I'm new to swimbaits and grabbed up ghost shad rage swimmers in 3.75 and some 6th sense treble line through heads on sale to try out this year. I can't wait!
My wife drags that chartreuse and blue keitech color and catches the keepers while I catch the smaller ones. 😂😂😂. Oh well! Great thoughts on the limited colors.
Two of my favorite keitech fat impact colors are bluegill flash ( caught a ton on them ) and silver flash minnow . I have done really well with both of them but the bg flash really does it for me
I have started pouring my own soft plastics, so I can create my own color combos. I agree with your colors 100, but like to add differing flakes, pearl efftects. Plus, it is just cool to catch feesh on things I create!
Hands down that pro blue is the best Keitech color, I discovered that on my own years ago. Another great color is ayu and bluegill flash both are pretty versatile.
Nice, I finally got lucky and already had all the colors you mentioned, this video had me nervous I needed to buy more stuff I didn’t have, had the TackleWarehouse link opened and everything lol, good video
I’ve caught more bass on white/sight flash than any other color. 2nd would be bluegill flash both Keiteck. 3.3 is my go to size as a straight swimbait or as a trailer on my swim jigs🎣
Favorite all around clear water for Great lakes Smallmouth is called firecracker. Somewhat clear body with multiple colors in it. It just works in all conditions. And I'm not stuck using all the time, but I do find myself ending up with it often.
Strike King and Keitech's Ayu is very close to your Goby color. On Kentucky Lake, there's a population of largemouth that stay up shallow all summer feeding on emerald shiners, and a 2.75" Rage Swimmer or Easy Shiner in Ayu matches them perfectly. Bonus, if you run across some bluegill beds a dab of chartreuse spike-it on the tail turns Ayu into a passable bluegill imitation.
Great video. Pro blue red pearl (keitech) / lab rat (RI) is always my starting point. It works in all water types. If the water is more dirty than usual the pearl for sure or my favorite color is dark purple black and silver fleck with a natural or pearl belly. And then I’ll have the RI Sungill color or raid cosme wagasaki which are great blue gill imitators. Can’t go wrong with keitech easy shiner, RI dippers and raid swimbaits. 4 colors is all I’ve found I need.
I think pink is underrated (I sure did) in stained/te-water, got a few packs of the powerbait power swimmer in cotton candy and they have been smashed this season when the weather has been clear but the water a bit "dirty". :) Other then that, kinda spot on the way I think about it, but did't stop me from buying every color of my favorite bait. xD (D'fin from daiwa)
I fish bluegill fisheries for the most part and green pumpkin/chartreus laminates work really well in spring and fall. Keitech calls it "spring gill" I think- Strike King calls it "Summer Green" - Sprayed Grass is very similar to it. Straight up Green Pumkin black flake is always a winner to- but I usually dye the tail chartreus so it's about the same color in the end. There are also times when school bus yellow and orange seems to work really well- the Senko color is called "Desert Craw"- and tbh I don't think anyone else makes this particular color. Once it gets hot, mid summer- Junebug and plum have been my go to's for years now and they're both still producing for me. I've started experimenting with solid black the last couple seasons to, and Neon (black w/ red flake)- it's starting to become a favorite of mine to- when it's really muddy or low light conditions.
Electric shad is always a good one. It’s funny you mentioned the goby colour, I was running a similar colour in a pond with zero gobies but the bass were chewing it very aggressively. The black keitechs too I’ve gotten bit on But for me just white or sight flash is usually a winner
I just got into swimbaits recently, the electric blue chartreuse has been working pretty good in all colored water, the kitech is brighter than other brands but it don't hold up very long on the 3in ones, do you have a small tush that will work? 👍

Listen to this man gentlemen for he knows whereof he speaks Just got back from a short combo trip to Sandusky Ohio Sons wanted to go to Cedar Point AP for a day and also do some shore fishing for a few days Absolutely mudered the largemouth using both Keitech and Zoom 4" swim baits in Sight Flash and Smallmouth magic When the chatterbait bight went cold switched to Z-man Willowchatters with the above 4" swim baits and just hammered the bass My sons and I actually drew a small crowd of fisherman wanting to know what we were using that allowed us to catch 4 and 5x more bass than anyone else One person even offered to buy a Willowchatter off me but I told him sorry I only had three and my sons and I were using all three One thing I did was use a trick when the bite slowed a bit you suggested Matt by dipping just the tails in chartreuse dye and the bite quickly improved. Only swim bait colors I use are the ones you suggested but In the future I will be sure to being at least two packs each as the bass quickly ripped off the tails and I went through and entire pack of both Keitech and Zoom 4" swim baits Great info
For the last 6yrs I have only exclusively used the Jackall Rthymwave 4.8-5.8” in golden Shad. I’ve tried every other colour but the GS just gets flat out bit.
Green pumpkin with red flake on top with translucent pearl with blue flake and color shift on the bottom. The closest color to this is called hammer time by bass assasin. It catches piggies 🐷
So….. Walleye? Is purple overrated? Specifically fishing the chain o lakes in IL. Also, other fishing pros keep saying swimbaits and largemouth that there are other baits that work much better. I know smallmouth will eat them. But largemouth?
I don’t stray to far with colours. Something dark, natural colour, and something brighter for dirty water. The only time I ever use random colours is with Walleye. Other than that, it’s like black, green, natural baitfish colours, or white.
You left out pink! Pink swimmers are deadly in clear water, especially on very highly pressured lakes. And, they are fanatic at night. I have no idea why pink works so well at night, but it does.
Past 20+ years BP green pumpkin/pearl......10 :1 over every other color in Cincinnati stained/ dirty water....you mentioned dyes..😂 gotta have...create your own bluegill 😂😂😂😂
Time for me to teach. 1. Pearl 2. Omega Red 3. Morning Dawn 4. Ice aka Sight Flasher 5. CA Smelt Minnow or greenish with flakes 6. Bluish hue, grey top with blk/bluish flakes. 7. Greyish with the gold flakes. 8. Brownish like the Hazedongs. Oh how much I hate Megaass. Gizit blue is fire. Pather Martin red is awesome. That's all I'm going to tell you about swimmybaits. I don't just use them, I'm killing them. I do not use Fat Impacts bc they have little body action. They have certain conditions and techniques they excel in. Only will teach when I will have started my channel. If not, I'm taking a lot of things to the grave with me.
