There's a point where it tips There's a point where it breaks There's a point where it bends And a point we just can’t take anymore There's a line that we’ll cross And there’s no return There's a time and a place No bridges left to burn anymore
We can't just wait With lives at stake Until they think we're ready Our enemies are gathering The storm is growing deadly Now it's time to say goodbye To the things we loved And the innocence of youth How the time seemed to fly From our carefree lives And the solitude and peace we always knew
The sad part is that both Ruby and Jaune were the most positive ppl we see in general at the start of the show. Now they are both broken and clearly need ppl to talk to, family or friends.
Atleast Ruby has a support Group she can fall back on if she chose to jaune been along since volume 4 We really haven't seen any scenes where ren and nora really are there for him But we have seen scenes where he trains himself to exhaustion Is with videos of pyrrya encouraging him Think about it he didn't get into beacon Like everyone else His skill level is nowhere near where it needs to be To be able to keep up with his team And the only person who ever truly believed in him is dead
This episode showcased something that's very real: that you can't shoulder everything alone. Jaune tried to do that to the Paper Pleasers, but didn't have the foresight to see what they really want. All in the pursuit of having some measure of saving people. Ruby has been shouldering a burden ever since the Fall of Beacon. And when her PTSD came to haunt her, she snapped. Bottom line is that I hope these two manage to get better, but I think that's asking too much.
I wouldn't really call it a lack of foresight issue. Jaune's basically gone mad over the years from guilt and solitude, and started projecting his lost friends onto random strangers so he could make a routine of saving them. Keep busy, don't think about what happened. Try to paint over the past with the successes here. Gotta be the great hero, because otherwise he'll have to confront the truth that he's a helpless loser of a man who didn't deserve the trust people put in him. The tree is bad! Literally everything in this alien land is just programmed to like this situation that's clearly actually horrible! The whole world is crazy, not him! He's finally saving people, the hero he wished he was. And clinging to that fragile role was more important to him than even finding a way out of this mess back to his real friends. Our duo of inexperienced yet overburdened leaders really could use some therapy but I doubt they have therapists in the Ever After.
Not PTSD she will be able to fight again. I don't want people with PSTD to lose disability or be forced to freeze up and die in combat again, or shot as cowards, because the public thinks people with PSTD can recover and fight because term is used wrongly with people suffering Trauma and temporary treatable mental problems in fiction.
@@natchu96 Or in remnant seams to be no therapy available. Although this hits old experienced leaders just as hard the failure to have vacation and time off crushes them. It's not actually a maturity issue. Now Ruby a good team leader from the start was way out of her depth with Axis doing a role that should be only done by someone with 8 to 10 years more schooling and training. Although considering Ironwood a lot of that training unavailable or he did not pay attention during the diplomacy, illegal orders, political dynamics, civic, and public relations portions as his base want to be dictator nature ignored it. (military strategy and tactics are Star Wars level bad which is horrible clearly that training does not exist)
This is kind of like in FMA when the Elric boys were put on the island. They can either come out of this place as true Huntsman and Huntress, or they can die as a hollowed out shell of who they were. That seems to be the choice the world wants them to make: who am I? And if they’re not careful, they can end up as someone, or something else; the cat said so.
It happened to everyone. Luz Noceda, Steven Universe, Anne Boonchuy, Star Butterfly, Optimus Prime, Peter Parker, Bruce Wayne, Puss in Boots… all of them. But they all had friends and allies to help them regain themselves… Ruby needs that. 😢😢
It builds and breaks a person. Nothing made until it's broken..... unfortunately the writing department insists on breaking characters for drama, then making them seem childish by not teaching them to learn from said trauma
I know, first Steven universe, then sayaka miki, then luz noceda, then Luke skywalker, and finally ruby, I tell you nothing hurts more then seeing a optimistic and hopeful character just lose faith like that.
This usually what happens to the heart/joker of any social group. You burn, burn bright to keep it all working, keeping the anxiety inside. And then, one day, you break the habit.
