My biggest fear is waking up one day and wanting a lipstick coil guitar… and scarily, I feel I inch closer towards wanting one everyday :S This is coming from a proper modern guitar lover who’s into prog metal and most of the bands you listen to as well! Help me man 😭

I used to hate Telecasters because they looked like a slice of toast with a cutaway to me. 😂I actually own one nowadays and really like it, don't know what was wrong with me at that time :D I also own a LTD Snakebyte (not the camo one!) which is actually a pretty nice guitar although I'm not much of EMG fan, so I consider selling it, but nonetheless it feels and plays great

Expressing your personal opinions without the fear of criticism especially in a growing channel like yours shows authenticity. In my country/continent its sad that guitars dont get much attention and recognition(people prefer digital keyboards/pianos), guess coz of the multi-effects you get and its an easier instrument to set up and play in congregation setups like churches and social events. Im a self taught guitarist and used to be in a cover rock/heavy metal band while in university in china, played with a couple of guys from Nepal and Vanuatu islands,covered bands like metallica, RHCP, system of a down, hinder, seether, scorpions etc was so much fun to have been introduced to rock. Was blown away by their raw musical skill and understanding of guitars. I've taken keen interest since i took up the instrument and have tried different guitars from colt, ibanez, fender, sebrew, epiphone, rira(indonesian). Sadly back home we dont have many guitar /music shops, or bands most common guitar is the fender strat(copy) black&white colour which ive come to dislike because almost all ive seen and tried are fake copies and very poorly made and its sad that people here think and feel they are good guitars because they havent played an authentic one and gosh it baffles me how much people lack knowledge about guitars out here. Music as a university course/study isnt encouraged, music shops out here are very rare, its quite hard to get an authentic guitar /gear let alone get a band going or just enjoy some live music. Its something ive missed ever since university. hope in future we can get more African rock bands and guitar shops and gear going here. Cheers and support from Zambia 🇿🇲.

Hot guitar take: expensive guitars are generally a waste of money. Buy a beater and do some work on it. One of my favorite guitars was free. When I want it to be better, I spend a few bucks and break out the tool box.

Spicy guitar take: Even if I had the money, I’d take an epiphone over a gibson, there’s just nothing that can’t be done to a cheaper epiphone that justifies the prices of gibsons.

