@@luciel3910 It's not that low actually. The time it requires you to build a nest, incubate it, wait until someone takes the eggs, keep your diets active during all this time and then wait until they reach 20% is a ton of time. If you have a 2 hour long gaming session/day, you won't be able to achieve this with any mid+ dino. A stego, diablo 20% is a lo t of time, and takes longer without a perfect diet.
I absolutely loved nesting in Legacy. I would log on only to grow a dino and nest. I adored raising a family, keeping them save, teaching them how to hunt etc. It was my biggest social aspect of the game and kept me logged on for hours just playing with the other players. What ruined nesting for me in Evrima: - Building a nest takes forever, sometimes up to an hour to even get the eggs to hatch and at that point I dont have the motivation to keep playing but logging off gets rid of the nest and all your work was worthless -You cant invite players or get invited. The chances of a player actually joining your nest are low and its more often than not hard to form a bond with this random player (this was also sometimes the case in Legacy ofc but it was way more rare for me to have non-chatty hatchlings in legacy) -Raising the hatchlings isnt fun as a carnivore because finding food as a carnivore isnt fun. In legacy you used to have a hunting experience (even if its not a great one) where you would use game mechanics like directional hearing to track down and kill prey and that was fun and reliable. In evrima it feels like scavenging, mindlessly running around hoping to run into the ai coincidentally since its completely untrackable for the most parts and finding it is just luck based
Also, legacy had global chat, so you could let others know there's eggs. I would often become a hatchling if there were eggs after I was killed. Also, on legacy, when your hunger got low as a carni, an ava would spawn near by. It still wasn't a guarantee of not starving to death, but they did save you often enough that you wouldn't rage quit for as long. So far, on evrima, I main the crocodile, because at least I can rely on fish. Since this new map, I quickly gave up being a herb, as I have never found any diet foods, only graze, and all other dinos it's KOS, or starve to death. At least with the croc, you can hide in the water and only have to worry about other crocs and so far, 70% of other croc players seem to be friendly so we can help each other take down everything else.
The reason I don't nest is because the moment I get to a migration place and try to nest, the migration changes. There's no place with consistent enough food to nest. Especially as a Diablo, since everyone is playing them, the food in their migration areas gets eaten up so quickly. If you're not there fast enough then it changes before you can even eat anything
Honestly you're right, Nesting when it was first released to Evrima on the old map was actually relatively popular at the start, but the nesting grounds went ignored because food was too far away from them for it to be worth it; They need to introduce nesting specific mutations and have food available outside of migration zones (in less quanitities then migration zones like the migration zones will always have all 3 diets so it's worth the risk to go to them) Regardless I rly hope nesting will make a comeback in popularity because i found it so fun to meet new friends trough it.
@@shareehocking6294 yeah.... I used to think it wasnt too bad, but it really is ridiculous... Then once it becomes intractable they buff the herbies, usually clumsily and in brokenish ways... which then they just use to justify return to rebuffing the carnivores... Its ridiculous. I mean, we have gotten some new mechanics of it, and it isnt all horrible... but its been 3 steps forward, 2.75 steps back the whole way... with an occasional 4 steps back >.> :I
Maybe it could be cool for each species to have nesting regions, zones that, while there is a nest and babies, all diets can spawn. I also feel like the nesting zones for herbies should be far from the hot spots, which could encourage carnies to leave where they normally dwell in order to hunt nesting herds. also just in general I'd like herbie diets to spawn outside of migration zones, maybe not a lot, but I don't think I've ever found food outside of a migration zone. also, what do you do once you're there? Eat and then just sit there waiting for the zone to change? I want to play herbie more, but it always ends up kind of boring unless I somehow encounter others that both, aren't trying to run around ganking other species, or are killing their own species for shits and giggles
I think nesting will start to (hopefully) pick up speed when others see that mutations also go to the babies, meaning the babies can have more mutations than the adults. However, food is incredibly difficult to get so far, which was easy to see as before we swapped to Gateway there used to be people that would nest. But this only worked because food could be found anywhere. We didnt have to travel a ton to find at least enough to just feed the babies. Even then it was still difficult but manageable, however in Gateway its almost impossible besides for the few dinos that can find food in the ground (like beipi with its crabs). I feel they need to change how food spawns if they want nesting to be used, as its simply too difficult to sustain the adults let alone the babies. The only thing ive actually been nested as is Beipi, and we were just on an island because the adult beipi could get crabs in the salt water and also had the mutation to allow them to drink saltwater, meaning we only needed to start traveling inland once we could no longer get fed by them. I even made it to adult with them, however, the only reason that worked was BECAUSE we could get food from around us. Without having to travel hours just to get a single bit of food.
