worst part about asylums, is that it wasnt just that one asylum, it happened everywhere!, wile there were asylums that actutally tried to treat their patience nicely, a great majority were precisely that, prisons of pure torture, because the people there actively has no idea how to deal with this individuals and if you have had to deal with someone that for example screams at night constantly, you will know that a lot of this nurses and doctors eventually just got tired of this people and would do anything to get them to stop and stay quiet and still, leading to such horrible practises.
@@area52ron it's cool that he openly stated it wasn't inspired by that. he could've easily taken that theory and ran with it to make the series more interesting to true crime people.
The Town of Light is just messed up. I played it all the way through and felt bad for the main character. She was SA'd, miscarried, kept her gift and letters from her, and didn't even tell her her mother had died before she got out. She never had problems because she was a victim of her mom's friend who molested her. Also in Silent Hill 3, the subway segment is slightly related to deaths in Japanese subways are linked by people either being pushed, slipped, or fell of their own decisions.
Another interesting thing to note: Outlast's Mount Massive Asylum was modeled after the H.H. Richardson Asylum (now the Hotel Henry) in Buffalo, New York. Most of the wards have now been demolished, but it was originally designed with the wards in a staggered pattern due to designers believing that lots of natural sunlight was good for the mentally ill.
It was the main design in most Victorian/Edwardian healthcare facilities. Ngl, I kinda see the point. fresh air and contact with nature may help in many mental ailments. The problem was everything else they did there.
@@jax199 Very glad that mental health facilities have come so far. Yes, abuse still happens in them, but not on the scale that it once did. The facilities I've been to seemed to genuinely care about the people being housed and wanted to help them.
I was about to say the same thing. After playing Outlast, it's very eerie to see how the asylum in the game looks very much like the Richardson Olmsted Complex. 😨
Oh my lord. Child’s 9th street is one of the most disturbing games I’ve ever come across and to think that was based off of a real act is mind blowing!
That woman messed Anatoly up for sure, he couldn't process that they're dead and can never wake up. Why would you make a child kiss a dead body and basically marry them? I feel bad for that dude
What he did was horrifying but the kids are dead he should just be put in a mental asylum for life cause this seems far to far now idk if he can be saved
Being mentally unstable and needing help doesn´t negate what someone did and that they should be held acountable for their actions. Sure that can look different but having a reason for doing something does not excuse a crime.
Considering the insane thing he went through as a child, it's pretty clear he was himself robbed of a normal life. His perception of normality was completely shattered at a child's age. Who can blame a person being unhinged and weird when they are the result of unhinged and weird people forcing bizarre rituals on them as a child?
@@grandbean9031 didn't say anything about blame I said that people should be held accountable for their actions. Not knowing better doesn't make a crime less of a crime. I am all for treating people as humans and helping them get better mentally, physically, etc. no matter if they did a crime or not.
@@Hopischwopi I do believe in some ways that not knowing better does somewhat excuse a crime. If a person is so immature in the social aspect that they do not understand basic concepts like death, how can they be expected to act civilised. Ofc it doesn't mean you should just let them go, that man needs to go to a mental institute, definitely not jail or prison.
@@grandbean9031 that's what I meant with the help looking different. Not to mention that most prisons and how they work help no one. So yes not all people who commited a crime belong in prison, they need a mental institution.
The way how i was so angry on Anatali at first but once i heard his story.. i felt sad If thats true what he said ofc, but we cant denied that he was mentally sick If his schizophrenia was discovered and prevented in time, maybe this terrible thing would never happen..im so sorry for parents of kids..this story rly disturbed me the most
The way I see it for Anatoli (I don't know if that's how its spelled) I don't think I can see him as a villain. Not entirely at least. Not entirely, at least. Schizophrenia is a dangerous mental disorder and will make people do things most other people wouldn't do. It's even worse when it doesn't get diagnosed or treated soon enough or properly. And his actions weren't as bad as they could've been. Sometimes that disorder can drive a person to actually commit murder if it's not taken care of. Not making fun of anyone who has schizophrenia, just saying mental disorders are extremely dangerous and need to be taken seriously and treated properly.
Yes same goes with ptsd I live with schizophrenia and cptsd unfortunately these conditions aren't treated well at all and a lot of stigma sounds them I'm unmedicated but use art as a way of dealing with it schizophrenia can also cause CPTSD because of violent hallucinations
I love this channel! It brings so many games to my attention that I've never even heard of! 👍🏻👍🏻 When I heard you say Abigail's name I already knew what the topic was. That time in colonial America was absolutely insane! It's weird, I'll always go after the horror games that have true historical / recorded events.