Spicy guitar hot take? That’s easy! Those Chinese “carbon fiber” guitars. They are technically considered a composite, but they are not the carbon fiber tanks most people think they are. All these Chinese “carbon fiber” guitars (ie: Lava, Journey, Traveller, etc.) are essentially plastic guitars with a little CF shavings sprinkled inside. They’re good at resisting humidity, but they are eventually gonna break if you even so much as bump them the wrong way - and you can’t repair them. Want a totally non-metal recommendation?! I love Agufish, but I was shocked that he would be willing to recommend the Lava 3 (or any other similar brand). It’s “cute” looks are definitely not a metal guitar as acoustics go, but I say this more because they’re literally shit. Here was his first unboxing experience where the top was a shattered annihilation when he first unboxed it. A bidirectional weave will still be playable (though scraped) even if you drive a 4x4 over it. It will never break in shipping. And then, like 8 months later, Agufish still recommended the Lava 3 anyway after a new one was sent by the brand. Like wtf?! It’s still made of the same crap. He saw what happened to the first one. It will happen to others by merely bumping them or dropping them and there’s no way to repair these shitty composite guitars. I am not exaggerating. All looks aside, don’t buy them. You will break it at some point and then you will have wasted your money. I have no clue how Hunter could still go ahead and say it’s a great “carbon fiber” guitar when the first one was totally effed up in shipping. But instead, Hunter chose to feed his family by recommending the Lava 3 8 months later when he clearly should have used that shattered top experience as a teachable moment. In fact, I’m still waiting for a major RU-vidr to educate the guitar community about composites after they started to get more popular. Want a metal AF carbon fiber option that’s more attainable if you save a bit more than these Amazon guitars?! Like the real deal stuff used in planes, spaceship, and military? Buy an acoustic or electric bi-directional carbon fiber guitar and/or upgrade parts from KLOS. They cost around half the price as a McPherson or Emerald Guitars CF guitar with the same strength, quality, and attention to detail. They sound incredible whether you gig or play at home. They also don’t look like a toy. You can get them made with your choice of pickups, electronics, setup specs, etc. They sell B stock and encourage people to call to request discounts. Their customer service is incredible. You can find shops that carry them if you want to try one, or they’ll ship one to you and let you test drive it for a refund if you decide it’s not for you. I don’t have anything bad to say about this brand. How do they make it possible to charge half the price of their competitors for bi-directional CF guitars? They have the main CF bodies, necks, and other components made in China and then shipped to their shop in Utah where they inspect, build, etc. Oh and now every guitar also gets a free Plek service included in the base price for free! And KLOS guitars come with a lifetime warranty from defects - those crappy Chinese brands don’t have the balls to offer that. I don’t represent KLOS in any way, btw. I am just a really satisfied customer. My dying mom gave me a gift to buy an acoustic guitar in 2017 before she passed, so I picked their first full sized model when it was launched on Kickstarter. It’s been my only guitar ever since and gets played 2+ hours nearly every day. Mine is the hybrid model, which is made with a wood neck with two CF stiffening rods inside and now a CF fretboard (mine doesn’t have that last feature). The guitar is a beast and still going strong. They still sell hybrid models if you’re trying to save some more money. Most people will be super happy with the hybrid for home and light gigging use, but they didn’t sell a guitar with a fully CF neck when I got mine. The guitar arrived in 2018 and has been going strong ever since - even when I got ill myself and it was left on a stand in a NYC house that had no heat or a/c for 10 months. If you want to be metal AF, save up for that will last a lifetime. You will be doing yourself a favor to buy from KLOS instead of that cheap Chinese crap that looks like it’s for kids and will definitely break with very little effort. I know some people can’t afford a bidirectional CF guitar, but those people would be better off buying a wood guitar since wood is still less likely to break than this horrible excuses for a guitar that are overpriced injection molded toys that sound nice but will definitely break and can’t be repaired. (Btw, I don’t own an electric guitar. I can’t afford one due to my long term incurable illness. It would be metal AF if you’d consider letting me have the guitar Rob gave you for such an amazing comment. I have tried to get a donated guitar for over three years now. My acoustic beats up my hands, even with the action dropped and light strings . I love my KLOS, but my physical issues and chronic pain are not the guitar’s fault. An electric guitar would up my metal game and let me play harder - I can’t even bend, do trills, etc. on my acoustic with my physical ailments. Halllllp me up my metal game here! I like and own a few guitars that are different. For example, I own a Gittler Titanium (I think they're called the classic model now) for several years. I own an Eastwood Backlund Model 400 (black and mint green). I have three favs / main guitars brands/models I use, and I own several of each: Hardtail: Ibanez PS guitars Floating trem: Jackson Rhoads with Floyd Rose and my main guitar: EBMM Kaizen 6. I like my guitars and they work great for me, that's why I purchased them and keep them. When I see other guitarists with guitars that don't interest me, I figure they're playing it because they like it. Some of the sub $1K guitars available are good guitars. Cheers!

I have two black Super Strat guitars, one is a Schecter Omen 6 and I have an Ibanez GRG131DX-BKF with the red gloss pickgaurd. I like black Super Strats as I like the classic look of those guitars.

I've been playing nearly 40 years so there are plenty of things/fads/gear that I hate but the one that punches me in the left nut over and over is the TOM-style bridge. Hate how it looks. Hate how it sounds. Hate how it feels. Hate the word "Tune-O-Matic." I get that it looks "correct" on certain guitar models but I still hate it. Phew. I really do feel better now. Cheers.

god, i am so glad that i’m not the only one who hates black super-strats. to be honest, i don’t like most black guitars in general. i like flash and pizazz, so a pearl metallic or sparkle finish is ideal. some spicy takes: Music Man/Sterling own the pinnacle of headstock design. Sunburst is the ugliest finish, period. Strats and Teles are boring and so oversaturated that i’ve grown to resent them. Quilted maple is the supreme figured top for a guitar. No bursts though! >:( I’ve never seen a Fender headstock i liked, and i especially dislike the giant strat headstocks. Lastly, all-digital rigs are the future, it’s inevitable. 🤷🏻‍♀️ This channel is massively underrated. Keep it up. :)

My spicy guitar take as a distinct bedroom noodler: B.C Rich Warlocks. All of them. In the bin. Especially the glossy black ones. They go in first. And then set the bin on fire. And then take the ashes and throw them into a volcano. And then blow up the volcano with a thermonuclear weapon.

