Ya it's just not exciting. I love the randomness of keys and seeing different combinations of specs. But these last few seasons people just all play the same specs and some how all think they are Gods gift to gaming.

It is kinda weird how the wow community cares soo much more about meta then almost any other community i have been in. Especially since for the vast majority players it actually just dosent matter at all. Its soo very weird, they also tend too focus so much on the menial junk like stats instead of pressing the correct buttons.

Ya sadly this games community is it's biggest obstacle atm. These changes really illustrate that. They needed to make affixes to convince mediocre players to invite a different amount of specs lol. How crazy is that, that the game needs to be designed around players who are making their own lives harder already.

What games have you been playing? In my experience, the gaming scene as a whole has pushed further and further towards researching how to get the most favourable results. Take Baldur's gate 3 for example, a casual centric turn based game and go see how many youtube builds that are op pop up overnight even though you could sit back and play the game easily without that. I dont think it's a wow thing although the game being so old and so played I'm sure amplifies the shift even more

@@Wand422 They dooo all this "research", aka looking at things like wowhead and icyveins which arent even actually the best things too look at in the first place, and still play the spec absolutely horribly. If they actually just stuck too their main they would be significantly better and keys would essentially goo exactly the same because they are more then likely also not doing content where player that specific class even matters. Or a super classic is when people super hardcore cared about healer metas in sl where everyone wanted a Holy Pally during xpac start soo a ton of people played holy p and sucked at doing the main job of a healer aka HEALING. they all went venthyr did barely anything with it and wiped because their healing was trash.

@@heythereguysitsMetro Community is full of players that want too cosplay being a top teir player while they are doing 12s and dont even doo their main rotation correctly or stand in the first mechanic of a boss and die. Also the people wanting insane score and ilvl too do those keys is very strange aswell.

It’s also important to keep in mind that many of the hero talent trees add extra damage types to classes, such as warrior gaining access to more nature damage and deathbringer adding frost damage type to bdk. Theres also other damage types being added, such as Plague damage for deathstalker rogue and cosmic damage for fatebound rogue. I feel like with the spread of damage types being added, most classes will be able to shine in certain weeks. I do worry about weekly metas forming but the old mantra of "run your own key" will be more important than ever on weeks where you cannot take advantage of the damage type increase.

Visual noise and nameplate clutter likely referred specifically to Afflicted/Tormented (and explosive if it still existed).

Ya, sounds like they are talking about explosive. Really don't see how there is visual noise or nameplate clutter from any other affix right now. But either way, happy with the results for sure.

@@heythereguysitsMetro I think with previous seasons it's been a bit much sometimes? Like tormented/afflicted was not fun to have in the final boss of Underrot. The dungeon was still easy, but I definitely missed a couple in there just by virtue of there being so many health bars and the tank moving far enough when two spawned that nobody saw one spawn behind us. There's a couple other places where it can be a bit much. But I do agree it's usually not that cluttered in comparison to explosive. More than the visual clutter specifically, I'm just glad afflicted's gone from the pool. The higher keys got, there would be times where a debuff was lethal, and if your teammates didn't bring their dispels you had to heal one and in high keys the health bar usually meant 2-3 globals wasted into it. Lots of situations that were basically lose-lose unless your pugs actually handled it, and can't always rely on that.

Im pretty damn certain that chaos damage encompasses 5 of 7 spells schools of damage. That would make demon hunters and warlocks more likely to reap the benefits of affixes on any given week. So if theyre not tuned right, you have 2 spots that will be op right out the gate

DH yes, warlock if demo. Destro is mostly fire damage in AoE I believe, but it could be big prio target / chaos bolt target.

My buddy just reminded me it’s technically 6 because it also hits for physical damage classified as holy. Wild! Ill put my faith in blizz though to figure it out. Theres a bunch multi school magic types out there but chias is the outlier.

I would be okay with them doing tyannical/ fortifed and a seasonal affix and call it good. Seasonal affix like awakened changed the way you did the key and gave bonuses that affected everyone.

I doubt that's on the table. They want rotating dungeon affix combos to elongate the progression for players. So that every week is a bit different. If you have the same difficulty too often, people hit their wall faster and burn out quicker.

Agree... It brings to mind how, in Blizzards own words, they focus development on the most played, which leads to things like meta... still struggling with how DH tanks have so much utility (played most of all tanks)... Hopefully this will change that and like you said, change peoples attitudes on prioritising the same old boring meta for spots in a group, week in week out.

I like these affixes. They'll probably be like a 2% dps increase for those affected which is nothing. I do wish they made the +4 bucket the +7 bucket and got rid of those instead. Probably get rid of afflicted to keep it 4 and 4. Only problem is DH chaos damage counts as all damage types, so they'll be the FOTM if these stay.