In my opnion, direct crimes committed against the dead will always be less severe than the murder and abuse of the living. That does not mean however that people committing those crimes shouldn't be punished. After all, a crime against a corpse is also a crime against their loved ones. These criminals should also, and foremost, get help first though.
@@Hellraiser988 I wouldn't call it wholesome, but when it comes to his intentions I agree. Which is why I think this guy needs help more than anything.
Is there a source for the information of there being Chuck E. Cheese in Germany? I've never heard about there being any Chuck E. Cheese places here in Germany so no idea where that information is from. I don't think it's accurate.
@KazzaGamesTV It really is, I enjoyed it a lot and would love to pick it up again. You definitely should because I and I'm sure many others would want to see that!
I think the FNAF game one story kinda have a little inspiration from a murder happened I think in japan when a murderer killed a young woman and stuffed her inside a hello kitty's doll so it's like the story is a combination of both chuck e. cheese and hello kitty murders imo
HAPPY HALLOWEEN! :P The story of Outlast is the top for me... I knew about some mind controlling tests in the past but did not know so much about it (or still think so perhaps I was brain washed and had to forget all I knew? ;-) )
Quite amazing for me to find a video like this, I'm an aspiring software engineer, I started 9 months ago to learn java among other languages because of the inspiration I drew from the Outlast Whistleblower DLC. How extraordinary it must be to be a qualified specialist in your field caught up in such an unthinkable scenario where you are contracted to work somewhere as sinister as Murkoff Corp. I had no idea it was based off events taking place in a real institution. Fascinating!
It's horrible what happened in these stories based off of the games! I'm glad the Volterra Asylum was out of business. I feel bad for all these poor patients there. What that 21-year-old did was not okay in the first story. He took that out on others. I saw that Five Nights At Freddy's trailer twice when showing it to some people before telling them a joke I came up with, including a RU-vidr playing it and an animated video about Freddy Fazbear. I also read about William Afton on Five Nights At Freddy's Wiki. By the way, I've been to Chuck E Cheese's when I was little! There's one in my town which has changed a little. There's a new logo and picture, just like in the video and one of my former co-workers who took her kids there said that the animatronics there were removed because people found them creepy. But I never did. In fact, I got up on staged and, sometimes, pretended to be an animatronic. I watched another video about Chuck E Cheese's and another place similar to that restaurant. I didn't know it spread in other continents. Also, I have some family in Germany. I think Anatoli is a mentally, unstable individual who needs help.
The Russian guy obviously had emotional and mental challenges. I can understand that the families of the children were upset, and rightly so, but I can also understand how someone in his state of mind can do what he did and not apologize. He didn't do anything sick/disgusting to the bodies, from what was mentioned, so this provides support for what he said about his intentions and loneliness. I feel sorry that the families had to endure that extra pain, but I also have pity on him. It was a sad situation for everyone.
I was never angry with the Anatoly case, he didn't molest the corpse of the children, it wasn't sexually motivated. He was a lonely, mentally ill man, who felt that the "children" would also be lonely. He treated each body with care. I get the parents being upset, but them rejecting or painting him as a monster has nothing to do with the "children" and all about the parents taking on the victim role. Their children have moved on, the body is just flesh, and bones, not the soul of their child. Anatoly was not mentally well, but treated the "children" as a father would his own, watching cartoons, singing childrens songs. Its sad, a living human being was so lonely to go to such extremes
as a 90s kid ive been to chuckie cheese a few times...i never found the animatronics to be scary at all. im genuinely very sad they no longer use animatronics at chuckies..i was looking forward to experiancing it again as a parent, but oh well...theres still pizza and games i guess.
also, i would love it if someone built a real Freddy Fasbears that was a friendly kids pizza place during the day and a spooky escape room for adults at night...thatd be awesome. :)
What a very informative video and I imagine it took a lot of work, in research and editing, etc. It was worth every minute watched. I have all the games mentioned here (with the exception of "Five Night's at Freddy", honestly, it's not my type) and how good it was to know the whole story of a game and to know that something that seems to be fiction, has a little truth behind it. I'm the type of person who believes that, any book I read, any film I watch and just like video games, their authors always look for something true to adapt later. I don't regret subscribing to this channel since the first time I saw it as a recommendation on RU-vid (months ago) You guys (Lucas, Nathan) you do an excellent job here. Keep up! 👌
Well you said in the video he was diagnosed as schizophrenic, so he’s mentally ill and not a “ruthless criminal”. He didn’t do what he did because he’s evil or for fun or revenge or the tonnes of messed up reasons other serial killers do what they do. The drug dealer killing the women’s child is a ruthless criminal. This isn’t to say what he did was wrong. But to try and label him a “ruthless criminal” would be too harsh. We also have to consider that if he was diagnosed sooner - he would have been able to get the help and support that he needed, which would have avoided this outcome. Yet he didn’t. So yeah. He’s not a ruthless criminal. He’s a mentally ill man that didn’t get the help and support he needed.
