Personally I want more maps when it comes to field battles. I miss the day of older total wars where you could kinda pick the type of battlefield by the placement of your army on the campaign map.

We will never see that if people are going to buy overpriced low production cost dlc's. Oh no they reskin another few units and spels so this is now worth 25$. What I could buy for 25$ or bit more? A major game rework with new content like: ocean travel and army transport system, shipyard buildings and tech tree, naval battles with ships design for every faction or at least race, sea magic system, port settlement desant battle type and maps and Idk one (or more) new vampire coast legendary lord with few units and heroes loards as a theme. That is dlc not what they are trying to sell us.

@@alexanderlow919 Dude, I am not one who sell it and for that price. Literally for few units, lords and spells you can buy a full smaller games or AAA on sales. I am sure they could do it but they dont need to when people buy same for more. More invest, maybe bigger staff and they get larger profit in the long run. Tell me, why should I buy shadow of change when I can instal from workshop more content then CA will ever made? And that content is same quality or sometimes is better. Only reason is unstable game crashes corrupt saves on a big modpack but if I solve it i dont need CA anymore.

While these maps are very cool, their utility is still limited by the army cap. With only 20 slots per army, the majority of the area of those maps will hardly ever get used. Very cool, but in reality, a lot of unused space. I would love to play those maps if there was a mod that increases the army caps to like 50 or something, but then the majority of people's computers would explode trying to play that lol

True, even if these maps look awesome they are too big for their own good. CA also should focus on increasing the scale of battles, around 2000 men is alright but it has been the norm since rome 1, and it is starting to feel limiting.

They all look really sick! The issue for campaign is that the AI factions will still just try to starve you out if you are the defender unless you leave them undefended. So pretty much you'll be the attacker most of the time unless you only really play them on custom battles. And attacking them, especially both that dwarven one and bretonian one both look really daunting. They've gotten better with the AI attacking settlements but I find it they still more often than not try to starve you out

I've regularly had AI factions attack even a 20 stack defending a major settlement if its 2v1 or they've got a powerful stack and yours isn't that powerful. Great as vampire counts when you can throw up a raised dead army with a few key units in it and then grind down powerhouse enemy armies by just dragging them through the mud. Got some tense battles vs Astragoth especially that way.

Hmmm, I see you've been playing the Skaramor. Really good faction, i love it. The Skullmongers are strong af and they have some special animations, green lightning hits the units they kill which is really cool.

This. This is what I’ve been waiting for. Custom settlements were the lifeblood of WH2 for me, not having them in 3 was sad, but this, with being in the buildings, is amazing. I look forward to more maps.

Me and my friends have been playing on these and its been such a treat! The Everpeak is quite fun to defend, but its hell to attack. Castle Couronne was really fun to defend against. Very wide omce attackers get inside so it can turn into a bit of chaos. Castle Drenchenfels is also great for defenders. Not as much hell i feel for attackers as the everpeak but its quite literally an uphill battle after the walls fall.

I would love an expanded garrison so we can have multiple stacks fighting through these kinds of maps. Imagine 40 unit garrison and an army stack defending against 4 incoming armies. Very cinematic

My main issue with the sieges is you can't even line up units often as invisible terrian seems to get in the way or they can't shoot due to.... battlements!

Thats a good idea. I would like to find guide (not necessary from him) for warhammer modding because when I try a modpack game is unstable, crash or stop responding a lot and a few months ago I've lost every save file for modded campaings. Maybe it was to much mods Idk.

Three things would fix it for me. Number one is if CA made 20ish unique maps for unique cities in the lore and capitals. Number two would be more siege weapons for attackers. Being able to build a warwolf trebuchet to destroy defence towers would be cool. The 3rd thing is once siege weapons for an attacking army have been build, you should be able to bring them with your army for siege to siege. This'd make sieges funner for attacking players.

I think the simple town square maps with lanes in between them are the best you don't have to break your mind trying to figure out how to place your troops and there aren't any nasty surprises such as units simply going around your defenses

I wonder how a hybrid between sieges and that domination game mode would be, where you can call in reinforcement units as the battle progresses and you lose units, because most sieges feel like they are over in 5-10 minutes *don't get me started on land battles* and the garrisons for most cities feel underwhelming in size.