I'm sure they would do something to balance chaos damage. But I think they chose to keep those affixes because those are the ones with the most mechanical interactions. Should be a lot more balanced now that its essentially just one affix rotating weekly.

@@amandarinorange91 Well we don't actually know which affixes they will pair together yet, so certainly gotta wait and see that before I get worried. Raging isn't a concern anymore at all either way to me, and bolstering only gets out of hand if both the tank AND the dps don't handle it well. Doubt it would be a big deal, you can always just kill the affected targets first too.

The philosophy of the changes are in a great direction imo, including for pugs. The numbers can be tuned to be irrelevant for pugs to sit and wait for specific specs and instead just invite the best applicants. So I pretty much disagree with gxxkc and think the opposite depending on tuning lol

@@heythereguysitsMetro they put themselves in a strong position with these tuning knobs honestly, like let’s say the standard meta is again spriest/mage/aug? They can just go in and adjust the damage increase from their damage types to be lower and raise the “under performing” or “under represented” specs. Not saying do this on a weekly basis but to be able to do that over the course of a season puts them in a good spot to better to be able to make adjustments to tuning without actually touching the specs themselves

I feel like there are a lot of positive changes coming to The War Within, but they sure missed the mark with this one. All though removing afflicted and incorporeal is a very good change, the new affixes are all just terrible. Punishing the tank has never been fun or healthy for the game, plus having different damage types on weekly basis is just the wrong direction. Good luck getting invited as a Fire Mage on an Arcane week, because at the end of the day people are hard-wired to min-max everything possible, it is the culture now. I'm welcoming to all types of new changes, but Blizzard doubling down on the affix system as it is now is a massive blow to the most of the community that is basically begging for affixes to be reworked massively or to be completely removed. Majority of people are tired of having the same system for 8 years now, and with these new affixes they've made it worse.

This is as close to removing affixes as they are ever gonna do. They basically explained that in the post. Please try to be more optimistic about this change before you actually try it though. This could be very good for the pug world.

@@heythereguysitsMetro Unfortunately I can't stay optimistic, because I know they can do a lot better, and they should have since as of lately they are experimenting with changes, and most of them are overwhelmingly positive. This is basically the same system but made a lot worse. I've been playing the game more seriously since BfA, I cannot name 3 mobs that have mana, and it's not just me. 99.9% of the player base can't do that either, and for some reason they decided to keep bolstering and sanguine, probably the two most hated affixes in the game right now. I'm on the side of affixes, I want them in the game, but something needs to be reworked. Because honestly, this is unacceptable, doubling down on something universally hated is kinda wild.

I was really hoping they would continue with the difficulty changes into tww, I'm not sure about those affixes though but time will tell i guess. More so hoping they are ready to change them or replace them if they don't work.

Ya I guess I would not consider that noise. To me noise means things that are not clear or well defined. Sanguine has a buff you just look at, the visual on the ground doesn't matter haha

Ret paladin is like 100% holy damage, even autoattacks with most builds, and dh does chaos damage which counts as holy. Havoc dh is going to be OP with these affixes

The pugging aspect won't effect me much because I'm on a team. But I gotta be honest I've just been reading these like... these are all just healer affixes. I'm a dedicated healer for my m+ team and my raid team, it doesn't matter how bad it gets I will always heal because that's what I'm passionate about and I'm damn good at it. But I feel really bad for players who aren't at the top fraction of a percent like I am with a dedicated team and don't play 8-16 hours a day. Like... it's already the least played role with tank and all of this stuff is just putting more stress on those two roles. The top % will always just role with the punches but man I feel bad for the bottom 50%. Or even bottom 70%. You know only 30% of people who even DO m+ have KSM right now? Dude those are like... 4s and a couple 6s... we look at a 12 or a 14 as a warmup and the majority of the playerbase is fighting for their fucking life in a 3. Giving caster mobs permanent lust or non casters thorns just gonna wreck havoc on unorganized low pugs that already aren't CCing or pressing their defensives.

I wonder why they completely revamped the mid-tier affixes, but left all of the high tier ones alone? the higher ones are the ones most people complain about aren't they? it would have been nice to see some of those go honestly.

Those are the ones that are the on death interactions. They have the most impact and agency on the dungeon. Essentially, the affixes that are the most important. Complaining isn't really relevant here. The community complains about everything so no way to act on it all.

at the end of the day these 4 new affixes won't change the meta comp all that much. Imagine now for instance in ruby life pools with all the casters then sure the attuned and focused affix will affect that dungeon a lot since those mobs take 10% ore damage but then go to a dungeon like brackenhide or neltharus that has less casters in general and it won't be very impactful. People have to read the actual full text. itøs not all mobs taking 10% increase so it's not 10% more damage to some specs it's 1 mob in every or maybe every other pack that takes 10% increased damage so the overall increase is maybe like 0,5 - 2% damage increase at the end of the dungeon. To me the +4 affixes are basically non-affixes that people are going crazy over, what really annoys me is the +7 affixes, cause now every other week will be either bolstering or sanguine and oh boy is it going to suck to be a tank in TWW if this goes live.

