Starting new job this week, will be starting new savings pile to pick these up. Likely will get there in a little less than a year if I'm aggressive with it. Never could get my breach to collimate due to mount and setup preferences.
How do holographic sights with “night vision” settings perform in your experience with the jerry FB on right eye dominant shooting as you were mentioning about red dots at 19:10
If Infiray will make a refined version with: -Non-proprietary glass -LEMO port battery options -A ruggedized version with aluminium housing I would get one asap!
Honestly, just having the option to not use the Jerry 31 level lenses and put on Carson lenses would be enough for me! It's the only thing stopping me aiming for one. Currently just gonna save for Katanas or Argus 1431.
Gonna start saving next month, should have it four months after that. International export is also a big selling point. Could you say a few words about it's navigation features?
For years I always thought having a NV setup was unobtainable for me. Now that I’ve had one a couple years I really want thermal but I know I’ll never be able to afford a nice thermal or overlay setup. Maybe one day I’ll get a handheld unit to keep in a pouch and have a lanyard for if I wanna wear it around my neck. Would love to have it helmet mounted but everything like that is crazy expensive
Honestly having a little thermal monocular in your pocket for a quick scan here and there is probably the better set up for most people anyway. All you need the thermal for is it show you where to look with your NV. A mid tier thermal will do that really well for you. If you got the nice nods with very good identification range, all you need is a mid thermal cause even mid to low tier thermals have high detection range but poor identification range. NV is basically the opposite, good identification with poor detection. A sub $1000 thermal monocular will get your detection range up into the several hundreds of yards. The bust out a rifle scope to look through with your NV or something to ID from there. Even one of the 300-400 thermals will bump your detection range up significantly if you just use it for periodically scanning for detection only, then leaning heavily on your NV to do the rest. It’s by no means ideal or the best, but for the cost it’s hard to argue with. A 400 dollar thermal paired with a pvs14 used in this manner is a major boost in capabilities over someone who only has NV. And for less than the cost of a Wilcox mount lol. As a stand alone device they’re fairly poor quality and not very useful, but paired with a highly capable device like gen 3 nods, it’s a big boost in capability.
If you have to choose between NV or IR you should absolutely get IR even if it's just a handheld monocular. Detection with thermals is miles ahead of NV.
You can get Jerry 31's and their C5 clip on thermal imager for $8,000 together. That doesn't account for a helmet, mount, or IR device. But most people can save over a year or so and be able to afford some form of night vision.
Where do i just find a 1x for my pocket or home? I have several thermals for weapons. Need around the house and running around where wide angle up close is would be great.
Can the lenses on these be changed out for PVS 14,15, or 31 lenses? The lenses on these are awfully small and I've seen a lot of chromatic aberration in their other products.
the thing i dont like, is having a gps locator on it or bluetooth, if that stuff could be removed porb would interest me more. i just want nv + thermal no need to have a skynet locator onboard too.
@@zr6671 I am not sure of the Bluetooth aspect, however the battery pack on the JFB has the GPS markings and function on the battery housing. The CE5 pack is just batteries. Bluetooth is less concerning than GPS obviously due to distance limitations. I’ll be playing more with all of this as I keep using this unit. 👊
From watching your side-by-comparison view through the two setups, in my subjective opinion I would tend to prefer the Vyper + Jerry CE5 over the Jerry FB, as the view through the former appears better integrated and more seamless than the latter. The white hot of the Jerry FB's integrated thermal image is poorly paired and a mismatch with the green phosphor of its NV image intensifier tubes. Just doesn't look right, not well fused. A much better match and seamless integration and fusion is the Jerry CE5's white hot with the Vyper's white phosphor NV image intensifier tubes. Additionally, again in my subjective opinion, I find annoying and a needless distraction all that digital clutter of symbols and figures on the Jerry FB's screen. Hopefully all that clutter can be removed through a configuration setup option to give a simple, clean image. Would love to see some images/video of the view through the Jerry FB once you figure out how to install white phosphor NV I2 tubes in it, and remove all that digital clutter from the screen.
Go check out one of our latest videos called "Thermal Caught Escaped Killer Danelo Cavalcante" We show the Jerry FB with Elbit white phosphorous tubes in that video! After you watch that video please let us know your thoughts. We think your opinion will change.
Super cool unit. I currently have set of l3 dtnvs with a Jerry c but have always been interested in this unit and one I wish I could see in person. Do you think there is any large benefit other then price difference between the Jerry C and this? And which do y’all prefer to run with all things considered? Also do any chance they make this unit in a quad tube style housing in the future. Seems like wider FOV is all the rage these days.
Yes, this surpasses the C in almost all respects simply due to the clarity of the unit. The CE5 video drops in two weeks and we do more comparisons. This is like having an RH25 fused to your binos, which is insane. That doesn’t mean the C or CE5 are bad, just that they don’t have the capabilities of this bino in terms of thermal clarity and detection or seamless experience.