1. Defenders should have a huge advantage, walls with far more health. Immersion should come first, not balance. Balancing can easily be done with the same logic it would be in reality. Attackers need far more might than the defenders. But also introduce systems that make the inner fighting as fun as older total war games, something some mod configurations enable. - For example, a simple 50 increase in morale. I had so many cool last stand scenarios just suddenly end with retreating pointlessly. 2. AI need to behave far better, mostly could be solved by making the final control point the retreat to zone. 3. Huge maps need to have defensible layouts within them otherwise its just too chaotic and unfun. Something solved by the control point thing at least recently.

Love the amount of work the modders have been put into this - some glorious imagery! To be honest just makes me want a Open World rpg for Warhammer and or Mordheim City of the Damned 2 :)

Yeah, I saw these on the workshop. I'm holding off on downloading them till they add more capital maps however. Going from this to the old sieges will kill all enthusiasm for normal sieges.

Hi. Iam the Mapmaker and I have to say Iam better at creating nice looking Views and Areas than the system behind. But even when I set up the Siege AI System in Terry (The Mapcreatortool) right, it still bugs. I can control where the Walls are and and the Side which the enemy is attacking but why does this Unit goes through a breached Wall or Gate and another doesnt? There are a lot of questions because there isnt an official Guide on how to to Maps, just the tools. I used Frodo45127´s Nuln Map as an example and asked him a lot of questions. Without him (and his Map Replacer Framework) I still would´ve no idea what to do haha. Thank you for liking these Maps. Let´s see If I can make them better. It´s trial and error.

Cool mod, I just hope that creators will not get overcreative and make maps AI cannot navigate like GCCM did. For instance double layered walls too close together was big no no for AI. Then only way to properly play would be head-to-head mode.

I know there are a lot of bugs with pathfinding of AI - though I do like that sometimes a couple of them wait outside even if a breach is done. Is kinda thematic (endless horde feel), only if they massively outnumber you though.

Can you switch these type of Map Modes on and off during a campaign? It might be good to test this one out on my next campaign once 4.2 is here. I might want to test some new siege maps, and bring 2+ armies to take them on, kind of like LOTR with Helm's Deep or Gondor's capital city.

I'm surprised that CA don't reaches out to the community to make siege maps and put them in the game. I don't think GW would mind, although Sega could have an issue, maybe? Like a community map contest could be great and they could also do field battle maps as well.

Just because I've become a lore nut. Wyrdstone is slightly different than warpstone. Wyrdstone doesn't cause mutation because Be'lakor infused it with his essence.

these maps look pretty dope. most of the siege battles i play are when i'm attacking though and these seem like they would be annoying to play through when going on the offensive. for defensive siege battles they could be fun, but those are few and far between.

My main issue with this is that each map is a different mod. We'll end up with tones of mods. It is very hard to convince my friends to subscribe to one mod, imagine dozens of them, yet I'd like to see these maps in our multiplayer campaigns. I really hope the modders agree to make a compillation mod similar to GCCM.

with maps this big, I am disappointed as attackers only get towers and rams instead of some extra like an equivalent of team to petards (do not go full petard), or a race unique siege arty that cannot move but very powerful and very destructive, good luck hitting moving targets. Maybe something like a few auxiliary regiments, or maybe a supply camp that is to give very minor bonuses for attackers and maybe during sieges but of course there is upkeep.

Hi, I hope you can do video about vampire counts video. If there will be last 6 units to that will fit in to that facktion. Lord and hero. My Ihop that GW and CA will make thomb bow units, vampire units that have sword and sheld, vampire whit dubbel sword units, that dubbel head worm snacke monster, ghost sworm units, thomb spears units. Lord skeleton whit morning star weapon and sheild.