Exactly, it's no way to sustain babies. I can't even sustain myself :( I've played The Isle for almost 3000 hours now, but for some reason I just CAN'T figure out Evrima since Gateway. No people, no food. I'm just wandering from migration spot to hotspot and back again with 0 diet. Hate it, cause I miss getting diets all the way up and then nesting with a huge herd of people!
I like to look at nesting as the final goal when you are 100% you just look for a mate. The amount of effort you got to put into this is soo high, constantly looking after your food your mate food babies food and the fact that some babies will eat on their own and some don't and actually keeping the babies in one group, makes it very stressful and hard
Not only is it food and time, but I feel like it's also because barely anyone even makes it to the point they're eligable to nest. Like, just about every time I've tried to grow a Utah, almost always a Carno comes in and kills me right before I become old enough to nest.
i tried my damnedest to nest with ptra and it was impossible to find anyone, and my game would crash every 30mins and id have to go sit in the que for 20mins
Im binging your videos after i found one. Your thoughts is exactly what i was thinking. Herbis only struggle with finding food should come from being hunted, not from lack of it on the ground. Food should be everywhere in MZ to encourage people to play Herbi, to move around the map to the MZ, and the gameplay should be trying to migrate and protect yourself and your herd. This would then enourage carnivores to also move with Herbis to find places to hunt. Right now the only way to play is stick at south plains cause thats where everyone is. If you go anywhere else youll starve or die of boredom.
The dynamic on the hoardtest servers is different than normal servers. There's no food in sanctuaries or migration zones for dibble just because of the amount of people playing the dibble. The zones change quickly because they eat all the food quickly. I've had no problem finding food in migration zones for bepi, gali, teno, etc. Sanctuaries are also a big pvp zone in those servers because the babies are having to defend their right to eat the mushrooms so naturally they tend to be avoided. Mutations are supposed to encourage nesting by granting extra benefits to the players who inherit them but I've only seen 1 stego nest and a carno nest so far. I think part of the problem is that the people nesting want the mutations for themselves. They have their mate kill them and then hatch into their own nest. They aren't concerned about the community while in a testing environment where they just want to experiment with the new features. Personally I would love to nest some bepis or galis to get some stronger lines with lots of mutations going, but I never encounter any others just because most players are trying the dibble. Hopefully that'll change when the actual update comes out.
hoping nesting will end up having something to do with becoming elder but i've thankfully been seeing a bit more nesting since the mutation mechanics came out. i hope it eventually becomes a common thing once the mutations and the system with the 9 extra inherited slots gets implemented
I loved nesting in legacy. It was my favourite thing to do, because there was just such a large social aspect to it. Along with that, I feel like there were very well designed spots which were great for nesting. Unlike evrima which just has bush and plains all in the same style. Nothing really unique. Obviously, that opinion is subjective, as legacy's map was the same. I dunno, to me it just doesn't feel the same. I feel like the main reason people don't nest is because food is just too far away. Migration zones are always moving, which means theres a chance you'll possibly starve to death in the location you're nesting at. At least in legacy, you had the chance to chill. I may be wrong for this but in evrima, it just feels like a deathmatch. In evrima I am constantly on the run, constantly having to travel and refill my diet. I hope they figure out a way to bring back nesting, because it used to be such a huge aspect for the original game.
