a nicely colored dial, I'd definitely have GS in mind, loved the peacock themed GMT, and the blue Omiwatari was amazing as well. The blood red SBGH269G is another one that's on my grail list. Great video again, thanks for the quality content!
haha, you just described GS's best dials available on the market. all of them are hyped :) As for the black dials, I understand your point of view. usually back as contrast reveals better shapes and accents. Thank you very much :)
Oof. That dial is.....stunning........good macros dude, really make it sing! I have been banging on about Grand Seiko to anyone that will listen for about 15 years now, Im lucky enough to have 2 in my collection
Your new watch is gorgeous, the dial is beautiful and you raise a lot of good plus points. I will get a GS myself at some point. Great channel, always enjoyable thank you, watching it on my phone for once (instead of tv) so finally subscribed :-) PS- hey just noticed you’re from Romania - we holiday there from the UK and stay in Bran just outside Brasov, it’s a truly beautiful country, will hopefully be back soon (and do the Transfagarasan again) :-)
Thanks for the review! Feels like this is to GS what the Speedy is to Omega - their timeless classic! I'm off to Japan next year and I've decided this is the one to go for after studying the line all the way to the SLGA009 and SBGE285. Bring on the Shunbun!
It's very very beautiful. Absolute art. I personally am more attracted to the SLGA009 White Birch (can't get enough of a gorgeous white dial). Phenomenal macro shots!!
Really a gorgeous watch. Feels wonderful on the wrist. Not really much of a pink dial. Most of the time kind of silvery, then you see that pink blush❤ I took some nice pics last spring with the shunbun against my mt. Fuji cherry tree blossom. Perfect timing for a photo shoot.
as always smashed it love the video andrei ! u made me like GS more. ps u should look into casio MTP-B145G line i think they are the perfect alternative to prx 35mm
Funny, you’re the first person to mention the pillow amplifying the sound of the watch😄 i have an old mechanical Omega, that is really loud when your arm is under the pillow. Great video, thank you!
There is something very special about Japanese people. Whatever they make, they make it with utmost care, passion and love and the technological superiority they possess is unmatched. Whether its electronics, automobile or watches. Casio, citizen and Seiko are not as famous or even legendary as Rolex, AP and other brands but their technology can never be matched.
I bought a G.S. spring drive chronograph G.M.T. and I adore it. The engineering and finish is exemplary, 50 jewels is insane. I'm planning a quarts G.S. for everyday wear but the problem is my Casio lineage which to my eyes is absolutely gorgeous, sapphire crystal over a beautiful dial and markers., full titanium and radio frequency so never out of time and never off my wrist.👍🏴
Very awesome video. Super tempted, just not sure if the pink works everyday. Could definitely see the legibility concern too. Next to a snowflake this just seems much more exciting to look at but cant proove it.
This is a nice watch for sure, but for me the SBGA211 Snowflake was the one to buy as the snow pattern and texture just works so well against the polished titanium case. When the sun shines on the dial it absolutely pops. Plus the Snowflake is the classic GS watch and i think it will always be their most notable dial.
I think the shunbun has closed the gap on the snowflake a bit. My favorite that I've owned was the Skylake with a GS bracelet added on. Beautiful watch, stunning.
I have the shunbun. Gorgeous dial and case. Special watch. Sitting in the same box is a Seiko sje073. Stunning dial , and watch. The dial under a maco lense is something else. Worth adding to a collection if you can find for a good price.
I'm also the lucky owner of this SBGA413 Cherry Blossom masterpiece. The bracelet has no micro adjustment so I changed it to a dark blue leather strap. It wears very light on my 8" wrist. The watch impresses me every time I wear it.
You have taken similar journey to my own then. I chased the Rolex OP41 and Daytona (wanted it for so many years), and now that I have them, and I love them, they do not connect with me the way my GS Snowflake or even my SBGH291 titanium divers watches do. And now, the majority of my future desired watches seem to be from the GS collection. Life is good when you acquire things that truly pleases you.
I want desperately to own a Grand Seiko spring drive, but it is unlikely to happen as I spend my money trying to help other people instead. This has bought me more than a watch. It has bought me joy and fulfilment.
My beautiful GS shun bun cherry blossom wedding watch, and now I swapped the bracelet with a nice bespoke leather blue strap much smarter and comfortable 🤩
I saw this watch and it looks beautiful. the pale pink intensifies to a somewhat light pink when sunlight hits on it, making other watch people notice it.