That was my point when I saw this scène: Ruby as always been here for everyone on the team. And when they got lost, there was Always someone else to pick them up: Tai for Yang, Klein for Weiss or Sun for Blake. When it was Ruby's turn to endure, because of the loss of Penny and her plans never fully working since the Leo betrail, her team still had bigger problem to sort than Truly Caring for Ruby. Also, I remarked that Ruby use a very similar form of sarcasm as Qrow when things goes wrong. I don't know if it's intended, but if it is it's quite clever ^^
True, they all had someone to help them over their stuff, but when it was Ruby’s turn there was always something bigger going on and there was no time for her, everyone just thought “she’ll be fine”
@@jordanrichardson2367 I've already posted something along the line of this Somewhere else. Maybe it's the one you Saw ? Thanks for saying that anyway, but I guess if the guy don't have imagination well I don't really care about what he's doing X)
People are saying her team ignored her, but that's only partially true. Ruby has always been a beacon of light and hope. She was the good in everyone around her, and she got used to being in that position. She didn't talk about how she felt, because she was supposed to be there for everyone else. So even if they did ask her if she was okay, she thought she had to be okay for them. So she would lie, tell them she was okay and not to worry. But now it's gotten to be too much and she exploded. It happens when you've got all your issues inside you, along with everything else you've taken to help others. Sometimes you just miss what's happening right in front of you, and that's kinda what happened with WBY. They didn't push because they couldn't see the cracks that were forming.
Mostly Yang since she didn't said anything. Jaune also had a right to explode after so many years in solitude and basically having team RWBY for a day back in his life threw away the only semblance of stability he had in the EverAfter.
Since volume 4 she’s been shouldering a lot, her teammates left her and she had to swallow it up and stay positive searching for a way to fix things, even after the trauma of watching two of her close friends die. Since then she’s only been adding more weight on her shoulders, now that she has lost Penny again, after having her back for a short time, and her plan to escape failed, she feels somewhat responsible. She has shown many times she wasn’t okay, not only this volume but in some of the previous ones too, but every time something bigger was at stake, and either she had to swallow and act like she was okay, or her friends shrug it off thinking “there’s no time for that, she’ll be fine”. Add to that that while being the youngest (apart from Oscar) she’s the one who always picked everyone up, and the one everyone asked to find a way to fix things. She is tired of people asking her for solutions, even more when she doesn’t have one. The line from episode 2 left pretty clear she wasn’t okay “Let’s stop pretending we know what we are doing”. In volume 4 while they were separated and they didn’t have to worry about saving the world, because they didn’t know about Salem, they all had someone to help them over their stuff: Yang had Tai, Weiss had Klein, Blake had Sun. But when it was Ruby’s turn there was always something bigger going on and there was no time for her, everyone just thought “she’ll be fine”. There’s just a point where it was too much, and now she isn’t precisely in the mood to cry over paper stars that wanted to die, or to cheer her sister for figuring out her feelings. Jaune is also not okay, he’s been alone for many years, and even if he had a lot of time to sort out his mind after Penny’s death and everything that happened, he couldn’t, and because of it he started losing his mind and had to find something he could protect to cope with the situation.
I had honestly wondered when she might finally break. She has been shouldering a lot since Beacon and has very obviously seemed on the verge of buckling under that pressure since the start of this season.
Jauane been in the same boat as ruby If you pay attention after volume three jaune constantly training to excasution And he still hasn't gotten good enough To match everyone else And the only person who ever truly believed in him Is dead Then he kills penny And then it's thirty years to have to stew with it and gets betrayed He has been suffering just as bad Honestly I could see the volume either having those two work their issues out together or Jaune dieing
@@spankme5142Even if Jaune dies I hope he and Ruby still have a heart to heart talk. I miss them being each other's support, they would understand each other the most if they would just talk
Ruby was already on the verge of breaking before the climax of Vol 8. With Ironwood going mad from the Salem revelation, Penny going haywire, and the city being invaded by Grimm, it's a wonder she didn't have a full on panic attack. Yang tried to be there for her, but we could tell her mind was more focused on Blake. Yang: "You think she's angry at me?" Jaune: "Ruby's your sister, you guys will be fine." Yang: "Right. Ruby..."
Ruby was born with silver eyes, and even though the rest of the team were born into roles, the fact is Ruby never had a choice but to be the “warrior of light”. That’s not a responsibility someone so young should take.
I was always in Monty's legacy camp, just not finding RWBY any good after he was gone. But this and volume eight. This is RT finding their own story in the world of Remnant. Now. Let's see what happens next.