Imo bolstering is unfair as a tank and sanguine is exhausting, so I want to see them less often, but frankly the fact that 6/13 classes cannot touch afflicted makes their reasoning behind removing that row of affixes obvious.

Considering they want these expansions to be shorter potentially I am not a big fan of them returning 4 old dungeons to the seasonal pool and now they replace the other 4 current expansion dungeons in heroic and m0 for that season doesnt feel right because if they do away with season 4 you only get the all current expansion dungeon pool for season 3 only. Most of the dungeons coming out in the new expansion are really fun and cool thematically so it just feels bad in missing out on doing some of them for a few months because a season replaces them with old dungeons. The affix changes are interesting in the removal of afflicted, incorporeal and spiteful which were very annoying to me as a healer in a group. Afflicted I could dispel one of them but when other dps had a dispel and didnt use it I was forced to have to target the afflicted and heal it manually and since blizzard limits addons I had to focus the target first to get it on my heal frames so I could mouse over heal it. Incorporeal was the same with dps ignoring CC'ing the affix or all of them going for the same one. Spiteful was annoying for mana breaks after trash and having to wait for it to die and then drink felt bad for holding the rest of the party up. The new passive affixes are what people in general asked for when it came to kiss curse affixes where its a negative but also a positive in helping the party out to clear the dungeon in time, like it was mentioned in the video I do agree on the part where it will incentivize groups to bring other classes and not stack the same comp each week like we saw for the past few season in Dragonflight.

Good thoughts! I feel like rotating dungeons make the overall expansion worse. But I love these changes. This solves a big problem I have with the system.

Given tank damage has been significant in dungeons for a long time, that gives a 4th slot in the group for balancing a comp across all 4 affixes. So, you could probably come up with a stable, single comp for a consistent group. In a weird way, having diverse damage school options could be valuable in such a group, to increase the ability to double-up on bonus damage. For the top end, it probably means that you'd need 2-4 alts ready for high end pushing, so you can swap upwards of 4 benefiting classes to push the highest levels. If this change is something that was known about early enough in the design, talents and hero talents could have been designed around it to make this relatively balanced across classes... but I highly doubt that this was known before some classes/specs were more or less finalized (and forgotten) during TWW development. I think it also bears repeating that these bonuses do NOT apply to every enemy in the dungeon, and never apply to bosses. That means its not a full 10% difference, and depending on dungeon mob composition, it could be much lower, further reducing how much this should affect the meta - you know, before people over-react to it and exacerbate it each week in pugs.

@@DunielCD hmm ya chaos damage is technically all magic fields together. Will be interesting to see how it factors into this affix. Because it would be super op comparatively atm.

@@heythereguysitsMetro It would be op with no changes, but they could just easily do a 5 or 10% aura nerf to havoc if it's too strong, given they're willing to do it, and it'll affect havoc for all weeks

i like the idea that affixes are "embedded" within the gameplay of the dungeon (rather than things that happen separate from the dungeon itself a la storming, spiteful, incorp etc). however, though i appreciate the thought i am not too keen on the spell school specific damage increases. people are already bringing up that chaos damage (dh and i believe warlock) covers ALL of the affixes. the thought of mages spec swapping depending on week is amusing. interesting too that some spell schools are actually combos of different schools. disc and i believe holy priests deal fire damage, which isnt considered much seems like its a response to people that asked for affixes to not mandate certain specs/classes (raging brings a soothe, preferably an evoker. bursting with old mass dispel), and instead of addressing that they tried to throw every spec a bone. also considering how trinkets work with this, like a tome-style (arcane) would fill the gap. i don't have beta though and haven't looked into trinket options for s1 much i think the meta will only be as fluid as we hope as it is at the top end, as evidently people just run whatever comp is popular at the very top in their mid level pugs without considering why that comp is good at the highest level. if specs taken to top keys are always changing, it'll trickle down to lower end keys.

Ya trinkets and gearing will be a big part of this. I'd certainly wait until there is clarification on chaos damage. That's obviously going to be over powered so wouldn't be surprised if they made a specific change for that type of damage

I like incorporeal and I'm going to miss it. As somebody who mains warlock, with paladin and hunter alts, solo CCing both spirits makes me feel like I'm having a massive impact on the group. Similar with afflicted on my paladin, but I'm not sad to see that go. It's horrible pugging afflicted on my lock.

First person I've ever seen say they like those. Not joking. So happy they're going away, actually cc/dispelling them isn't the issue, it's locating and mousing over them during a huge pull or damage event in a boss fight. They're way too difficult to see and actually target/mouseover, especially when they spawn inside large boss models like the last boss in AV; that shouldn't even be possible imo, it's completely unfair.

