A view from Australia …… there is so much to admire about Bernie Sander’s political perspective which aligns strongly with the left of centre policies that our Labor and Greens parties have here and in Europe. Thank you for your persistence in espousing common sense Bernie. America wastes so much money in supporting the BAU status quo resulting in erratic health provision and educational opportunities. The best is brilliant but many US citizens are left without adequate care and learning opportunities. I am not sure about the depth of understanding that far right American voters have about the term ‘socialist’. It’s perceived as being dangerous and derogatory. Anyone who has travelled to Scandinavian where social equity policies have been in place for decades can see the benefits of high taxation and the redistribution of money towards high class and affordable schools, hospitals, public transport systems, and innovative city design etc etc for everyone to enjoy. As you clearly highlight Bernie, the entrenched US political system only benefits the rich, as well as political lobbyists and companies that are resistant to change.

Bernie is one of the few politicians that actually cares about the common American.

Housing is out of my reach.So renting a room costs me over half of my income. After bills I'm $200.00 + overdrawned at the bank and pay 30 bucks each for every overdraft. It's a crummy way to live. I got to meet Bernie as a volunteer at one of his campaign stops in late 2019 and was struck by his humility. Most politicians are slick and egotistic, but Bernie really stressed to us that the work that needs to be done would not be accomplished by just getting the right man in office, but would require consistent effort from millions of caring people with shared goals. The more I think about our predicament now, the more I believe what he said then. Congress is corrupt, the U.S. empire is corrupt, but the human spirit persists. Regular people can and must make their voices heard and collaborate to devise independent ways of caring for and safeguarding the rights of those most vulnerable in our sick society