CA could easily sell a siege settlement pack(s) If they were as good as these, we would buy them, because this is awesome. But yeah, the hero modders are doing it for free

That Karaz a Karak map look impressive, but I'm worried. I fear it's going to play almost like game 1 and 2 sieges because unless you abandon the walls, you're going to win 90% of battles at the front gate. Or lose them there, I suppose, because units will break. It's also far far faaar too big. The raised platforms on the sides are good, though. But the size is too lopsided to be enjoyable. Then again, it works to shake things up, I suppose, so that's fair enough. As long as you're not attacking or defending that place over and over, it should be okay for a battle or two. Couronne? Again, it's basically a TWW 1 or 2 map, but bloated. It's too big. Drakkenhoffff? Okay, I like this one... though it won't necessarily play in the vampire's favour (as it allows melee infantry to block while missiles sit behind safely and shoot, rather than making it easy for hordes of melee units to get stuck in and surround). But I like it. Still mostly going to be decided at the walls, though. I'd love to fight a defensive battle in it against Vampire Counts? But then, probably require abandoning the walls. Hanyu Port? Again, it's nice spectacle, but do you really want to fight just a 20 stack there? It looks like a slog, especially when attacking. Though it being a port city? Yes, that's an improvement. Mordheim shouldn't have walls, right? Also, really big, and doesn't reflect the messiness I absolutely agree with the overall point about diversity being needed for these cities for different factions, especially for the important settlements, but when people make maps for these things, they get too invested in size. It isn't good, not for a game where the most common number of units in battle is 20. Ambition is not always good. Most of the time you'll win or lose the battle at the walls. If you win, great, but if you lose that initial battle, you're going to be running away and being chased. Or, I suppose, there is another idea. You are encouraged to abandon the walls and just hole up in one of the better chokepoints so you can reduce the micromanagement. But that isn't fun either. Why? Because you're then watching your enemy just crawl over the wall and slowly make their way to you piecemeal. I dunno. Some of these have good points, but I suppose it doesn't really matter. You're mostly going to see these on the attack, so it might work okay if you win at the walls due to army losses... or you'll have to slowly chase them down. I dunno, I don't particularly like Cathay's Bastion attacks. Maybe it's just me.

The issue with amazing looking maps like these is you know the AI will have no idea how to navigate them, including your own units. I just don't see the fun in spam clicking round a massive corner just for half the stack to faceplant into the nearest wall first

WE need artillery and other deployables on the walls and just outside of them to make holding the walls more worthwhile. Also the ability to have both rows of defenders on the walls to face outwards rather than one facing inwards. Seriously what the hell is that even going to do?

I hope they'll fix the map for Altdorf. It's meant to be a giant riverport. Currently it's on a landlocked hill, for some reason. (Also, come on, make Middenheim from the lore!)

These maps are impressive in scope and detail (incredible work), but you're still only going to fight on a fraction of each map. The armies just aren't big enough to justify these maps.

They are fancy looking maps, but I don't know if they are actually fun to play. As a player you are mostly attacking and I really don't like the idea of gigantic maps with one single chokepoint. If CA could just make ladders finite so that walls were actually beneficial for defender, give some terrain advantage like higher ground and missile cover and make artillery/weapon team platforms it would solve a lot. Instead we have these awful narrow maps where you just watch singular units waddle through while you hope the infinite tower fire would stop.

the biggest issue with sieges is the ai. for whatever reason they are hell bent at keeping all the fighting at the walls and never falling back to regroup. this means all the fighting will happen at the gates and whatever breaches you make in the wall. very boring and a bit of a shame that the parts of the maps that are new in wh3 are never used. its why i was unsure when they made that announcement about bigger siege maps before wh3 came out. it's kinda fun if you are defending but that almost never happens in campaign, which is another issue.

They are so well done and amazing. BUT and it's a big but the ai just can not figure out what to do. Wish ca would work with the modders take this over and script the ai to properly handle these maps. Attacking it can do a decent job but defending they just corner camp or go back and forth.

honestly, other than the AI, the settlements battles on wh3 are really holding me back from playing it more. i was always waiting for an updated unique settlement mod but doesnt seem like there is anything.