Having incredibly strong classes dominate the meta like spriest isn't fun, but the obvious fix is to attempt to balance specs effectively instead of some shitty "you deal 10% more damage this week" affix. As a dps player, you're are going to have a negative reaction to the affix 3/4th of the time; that doesn't seem like very good game design.

See that's the problem with the community here. You view not being buffed as a negative because you are too worried about competing with each other instead of competing against the content. That's why I'm so interested in seeing how this plays out. Gonna really force some players into some awkward situations.

@@heythereguysitsMetro but we are competing with each other when it comes to finding groups. That's the problem. There are not enough healers and tanks for all the DPS to find groups. It quickly becomes a zero sum game where 10% of the players are getting 90% of the invites. Playing a class that isn't meta is like being an average looking dude on Tinder.

@@heythereguysitsMetro It is 100% a competition for DPS players to find groups. All these affixes will do is greatly lessen your chances at winning that competition 75% of the time (with some classes exceptions to this). I'd wager people will even put specific classes in their group titles based on which type of damage is buffed that week.

How about something that promotes good gameplay. If you interrupt a cast gain 10% damage for 10 sec. If you dispel an effect gain 10% main stat for 10 sec. After killing an enemy gain 3% move speed for 6 sec stacking to 30%. Gain 10%haste for 10 sec when dodging an aoe cast. Shit like that would be much better imo.

An elemental shaman's lightning bolt does nature damage. They also do frost and especially fire damage. They could be good to do m+ with.

I really like this, so no one spec is going to be locked in the meta for the entire season (shadow priest), even if x spec is better than others by a few % maybe this week arcane mages do a lot more damage same thing for Assa rogue or feral druids, maybe we see more specs in the top 100 depending on the week other than the 5 specs we see now. Also people in the top 0.1% might actually gear alts to play in specific weeks which will make it more fun to watch. I also see how this might suck if you only play 1 character and you said character is not good this week but well you win some you lose some

You are the first one, that likes the changes. I, for myself, like those changes too. Sadly a lot of ppl don't read the post correctly. Those buffs to dmg every week, will only affect specific mobs and not be overall on the non-boss enemies. I like that they are willing to change a lot of things for S1. WoW players complained about the affixes being bad, now they change them, it is bad...... Overall for the pool of ppl that want to get into m+, this change will be healthy to reduce the 300h wait-time to get into parties, especially for specs and classes that have no abilities to deal with incorp or afflicted. Would it have been nice to have player feedback about possible affixes, yeah. But I like that they are experimenting.

A lot of the people reacting are competitive players and they know this is going to make their life harder so they are instantly negative about it. Sadly a lot of those same players also don't enjoy the challenges mythic plus presents them anymore. You can see a lot of their opinions are derived from ease of pushing vs overcoming challenges. That's why I liked growls post so much. Dude is legit one of the only people who actually had a level head when it comes to bleeding edge gameplay.

XD I maybe really on the copium high but I think those changes are actually healthy for the game. Looking back how many videos criticized the affixes, getting new changes is just awesome. I hope that more new players will join in m+ now also with those changes, but again, I fear it is the hopium kicking in.

Havoc DH currently does chaos damage, particularly with Any Means Necessary talent, that's all non-physical damage types. These affixes as they currently are will be benefitting them every week. Unless that is changing wtih TWW?

I like the changes. people already seek out a certain comp, it just lasts for months instead of a week. I can still get into groups as an enhance shaman when the meta is shadow priest/mage etc. now at least there's more of a revolving door that changes how bad/good each spec is relative to another.

These feel like affixes to replace Fortified. Whether they either be a non issue or absolute hell depends on how Blizzards tunes the dungeons and classes. I kind of want to see testing to see how they function in a pug scenerio.

Another thing that I'm worried about is like right now sophic devotion as a weapon enchantment is like 3-5k how bad will the price start to become when you get alienated unless you get some type of damage in chat with corresponding to that week which there's only Shadow radiant add nature

They basically kept the hardest ones and that makes a lot of sense. The reason some affixes stand out as bad is because there are some that are too easy. Now the only difficulty comes from that type of affix so it will be more balanced.

The problem with raging sanguine and bolster is not about difficulty. It’s about fun, which you don’t have with those. They don’t incentivice creative play or working with the dungeon. They just hoping blizzard doesn’t design packs with 1 big one that can’t be moved and a lot of small ones that apply on death affixes.

The m+ affixes new ones heavy favour specific classes however there is 1 tank will gain 10% more often than rest and that’s guardian it does a lot of arcane and bleed in war within

#1 tank will be VDH since he buffs the affix with chaos brand. And without any tuning (Nerfs to the kit assuming similar power level to other tanks) that specc will be meta again anyways.

