@@EddieFonzarelli I actually tired this and although it worked for a little bit, it caused screen artifacts on LG C9 and RTX 4090 and had me worried my GPU was failing.. I removed the sync box and everything went back to normal. ALSO, you cannot select anything higher than 8bit color and YCbCr444 on limited.. cannot do RGB on full. I think the better solution would be to get a HDMI 2.1 splitter, though they are expensive, you can retain ALL features of VRR GSYNC RGB FULL HDR while also having any light sync box attached.
Question. Will this work with my setup? I use my ps5 thru elgato 4k60 mk2 in my pc but my g5 samsung odyssey running at 1440p at 120fps. So 4k is not a huge necessity for me.
Yea they have 2 it only comes in one size also so by the time they release the bigger version for tvs they should be in the safe zone but if they keep it at 4k 60 no 2.1 they might miss there window there so many sync boxes now and Lytmi got that crown for now but govee got the all around experience with everything else desk wall lamps etc
This is sweeeet for people like me that have a Ultrawide monitor as well as nobody does videos for sync boxes and ultrawides all i see is videos talking about it saying it wont fit on a ultrawide correctly or that the back is to rough ik for a fact now itll fot perfectly on my Acer Predator x34p So thank you cool video been wanting 1 ordering 1 right now literally haha cant wait!! Also, How many Additional lights can i add to just the AI Sync box alone besides the light strip & 2 light bars it comes with?? Is it all done threw the app or the Sync Box itself??
Well, this kit is technically being aimed at PC gaming monitors (which are usually more Hz focused). So it’s not exactly apples to apples. But I most certainly would’ve loved to see 2.1 regardless. I actually have Lytmi’s new box in hand for testing.
@@zergslayer69 CORRECT, NO VRR or GSYNC.. also, I just got the NEO3 (Fantasy 3) and it is trash imo, it CANNOT do 4k 120hz even though it is advertised to be able to on my LG C9 with RTX 4090. It also has issues with HDR and it will also limit color depth and output color format. Trash unit with terrible customer service (sent them an email a week ago and no response). I WOULD AVOID LYTMI like the PLAUGE.
How have you managed to connect it to your 49" G9 Samsung. I've spent all day trying to get it to connect - mine either doesn't detect the connection or if I use another cable - it does detect but gives me a stretched image. Do I take it this sync box is NOT compatible with 32x9 49" monitors?
Hi there, my monitor is actually by LG (LG 49WL95C-W Ultrawide). It is indeed a 49” monitor with a 32:9 aspect ratio. Are you using the included HDMI 2.0 cables (2.1 is not supported)? A lot of Ultra Wides have the ability to adjust aspect ratio within a monitor settings itself. Is it possible that that that setting needs to be adjusted for your monitor to prevent the stretched image? Also, what is your video source mac/PC) & what type of content are you attempting to use with the box?
Thank you for getting back so quickly! Here’s my setup and attempted solutions - Samsung G9 oled 49”, 5120x1440 - attempting to connect to PC - my own HDMI 2.1 didn’t detect at all - the provided hdmi cables didn’t detect at all - HDMI to micro HDMI did detect but couldn’t provide 5120x1440. Stretched image - tried DP to HDMI cable, detected but resolution not supported - tried on my 4K 16x9 BenQ monitor, worked flawlessly right away
Can anyone please shed some light I bought the T2 and I also purchased the RGBIC Light TV light bars I am having a hell of a time, trying to get these to sink and work together the T2 light strips work just fine I just cannot for the life of me figure out the settings on the light bars can someone shed some light on how to sync them together or what settings I should be using for the light bars under the Govee app I am super frustrated and about to return the Govee light bars. If I cannot figure this out because at this point they are just useless.
Also, I forgot to add this in there the T2 TV, light strips work and pick up the correct colors off of the TV and reflect that onto the wall behind my TV but the light bars the TV light bars have a completely different color pattern going on then the TV light strips do almost like the TV light bars are doing their own thing
I really don't understand how a product like this, targeted at PCs would, would not have any Displayport options. @MrTekSuggest would you be willing to do a follow up, testing out Displayport to HDMI converters/cables with the synchbox? I love my Govee products, but they certainly have their share of...questionable... decision making.
@@JosephHarry That assumes someone has an HDMI connection that _can_ go to the sync box. In my case, the graphics card has a single HDMI port, that is connected to a drawing monitor that only accepts HDMI. I would either be changing settings every time I wanted the lights, or only getting info from the second display. Or, I'm getting a conversion cable for something. This is a cool product, but seems like Govee is either cutting corners ( no displayport, no HDMI 2.1), or putting out a beta/proof-of-concept product. Considering the amount of outdoor lighting they offer that do not have waterproof plugs, I'd say cutting corners.