Great watch, bought it the day it was released in the UK. Complaints? Would like it to show pink more often and the bracelet could be improved. But that dial and movement👌
Very good video, I love the video as same as the watch. It made me struggle to buy the watch. Would you mind to consider to make a video for SBGR305? SBGR305 is my next target watch to purchase.
There is nothing to argue about the decission of a man. I love GS and I would buy only for the reson of it's dials. But it is also because of their dials why I don't buy them. They put so much effort and hand craft to manufacture the perfect dials. And after finishing they punsh out a huge hole into the perfect dial, only to show us how much power reserve it has. And even in a very unsymetric way, which destroys the whole visual balance of the dial. But it is only my opinion. You asked for 😊. Never the less it is an awesome watch and looks great with a white shirt.
Haha, true words! In general I like the power reserve trimming. But In this case, the dial should had been left clar. The pattern was enough. Thank you for your thoughts :)
Same goes for me...I just can't comprehend GS's thinking in doing that... to me it's like visiting the Rijksmuseum and drawing an emoji on a Rembrandt.
i'm on the fence with so many GS. I love this model but the green ceramic bezel GMT is really eye catching in person. It has that striking appearance like when you see a meteorite Rolex. And the Hi-Beat Peacock also has the same effect. I wish we could get the dial like on the dressier GS but with the ceramic bezels and less polished cases for a more durable daily wear.
That is a stunningly beautiful watch, congratulations 👍. I wish it didn't have date and power reserve as they detract from the dial. I would take that over a Rolex any day (but maybe not the pink dial).
A very beautiful and unique watch with the best automatic movement in the world of watches! You have a 6000 Euro watch with a lot of details in perfect finish in Patek quality ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
beautiful video. awesome watch. I have one too. Time to pull it from the safe get some wrist time again. indeed there is life after Rolex and explore the plethora of other brands that stimulate the senses.
Congratulations...beautiful watch! Beautiful images! And beautiful scenery from Frankfurt, my hometown! I work a 2 minute footwalk away from that shot of the blossoming trees. What have u been up to in Frankfurt :) All the best
Hi, wow I wasn't aware they are from Frankfurt. The architecture combined with the blossom trees, looked like a Japanese town than EU :) Those are images from a stock photo library. All the best, Andrei
Bought a GS Automatic GMT - lovely elegant watch , beautifully made. Ordered from Japan and arrived well packaged and very quickly. Would definitely recommend over a Rolex.
My entry into the luxury watch market, I started the the number 1 brand, based on recognition. Walked into a Rolex AD, and waled out with nothing but a waiting list. Did some more research, and learned about Grand Seiko. Walked into their local AD, and walked out with the SBGA415. I would of bought a 413 if the second hand was Red. GS missed a home run if it had the Red second hand.
Looks like a fine choice but then again I don't feel there are any bad ones. Love the high levels of finishing and value due to quality...GS is making Seiko look bad what with questionable and inconsistent accuracy.
@@jamied931the bracelets are lovely, it’s only the lack of micro adjustment that holds them back. And that’s something you can say about Omega too, tbh.
The Shunbun is a nice watch. I get a totally relaxed feeling when I wear this watch in public daily, compared to my pretty little 118206. I may have found a new best friend.
Only got into watch collecting recently. What I personally look for is a nice design with a durable and accurate movement. Will never afford a Grand Seiko but appreciate it's design compared to that of the garish colours Rolex have been using on their watches recently.
Agreed. I'll likely never go into a Rolex (overhyped) nor a GS either. In an age where microbrands provide superb quality, features like Sapphire Crystal (hello... Seiko), high beat movements, ceramic bezels, 300WR, etc... I truly don't see the point. I refuse to follow the hype that one must go higher up the price bracket, to insane levels just to 'enjoy high horology'. Yet we all know deep within that the intrinsic value of a watch is; to tell time. If I want to have a watch that is more accurate than a COSC certified Rolex or any other, I'd go for the Casio Royale. -/+ 30 secs per month - for only 30 bucks... World time even, more zones than Any GMT. More expensive watches don't tell Better time... N Great watches needn't have to come... With even Greater price tags, Period.
@andromedagodit2492 yeah my main watch is currently the Casio G-Shock GM-2100C-5AER tells the time perfectly while being stylish and durable. Would like to get something from a micro brand the only thing is they seem to be difficult to find consistent reviews on.