I would disagree as they dragged the confrontation of Ruby's unresolved ptsd/trauma out longer than needed. This could have been done earlier in 1 episode where it's focused on team rwby and Ruby lets it out beforre exploding like here, it would be a character focused episode where the characters just talk things out.
@@RubyGalaxyYT this whole season seems to be completely character focused (basically 0 global plot progression), so they're dragging things out. It kinda works, though, somehow. Didn't expect it to work at all.
@@RubyGalaxyYT Trauma is correct word. PTSD is incurable and renders one unable to fight ever again. Trauma can be very major problem can even cause suicide but it can be recovered from. Ruby also suffering major Depression and anxiety.
At the end of season 3, when Beacon fell, Whis, Blake, and Yang all went back to their homes and took time to reflect. Ruby and the rest of JNPR went on with the mission of getting to Haven. Now it’s Jaune and Ruby’s turn to reflect
Ruby has seen a lot for how young she is. She’s seen her friends die, fought terrifying Grimm like the Nuckelavee and Hound, dealt with people trying to kill her, the trauma of her mother’s death and even became a wanted criminal. After all that, is it any wonder why she can’t take it anymore. At this pace, if she can’t control herself, she’s gonna end up killing someone and becoming the next Jason Todd
People are gonna say she went out of line with Yang and Blake, but when you're going through dark times, having ptd, etc, and you see somebody being as happy as hey, can be, that can affect you more than you realise, it didn't help when Ruby's sister of all people were oblivious to how Ruby been acting this season
Yang has been a shit sister for way more than these few episodes, any lash Ruby has towards her are far from being out of line. Blake existence being completely about how she feels about any given thing isn't even considered a collateral. The only thing she would've been out of line doing is lashing at Weiss, but she didn't really do that
@@wolfking4556 how has Yang been a bad sister, exactly? Because as a sibling myself, I think she's done way better that what most people would do. When their dad was distraught about both their mothers disappearing, she stepped up to take care of Ruby. She probably didn't get to have a normal childhood because she was focused on caring for Ruby. And then the one time she chooses to be selfish and do something for herself, she gets criticised by it by the one person she spent a large portion of life dedicated to. And if we're talking about Yang not checking in on her sister, Ruby has been brushing off everyone the entire time. I don't know if you've experienced a depressive episode, but that is so painfully familiar. It's what I do whenever I get into a depressive episode because you don't want to drag other people down. You don't want to feel like a burden. As the leader of RWBY and with all that's happened, I'm pretty sure all of that just made Ruby feel like she needs to shoulder it alone. And with Jaune clearly not okay, and Blake and Yang being forced to confront their feelings, I wouldn't be surprised if Ruby was feeling envious that she is not being granted the opportunity to feel supported. To feel less alone. Jaune got all of WBY to rush to support him and I'd image that made Ruby feel worse. Hell, from her perspective, even the Ever After thinks that Blake and Yang taking the next step was more important than how she was feeling considering what happened in the Punderstorm. And sure if Ruby just said earlier how she was feeling it would make things easier. But every time she was interrupted or there was just no time. I don't think it was bad that Yang stepped in front of Blake either. Whilst I'm sure Yang recognises that Ruby was venting and wasn't intentionally trying to hurt anyone, I doubt Blake would know that immediately. Especially given her relationship with Adam.
@@SkullCrusher-xk5wp Ever since volume 6 Yang has been so busy with Blake she's payed no attention to her sister (or Qrowe for that matter). There were a lot of instances of this. Basically 8/10 times something Bumblebee related happened it was somewhat detrimental towards the group and family dynamic or weird character writing for Yang to basically only give a shit about Blake. Hell in Volume 8 when they split up, shes more worried about if Blake is upset at her than Ruby or if Ruby is safe. Other people assumed she meant Ruby because that would make sense...but nope, Bumblebee.
@@SkullCrusher-xk5wp yang was very much great sister in volume 1 to 3. 4 and 5 are excused for obvious reasons. 6 and beyond? Mostly concerns herself with blake. Oz points out rwby struggles with hand to hand combat yang could have stepped up to continue that training which leads to consistent sister to sister bonding. Being a sister is not just about just about showing concern when things are bad. They don't even have any duo dynamics should blake and weise be pre occupied or absent. Imagine you and you sister are both fighters yet never ask yourself why don't we have sisterly combos when we're on the same team. Blake barely makes effort to socialize with ruby in a 1 on 1 situation. Weis never used be fully on board with ruby as a friend but assist her the most in duo combat style.
