The thing with Chainsaw Man vs Jujutsu Kaisen is that, Jujutsu Kaisen is currently in it's peak arc while Chainsaw Man anime was barely an introduction to the show

The crazy thing about Blue Locks numbers are that it's the first time in oricon history that a sports manga has gotten the number 1 in yearly copies sold.

The “CSM is going to break the internet” hype died down because the anime only got 12 episodes. Most of the stuff manga readers hype up about the series happens like starting right after S1. I definitely think Mappa shot themselves in the foot by putting so much budget into what is considered by most to be the weakest arcs of the manga and only releasing 12 episodes. Most readers I’ve talked to say they weren’t 100% engaged with the series until the Katana Man arc or the next arc. It’s a series that’s definitely enhanced by binging, but Mappa essentially stopped right as it was coming into its own thing. I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot anime-onlies don’t even bother continuing simply because S1 didn’t live up to the impossible hype the series got. Like imagine if people had been hyping up the Shibuya arc only for Mappa to end the season after Gojo gets sealed and say “welp see ya in 2 years folks!” I’m gonna be biased and say that I think CSM is a better manga, but it’s obvious why JJK overshadowed it considering the anime got way more time in the spotlight and is currently on what many fans consider its peak.

Kingdom is amazing and no one seems to know about it when I bring it up to people. My wife and I call the show Skid Horses since the horses are always getting knocked back and skidding away. I've only watched the anime, so my experience is that I started off watching it as a laugh because the animation and dubbing were so bad, and then as the seasons went on and production improved and the story advanced it became one of my favorite shows ever. As good as the show eventually gets, I have fond memories of the complete cluster *&%* that the first season was. They wanted a queen to have a tiger but instead of drawing it they just photoshopped a freaking real tiger into the shot. We were laughing so hard.

even though the bluelock manga was carried by the world cup, the manga is still so good the panels are so detailed especially in the u20 arc I just hope they adapt the u20 arc in the anime well next year

I’ve been reading dandadan and it’s been so good recently I’ve really been enjoying the story and the art (currently caught up reading weekly, highly recommend)

Kingdom literally got me into Chinese history. The Xia, Shang, Western/Eastern Zhao, Warning States (Kingdom Manga here), and then the Quin and Han periods are so interesting. Looking back, it's crazy to think how much I owe this manga.

Small note about Chainsaw Man : One the reasons Chainsaw Man got more sales this year than last year is also due to the release of Part 2. Taken that part 1 was ended in 2020 (I think), the sales of 2022 were mostly thanks to the hype of the anime. PS : I was a bit sad to see JJK get 24-episoodes for both seasons while Chainsaw Man only got 12 episodes. Wished MAPPA could make longer seasons to keep the hype and the dynamic (since it's quite fast paced) of the manga

To be fair, although the CSM manga is absolutely amazing and quite frankly just such a solid masterpiece, JJK’s not only anime but the manga has been huge ever since well if you know you know. It was such a huge cultural impact, even my friends who aren’t into JJK knew abt what was happening. Esp with hidden inventory and SatoSugo invading my fyp the stars just all aligned I’m gonna be so fr tho Gojo carried jjks popularity on his back this yr even tho man was stuck in a cube

to be fair, one piece only release like 2 books a year, and all the chapters can be read for free as soon as it drops by pirating website, so most people don't find the need to buy it

MHA being lower makes a lot of sense considering it got 3 volumes instead of 4 this year, I'm shocked it was still as high as it was because of that but the quality speaks for itself, I hope Horikoshi gets a good rest during the winter break weeks

the manga for blue lock is honestly absolutely amazing. the panelling and art work. the character writing. other than a few cringy out of pocket line, Blue Lock had to be one of the hypest mangas comming out

The fact that one piece and my hero academia only release three volume this year and still manage to be in the top 10 is really impressive

Oshi no ko s2 is going to cover the Tokyo Blade arc. And it's honestly my Fevourite arc by far,so I can't wait for it to get animated 😇😇 And the manga didn't exactly fall off after this arc, the current arc is really good.🔥🔥 I won't spoil anything . It's kind of like the calm pressure before the huge storm. A lots of pieces are moving towards the climax (presumably)

I typically wait for new seasons of anime but the moment Oshi no ko ended, I immediately searched for the manga lol.

