For me, the thing that stands out the most is faker's humbleness. He has never flamed, has never tilted, has never made excuses for losses, and has never bragged to his opponents. He treated everyone like an equal opponent and never let his ego view others as inferiors. Its ironic that he's the face of league, league doesn't deserve him
I don't know about that lilbro, I treat him the same as streamers, most do not show most sht they talk in chat in their streams vs off stream. I think Faker know the consequences if he did toxic sht after becoming League's legend that he is, but before that? I don't know and probably not much people know if he tilted in chat with someone or if he was toxic. I would say that he is the most consistent guy(his mental too) in league e-sports scene, since we don't have any or little relates/reports at all of him being toxic or if he tilted on/off stage, I remember only once seeing him mad. I will agree that RIOT doesn't deserve him in general but I will/won't never put anyone in a pedestal thinking they are the perfect human being, there is no angels in this world.
@@caueferreira8159brother we aren’t putting faker on a pedestal. We are saying that 99% of league players are underground. You guys are a bunch of pos and its why i quit the game. Faker isnt a great person hes just a normal one and league players are below that. The community is the main reason why people dont want to play league. Its not the balance, the skill floor required or anything else. Lol has by far the worst community of any game ive played and its not close. Being toxic is one thing, being annoying asf and also toxic is so much worse.
@@caueferreira8159 He disagreed with daeny a lot, even being benched by him. But then again fuck daeny for that weird 10 man roster fiasco ruining 10 players' mental in his time xdd I would say he's pretty good rolemodel to say the least in terms of other athletes. no scandals(yet), frugal, doesn't drink, smoke, gamble and has a good work ethic.
@@coolstranger6773 He drinks tho, but not that big of an issue. On T1 RU-vid videos of him reuniting with his former teammates, they talked about drinking during their post-seasons, especially when Faker didn't qualify for Worlds. As resilient as he is, Faker also has a high alcohol tolerance.
they really are. There is no other player that is such a World icon like he is and has been. That's why its so upsetting that they are using him to make money.
@@Ramxhashira nah bro. He's already selling out the whole league industry by just playing. Like if i owned RIOT why would i hate the player who pulls views and merch.
@@clarkenvy9142 Yes but imagine Faker using skins, how many more Sales Riot wouldve made, its undeniable. But atleast he won worlds so much so they could sell T1 skins
Yepp, from 2013 to 2023 if it would be made a Series it would be insane to witness it week per week as a TV show. Making each Year a Season or maybe sequencing it into Arcs like Season 1 "Debut" only featuring 2013, because that would act as a Pilot Season introducing the "Team and the Protagonist". 2nd Season consists of 2014, 2015 and 2016, creating a shock at the start with the first loss and introduction of the Korea Curse, not being able to qualify in their own country, but having a huge turning point in the middle and prolonging of the highs with a win and a back to back win. Next season starts again with much anticipation, that ends in a loss at probably the highest point the Story had ever gotten up to that point and will continue to make the viewer feel the despair and sadness of not being able to win, yet coming so close everytime + continuation of Korea Curse, so it would feature 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 mostly focusing on all the sidestorys and sidecharacters/rivals that we got introduced to up to this point with it ending introducing the Main Cast for the last Arc/Season from 2022 up until 2023. It's really so easy to envision this as a series, because life has given us this absolutely amazing story that you could not write any better. Like many people already pointed out and the fact that this guy is in the Hall of Legends of a Computer Game that is played by millions and literally EVERYONE agrees with it that this "Hall of Legends" had to be made to give HIM and only HIM the first place in it, is enough said to show that his story really is of the same caliber as other Superstar athletes like Ronaldo/Messi, Tiger Woods, the big 3 in Tennis, the Formula 1 Legends, the Basketball Legends Michael and Kobe, Usain Bolt etc. There are definitely people who will downplay him cuz "it's only eSport", but to create such longevity, to have this path of a career and long for perfection, he has to have the same type of person in him as all of these other people I just mentioned. Tbh I have this thought a lot, but it's incredible that we were able to witness all these mindblowing people in the same Timeline from around 1990 up to today, I'm really thankful for that cuz these dudes are absolutely inspirational.
@@whiteflame7498 He can't going off Riot's requirements playing 5 consecutive years at a tier 1 league. Not sure how they'll count it, but Bengi at most played 4 years. So, unless he's given an exception or if they change it and I'm not missing something, he probably won't be in the hall of legends.