I just got the camera version today. I wish I was recommended this video first. Still the other one was only $80 for the G1 Pro... This seems like you could get an HDMI 2.1 splitter to bypass the listed limitations.
I bought one and proptly returned, sync box stops freesync working, limited to 100hz on an ultrawide 3440x1440, when using a second 1080p monitor resolution on main monitor gets stretched, such a cool product in theory, sadly no hdmi 2.1 or DP makes it not seem as targeted to PC gamers as they claim, shame as im a massive govee fan and have a load of their stuff.
You can use a DP or hdmi 2.X cable from your PC directly to your monitor for any resolution / refresh rate, then use a second hdmi cable from your PC to the Govee. A RU-vidr did this and it appears to work great :) Only caveat is that your graphics card would need to have at least 2 ports.
I can’t find any of these products anywhere any more did they discontinue them or something ? I can’t find the A.i box only for tv not for pc I can’t find the govee dream kit nothing !
Mr Tek, you’ve def help sell me on govee. I have this sync box couple Lyra and the ultra panels, but since this is more of a niche thing no one has this answer from what I’ve looked. Is there a way to use this box for music audio light display than just what’s on the screen? It is getting it from hdmi because you have that sound option where it still does the screen but pulses to the audio. But is it possible to take everything I have sync the audio through the box that’s connected to my pc rather than each items internal mic or my phone. I know they have a music sync, but it’s still just using a mic instead of input audio.
Bro, lytme is way ahead of the game. I pre ordered there 2.1 light kit thats coming out...way better then anything govee does...highly recommend lytme..
I wish people posted more topics about hooking receivers using streaming devices like my NVIDIA Shield and audio issues etc no one wants to talk about this just show color comparisons.
Im plugging in my ps5 to the box through its hdmi, and then plugging the box to the tv. how do i get the ps5 to display a output to the tv with the box
Dude I wish they would've told us the provided cables don't support high res/high refresh rates, just stumbled on your video and found out why my 2k 144hz monitor wasn't working as it should.
Question. Will this work with my setup? I use my ps5 thru elgato 4k60 mk2 in my pc but my g5 samsung odyssey running at 1440p at 120fps. So 4k is not a huge necessity for me.
I have a problem I have the govee model h6601 govee al gaming sync box kit. I did everything as it says in the description. hdmi in to computer and hdmi out to monitor the hdmi cable to the computer does not have to be connected to the graphics card hdmi point, but to that of the computer, right? I've tried all the HDMI ports on the computer, including those from the graphics card. Unfortunately, the video mode does not work, the lights always remain white in the mode. I use a 4k monitor, the Samsung odysee g8. would be very nice if someone maybe knows qas i'm doing wrong
When I had a 4k60 capable PC, no sync boxes supported it. Now I have a 4k120 capable computer... and no sync boxes support it. The Philips app was ok, but it only worked with PC (obviously) and often crashed. I need a sync box for sure, but I can't justify the cost if it can't handle whatever resolution/refresh the most demanding of my tech requires. I just can't win.
Thanks! I’m waiting for the tv model, but super interesting. Too bad it doesn’t work with the existing light strips from my T2 that’s already on my tv.
@@MrTekSuggest if you ever talk with Govee since the TV version isn’t out yet we should see if they can make the box work with our existing T1 or T2 light strips. Backwards compatibility would absolutely make me jump from my T2 to the new box on day one, and it’s a great precedent to set as people will feel more comfortable investing in a Govee ecosystem.
@@ContentHouseFilms From what it looks like, now that the TV version is out, the only difference is the length of the LED's. The model number of the box seems to be the same (I ordered the box, but not sure yet if I want it on the computer (28") or the tv (85"). Does the T2 LED strip use USB-C? If so, I don't see why it couldn't work.
These external boxes are useless until they can be used via output like eArc. No one wants to run devices through them. They are out of date with each increment to the HDMI standard. They don’t work alongside native tv apps. What we need is for the required visual data to be included in the eArc output alongside audio. Heck, even allow us to output the current display via one of the HDMI ports. That way they will be active for any content currently displaying to the screen I.e. internal app etc. That’s the solution that will actually work.
So we moved from hdmi to camera and back to hdmi again. Functionality it's the same just more expensive. This is a lose for consumers imho. They should have stuck to improving the camera based system - at least that won't be outdated by evolving hdmi standards.
