THERE WAS SO MUCH BLOOD | CALLED 911 TO OUR HOME

Hi all! I wish parents could take pain away from our children. If only we could suck it out of them like John Coffey in The Green Mile. Peter came down with a small cold over the week with a low fever, runny nose and a cough. He started getting bloody noses about three days into the cold. First they were very mild then significant. Thank goodness Adam was home to assist. I don’t handle blood well.
One of the most recent nose bleeds was unlike anything we’ve seen before. It didn’t stop. He was coughing up blood with chunks or either blood or mucus. The nose just continued to drip. I’d never seen so much blood. We were scared and called the nurse advice line who advised that we should call 911 to get the emergency response team to our home to check on him. At that point, Peter started losing his color. I’ve never called 911 before and I had hoped that I never would. Five minutes later we had a team of maybe five men in the loft with a gurney in the hall ready to take my little boy to the hospital. Once the emergency response team arrived, the nose bleed stopped! The team took his vitals and said that we should get him checked out. They offered to transport him or we could take him in ourselves. Since the nose stopped bleeding and the team was confident that Peter looks well enough to walk into the emergency room on his own, we decided to take him to the emergency room ourselves.
This was a very scary moment for us. We are confident parents, but when we see our children in pain, fear begins to creep in. We are grateful for the medical staff that has helped us when our children are sick and for their kind and reassuring words that help us replace the fear with confidence again.
Peter is much better now. He had a few nose bleeds in the following days, but they were all very minor.

How frightening this was for you. As parents, you did all of the right steps necessary to care for Peter. So glad he is doing better and hope everything stabilizes as you all move forward. Prayers for that “rambunctious” Peter!

This used to happen to my son. The amt of blood was very scary. They told us his nose was dry, we started using a humidifier and that helped. Dry air was the diagnosis.

My daughter got lots nose bleeds maybe every other day. Found out that she would pick at her nose and her nails were cutting the inside of it. We cut her nails very short and made sure every time she went to pick at it we stopped her. And the nose bleeds started getting less and less and as she got Older and stopped picking they have stopped completely. Maybe that’s what’s causing his.

Hi! Thank you for sharing. It was a similar case. With his runny nose from the cold, he was causing more nose bleeds each time he took a tissue to it. It’s been better since his congestion went away.

My son suffered from the same condition, finally his pediatrician sent him for emergency surgery to completely cauterize his whole nose.

I think Peter might have ITP which is short for Imune Trombose Ito Penia which means that sometimes when he does blood draws his platelets can drop down really low. I have ITP too. And two days before Christmas I had a nose bleed too and my platelets were low so I had to stay overnight and almost didn’t get discharged until Christmas Day but I was just barely able to get out on Christmas Eve thankfully.

@@sunnysideofparenting I can’t tell for sure if he has ITP because I’m only almost 19 years old so if you want to find out if he really does have ITP or not you have to do a blood draw and then if his blood platelets platelet’s are below normal then you will need to take him to a doctor called a hematologist and then the hematologist will be able to tell you if he has ITP or not. And then if the hematologist says he does have ITP then if his platelets drop down dangerously low then the hematologist on call will probably call you later that same day probably later in the evening or maybe even late afternoon and tell you to bring him into the hospital for an IVIG infusion but first as soon they admit him to the hospital they will do another blood draw just to make sure nothing has changed in those few hours .

I lost one of my front teeth in an apple at school when I was in Kindergarten. Then the people in the office took the tooth out of the apple and put it in a small orange envelope.

You might’ve been better off going to Walmart and getting a generic one would’ve been a hell of a lot cheaper. I always thought the PX was supposed to be cheaper. Doesn’t seem like it.

My son gets bloody nose once in a while and he has to take the silence up the nose because it dries out. It's supposed to keep it moist. And because he has a thin line vein that blows up blood, it pops. That's why he gets nose bleeds. The doctors said they can't really do anything about it. So just keep it moist and not let your nose dry out and stay away for dust and pollen and stuff. And take allergy pills hop your son feels better god bless your family

You spend more time talking to the kid and the camera and less time looking at the road. Get your priorities straight so that you don’t kill Adam or kill someone else.