@@bruh-th5ftyeah probably a script, though if u watch the comms of t1 on that azir highlight, faker did mention something about looking for an angle during the action.
27:25 the fact this play was on the exact champ and exact player who took Fakers chance at worlds before, is absolutely iconic. This play was the deciding factor in their win overall. Absolute cinema
What's crazy is when they talk about Faker's "downfall", he was still getting to worlds finals and semi-finals regularly. That's how high a bar he set, in that anything but a championship win was 'underperforming'.
It cannot be overstated exactly how LUCKY League was to have this man as the GOAT. There is no face in the world who is synonymous with esports as Faker. It's very rare that you get to see an actual living legend in any sport or esport, because by the time most get their flowers they are dead. Only with someone so consistently great can you call them the GOAT while they're still active. Just the pure longevity of Faker's career and ability to stay at/near the very peak of the game makes it very very unlikely that anyone will ever surpass him. Is he the greatest mechanical player currently? No, of course not, but every single one of those players who IS in that discussion owe a great deal of their inspiration to Faker. He was the man who started with the insane mechanical plays in Korea. Before Faker, it was just about the strategy of the game and Koreans won because they were just most practiced. After Faker, the idea of being so mechanically skilled that you could legitimately 1v5 was a reality in pro play. EVERYONE had to learn to become insanely skilled mechanically just at a baseline to stay a pro, where that wasn't the case before. No one person has consistently gotten items changed, champions nerfed, entire game strategies disabled simply by innovating them as much as Faker. Someone may eventually match his titles, or his stat records (difficult, but still possible), but there will never be another Faker.
Honestly 22:05 cemented my respect for Faker even further. He must have wanted to win so bad and even then he just says "We did well" and, in spite of his own grief, immediately sets it aside to comfort Keria.
Imagine the amount of effort and perseverance for this icon to be respected by so many of his competitors Faker is, indeed, the GOAT of League of Legends
the thing I like so much about Faker is that behind the scence he is just as human as others. He's playful, he jokes, he cries, but at the end of the day, when it demands profesional, he is there
When faker look after the DRX match. That’s was when I knew he was a prime leader. DRX and T1 was peak leauge of legends. They need poomandu and piglet there but we all know what happen to piglet mate was not motivated. Yo khan is a joy
When Chinese fans attacked faker non stop , calling him slurs, attacking for not having a mom, faker still refused to give thumbs down to the camera when he beat 4 lpl teams in the 2023 worlds. He is the greatest not only bc of his skills , but also bc of his character
To be a legend like faker, you’d need the mental maturity to understand that angry fans getting emotional is everywhere in the world not just from china. I’m Chinese and he is absolutely my idol and inspiration. Just as there are haters out there, there are also a lot of people from China who love him.
You’re good at making things up. Faker is but welcomed and respected on Chinese mainstream. On the contrary, he was verbally assaulted so hard in his home country that T1 had to file lawsuit and that was a fact.
Watching this now, Wolf's final words gave me goosebumps knowing that T1 won the first-ever championship of EWC. Faker simply continuously do legendary things.
His ability to keep himself motivated is crazy. Everyone else has him to look up to and be motivated, but he needs to find it within himself to keep going
idk if most western fans realise, i am not fully sure myself, but after wolf became a streamer, theres a running joke between him and faker where hes acting like faker's biggest anti all the time, but its touching to see that in this documentary wolf dropped all that, and its touching to see jeesun wish faker a healthy life, i imagine being faker comes with a significant amount of physical and mental burdens, i hope someone can help him with them too, and honestly i hope that for everyone
9:12 I will never forget the Old Ryze i remember that i need to Slow Mo Faker's Plays of his Ryze to do this in my Solo Queue and The Reason that Climb me up from Silver to Platinum back in the day. GOOD DAYS 👍❤😅
don't look too much into this but i think since the LCK 2023 summer when he got flamed into oblivion for the team's failure (in faker's absence), he basicly left the media completely and didn't want to take part of anything related to LOL anymore
@@rebonrjar yeah I thought he was gonna take a break and be a T1 Academy coach or a behind the scenes employee I think he still is but I didn't expect him to completely shut out League, such a horrible way for "fans" to treat a legend
Man, 2022 Worlds - i still remember after the game ended, i just sat there for 10mins just thinking what the hell just happened lol with tears in my eyes. Been a faker fan since 2016 actually (after i saw his BIG escape on his Ori against ROX tigers - i was like who the hell is this man??? lol) and witnessing that 2022 upset after being THIS close to the title just made me cry lol. I can only imagine how the players must've felt. 2023 was our year though and hopefully 2024 will be no different and I am gonna be here for all of it (win or lose)!!! ♥
what i think is always so impressive to me aswell is, in how many finals they were. Ofc you don't win every final , every trophy. But to be able to get in so many finals , even when losing.. its just something else.