@@tigerfalco Don't get me wrong, I despise the Bumblebee fetish horseshit ship too. And I feel like Rooster Teeth just shoved that in there just to shut the dumb horny fans who masterbate on Blake and Yang up. Personally after everything our babies have been through Rooster Teeth should focus more on the story not cheap bullshit romances. As for Yang neglecting Ruby can you be more specific on why you think that?
I think what’s interesting is the past interactions with Blake vs now. They don’t really contradict. Blake admires Ruby’s as a leader. What Blake said during that discussion is following in Ruby’s steps. It just wasn’t the right time.
I'd wager this has been a long time coming. Since her mother died, Ruby has likely put on a smile and a happy façade for everyone around her. But one can only keep that up for so long 😟
It was an emotional break down. People might have them if they bottle it up too long. Actions after that are not sane it is a form of temporary insanity.
Given how from vol 4 RUBY has been the one picking people up, keeping them together, coming up with a plan? I'm not surprised that here she finally breaks.
This episode showcased something I think I've only seen infrequently. Coping over trauma. Where the individual will try to have a sense of control to hide the pain that happened to them in the past. Saving the Paper Pleaser and knowing how things will turn out if Jaune followed all the things needed to save them. At the same time he's not trying to move forward and keep going through the cycle of doing everything over and over again day in and day out thinking that he did something good.
I love how Ruby finally start to say something about herself, without saying about responsabilitys, just about her and how she feels. She made mistakes, but the others always put weigth in her shoulders, without thinking how she would feel. The best part is she saying “Don’t do that. Just don’t” this show that Even knowing she is not rigth to say that things and “Give up” she really want to be corret this time. Only one time
She’s had the weight of the world on her shoulders for so, so long. Her spirit was always admirable, but we all have our breaking point. After everything that’s happened, it hurt really bad to see her finally snap. At the same time…I don’t blame her. Who can really? And her saying simply “Don’t do that.”…god that hit way too damn hard…
Well most of us have no breaking point. But way more think they have no breaking point but they do. No breaking point people are normally left out of stories they not good to keep the drama going and someone who can't break is so different from the norm others can't connect to the character. Roughly 20 percent of population can't be depressed even if sent to Nazi death camps even that did not break them which is major reason they lived as they were made trustees as they could work harder than the rest.
Its the way Blake looked up to Ruby and grew more hopeful and open, while Ruby grew more and more alone, because she's the hero, shes the idealist who never gives up But who's going to save the day for the hero?
This reminds me of Steven Universe We all have that happy, optimistic friend who is the emotional crutch of the group. But people have their breaking points especially when you are the one holding everyone together and ignoring your own emotional needs.
Ruby was carrying her whole team since volume 4. She got all this trauma a ptsd and remained positive, it makes sence she had a breakdown seeing how all of this happened and noone really checked on her mutch after the end of volume6.
Now she's only interested in getting Blake on her back, lol. This is why I stopped watching the show a long time ago. BB was a huge mistake. One that I hope sinks RWBY for good.
There's a point where it bends and a point we just can't take anymore. Ruby has now reached those points, along with the respective points where it tips and breaks.
Why do I feel like from the past following volumes, Yang lacked giving attention to her own sister, but to Blake instead? In times when Yang or Blake is in danger, they're the ones who were there for each other only. And when Yang fell first from the portal realm, Blake was the one affected the most and hugged her agressively afterwards when they meet in the ever after. It's like Yang or Ruby or both of them ignored the fact they were sisters and that their connection became distanced.
Yeah, that's kinda why I hate her (Yang). Er-well, I hate as much as I love her, she's always been like this sorta. I have always had a running suspicion that while the song Gold suggests she was there for Ruby, that was not the case, and instead, with Summer dead, Taiyang working and doing parenting with some help from Yang, Raven away acting as a deadbeat and Qrow being far away acting as a cynical uncle, Ruby was left all alone with her thoughts and Zwei to help her through it. actually my theory is only supported when I look at her interactions with her dog, and compare them to her interactions with everyone else, especially Yang.
I thought about that clip between Ruby and Blake in V8 and how Blake looks up to Ruby, only to have that person that inspired her to snap at her like that.