I love Les Pauls and I love a solid humbucker, but the guitar that makes me regret existing is the Epiphone Ace Frehley Les Paul with triple hums 😩 it sounds fine in most cases but I absolutely hate the look of a triple humbucker setup. I stumbled upon it in a thrift shop for dirt cheap and did a proper restoration but I can never bring myself to play it lmao

You come across as our mate rather than just a content creator and it’s sick and I’m sure we all appreciate that. Anyway. My hate.. and it’s with a passion really. Ibanez Gio GRG series!!! They are shit! I hate the tacky shark tooth inlays, nearly all of them are in black, hardware is crap, sound crap. And I tell you what Jack it was my first electric guitar over 15 years ago and I hated it. Glossy black which was a nothing but a finger print magnet, shark tooth inlays, chrome volume/tone nobs. It was just tacky. In recent years if they’re not in some sort of black colour way, the Gio has some amazing finishes available to us. Finishes which should be made available on the standard Ibanez RG series. But what guitar player goes out and buys a Gio. No one, not when for £100 or so more you can get an actual real Ibanez. Saying that as you mentioned before the RGA42 isn’t that much better either, I’m even thinking of getting rid of mine. So yeah… Ibanez Gio and I think I’m going to put the RGA in there too, there’s a reason why there’s not a pro model for it. Ibanez do some really amazing stuff but their budget - mid range stuff is a just bit whack really. My opinion obviously ✌️ Oh and maybe you should try and get one of those Klein guitars on your channel. I think it would be dope, and you never know, could be a game changer for you! 🤯

Les Paul Gold Top.....every guitar player I knew in the 80's and 90's wanted one of those damn things. They play fine, but I think they are ugly in a boring kinda way.The kind of guitar that musicians want because other musicians want them. PS: I was totally surprised! I agreed with your selection of ugly guitars...haha. But I want one of those reverse flying V's, just to piss people off.

Gotta be anything anyone calls an “offset” guitar for me. Jaguar, Mustang, Jagstang… and the biggest offender… the Jazzmaster. I mean…. wtf is the need for all those f’ing switches! Oh, and don’t get me started on the Ernie Ball Music Man St. Vincent guitar. An absolute abomination!!

OK so as an owner of a black KH LTD and someone who would love a a Snakebyte, i feel deeply offended. But then my rack at the moment is like a rainbow so I get your point. And the guitars I can't stand for the competition..... "Gretsch... that's the noise my dog makes when it see's one" and "The fender jaguar, named after a big cat because anyone who plays something so fugly isn't getting any pussy after a gig. At least they have 22 buttons to fiddle instead".

I have played some used one off guitars that sucked, but I think it was the modifications made by the previous owners not anything to do with the initial design of the guitar... that being said I just don't understand the appeal of the Les Paul style guitars. Whether it's a Gibson or some other company, every time I've picked one up, I end up just putting it back down after a few minutes. They just don't gel with me and I am sure with the thousands of versions of this guitar, there is probably a great one out there, but now I just stay away from them.

Spicy specific guitar take: I hated the BC Rich acrylics back in the day. Played one, and it was super heavy, and sounded like crap. Also, just felt wrong because their other guitars look pretty cool anyway.

Hottest Guitar Dislike: I hate SG's, there, I said it. It's like someone heard a player refer to a guitar as an Axe then actually tried to copy the shape of said axe by drawing round a medieval weapon and then attaching a big old meat ball of a baseball bat on the neck ("deep breath"), you are not Angus Young my friend, I'm quite aware you could play most songs with a few chords but those big ol' trapezoid inlays and millions of knobs are just distracting, anyway good luck maintaining that glorified shovel as headstock cracks are real and everytime you restring the bugger you are risking a beheading!

So I am THE lover of all thing Explorers... I almost refuse to play any other shape. I got LTD EX's, ibanez destroyers, an epiphone explorer, schecter e1, chapman ghost fret, dean zero, jackson kelly, cort vx.... and i gotta say I completely agree 🤣idk what they were thinking with that snakebite it is to me the most boring and unappealing explorer anyone's ever made.

I just dont like the default 100 buck strat copy with a bad trem that cant stay in tune. Just leave the tremolo out of this and build a solid starter guitar.

My most hated guitar is the new Chapman ML-2 design it looks like a cartoonist had sex with a bad idea and gave birth to a clear way to avoid a lawsuit.

I just sold my Snakebyte because it was uncomfortable to play compared to my Explorer and my Schecter E-1. The ugliest and worst guitar I have ever owned was a headless Agile 6-string. The bridge on this headless was not designed well and it was constantly going out of tune because the design of the bridge made it so the individual tuners wobbled side to side so it never stayed in tune for more that about a minute's worth of playing. I'm a left handed player and far too many left handed version are only available in black or sunburst, so I am stuck with buying more black guitars than I want. BTW, my first gen ML-2 was the second worst looking guitar I had. The tuners on the older version I had were Grover mini tuners on a 3x3 headstock and they looked out of place.