Shame its not 4 hdmi in like philips hue and my hue box dose work for netflix and prime and pamamount plus so noidea why pepole on youtube say it dont work mine works fine strange. Good vid 👍😁
Awesome video. I had a question, I was wondering if I have the AI sync box would it be a good idea if I also get the Neon desk light around the entire desk? or just the front and sides of the desk?
I know you said you didn’t want to go into the specifics of the app walkthrough and get that but have one question for ya. I have the T2 camera setup that just came with the strip. Later on I bought the light sticks or whatever you call them to go on each side of my entertainment stand. Since I couldn’t plug them into the box directly I had to do that dream/ movie mode to add and sync them. However, it was super odd when you pick a corresponding number and it’s just blanks. No way of knowing if you were sending it to one stick or another. I hope I’m making sense? Lol and can you use the neon or nice strips on the back of the TV as well for this? I have one of those and the color is phenomenal
I just got it for $74.91 (with tax and shipping) without the bars, I didn't need them But seeing your comment is older, is it good? Did they add more games like fortnite?
I love the dual camera and I'm using it alongside the Philips Hue box but can I daisy chain the Philips Hue box into the AI box and use them both together I'm guessing yes because they're both carrying the right signals and I don't need 120 just 4K 60 however isn't there less beads of light on the sink box compared to the dual camera so it's darker instead of being as vibrant or is it just worth it to plug both boxes into each other versus having the camera because I don't mind the setup I have now it covers all the bases but I just want the most accuracy but also a good amount of brightness
Hey man, both the T2 and the AI TV sync box have the same 60 beads per meter. The T2 is a bit brighter for a video, though, and this is due to software. I know that Govee is currently working on a fix.
i assume the desk lights dont release for a few months yet? i see them listed in the app under add devices its h61C3 9ft and h61C2 5FT. also do the any of the "sync boxes" have a feature to take a signal from the tv when using apps? i didnt see any of that covered sorry if i missed that
The TV would have to support 2nd zone video output, and there are none on the market right now that I know of. I’ve heard of people installing Hyperion after jailbreaking their smart tv OS, and custom building a unit with an arduino and RGB LED strips. Otherwise, to get the same effect with built in streaming apps, you’ll need to use the T1 or T2 camera setups.
Oow this all very exciting honestly. I've been wanting to upgrade my govee set up for a bit but keep waiting for a bit and see what they do with it. I want to size up on a tv anyways so makes sense to see how the tv ones will be once they launch.
i love govee but this product has very strange specs. most people on monitors are using hdmi 2.1 or display port. i'd love to throw more money at govee and this has been a product i've long been waiting for to use with my pc setup, and i can't even use it because i'm using a 240hz 1440p monitor via displayport. either way great video and great information as usual. bummer govee launched this product already outdated for many PC and next gen console users.
If your GFX card has 2 ports, you should be able to use 2 cables, one directly to your monitor (for desired resolution/refresh rate/etc) and one to the Govee for the lighting.
If a secondary hdmy or dp cable is connected directly from the gpu to the monitor, govee will use the first cable only for the colours while the monitor will still run 4k 120fps. So yes, even if it does not have 2.1 hdmi it is still easily solved by just adding a second cable to the monitor. I do agree it is moronic they did not build in the latest hdmi standard nor have they added dp cable support since they are targeting gamers. My main gripes are that is almost 100e more expensive than lytmi box, which offers the same gunctionality plus has 2.1 hdmi and costs 33% less and that the alleged AI is not AI at all, it requires to manually program lighting effrcts for specific games and it is manually built instead of actually using AI to adapt to every content on screen automatically.
If I do the configuration you mentioned, is there any negative performance impact while gaming as there are two signals? or is it a very minor difference or none at all?
@YouBelongToOcean not that I know of, one signsl is telling the box what to display, nothing more, the other is the one used to siplay the image to the screen. I do not have the box, I saw 2 videos on ytube proving this, it was a review of the unit.
Thanks for the review!!!! Your content always keeps me posted with Govee products. However looks like I’ll be waiting as I prefer to play PS5 @ 4k 120hz. I still have the Gen 1 light bars & 1080p camera in the meantime….
@@macruz8503 I legit have both attached to the same TV. Both have advantages and disadvantages. I have the govee in all my other rooms so they sync with each other and have way more functionality... on the other hand the Lytme is more accurate but requires an HDMI switch which complicated the whole setup. So in the end, I just kept both. They Lytme for live action and the govee when I just want to show off
Hey I'm thinking of getting one of these I have a Phillips ambilight tv so I don't need the strip. What I want to do is have the 2 govee aura lamps that I have either side of the tv to react to whats being displayed aswell. I'm just wondering is it possible to plug in a Google tv stick and then sync the lights without running the strip or does it need the strip on aswell.