Blake hardly tried to interact and understand ruby throughout their team time. She has been the edgy one who mostly needed consoling but has never tried to socialize 1 on 1 with rwby even after joining the team aside from her confessing that she is inspired by ruby.
This showed something to real that it hurts, I think I feel more for Ruby but I do feel bad for both because I been there. U be strong and hold in everything for lift and help others until you reach bursting point. Ruby putted on a fake smile and listen to others to help they issue but ignored her own until ppl she cared died, plans fail over and over again, and others blaming her while she shouldered the burden, Jaune burst point confirmed that for her and they shock face when Ruby said "Shut.. Up..." showe it when Trauma or PTSD hits it breaks you hard
Probably not PTDS as that prevents one from fighting ever again. In reality yes she could have it and they would have to protect her as she would not be able to lead or fight ever again and put her in a home somewhere out of the show.
Ruby's breakdown actually makes more sense to me than Jaune's tbh. I'm generally the one exuding false positivity. People just use you and take advantage of you until you eventually snap. Then they recoil from you as you finally snap, as if you are the problem. That is typically because, once you have snapped, they no longer can use you. 😅
Jaune lashed out because Ruby said that all of the bonds he had made with the Paper Pleasers was "make believe" even though he had tried to guard them for at least a decade.
@@TheRockhound119 To die. Because he thinks that is what the Tree does. Remember that these were the beings that nursed him back to health after Alyx had poisoned him. He wanted to protect the people who had been his savior. Their purpose was to beautify the land, and then they decided that they should Ascend. How could Jaune, being as broken as he is, let them do this? The Ever After is a cruel place, and the lessons it teaches are incredibly harsh. Especially in this case.
@@HighPriestFuneral A small correction: She didn't say Jaune's bonds with the Paper Pleasers was "make believe"... She said that Jaune's friendship with the Paper Pleasers was "make believe". And even if it was extremely insensitive of Ruby saying this in that situation, this is the objective truth. "Afterians are all either too clever, too stupid or too crazy to trust." were Jaune's words in this episode. With this, it's clear that Jaune had any relationship (unilateral or not) but friendship with these beings. Trust, even if is just a little (since I understand that, anybody in Jaune's position, sharing the same mindset as his, couldn't just trust blindly in those citizens), is the basic of any friendship, and Jaune outright admitted that he didn't trust any of the Paper Pleasers. I don't intend to go into moral or ethical questions depicted in the episode, once it's something subjective, but the truth is that Jaune tried, for all of these years, project in the Paper Pleasers something he didn't have in the Ever After: friends (and that would explain why he named every citizen after his friends from Remnant). And these people were chosen, albeit unconsciously, because of their behavior of pleasing others. I don't think the pain of one negates the pain of the other. Both of them are hurting and they need healing. By the way, I didn't see a lot of people talking about one dialogue in particular, so I will talk about it here, since it fits the theme and was lingering on my mind. "I know you may not care about protecting this village, but you could at least help your friends when they're in danger." That just... Hit me so deep. I don't blame Jaune for being insensitive in this scene, I know he's under a lot of stress. But the simple fact of Jaune presuming that Ruby wasn't trying to overcome her ghosts and help her friends (and her sister with whom she lived since she was born) is just hurtful, is something that just belittles all the effort she's putting into doing what she can do.
Jaune. Man who. Lost his love. Killed his friend. Lost his other friends. Got lost in an alien world. Alone. For years. Man, who upon meeting said friends, gets dragged over the ground for choices he did not do go completely mad from grief. And you say, his breakdown makes no sense? And Ruby? The special Ruby, who got everybody's support and who starts to crumble when people have a lives beside her existence? Reality hurts. Jaune at least knows he is messed up and DOES something to fight his sorry state. Ruby, despite being surrounded by people who care about her, first bottles down everything and then explodes to said people's faces. Point of order. I don't think this is some sort of punishment, or a contest who had it worst. This is, really, a very, very well writen moment that build upon nine seasons of personal stories. Seeing parallels between characters and oneself is normal but comparing who had it worse is just not cool.
Ruby’s hurting, has been hurting, and no one has seemed to take notice or care until she reached her breaking point. I can’t really blame her for doing this.