Any guitar that has weird designs down the fretboard. For some reason it makes me irrationally angry. Even something simple like a logo or a signature on the 12th makes my blood boil. I know it's weird, and 100% a me thing, but it sets me off every time.

'Collecterbating'. I lost it. 🤣 I like modern styles mostly but if it plays well and isn't worth a mortgage, I'll buy it if it isn't hideous. I own a Solo Tele kit, a dirt cheap Asian Tele that plays miles above it's $120 used price, a $360 (mint used) Yamaha RGX620DZ shred machine, an Ibanez S400, Ibanez SZ520QM, Ibanez Iceman, and a refinished project old Yamaha thing..E112 or something. They all play really well, but the best of the lot is the Yamaha RGX down to the tuning stability, lever-lock nut, playability, and the pennies I paid for it. Buy some fret tools and start looking for the bargains. Learn how to set up properly and you'll save an ishton. The reverse V is what i would call 'firewood'. What were they thinking? Oh...they weren't. I'd say the same about a Gibson SG. I hate the looks of them regardless of the sound, history etc.

I bought a Ibanez grga42q blah blah, years ago and spent 600$ on it out of a magazine. I absolutely hated it. The neck was super chunky to me, it didn’t sound that great and I was just really disappointed. I bought an old Jackson for half the price and it’s the best guitar I’ve ever played.

Guitars with only a bridge pickup that still cost as much as a guitar with 2. (Special shout for that Meshuggah thing thats like $4k) The Paul Gilbert Ibanez with the f-hole painted on. Explorers...cause they're to 'i'm a rockstar'. Anything 80's. Especially EVH or George Lynch.

For some reason I think telecasters in certain colours look more like 50s kitchen appliances than guitars

I can't stand looking at left-hand guitars. It makes me ill. I truly feel bad for left handed guitarist. I wish RU-vid had an option to flip the screen horizontally and make it look right. I love Chapman Guitars, I have two and I'll never get rid of them.

Gretsch guitars play well (whatever they look like), different than your typical metal set up, but something cool to change things up. Try djenting on a standard gretsch model, you don't have to riff like Brian Setzer or Poison Ivy Rorschach! I personally don't get most of the weird old fender shapes - if its not a tele or strat then I'm out. Jazzmaster? Mustang? why?

I automatically dislike any guitar with TOM bridges. I simply cannot get used to them after havig started on strats. The height and whole design of them are unnecessarily inconvenient, impractical, and uncomfortable. No idea how to anker my hand when I want to trem pick or gallop the thick strings. Other than that, I don't really hate any shapes. Headless maybe, but the design is completely practical and not just eye candy, so I can appreciate them as well

Headless guitars would be top of my list, I just don't like them. I'm not a huge fan of basic strats because they're just so basic & boring. But i grew up in the 80's & spikey guitars (BC Rich) or insanely coloured almost glow in the dark guitars were the thing. Kind of like how you feel about black superstrats. I have 3 strats, 2 are purple (1 is a MIM Hendrix sig) & the 3rd is a copy of David Gilmour's Black Strat. If i buy a guitar it has to look as good hanging up on the wall as it does making me want to play it. Also that Gibson Moderna (or whatever it's called) is just horrendous to look at.

Spicey take: I can’t stand anything made by Cort or Yamaha when it comes to guitars, they’re just soulless, feel like a few bits of wood slapped together with some strings lazily mounted on them, although maybe my spiciest opinion is that I fkn hate Fishmans, all the voicings and pickups sound flat and muddy, the only voicing that sounds any different from every other voicing is the Tim Henson “Nylon” voicing and even then it’s not that good, Seymour Duncan’s do the passive sound better and EMG’s do the active sound better, probably wouldn’t mind so much but with these frankly mid pickups being put in so many models it really makes it hard to find guitars with pickups I actually want

Hot Take, Most Jackson Guitars look amazing and sound amazing but have the worst guitar necks for premium guitars. The Jackson Monarch is the worst les paul metal guitar I ever played

I hate the Cort Effector the most. Heaviest guitar ever and the electronics break. Second any strat made in China or early Mexico. Third is the Ibanez X series that played like a big chunk of plastic. Favorite is my Epiphone Jupiter from 1984. Best Randy Rhodes copy and I do love the Kahler whammy. Next favorite is any guitar that has good pickups and low action. Stickers can always make a crappy guitar look better.