Unfortunately the actual power these affixes grant won't be relevant as whether they're impactful or not player perception will make it very difficult for the classes that don't benefit from the current weeks damage buff to get into pugs, even if the damage difference is minor. Not a fan of these affixes and they didn't remove sanguine like I was hoping they would.

This feels like trying to heal a gaping wound with a band-aid... though don't get me wrong as I'm not against them looking at kiss / curse affixes. It's just that I don't think these will have as much of an impact on class / spec participation as they think. Plus there will be pushback if the talent / hero build they'd have to use isn't enjoyable to play compared to the one they usually use. In any case until they do something about buffs and utility availability, groups will always gravitate towards picking the requisite classes. [mage / priest / druid and to a lesser extent paladin]

You are right about the fun part for sure. The rest, I would dispute. Right now, pugs pick very bad players over and over again simply because they are playing something that should THEORETICALLY be good. They never are, and some how they all have the same if not higher score than the group. This tells you that the pug world value theoretical gains over any actual reality. So whether it has an impact or not in reality is unlikely to matter here.

@@heythereguysitsMetro That was sort of my point. Abilities such as heroism, mark of wild, battleres, dispel and stamina buff have become "theoretical" must haves irrespective of the key level. Therefore the primary classes that everyone recognises as bring them are favoured. That's not to say if hunters, for example, do a lot of damage on paper then people won't switch to using them for bloodlust instead. I also would agree that the meta also has an impact, especially at the moment due to the insane amount of stops needed to minimise risk. As a fury warrior I count myself lucky to have a group as pugging at the key level I normally play at would be an exercise in futility.

I'm just stoked they removed the most annoying affixes of this season like "Storming" (as a melee dps and probably tank), "Incorporeal" and "Afflicted" which are almost unanimously frowned upon. Entangling i never had an issue with but it could certainly mess up certain mechanic timings on bosses on tyrannical where positional requirements was important, like the Teera and Maruuk encounter where people need to stack for the Gale Arrow ability.

Doesn’t it make tanking even more tedious with these changes? We after all are the ones taking all the damages and we have to suit 4 different routes based on the week group preference: Go left because more mana mobs, go right because no mana mobs, skip these because not enough…. Plus all the increase damage from mobs doesn’t affect much the rest, mostly the tank.

taking more damage constantly means you won't be playing any differently. If anything, it's the healer who has to play differently because the tank will need more healing on those weeks.

Tedious, no. Skill based, yes. It could have a big impact on route, but it wont be because of these things. PRESUMABLY the affix is meant to be powerful enough to offset it. You would probably be being pressured by the DPS more than anything. Which isn't that exciting of a prospect, but I mostly ignore it anyway now, so no real concern to me.

IT's interesting, but Windwalker actually has a LOT of abilities that inflict nature damage. And even more that we don't currently pick (or at least I assume will not be picks based on my limited beta experience). I could, concievably lean into nature damage for one week and lean into physical damage on another week. This is kind of pumped up by Conduit of the celestials seeming to be almost exclusively nature damage and shado pan being almost exclusively physical damage and BOTH seem to be buffing healing to some degree. So I think I could make an argument for being viable on most of those weeks. The thing that really bothers me, is thorned as a lot of my current damage profile on the beta, is passive AoE. I am definitely going to have to look at what I can do to minimize that for thorned weeks. I also think, and my memory may be a bit hazy here because of the amount of disconnects I suffered trying to explore this, but there are a number of "adds x but reduces y damage profile" armours I saw on the vendors and some foods and potions that do the same so possibly consumables might factor into bolstering picks that do not normally fit whaatever the damage profile of the current affix set is. I am kind of eager to test it. All that being said I will have a level 80 set up and ready to go on the max level realm if you want a pocket DPS who can do those keys with you and give you a different perspective. I intend to stream it too. Let me know if you want to do a dual stream of it with us in voice or even if you just want to hit them together. I will do my best to learn stuff as quick as possible as I plan to put a bunch of time in queuing for those beta dungeons on Tuesaday and Wednesday so I don't get lost at least lol.

They are a VERY weak pug spec, but the stuff they bring is mostly brought in concert with advanced strategies and concern. Things like Mind Soothe and Vampiric Embrace never have any impact in the keys I do, so you are basically left with a terrible ranged utility kit and a dps that COULD be high, if people actually play it well. But some one no one does, and they all finish third overall in my keys.

But how important really is 10% increased damage on lets say 50% of trash in average.When we take bosses damage into account also, that will mean around 3% bigger overall. Thats not important very much for majority of keys. Maybe only for the very top, but then again for very top it would be nice if dps chsnges week by week, since now its always same 5 specs.