Communication is a two way street. The others asked her previously if something was wrong and when she had the opportunity to speak up she said she was fine. They can’t force her to talk about her trauma
@@icegodsavior8885 better to press atleast once and have the conflict. Most leaders don't show their downs for the sake of those that follow them. Even so yang as older sister should atleast tell from her sister's habit of hiding her problems to call her at one side and have a serious talk. It's unfortunate the wrote crow not to intervine as much but he's one of the few that would call ruby aside tell what her plans are missing
The poor girl is feeling the blame for every loss. The enemy has targeted her, that is Never her fault. Standing up for what's right isn't wrong. You don't blame the target of evil people. She, however, isn't ready to be comforted or consoled yet. She Feels every loss as personal. She can't let her friends in, every attempt to comfort her makes her feel the pain fresh and raw. It breaks my heart to see her hurting and not be able to accept help. 💔
Why did Yang shield Blake like Ruby was going to do something to her? HELLO??? That’s your sister???? What??? On a completely different note, i’m glad *someone* finally told Blake to shut the fuck up
As much as I agree with this show being poorly written at times, I'd be GENUINELY surprised if people turn around and say Ruby is acting "out of character" or anything like that. People often forget trauma doesn't have to make sense -_-
Because people believe all leaders are infallible. Not saying to be emotional but atleast cut them the slack for job that seemingly absolve followers/ supporting team members from any criticism if they also deserve it
So, I know we all talk or joke about Yang being a bad sister, but... "I'll always have your back, sis" became ignoring an entire volume of her expressing trauma in any way that DOESN'T involve lashing out at all of them. Well congrats. You ignored the ticking time bomb, and now it's blowing up in your face. Edit: I feel the need to note, just in case it isn't obvious, this comment is a gross simplification for the sake of adding a bit of comedic levity to the comment. This entire situation is ultimately built off of several volumes, literally since the very first, of pent up emotions stemming from an outlook and philosophy that just isn't very healthy. There's a lot to unpack here, and just like everything else to do with mental health, nothing is black and white or clear cut. It's a complex thing, and solving it in any reasonable amount of time could take months of therapy from a trained professional that none of them qualify as. In fact, all of them are probably the least qualified for the role out of the entire cast, which is saying something because I'm including Salem, Cinder, and TYRIAN in that list as well. Ironically, the best one for the job would be Ren, and he ain't here, chief. So, yeah. Just wanted to clear that up, make sure everyone reading this has that understanding.
True, but ruby never expressed her feelings to her team directly. It’s one thing to ignore another person’s feelings but another to not express them. Ruby is valid in her vent/rant but it isn’t also fair to assume that the other members of team RWBY were ignoring her, again, Ruby never told them how she was doing or feeling throughout their time in the Ever After. Ruby should be able to express herself more freely around others without bottling up her emotions to the brink of breakdown and everyone else needs to learn to help others struggling. This whole volume is a huge therapy session for everyone, but especially for Ruby and Jaune. It feels as if the Ever After wants this to happen, like it already knows these characters and how to help them.
But she did though… she asked multiple times this volume of ruby is okay. And either something else came up or ruby just didn’t open up. Neither side is wrong or right
@@maRk-pi6wr even then, with how much time they've spent together they should have seen something affecting her. Just got back to every season, you see her facial reactions when they say they are behind her. They were self-absorbed in their own problems, selfishly going after what they wanted when all Ruby did was try to help everyone.
@@maRk-pi6wr I have to disagree. All the way back in episode 2 when she said “Stop pretend we know what we’re doing”, that in my opinion should have been a sign something was up with her. And they heard her, their expressions give it away. And I’m pretty sure she dropped another hint somewhere else for them. To be fair, yes, the others are wrapped up in their own “Drama”, but everything has been feeling a bit.....light since chapter 3. I don’t know, there’s a lot to unpack in this volume. I mean, it’s good, the smaller cast is nice, a more character driven story, but it’s just playing catch-up for the previous shortcomings..... Sorry, I’m off track. Point is, I think Ruby has made her feelings somewhat clear since the start, but her team is more focused on themselves than each other. Kinda feels like a backstab by them since they considered 17 to be “kids” back in volume 2, so unless they consider 19 to still be “kid”, then they are in a way, shit adults. Look I’m just mad they let the little rose burn ok? Lmao Sorry I’m incoherent. Nearly 3am and like I said, a lot to unpack
Ruby definitely never opened up all this time, but the others never dug any deeper either when she was clearly acting a bit off. Which is understandable for both sides to me, things kept coming up. They all had issues, world is ending, kingdoms were dying. And it's the leader's job to hold the team together in spite of it all, even when she clearly needs help badly and is screaming on the inside. At least, that's clearly how Ruby believed this leader gig worked. This time bomb has been ticking ever since they acknowledged her as a leader and started taking her seemingly unbreakable optimism for granted back at the academy. Nothing is truly unbreakable, she just held the pressure in so well that it took this long for the cracks to finally show, and all the positive thinking and reckless bravado in the world can't make up for the fact that she's been in way over her head all this time and really has no goddamned idea what she's doing despite being in charge. Honestly I can't blame anyone for this one, even well-intentioned trust and respect can become a curse given truly stressful circumstances. Ruby's never hit her limit when any other human being her age logically would've, so they stopped believing that she had a limit, all the while she's been a kid grasping at straws and forced to make decisions she's too green to make.