What I dislike most about the guitar is the number of kids who play it, bending it unnecessary, and making faces of orgasm, when it sounds terrible and the only thing that inspires me is horror. It's like they don't have any more ideas and they add bends just for filler. It's my opinion, but most people do that.

yeah I got over the full black super strat craze back in like 1986 ha.. The only black guitar I own now is my Explorer. I also agree about Ibanez getting boring. It's disappointing, the reason I got out of the black phase in 86 is because Ibanez came out w/ the Rg's in 87' with all the cool colors etc. Yeah I tihink the reverse Gibsons are the worst things that ever happened to guitars.. I always just the designer of those was eating some really good shrooms and watching Alice in Wonderland when he came up with those ideas. .Had to. no person in their "right mind" would do that. As for Gretsch the only thing that has kept them "cool" to me is Brian Setzer and Billy Duffy. As for the Snakebyte.. Yep not a fan, just looks like a massive chunk of wood, doesn't look comfortable at all. Wish they kept the original Explorer shape, I get Gibson would have sued but they didn't have to get a full side a wall as a body it's just to much for me.. And the camo does suck

As a Tampa bay resident. Dean guitars are trash. The whole headquarters is trash. The V headstock is trash. The company only came back from the grave because of DBD’s death. Cause everyone and their mom was going on eBay looking for a retro trashed out ML. Which leads to my next hot take. Jackson king V’s/rhoads and other similar heavy metal sharp V shaped guitars are ugly and should’ve stayed in the 80’s with the double neck V in the whitesnake music video. (I can’t fake. Scott Ian’s signature is kinda cool😂)

My most disliked guitars are basically anything from BC Rich or Washburn. They are the ugliest guitars! Any of that super pointy stuff is not for me. No offense to those who do like them; you do you. I'll stick to my basic ass Teles or LPs 😅

I heavily disagree with your first take, but the other four made up for it haha. I’m not sure what it is about Gretsch but I also think that they are some of the ugliest guitars ever. I’m a huge Sleep Token fan and whenever he pulls out the Gretsch baritone I just sigh lol. Anyway, my spicy/unpopular guitar opinion is that limiting yourself to exclusively 6-strings is lame and you should be more open minded. I see tons of people who slander extended range guitars because “a real guitarist only needs 6 strings” or “leave those notes to the bassist”. I know it’s mostly metal players that use ERG’s but there’s also a lot of great jazz/classical/fusion guitarists that play ERG’s because of the possibilities they offer! I think everyone should spend a few days playing around with a 7 or 8 string guitar because you never know, you might like. Don’t limit yourself to 6-string because it’s the “right” way to play a guitar!

For me it's the Fender Jag-Stang. Love Fender, love Kurt Cobain, and I bet it plays and sounds great, but that guitar is just SO ugly. Honorable mentions include the Dean Cadillac, the Gibson Moderne and the Melody Maker. P.S. I love the Snakebyte how dare you haha!

I hate Harley Bentons. I have no idea who Harley Benton is but his hands must be enormous. The necks on their guitars are as thick as a bass.

My hot take other than the abomination known as the dean Cadillac is I hate hss fenders they sound so weak and also starts in general the staple for cheap starter guitar is always the strat...please no sunburst strats also so been done to death

I personally dislike les paul standard. They have terrible neck dive, they are way to heavy, they don't feel as solid as a 3 or 5 piece neck, they are extremely expensive, not to mention Gibson basically now owning that design of guitar and posting suits agenst anyone who even comes close to it,

Les Pauls... more like LESS Paul. They're THE benchmark guitar that rose to fame decades ago and honestly, I can't stand them. 1. They're heavy as shit, even the weight relieved models are so heavy, playing a whole set with one leaves you with an aching shoulder and a sore back... the only guitar that, while packed in a hardshell case, weighs more than your fucking amp. 2. They have no bevels of any kind, so the stupid heavy guitar spends all it's time walking around your side and you spend half the night adjusting the placement so it actually stays in front of you. 3. The upper fret access is hampered by THE BIGGEST, SLOPPIEST neck joint in all of music. Who thought this chunky bullshit was a good idea??! 4. The design and qc issues. Beyond the fact that the Memphis models are $5k and up... is the fact that they're so sure of their place in the music industry, they even posted pics of a Les Paul on their site that had a crack in the neck. The arrogance and complacency is not acceptable. Not to mention the crazy angle on the Les Paul neck and the lack of support. One word Gibson, VOLUTE. 5. Law suit central. Gibson has been suing other manufacturers for years. Sometimes for infringing on some of their signature shapes and designs... sometimes because it seemed they wanted nothing more than to stay in the spotlight. I'm really surprised they haven't sued the local forest for having trees.