as much as i want gen g to achieve a golden road, after watching this, i want t1 to win more worlds and hopefully t1 will be the one who achieve golden road first. 😅
To be honest, as much as I want T1 to achieve it first, I want GenG to do it first. And GenG deserves it if they continue their winning streak. But either way, I will be so happy.
I have to agree 22:05 is the best. Immediately looking for his "younger siblings" after losing in a series that close and after many years trying. GOATed Doesn't even look sad, only worried. Holy
..I'm touch on the part where he cries and keria too.. yeah.. You may cry on the feeling that anyone wants to win but there was a time , on a blink of an eye we fall too. I'm not a professional gamer, I just play but sometimes I winning makes me smile. No matter you win or loose, be humble, kind and proud.
Imagine on april 1st next year, they announce the next inductee for the Hall of Legends... FAKER! again. Cause he is the obvious choice to follow up Faker.
As a Dota 2 player and a gamer in general, I love to see things like this. Riot/LoL is lucky to have such a person as the Icon of their game. I hope Dota or other E-sports start to have their own Hall of Fame. Imo, inductees should be fan voted, pro player voted, caster/analyst voted, and company picks.
you can really allow yourself to celebrate yourself! You are doing such a wonderful! Putting yourself in the spotlight without taking it down is beautiful and very brave! Much Love!
I'm not even a hardcore league fan. I play very irregularly, mostly chill ARAM these days. But this video made me tear up. Faker seems like such a powerful role model for the community and leader for his young teammates. I was a manager/leader in my work life for a few years, managing a team of young kids looking for a role model and leader. He does such a good job of inspiring confidence to those around him. His comment after losing worlds about looking to the younger players, making sure they were ok, and helping them refocus on next year and keep trying resonated with me hard. Very happy to see a man like him have so much success.
"I hope there are many other players that surpassed me in the future" This motivated me to play my Bronze promos, and now I'm Iron I again. I think my Jungler is hindering me from being inducted into the Hall of Legends next to Faker.
The documentary is sponsored by mercedes, and they gifted Faker a personalised Benz so they're not exactly random shots, but I agree that they feel completely out of place there
oh bro im getting goosebumps waching this again having been through a fair it of the journey is just so so special and faker is the biggest jewel in esports!!!
as a dota2 [;ayer the what takes to be a legend reminds me of the old dota2 trailer. I played league solely because of faker, dont play that much but whenever i do i play leblanc and nothing else XD
Faker: i hope someday someone will surpass me and fill the hall of legends completely Me: sir, that's a tough order the only one who come close was beryl & ruler the other already retired, there's also chovy but can he do it?
Chovy still has a long way to go before he qualifies for the HoL in my book. Dude's career basically just started compared to others. But give it several years and maybe he'll make it. He needs to win more internationals. Bengi, Beryl, Ruler and Deft look like good candidates
@@phanquan9470 I can't deny that 4700 HP, 329 armor, 201 MR champion👤 has unstoppable🚫, shield 🛡, wall🧱 hopping abilities. When its the first hall of famer but the player is still on the game. Always on finals appearance. The dream of one more never dies. GL to everyone trying to surpass or be compared to Faker.
whats crazy is that there is another e-sport that has a icon like faker, and its NES Tetris, players name is Jonas Neubauer. He is the reason the game has become so popular over the past few years. His career is also a really inspiring story.
It is simple really. There is not a another id other than hide on bush, that given the chance, anyone would be happy to see on any side of a soloque game
Faker saying the same thing as Ruler, was just *chef's kiss* . If it was just coincedence they both said that then it's mad, otherwise, Mad direction by Phil, for the whole thing
Faker's impact is nothing like I've ever seen. Not only in League alone, but he has been THE figure for other pro players to watch and learn from, it isn't just about winning and savoring victory, but it's about persistence and thriving for improvement.
27:24 I dont think people realize how GOATED this is, earlier Ruler said on his play he saw the angle so he took it, Faker then says the same, Bro, Faker gets his best line from his rival Ruler