I love nesting O..O although I haven't played for several months, the stamina issue discouraged me for some time. But as soon as Diablo comes out, I'll have to try it :3 But nesting a ptero with such a damaged stamina is unpleasant...
I dont know if this is intended but if you use G on the sanctuary mushrooms you can fill up your entire diet on one mushroom patch instead of looking for 7-9 at a time
The only thing I came up with is,nesting give’s u the ability to give urself adaptations(buffs like attack buffs cold resistance bleed resistance etc)and also tons of buffs and maybe new abilities for both parent and child
Mutations will change that, for the last few years there was absolutely no reason to nest. Also think they need to have more regional food spawning, migration chasing is atrocious for nesting
I do play on hordetesting yes :) I met some people who nest but I never got nested in lately. And I do not nest because I never find anyone to nest with and a good place to nest in
Im only 5ish mins into the video.... but, preach! XD MZ/herbie food was done SO stupidly on this map. People have been saying it. I give the devs at once a lot of credit at times and alot of shit at others.... This is one where they deserve to be crapped all over. They know this problem. EVERYONE has been agreeing and repeating about this problem. Theyve been told. They REFUSE to fix it because they are OBSESSED with trying to FORCE(I wonder if this comes from Dondi.... his personality/MO all day.....) people to do things by starving them if they do anything else(they still dont do what the devs want, both because the devs arent even good at setting up systems to force people, but also because its alot easier to encourage the majority of people into healthy directions, rather than trying to force people away from ALL the things you feel dont fit your vision.....>.> Yes, sometimes you do need to set some hard boundaries or implement specific mechanics to discourage specific problems and limitations of this being a game and not real life so that people dont abuse that fact to do things which hurt the game, be it by being unbalanced, or being immersion breakingly unrealistic) Ya know(Dev who chooses force first over incentives), emergent behaviors carry this game.... but thats another story/I digress.... The solution is both simple and EXACTLY what you said.... maybe theres a better system still than that, but until you figure that out, exactly what you described would fix 99% of everything, including the fact that like 85% of the player base doesnt even want to consider playing herbivore ever for this EXACT reasons
Devs wanted players to move, so they made migrations mechanics, which is basically a mark in your map/radar. That has to be the laziest idea ever, is literally a game telling you where to go, and this is wrong in so many levels I can't even believe that they though this was going to work. You need to make player think that he/she wants to go there, that is the way!
people complaining about the fact there is nothing to do in the game when you are fully grown, and also say that nesting has to much to take care of. it hurts my mind
I think a big problem is that 1. Nesting isn't rewarding nor fun at its current stake 2. Nesting takes forever and needs two people The "Takes forever" is an issue especially together with the "needs two people" part. You need to find a partner first of all which is difficult with the current chat system. And then It can take around and hour or more to build a nest and hatch the eggs and if anything happens at all, like the father dying or a game or server crashing, all the progress is gone. . And all that for what? Even if everything goes to plan, Nesting isn't fun at all the way it is right now. Players can't join your nest easily, communication with your hatchlings is difficult and getting them food as most carnivore species is a pain due to the lackluster and bugged ai system and the lack of an actual hunting experience.
Cause it is? With MZs bugged anyways it’s nearly impossible to get a perfect diet AND be able to protect and take care of the young until they are large enough to effectively follow There’s NO benefits to parents for nesting, it takes too much time and is a chore instead of being a proper experience, it sucks and the gameplay loop atm still sucks after 8 years of development
@@feyytime5571?? Nesting as what? Stego, troodon, teno, omni, dryo, dilo, pachy and currently diablo have mud nests, it is done in like 30 secs. Rest use sticks that are spawning literally all around the player.
It’s a horde test for dibble, the devs should be supporting dibble gameplay so people can test the Dino and find all the bugs, not make the experience miserable when the horde test is already unstable and crashes every 30 minutes
