I'll be honest whenever I complain that a character needs to be nerfed it's because I want to play them but the noble side of me doesn't want to play a character that can do everything but the childhood side of me wants to play that character because he/she looks cool.

Spitting facts!! I always love your guides because you always give specific and practical advice every video! Multiversus is my first platform fighting game and these tips help me a lot (Mainly not running away and giving up or blaming it on a "bad match-up"). In 1v1s or 2v2s I always go for a rematch especially the games where I lost horribly because I know I'm going to learn the most from those games. If my teammate is shit, then it's giving me a chance to learn how to carry harder (I challenge myself to try to do more damage and confirm kills much faster than the enemies could even if it becomes like a 1v2 scenario.) I think I still have a lot to learn and improve on but even without trying so hard I'm reaching top 10,000 in 1v1s in multiple characters (I know it's against the "stick to one character" tip, but it helps me better understand matchups and what moves/skills they have and what they're trying to do if I play that character myself) One more thing that really helped me is watch tournament vods! (Or your favorite streamers/RU-vidrs) Analyze the player's combo starters, combo finishers, combos in general, how they confirm kills, what situations they decide to 1v1 or to help their teammate, which moves/skills they use at which time, how they edge guard, how they avoid edge guards, etc. Focus on your main and look at their decision making. If you were in the same situation, would you have gone for that same move? If not, why not? Why do you think this player went for this move instead? There's a reason why Nakat and VoiD were able to 6-0 the Velma Bugs duo and this mindset is why!!!

Great video. Some of the music transitions were a lot louder than Nakat, which was a bit jarring from an editing perspective. The first point brought up is the most interesting to me in that I find there's a hard balance of not relying on buffs/nerfs but also not playing something I'm not enjoying anymore. I play games to have a fun, but I also have fun in competing. In competition, I feel inspired to overcome overpowered characters or stick with a character I feel they underperform, but outside of that sphere if I am straight up just not enjoying the game anymore then I do not feel an obligation to keep playing it. Nakat mentioned that characters can kill a game then showed Bayonetta and I think that's a good example of where the enjoyment of the game is lost in both playing and competing. The frustration that comes with competing can be fun in and of itself, but if that frustration takes away from the fun of the game entirely then I don't see anything wrong with wanting to take a step back. That's a moving, subjective target for each person but I found that first point to be particularly thought provoking. Good stuff.

The thing about gaming now is that we are at the point in every gaming community where you can't just turn on the game and win. In every games it seems that you have to sit up and deeply analyze the game because everyone is so good at gaming at this point.
@kamikeserpentail3778
@kamikeserpentail3778 Год назад
Number 1 goes along with something I always say. Tier lists don't matter. At low levels you can always overcome the small differences in strength, and at high levels you've already commit to what you're doing you're not going to change because of other people. Plus I'm too stubborn to follow the meta. For practice sometimes I forget it... When I played Starcraft 2 there were times where I'd focus just on the minimap, or macro, or micro. But it is fun to mix it up and play other characters or whatever, and I find it can be helpful in more clearly seeing their weaknesses when other people exploit what worked well against you. I dunno though, I get to mid diamond in most games, but I struggle to go higher usually. I enjoy being competitive, and definitely rage sometimes when I'm getting bodied (usually at myself), but I can't bring myself to stick with only one character, or only one game even.

@hueycotton
@hueycotton Год назад
This was a really good video because it essentially preaches the idea of having a good competitive mentality. I learned all this getting my ass beat in smash locals and it changed my life in a way. When I see a challenge, I understand that bitching about it being annoying won't help and the only way to get through it is to deal with it. Don't get me wrong, I still complain lol But I complain while also knowing that there's probably an answer and that I need to adjust what I'm doing. The only thing that gets in the way of playing properly is my own preset ideas of how the game is supposed to be played. You can say things like "I wouldn't play like that, it's too lame." but if you wanna win, sometimes lame is optimal. Also remember that this shit is supposed to be fun. That's a huge thing we lose sight of. Good luck improving boys.

The one character rule is true for most competitve games. Brawlers are new for me, I come from a Tekken background and in that game we always recommend to choose the character you feel is the coolest or best fit for you and stick with it until you've understood the fundamentals and actually know how to play the game. So for me I picked up WW as my main and then I picked up HQ as my secondary just to switch it up from time to time because playing the same character over and over can get a bit repetitive but my HQ is nowhere near as good as my WW and thats ok.

I'm just starting the video I really hope "take a break" isn't on the list! edit- Okay, so this definitely isn't the video I was hoping for. I feel like this is more of a "Fighting Game Theory" video and less of a "how to get better at this specific game, which is what I was hoping for, personally. When you brought up learning how to edge guard I was like "oh shit, here we go!" but then it was just like "practice what you're bad at" which IS great advice, but you can't tell people to practice what they're bad at without showing them how to be better at it, ya know? I hope this post didn't come across as disrespectful. Love your vids. thanks for taking the time and energy to drop this. Peace!