Double whammy’s of Jaune and Ruby suffering in their own ways. Both leaders are suffering badly but the silver lining for me is at least the rest of RWBY now realize the extent. They were too use to Ruby always being the voice of hope to realize her pain
You know, some people have said that Ruby snapping at the others is justified because they’ve been ignoring her when she needed emotional support. But I’ve started thinking that maybe Ruby’s been bottling up her emotions so much that Weiss, Blake, and Yang genuinely had no idea how much she was suffering internally until she finally exploded… I seem to recall the others asking Ruby if she was okay and her responding with “It’s alright” or “I’m fine” earlier in the Volume.
No, it wasn’t I’m fine, she tended to change the topic like the first episode, or walk off in the second episode, but there were signs, her looking down, not really talking much, and others. Yang asked her 4 times, the first one was brushed aside, the second didn’t fully, the third, brushed aside by Blake, the fourth interrupted. Weiss tried to talk to her about Penny, but not only was Ruby not willing and not ready to talk about it, but people have pointed out how Weiss unintentionally put pressure on Ruby, making her feel like she couldn’t open up to Weiss as she talked about Atlas, which while Weiss isn’t wrong for doing this, it should’ve been the other way around. It also didn’t help that Weiss snapped at her in episodes 5 and 7.
Ufff man, the part where Yang said ''I allwais got your back'' and then you see she puts in front of Blake as if Ruby were a Grimm or something. This is just heartbraking.
I'm surprised that they didn't show Pyrrha's death or Qrow poisoned. I'm trying not to add salt to injury. I thought that that's where her trauma would start. Honestly, Ruby is gonna lose her sanity in the next episode, judging from this Volume's intro. This episode was bringing me SUF vibes from when Steven was going through PTSD being what he saw himself as a monster. I hope in some way her guide helps her in the next episode in the bridge mindstorm we see in the intro
Not PTSD if Steven had the he would have never recovered as you can never fight again with that total permanent disability. Trauma, emotional scars, large number of other more accurate terms can be used. PTSD is unrecoverable trauma permanent brain changes only a minority can ever get PTSD.
@@jacobtherrien5419 It hinted with Ruby at mother's memorial but I now thing Red like Roses song totally true Ruby been broken from when her mother went away.
It wasn’t just because they ignored Ruby, or that she kept it all buried inside. It was also because of Jaune, and how they were so quick to address and comfort him, and while he’s had it about as bad as Ruby, if not worse, he was way out of line to blame her for what happened. Aside from her teammates, Jaune was arguably her closest confident as a fellow leader who’s been just as traumatized, and her first real friend at Beacon. Then he went and threw everything at her face when none of it was her fault. That was the final straw that broke the camel’s back.
I really hope this opened everyone’s eyes b/c for the longest time Ruby has carried the weight of the world on her shoulders and every time things look up they get much MUCH worse and it’s high time she got a win
Does she freaking forgotten that she's the one who really angry when Raven left her and had abandoning issues? SHE'S rejecting Ruby for a stupid blank/Blake now, hypocrite
Pure unthinking instinct. Ruby was acting dangerous I'm certain Yang would not have done that if she actually had a second to think after all Blake can handle herself.
Just play with the thought that Ruby will leave the Team (I think there is no chance that it will actually happen but whatever just go along with it) what will be the new Team name be? My vote is on Team WYB, pronounced as Team Vibe.
