mate! went pigging with some dogs here around 2017. It was around 330 am, and after taking a trophy of a boar, we were walking back to the ute (about 3km through the harsh scrub) and from behind us where we left the remains of that boar we heard an immense roar/bellow call..It was fkn insane. Never heard anything like that in my life, the dogs freaked out, we immediately crouched and turned off the torches and the collar lights on the dogs and waited a minute. After a short time we continued walking again but heard this insane gutteral scream again but it was closer than before so we just fkn RAN to the car with the dogs. NEVER heard anything like that in our lives, this was deep in the Piliga. Just to be clear, whatever made those noises was big, it sounded like a freaking massive animal of some kind but nothing we could identify at time or to this day.

Yep, the more gin you drink …… the more the yowies come out ….. somehow ! …… they might like the smell of it. When you hear them, don’t shit yourself or fart even ….. because they seem to be encouraged to do their blood curdling shrieks and other weird noises when they know they’ve got you scared. Maybe the grub’s undies you found were very smelly ….. But don’t be a wuz because I’ve never actually heard of a yowie ever killing anyone or for that matter of anyone ever seeing one …. the mongrels are bloody cowards I reckon. So Scotty, I suggest that you keep the gin to just a couple of those mugs full …. unless you want to be scared shitless ! The common name for those beautiful Angophoras is the Apple (obviously nothing like the fruit tree). You’re getting a lots followers from overseas mate ….that’s great, …. Loved the Pilliga adventure. Enjoy your relaxed, natural style doing the vids. I live in America, Wisconsin. Nice that you got to see the eclipse in Oregon. I got a chuckle out of how you thought certain things were "so American" - like people sitting in their lawn chairs waiting for the eclipse. It's interesting to hear what people from other countries think of Americans. Hoo Roo!

Yep,truck drivers don't like resting along that stretch of the Newell Highway. I drove my friend and kids in the middle of the night through there. Never again ,daylight trips only now. Funny how the road kill doesn't last long there it seems to disappear . I was driving along and we came across what looked like a camel leg bone stripped and fresh ,it was as long as one side of the road . We felt like We WERE being followed bush side for quite a while . Rumor is black panther out that way too ,lol ,circus one escaped. Very beautiful and interesting place. Glad you enjoyed it.

I love that you acknowledge the Pilliga Yowie and the Princess Scotty. Thanks for cleaning up the mess, and for bringing the fantastic content. I’d love to know if you ever run into anything in the bush that you think doesn’t really belong out there, or seems a little unusual. I personally am a believer of Yowies after a couple of strange experiences. I never seen a Yowie, but have heard some strange sounds in the bush that are unexplainable, at least for me, and have felt a presence that has made me feel very uneasy while camping. Keep up the excellent work, and I hope you receive an Emmy or a Logie some day for your great videos.

I assume the statue of the native with his son was created by a white fellow. because it has two major faults that a native would not do and a native would know. The statue represent a native on a walkabout. When on walkabout a native would always have both spears, one to spear fish the other to spear mammals, The fishing spear was made of hardwood and the mammals spear from the lightest wood available. ( blackboys flower spikes ) . Plus a child never went on walkabout. the only time a child was with his dad was when moving to a new living site or around the camp. If a native ever lost his spear when hunting it meant it was time for that area to be manage so the next cold period the native would go back to the area where he lost his spear and set fire to the area making it manageable for hunting again where a thrown spear would not get lost. Losing a spear meant that area needed to be made huntable again. The last thing the native want was to loss his mammal spear. because it meant a long walk to find the correct light weight material

The title seems a little misleading. Seems there is something in the Pilliga which didn't get much coverage here. I have to wonder what type of weird noises you heard during the night? I'd be making a comfortable sleeping set up in that nice vehicle on a trip like that. I have to wonder... so you get out of your swag and set up the camera then jump out of your swag again for effect or you have the camera on all night? Or it's on a timer? Interesting video about the Pilliga. Good one thanks.

I was driving through the Pilliga on my way up to lightning Ridge about 10 years ago and me and my mate had a min min light sit on the bonnet of our car and stayed there the entire way through.. the creepy part was the very moment the light disappeared we had a kangaroo jump into the side of our car. We didn’t stop once to inspect for damage until sunrise

No truckies will camp overnight at any wayside stops around Coonabarabran, and i dont blame them, ive been camping and shooting in the pilliga years ago and what i saw and heard was enough to keep me from going back to the pilliga camping or any overnight stuff. Its a creepy ass place and there are yowies in this area. Theres also been plenty of ufo sightings and paranormal activity in this area over the decades.

I would be tempted to have my swag beside my vehicle. Had a type of lean to, once attached to my motorcycle and was glad to have it as a barrier. Any nocturnal critters will go around or over you on the most part, but you don't want to be having that type of guessing game in the dark, while tempting fate. Hearing the thumps of a large roo coming toward you is a worry, but as they pass without incident its okay. But you never know, they may not see you and pound you. The worst I had was small animals running across me.

Something interesting I learnt the other day that makes a lot of sense is the bush that we know today as we know has changed but so has the tree species A lot of our bush has been over logged of certain species that have in most places have left higher fire rated trees. Was a very interesting watch to see how people are introducing native trees that would have been around before our presence to help reduce the fire load Thanks for another great clip showcasing Australia's Beauty

Man, what a RIPPER episode you pulled out of your hat this time. I love just EVERYTHING about how you celebrate the Australian Bush. Just wow. Within a couple of episodes only we started a habit to gather around in the living room, make sure things for the day are settled. Its basically us watching your video(s) as a reward for the day. Big screen, cranked up volumne for the bush birds yelling through our house, mobile phones off and everybody SHUTTY, its Scotts evening. We've been to Oz four times in our lives (German fellas here), mainly for the people and nature, and especially for the red soil unter our feets. 'Addicted' will probably describe it best. You manage to deliver that exact feeling througout your videos, which is amazing to say the least. Thank you and cheers from one proud Patreon supporter!

First of your videos I've watched and looking forward to seeing more. I'd love to be able to get out into real wilderness but unfortunately it no longer exists here in the Uk. Sad to see that you even have the idiots there leaving their litter behind and also desecrating the art work of the original inhabitants. I often have to clear rubbish when walking my dogs in the fields close to home. If they can carry their drinks and snacks out there why not carry the rubbish back home 🤬

I have a gumtree search setup for swags that I check on from time to time. Pretty sure I saw that Winchester come up. Glad that you were able to grab it (felt it was a bit small for me). I have a Saul swag which has heaps of canvas but can be used swagman style. Good trick to deal with condensation is to put a wool blanket between the canvas and your bedding. Will keep you warm and dry.

Scotty thanks for making this movie, and the warrumbungles one as well. Until about 5 years ago I used to work as a weedsprayer in both areas, sometimes for weeks at a time, and have always wanted to take my family out there but haven't been able yet. So last night I put both vids on the tv and was able to share these magical places with them.