As a big football fan, Blue Lock is the only manga I'm invested in. It is so fun and cool to see isagi's rivalry with kaiser in the recent chapters

Blue Lock is great and I actually watched it all in May rather than in World Cup Time.

For anyone who isn't sold on to reading Kingdom yet, i'm just gonna say that author's mentor who teached him everything about creating manga was actually Vagabond author and Hara sensei later teached Tokyo Ghoul author the same. You can actually kinda see the same artistic vibe and type of drawing from their mangas, because all three were teaching each other. Interesting, right?

I think the reason that "slime" is sitting at number 12 has to do with it being in the top 5 of most isekai fans but not getting new canon content since I believe September 2021. We had some movies and OVAs but as far as I know these weren't canon so fans of the show started picking up the manga instead of waiting till April 2024

The hype for chainsaw man back when it has yet to be aired was from manga fans. Meaning their hype came from the entirety of the manga. Unfortunately, the anime only had 12 episodes, adapting the weakest arc compared to the ones that have yet to come, cause it's only gonna get crazier after the samurai sword dude arc.

Suicide Squad Isekai is very interesting cause it is written by Tappei Nagatsuki writer of Re: Zero and compose by Kenichiro Suehiro who also compose Re: Zero as well! It is an insane crew making this movie.

I haven’t read or heard of Kingdom, but if you’re ok with a long story that isn’t manga, and like that kind of tactical idea, you might like Wheel of Time. In the last book, the last battle is going on and two of the greatest generals to ever live are commanding the forces that are in conflict. It’s absolutely phenomenal

Chainsaw Man's anime trailer looked so bizarre and wild that I had to see it. I wasn't even an active anime watcher at the time, and now I'm regularly enjoying manga and anime thanks to that one. Maybe Chainsaw Man didn't pop off like Garnt thought it would, but...maybe it actually did?

I feel like Chainsaw Man (the anime) didn't have a good opportunity to show why the fans love it so much. It ended a little early. Like if Lord of the Rings 1 ended when Frodo left the Shire Most of the the reason why I like chainsaw man is only from the end point of the anime foward

Thanks to your recommendation, I've started watching Kingdom. If you can make it past the first two seasons (which were for the most part completely in CGI) then it's genuinely a good show with a good story. I hope the manga gets an official English release soon.

Yeahhhhh the strength of Chainsaw Man is that it started off good and somehow just keeps getting better for 11 straight volumes. I can't say I'm that surprised at the reaction to the first season, it'll be interesting to see whether or not the enthusiasm picks up as the story progresses.

It was tense all throught, both teams had their shots at winning, every time you thought the game was over, there'd be some crazy remontada or change of situation. There was no way blue lock could beat the best game of football I've seen in my life in terms of hype.

For chainsaw man as a manga reader we all new the season 1 was just the entree , it’s gonna blow up with season 2 trust us And I’m sorry but even if the direction for season 1 was AMAZING i feel like it was too special for the mass , I think csm s1 needed a more “traditional” DA just like JJK for a perfect mass appeal ( for example demon slayer)

Ay, I'm a kingdom fan, Kingdom is the perfect war manga, I have never seen a manga that gets close to the strategy and battles in the detail and consistency that Kingdom does. Kingdom also has some of the greatest characters (Ouki, Riboku) of all time and is my favorite read. Kingdom just has those moments that will always hit hard.

Blue Lock deserves it,i liked it more than rest of the series in 2023,i liked how it gives different message to readers compared to generic shounen series. It literally potrays how competitive real world can be,and how dedicated an athlete should be to become the best in the world. The Art is great too.