I think these mods are nice, but don't fix what's wrong with seiges, and it's that every race is identical in a seige, yes in warhammer 3 there are different city layouts, which helps, but nowhere near as much as a making things different, illegal use the dwarfs and orks as an example, ork seige engines are completely identical to dwarf swige engines, now orks do have some minor advantages to them, in that they want to assault the walls more due to a lack of artillery, but the towers are basically identical, when they should be radically different, for instance, orks should make towers in a lot more numbers, and there health should be really low, make them lose a lot less health when they are inside the tower and it is destroyed and it has some good uniqueness, the dwarfs have steam engines powering there seige equipment, so why not make use of that and have dwarf seige equipment not require anyone to go forward, to use it, this would work very well with the fact the dwarfs want to sit back and shoot, a couple seige engines could draw enemy fire, if they shoot the artillery then your seige equipment is at the walls ready for you, and you can make an advance, or if they shoot the seige engines your artillery is happy to keep shooting, and then i would say you should add an additional seige phase, you would select it like you would a province commandment, and it would be seige orders, depending on your race you could have block communication, enemy armies in the region have less ambush defense chance, less movement and increases reinforcement time in a battle where the defender trys to join a battle Then you can have bombardment, where you focus on damaging the enemy and there walls, and would limit how many defense resources they get per turn, Assault preparation, which would let you build more seige engines faster, Arcane arsenal, similar to bombardment, but depending on the lores of magic you could have additional effects, fire can deal bonus damage to structures, beast could summon wildlife to cause attrition from foodstocks or lower moral, vampires cause stupid high moral loses and possibly summon AI zombies at the start of the battle, and then the defenders should have there own, the dwarfs can have dug in, which means they reduce any penalties applied to them, and focus on building out, skirmishes, a pre approved unit like cav or infantry, not artillery or wizards, gets to auroresolve a fight against an enemy unit, but your benefit is you count as ambushing them for the the purposes of a benefit, allowing you to do a lot of damage with little investment if your lucky, and you would have different attacking systems to have different levels of susceptibility to eachother tactic

Meh, not too sure about most of these. Having a large map is not great if you only have the garrison, you simply don't have enough troops to defend that Cathay or Bretonnian one at all, you probably don't even with a full army in there as well. I like some of the others though, I never understood why they changed sieges from TWW2, they were perfectly fine and worked more like real life sieges actually would where it was worth defending the walls. I used to get great satisfaction from defending against four full stacks with the garrison and a small army, you could hold them off at the walls and the gates, you can't really do that in TWW3 at least on the vast majority of maps.

That mod look like me computer explode after battle starts. Fps can drop bellow 30 in current siege maps so I don't know if I want to instal it. Mean I know I want, just shouldn't. That type of content should be part od 25$ dlc, not few extra units and lords and no we shouldn't make peace with CA do lowest cost work for a higher price. People can disagree with me and say that new price and content match up after that new update thats coming (or that is just capitalism) but I think its not. Thats price for a full story expension like cyberpunk phantom liberty or game on sale not few units or spels. Moders show again how big potential is wasting with that game and it can clearly be shown that creative or rather recycle assembly is set up to milk the most amount of money in lowest time posible and then go for next project and circle goes around. This is a single player life service game that can be develop for a decade its a golden egg chicken. What CA does is risk that chicken dead for a short term profit. People didnt even fight for a blood pack deletion when SoC was a perfect occasion.

Thanks for this @GreatBookOfGrudges, I think the stand out for me is why CA aren’t not taking the opportunity on map design which when/if they do a LOTR TW, they will have to make a realistic Minas Tirith. Not to mention current designs are so bland it is immersion breaking so hopefully they take note of this video when reviewing improvements to sieges, hell, might be nice to include map changes in DLC as long as they’re play tested.

okay well there's absolutely no reason to use this mod since the maps are way too big, the amount of units you can field at a time makes this actually just a worse experience especially if you're defending. Making the maps massive just highlights how small the battles actually are and just makes it more diffuclt for the player to actually fight because now the space between possible skirmish areas are so far away you can't monitor them at a glance meaning you'll have to constantly be cycling around the map, and those idiotic powerful attacks CA likes to give certain factions will be able to claim entire units with easy since there's no way you'll ever be able to monitor the whole map at once to try and avoid them, thus making the game a much more cheap and less fair experience.

the ai generating tech is out since at least a decade, PoE used procedurally generated maps since ever( :) at least 7-8 years) - this should be easily integrated in generating battle maps based on where the battle starts and they could've used that to generate cities then just customize them a bit, on top of it AI generated images and videos is around since at least 3 years which can be used to generate models and then used in the WH3 engine....... BUT!!!!!!!! you need to care about the quality, but as long as chimpanzees are paying and buying the game why bother?

Just seeing those maps proves that CA prioritization is all about GREED. Someone or some people in leadership positions have absolutely zero passion for games. Honestly I wouldn't hold hype for WH40k, it will eventually come yes, but it will be plagued by issues just like WH3.