We would choose to have some sort of thermal for most scenarios. If driving, the binos are nice. You could consider something like the Infiray outdoors CBL19 as a handheld without spending a ton. We stock those for that reason.
Hypothetically, how concerning would it be to have this device with the Chinese software in it should we find ourselves in a conflict with the other side of the world?
The worries of a Chinese killswitch are not entirety unreasonable, but consider that the US has passed legislation to have killswitches in all of our cars. There is no promise that anything ever will be 100% clean unless you designed and fabricated it yourself.
You actually don't need to turn the thermal off. It's not like when looking through a thermal only unit, where looking at glass is just blacked out. I was surprised when I looked through windows; the nvg image sort of just keeps working so it's like you're looking through nvgs as per normal and the thermal doesn't "block out" anything.
I hope you guys see this but I’m getting ready to buy my first pair of night vision and I have the money to rather get a pair of 1431 BMVDs in green, or I could get these, these 2+ and the other ones are GEN three so I’m just curious if there’s any big difference or if the juries would just be better because they’ll be a little bit less they’ll be about $400 less than the 1431s. I really need help from someone thats not gonna tell me yes because they want me to buy it or no because they want me to buy the other one. I want a straight answer from a company that works with night vision, or anyone else that isn’t looking for me to buy their set. unless you got a used set in good condition hehe;)
It's cool and 18,000 dollars cool!!! haha. Do a giveaway. I'm currently battling cancer (rare leukemia) and these will save my life. Okay, they won't save me, the targeted chemo will and likely these are known to the state of California to cause cancer hahahahahah. What a cool ass video you guys made. Thermal is incredible from ABOVE. I served in the 90's at Hurlburt on the gunships. You can run but you'll just die tired.
I don't know if you can answer this: I can NOT look through binoculars, my right eye shuts down for me to see (left eye dominant, right handed). What do you recommend if I'm trying to get into NVG? I like the idea of NV on my right eye and thermal on my left, when I shoot a rifle I use my right eye, pistol is all left eye
If you get a thermal and tube you can hold them by hand and see which eye likes what. If there's anyone that does NV classes nearby maybe they can let you demo theirs. But straight up thermal bridging with a dedicated thermal scope + 1 tube is hard, the images won't line up perfectly because they're built different. I think the ideal is binos + some kind of COTI.
You can run a PVS14 on either eye and there is no right or wrong. With binos, you'd need to train yourself through it. It certainly IS possible, many people have done it. It will just take hours and reps. There is a benefit when in total darkness as your eyes ONLY have the optics to look through. I find that makes it easier than standard daylight binos. Even with a bridged setup, you can keep the 14 on your dominant eye for shooting, a thermal on non-dominant for scanning. Whatever works for you is right for your situation. Hope that helps!
Understandable. Most customers rocking thermal rigs with a PVS14 are already into their setup 10-12K. The extra $3K will absolutely be worth it for some folks. Thanks for watching!
@Arkayne Realy good to know the tech is getting better for everyone. My unit tested the first issued NOD/Thernal hybrid units back in Afghanistan 2011. Very good fusion mode.
You really think a Chinese housing is equivalent spec, build and electronic wise to a ENVGB? The ENVGB has probably hundreds of millions sunk into its IP and research with decade plus of development from the PSQ36, PSQ20 and other systems. They’re comparable in relation of what they both do but obviously the ENVGB is far superior to this. Like hell the glass quality on this unit requires your eye to be a half inch or less to fully get the sight of the tube and thermal overlay.
Have you ever made a video that is something you don’t sell being the best thing smoking? That Chinese crap is not to par. I have all that crap, 31a’s with the Jerry c, quads, Jerry Fb, Rico 25, all the crap. All are good for different things. I sure wouldn’t trust my life to the FB though. Especially in a CQB situation
Watch it, learn about the tech, and start a plan to save money. This video isn’t about selling a $15K unit, it’s about educating people as to where the tech is headed.
Holy, this is amazing and especially at that price point considering the L3 version is only MIL and they are for 50k per pop. Most of these ReTaRdS in the comment section don’t know what they are talking about and take Lucas a gospel without a doubt of any info that’s truly sorted by themselves, that coming from a Lucas Big proponent of his Normalization of what the 2nd really is about. Anyways moving from that tangent, good job on these I’ll be picking a pair soon to test it out
Core Vision Industries was, might still be, releasing a unit just like this. I say maybe because their site is gone and Facebook page has been dark since last year. Really cool looking design. Shame if it’s dead.
@lamppost904 yep and no response on Facebook. They killed their instagram a while ago due to censorship so that's a no go. He moved from LA to Tennessee a year or two ago and after that sort of dropped of the radar with minimal updates.