Real life is much scarier. The other day, I received a video of a man with Asian features (but the video takes place in a South American country) walking calmly down a road. In one hand he carried a small scythe; in the other he carried... the recently severed head of a woman (who also had Asian features). The man didn't mind being seen by other people on the road, just as he didn't mind being filmed. He walked casually, as if he had just completed a task.
Outlast was SO GOOD. I actually liked the dlc "The Whistleblower" even more than the Base Game. Outlast 2 was a massive disappointment to me personally, and fun or not, the newest Outlast was absolutely terrible as a follow up to story based games. I didn't play, and if it's considered a simple spin-off then there's nothing wrong with that, but talk about stepping out of the lane Florida Horror g Able fanatics who just wanted another story based single player campaign. I'd hoped it would make up for 2 which became more about running and avoiding and losing stealth near entirely. Again, the dlc for the first game is the best from start to finish.
i lived in colorado my entire life and never heard of the chuckie cheese killings. infact theres a restaurant that far from my house in denver that still have those cool looking robots
It's bone chilling and should make you think on your every move. Most of those stories were linked directly to people taking advantage in the needs of others or bei the lack of support in their hardest times. Special focus should be on those that went mad without the love of the women. While men protect women on a physical level, women are there to protect men on a psychological level. Missing either one of those, will lead to the downfall of society, so take a look around, where we are currently at.
The Number 5 situation of the dude who massacered his whole village... its pretty fucking sad to think if wouldve only gotten a little bit of love from everybody and didnt feel like an outside and everbody hated him. he wouldve not turned this way. this pretty sums up that every human needs love and care... if you are to long alone and isolated with ur thoughts and ideas. u go nuts
I see anatoly as mentaly unstable and in desperate need of help and socialization. If he wanted to hurt people he would have. Something is definitely off with a person who did what he did, but i dont believe he's a monster. Just a sick man who needs help
Punishment doesn’t solve anything. It perpetuates crime, it perpetuates trauma, and it ultimately creates more victims. Stop thinking with your outrage and start thinking with your damn brain.
Except it does. No murderous weirdo - no problem. Probably should made their death public and show it in steam, so other weirdos would think more before act.
Fun (?) fact: Charles Manson was a subject of MK Ultra. He'd become involved in it while in prison, and had been picked up several times before the infamous murders, but was let go for being a "government agent." Recently declassified documents have confirmed this.
[spoilers for Outlast II & Trials] Pretty sure the Charles Manson story also served as inspiration for Outlast 2, since the cult leader Sullivan Knoth used to be a Reagent in Sinyala [If You’re familiar with the character backstories, it’s pretty easy to connect the dots between him and Reagent 1616]
"Too long" he says... PFFFT! I would've easily watched a 2 hour long video on this stuff, lol. Great job dude! Would love to see more. Also, what's the movie right at the end?
Actually The Outlast Trials is really inspired by MKUltra. It felt like a game to showcase the harrowing tests the subjects were subjected to. Although not really exactly the real tests ran during MKULTRA, it really is an amazing game to reflect struggle during tough times.
MKULTRA+ MKNAOMI+ Pennsylvania wardens and a couple other things. Big guv majorly screwed over a ton of innocents in the name of nothing in particular (disguised as profit or national security).
All of the games are pretty much running the theme of CIA MK ultra. The first one was thrown off by the supernatural element but the Nazi scientist in the basement was on par with Operation Paperclip in real life. Outlast 2 was amazing because if I remember correctly, they used radio signals and other biblical "signs" to control a zealot and his inbred flock. I haven't played trials yet, and from what I've seen from streamers, it really looks like a CIA MK ultra killhouse after the first few experiments failed due to outside interference, i.e. the main character. Outlast trials feels more under the theme of SAW, Cube, and Hostel, but as I said, I haven't seen enough yet.
Pennhurst wasnt too far from where I grew up, and while now part of the campus has been resorted as a commercial haunted house venue, back when I was a teen it was just a ruin. One that plenty of kids snuck into, including myself and some friends. The really spooky thing about the place was how intact it was- when it was closed down they moved everything out in a rush, leaving a ton of stuff behind- furniture, decorations, office stuff, etc. According to some stories some patients were left behind as well, but I don't know about that. As for me and my friends, we did find a a compendium of a doctor's files on his patients. It was a trip- yellowed typewritter paper, the old names for mental illness... a horrifying relic of a different time.
I think I had already spoken to Nathan about this, but I can tell you Lucas too... Make a video about the iceberg of horror games, dark, macabre and disturbing. I think the research would be immense and the video would be laborious, but they could be divided into parts. ✌️