I’m holding my judgement until I play the new affixes, but first impressions has the tank in me crying. Ignoring armor, more magic damage, faster casts…I feel like these combined with things like bolstering/fortified will rip tanks faces off. But I’m not going doom yet, enough people are doing that! Besides that, the rest of the changes I think are awesome. I love the new mythic difficultly rework.

i think the one thing you didnt touch on that will effect you poorly is the week where the mobs ignore 20% of your armor. i imagine your 1 shot potential as a bdk will increase and that may result in the community not inviting bdk as much. just like how the week tanks take 20% more magic dmg might harm bear, warrior, and monk tanks more in the same regards.

@@Telados I mean every tank still has their active mitigation. I was just thinking since everyone says warrior takes no physical damage it's obviously because of the high amount of armor they have. So it would make a way bigger impact on them than blood in that situation.

I don't think it will matter that much in the grand scheme of the dungeon damage profile, especially compared to the different class raid buffs that they bring. Well, except for havoc being good for all 4 of them plus chaos brand I guess. The small extra damage you can get from your week on a "weaker" class won't compete with the damage of the top end classes. It looks lke this is trying to breakup the very topend groups being the same every week. But, I am glad they are experimenting and trying things out. This has the potential to be really good after testing and more feedback worked into it. And Afflicted/Incorp are gone for now so that's always a plus.

Hmm not sure I agree that a weaker class would be this far behind theoretically. Most people think that because no one plays these specs in my experience. But right now, DPS output is really balanced, despite the meta not reflecting that. This should really help with that.

@@heythereguysitsMetro I rechecked the graphs and you are right. I guess my mind got poisoned by seeing the wild dps schisms when I'm tanking so it's more of an "issue" to me. Just got to blame those pesky fire mages I guess. But I do like how these are more always active and affects everyone in some way and not you can't help incorp or afflicted so we wipe depending on your spec. Still hyped for TWW and can't wait to see what's in store for the rest of the DK talent changes.

Like the HoI mini boss before the final one with that amount of extra damage, some specs might just die even more now at a certain key level with their 1 to 2 defensives. But it's just a numbers thing at the end of the day ,not mechanical, and hopefully they can balance it out.

They are getting rid of the good affixes and keeping the worst ones. Raging forces you to use a dragon or ass rogue, bolstering and sanguine are both still terrible affixes, bursting stops to matter once the healers reach a certain skill level.

Because there are only 5 affixes in that bucket to start with. Can't remove TWO. They chose the 4 that are the most balanced across from each other. Very smart change. Bolstering is a non issue too. People just suck at it. It used to be sooooo much worse.

10% increase is nothing. Won’t change anything. If shadow is doing 40% more than a mage a 10% buff to mage isn’t going to help. The fact that affixes that made people mad are gone is sweet. So many times I’m in a key either the only one doing the affix or people are just yelling at each other as they do them.

That's why I'm so excited for it. Because the pug world already obsesses about dumb stuff. They WILL obsess over this meaning there will actually be a better diversity of specs brought. I can't wait to see how it plays out. Blizzard going this route is basically saying "we know many of you out there are not intelligent enough to fix this problem for yourself, so we will change what you are focused on." Its genius!

They will have to now, that's the genius here. They removed all the imbalanced ones that make these ones look bad by comparison. Now the only difficulty of affixes will funnel through these affixes, so people will HAVE to learn how to do them well to succeed.

These damage buffs are very small. Remember: its a ~10% damage type buff with the possible exception of bleed, divided by half the trash mobs, and doesn't work on bosses. This is less than a 5% dps buff assuming 100% of your damage qualifies. It's very small. No one is going to invite people based on the damage buff of the week. The bigger take is the affixes we lost and how these new affixes might make some mobs more dangerous.

@@Quiet_9 well that's why I'm so interested in it. The meta is betraying the pug world right now. People constantly invites priest and mage and they all suck. I'm hoping the same thing will happen with classes weekly and that can make the world of pugging more diverse. But you may be more right than I am. We shall see!

There will be far more dead weeks for people pugging. They also didn't remove any of the affixes that slow down a dungeon, so I'm not sure why you'd think there will be less dead weeks.

as far as spamming dungeons goes for loot. no one cares about getting most slots. its getting specific slots, and only a few dungeons drop those slots in the loot table. if you can do all the content or at least M+ then there is no problem but if you are only doing M0 then your only chance for loot in that slot is limited to ~1-3 dungeons a week depending on what slot it is. personally speaking, the best pve option for these players is to do pvp and farm conquest, because this would get them guaranteed loot in those specific slots. if PvE had a gear vendor that worked similar to pvp the the problem of loot lock outs would go away.

The players in the situation I was describing were fresh characters describing the gearing process through 0 to be frivolous to them, and that they just go right to 2s because they can spam them. Obviously everyone needs all gear slots at that point, so don't appreciate you trying to blanket that statement away like that. Furthermore, if you are worried about getting a specific slot from a zero you probably are wasting your time. Just get enough ilvl to move into keys, especially ones that drop max ilvl gear before you start farming. Trying to farm out your BIS trinket at multiple levels of difficulty is probably fun for most people, but certainly not a valid thing to complain about if you are CHOOSING to do that.

