Polystyrene is attracted to static charges. I wonder if you could have combed your hair then placed the comb over the aluminum and super fine polystyrene beads and have the beads stick to the comb. What you showed in the video looks almost identical to silver/aluminum "Testors" brand paint for hobbies. The copper oxide you show in the video is exactly what you want to prevent from forming when brazing copper refrigeration lines. You use an inert gas like nitrogen. The black scale will not form inside the pipe to clog up capillary tubes.

Of all my years knowing thermite and dozens of other reactions, it takes Cody'sLab to tell me I can get a thermite reaction from copper oxide and aluminum.

Apparently the stuff can sprayed, used in cutter charges, grenades, various sol gel composition that have properties ranging from traditional incendiary to high explosive.