It finally dawned on one of them to actually say the words “are you ok?” Too little, too late. I’m dumbfounded how they could clearly see something is wrong, and not stop to ask that simple question. Especially since they’ve arrived in the Everafter. I’m 100% with Ruby on this one.
This is the "dealing with your shit" season, and I'm here for it. Especially with their willingness to "go there" with the tea scene. It's important to make sure everyone knows that there are limits to everyone's positivity, and there have to be outlets for those folks to feel seen, heard, and valid. Anyone whos read this comment, just hear me when I say that you are SO wonderful, and you mean so much more to the world than it may seem at times. Get the help you need, feel the things you feel, and keep building and moving forward.
I'm certain that Neo might be around and heard at least enough of Ruby's psychological and emotional breakdown here, possibly smirking to her malicious heart's content, but if it were Cinder instead of Neo right now... ...SHE would probably be ecstatic and laugh over it, all at Ruby's expense. 😠
The most ironic part about this is that Weiss has long since accepted Ruby as the team leader. Here, Ruby all but spells out that she can’t take the pressure anymore and she’s lost faith in her ability to lead her team…
Honestly , wouldnt be surprised if there would be a mention of suicide in the next episode like a hint of ruby trying the easy way out of it, its dark i know but an understandable reactiom seeing how distanced and disassociated she is as of now,
Your precious ball of sunshine and rainbows is evolving! … Congratulations: your precious ball of sunshine and rainbows has evolved into PTSD-ridden ball of resentment, self-destructive anger and despair!
They never should have let Ruby carry the burden of being a leader alone. She’s still just a kid. She was meant to be the leader of team RWBY not the leader of a rebellion against an unstoppable evil. And then Jaune and Yang have the audacity to blame her for when things go wrong? Ruby has every right to lash out. I hope they realize what they put her through. 😢
In defense of Oz I'm sure he intended for her to finish school first. Unfortunately the class on handling stress as the leader was next year. Not that everyone follows the class Army gave me mine ignored it and worked into a Ruby style breakdown myself in my 30's.
Every person will collapse when everything gets worse, they can't hold anything like it will go ok, she lost her mother, she lost a friend, she nearly lost another member of the family, even she nearly lost another friend, then she can't even trust the one who was with her, even she saw a man with silver eyes being a grimm, everything she see is something that is much to take in, and they tell her to still fight, bro she is not ok with all the pressure
no one was there to really help Ruby pick the pieces of her shattered self back together. She had to pick up those broken, sharp, hurtful memories on her own. Never had anyone help her clean the wound once it was done. A wound festering and old wounds resurfacing. Feeling abandoned by those that should care for her, never there for her even when she was there for them.
(Deeper, I'm falling) Into the arms of sorrow (Blindly, descending) Into the arms of sorrow "There's a point where it breaks etc..." that's a cool song, but KSE's Arms of Sorrow fits Ruby perfectly. Slowly, surely and blindly, she's falling. And it's really sad to watch.
WBY is going after Ruby and Neo is going after her too. I can feel it. This is the perfect time for Neo to strike. But I feel like something’s gonna happen between Neo and Ruby where Neo ends up not killing her. Not really where WBY fights Neo, but where Ruby finally puts the pieces together and tells her that she didn’t kill Roman. The WBY vs. Neo fight might happen too, maybe. But otherwise, I think WBY will be able to tell Ruby that she doesn’t have to put a happy mask on, it’s OK to not feel OK, and that her team can help pick her up when she falls, just like how she helped them up when they fell.
Neo will take the chance as she has advantage to have Ruby over for some tea expecting to kill her at the end but things might change. It be real fun If Neo makes a Roman and Roman becomes real and tells Neo don't be mad at Ruby it was nothing personal. Then go into his recruit Ruby talk he was already doing back at the start.
So far this season has been doing a really good job of tackling a series of themes regarding trauma, pressure, grief, and the importance we put on purpose. The After-ens are familiar with this very mechanical and cyclical view of self fulfilment, they get a job, they do a job, they seek a new one. It's all played out for them it seems. But with our heros, it's an uphill, seemingly fruitless battle to pursue. Being a hero, a huntress/hunter, finding success and fulfilment I'm that and also finding worth in it. And contrasting all of that with this stage setting of simple roles to be played by everyone else really hammers in the failure of Ruby and Jaune (at least in their eyes). This is all conjecture but I wanted to get my thoughts out.