The new affixes are really cool and promotes diversity amongst all the specs. Cant be fire and spriest and dominate all the time. And of course fotm players dont like it cause theyre gonna be outdpsed by “dogshit” specs. Cant reroll and get max gear in a couple days lol! Love it

Especially since the Hero-Talents, Druid of the Claw and Elunes Chosen the Tank does even more Additional Arcane Damage :>

World first race will be a bit different and a little longer now with the lock outs. Wont know what the META for mythic+ now until a full rotation if you think about it. Funny how many players just rip what World First Raider's do and call it there own. Down to every add-on and Aura. But the class and spec specific weeks now? Shield tank (block)week? Guardian Druid week? Triple rogue week? without testing we sort of already know which ones will be brought from your video and thread read. I don't know but it will destroy the META comps which is a plus. Boss fights will be so much better now without over lapping BS that just waste BR and taking away from healing the group. Personal affixes should just be in tournaments in my opinion or separate realms. Take the toxic with them. I also did a couple of +10...got basically what i would get in a +8. Folks had higher IO and far more accomplishments than me. Still found myself soloing tank mobs and and bosses. Nothing different. I watch you a lot man don't stop! I get my lore fix from Accolon and Pyromancer. P.S. EVERYONE MAKE AN AUG NOW! play it safe for the off weeks from your main.

For the non-damage increase parts of the changes, I really like thorned since as a healer, it's usually very boring on certain trash pulls as a healer if everything is stopped or interrupted. It's why I like healing low keys: people fail more mechanics, and I get to do more healing. I don't think any of these are gonna affect tanks that much. If I'm not doing world first or near world first keys, the primary reason why I die is not doing my rotation correctly. I don't usually feel 1 stack of bolstering. I don't think I'm gonna feel 20% increased magic damage taken, as much as it sounds, and I'm probably not feeling the melee haste from mobs that are probably just casting anyway. Hopefully when they say "flex towards different talents, gearing options, and consumables," it's followed up with class and hero talent trees that do enable changes to damage schools, or phials with different effects and schools. Maybe even a phial to change your biggest spender's damage school or something, but I doubt it. The +7 affix bracket being as it is will certainly be challenging. All of them are annoying, but I may be one of the few people who prefer to have them over not (except for raging). 10% damage increase is a bit, but it only affects certain trash mobs and doesn't affect bosses it seems at all. If bosses take up a quarter of the time of a run and there's no combat downtime and half of all trash is mana and half is the other, the damage increases will only amount to 3.75% overall also assuming all damage is of the school buffed, which is one or two minutes off the timer. In addition, you probably want all the trash dying at around the same time anyway, which all +7 affixes promote. I can't say for what people will do with these changes. I doubt that it's going to highly affect invites more than inviting dps to groups based on utility like stops or raid buffs, although it's just up to community perception at that point. I'd much rather take another disease dispel for brakenhide than 10% - 5% increased damage on some trash.

Ragardless of all the affixes, why change that the on deathaffixes come in at 10. It’s so much fun this season to farm gear on alts because you don’t have to deal with all the bullshit in lower keys. I guess i wont play alts next season then, too bad. To the point of affixes, when does blizzard understand that people want to play the DUNGEONS and not the affixes. With a rotating dungeon pool and a infinite scaling system there is no need for affixes. Especially the +7 bucket that artificially limits both dungeon and class design. Uldaman is a bad example but let’s go with that. If you are not bringing a Evoker on Raging weeks (especially fort) you are just trolling. While on the other hand it would be nice to have someone who can use bleed dispel (yes bad example) on the second boss, or bring a stun. Or let’s say Brackenhide, bringing a big slow for the mobs that run away is nice, but wait, there is raging. Make dungeons promote utility, not affixes.

Terrible changes. Blizzard continues their war against their players and their ability to analyze performance with logs. The dps will likely not matter too much at the end but tanks and healers will likely need weakauras to track the negative effects. Of course, how can there be a meta if nobody knows whats going on.

Here to show my tank bias again- but I think the new affixes are great. I also hate playing with fotm players and this will nerf the casual player from being able to do that. I have a feeling though that this could shift player behavior in an even more degen way. The mega hardcores will have their rotating comps for each week of affix to min max it and the casuals will just meta slave that new degen playstyle and will just stop having a main character altogether. This is honestly just one of those decisions where I'm actually more interested to see how players react to it than anything else. Are the fotm dps players just gonna cry on twitter until blizzard changes it like they did with mop remix? Will the fotm dps players completely melt down and actually have their heads explode in real life? Will this kill meta slaving? Find out on the next episode of retail world of warcraft.

"If you play a shadow priest on the 3 weeks they don't have shadow buff, you're going to do 10 percent less damage." Yes, and specs in that position won't get invited until their week rolls around. Which will make people not play the game until it's their week. And what are you going to keep checking until it's your week? Or just not buy a sub because it becomes a burden to play. Also, Metro how are you going to go about adjusting your routes week to week around this? Imagine the hilarious arguments people will have over routes! Enemy spellcasters on lust weeks will need to be skipped, or you will NEED a DH. Which means all other tanks take a seat for the week. I just see this failing miserably Imo. But we will see. I like the idea of forcing some inclusion but what they're doing is excluding to gain inclusivity.

new affixes are bad for the pug scene. and not even that cool. hope they change their minds on these. enters almost the same problem as incorp and afflicted. although those were more required to deal with compared to this just being an optional but not so optional for people trying to join keys. pushes a caster meta even farther in the minds of pugs. very bad for the game overall. and the majority of feedback they are getting is negative on it. deserved imo

These Changes are incredibly tone deaf and brings Blizzard right back to bring completely out of touch with it's player base again. Clearly no thought has been put into how these affixes stack. I can't wait for a fort, raging week with casters mobs having a perma lust and becoming un-Cc'able. Not to mention with what's been removed vs what's left, 75% of our weeks are going to be either on Raging, Bolstering or Sanguine - 3 terrible affixes that are all widely despised at the lower and higher end of keys. So out of all weeks the one we get to look forward to the most is bursting which is a low key pug killer. Good luck to anyone in the 7-9 range. I also want to mention tanks being an under represented role. Not only is that true and not only do all of these +7 affixes add more pressure and thinking to the tanking role, because of how they stack with the new affixes it's going to make routing a nightmare. Think about this. Fort week 1 you have mobs ignoring your Armor with Bolstering you will need to route accordingly. Now it's fort week 2 and it's now raging with the increased haste on caster mobs - you're going to have to change the route to facilitate not pulling as many casters. Tanks are genuinely going to need probably 2+ routes for fort and 2+ routes for tyrannical for each dungeon. That just makes tanking even harder to get into for a new player and outs even more pressure and load on a role already struggling for numbers. The one up side I can see being is that it will reward good tanks more. If you adapt to the increase demand and pressure you will likely have far more agency in how your key goes when pugging and it will really differentiate the good tanks from the rest

@@heythereguysitsMetro I think he does actually have a solid point on tanks needing to learn more routes and actually plan for each week. That could definitely be a barrier to entry for some tanks. For me personally I think that's actually one of the fun aspects of tanking, you get to have agency on a route you take through the dungeon as the leader. That's what I loved so much about the last patch of BFA with the gates. You had so much agency choosing your route. But I can see how this would be daunting for newer or less experienced tanks.

​@@heythereguysitsMetro people who rely on external game tools are inherently bad at the game. and you pretty much answered your own question about why i am commenting about addons, because "they will NEVER be removed". are you capable to correlate the statement of the 2 in-between clash of conflicting addons versus bad players? why are you so vehemently relying on something that isnt part of the game you play? why would you of all people defend rejects who produce invasive code that takes advantage of people's predispositions that prove to be lackluster or below average without it? how come you havent realized of what kind of a player you would be if not for the fuzzy feeling that an external combat tool gives you? go ahead justify the lack of correlation between addons and skill in your next key where you use training wheels addons to time a 10 with a tank specialization that is specifically designed to be immune to death criticality. if i had to combine every single decision of the average player in the graph of normal distribution, you would be at the top of normalcy just by choosing a tank that softens the blows of the mythic plus difficulty the most. you would be among a large number of other meta-seeking non-motive players who take external tools and decisions as the avenue of building their personality. ps. what triggered my comment, was a commenter i saw below sarcastically saying that he is glad to be possibly dealing with bolstering and fortified with raging if i recall correctly. i HOPE that is the case, because that is the only internal tool which will underline the necessity of change in the game. being a tank player is so broken as of now because of this massive tank disparity, that the only step forward is a radical further inequality. you only see demon hunters in any tanking setting and it is sickening.

Their view of a positive affix is actually a negative because just like Incorporeal and Afflicted certain classes will be viewed as useless on some weeks and will just get insta declined for pugs as people will want the mets specs / classes for that week.

Ya that's why I said what I said. It's gonna cause some wild stuff to happen but likely will backfire towards their goal. Which is sad because it's basically them saying they know they can't fix players being meta slaves in easy content, and these are the results hah. I for one am very eager to see how it plays out.

You're only looking at about 5% damage increase on trash in the best case scenario. This is wildly preferable to affixes like afflicted where a bad comp will mean multiple wipes to the affix.

@@samward1317 When you see pugs this season wanting aug evokers for +2's and non meta specs spending hours trying to get an invite to a key or trying to run their own key and getting no sign ups this will only go one way and not a good way for specs that are not giving that 5% damage increase for that week, this would be the same if the damage increase was proven to be only 1%.
