Foden is playing poor because Trippier is not a threat on the overlap, so the right sided defenders are happy to sit back and then surround Foden when he gets the ball which causes him majority of the time to cut inside or pass back into midfield. The guy has quality, but the support is not there for him. No one is making runs and drawing defenders off him.

I hate how people still say "you can't drop kane tho." Anyone can be dropped, fergy dropped keane, becks or anyone who needed to be dropped with the drop of a hat. it's just clear player power and that's whats ruining football.

Why didnt Southgate choose 3-3-4, and have Grealish as left wing, saka right wing, Kane 9. Then 2 CMs as Foden and Bellingham and Rise as CDM? Problems started already in squad selection and plan.

LCM:Rice RCM: Mainoo (would allow rice to bomb forward at times and do what he does best further up.) RF: Foden ( Imo englands best player, letting him drift off the right and in the 10 with Trent providing the width on the right would get the best out of him imo) LF: Bellingham(he’s playing as a false 9 for Madrid all year, by letting him drift off to the left and into the 10, u have 2 mavericks give them free Roam to do their thing while width is still provided) ST: Kane(Kane dropping in isn’t as big an issue if you’ve Foden and Bellingham higher up and able to come inside when Kane drifts back)

The issue is the left hand side of the pitch.we have no width from lb to lw. We either need to go to 3 at the back and use trip's as a left cb and then you use Gordon as a lw. Or you find a lb who will run past foden on the lw which trip's won't do personally I'd give gomez a go at that as he played it for liverpool and got forward. But for me the answer is Gordon on the left

Need Trent on for his beautiful deliveries, the issue is he doesn't have runners. The issue of the team is lack of cohesion between width and stretching the play. Trent at RB is better as he will roam forward, giving Saka more to play with. Anthony Gordon absolutely needs to be starting on left wing and he needs an overlapping LB. Bellingham as an 8, Rice as a 6, Palmer as the 10. That's your team.

My guy on the bottom right knows the coo. He pretty much touched on everything in his first 5 minute rant. LB, Who plays next to Rice, LW, CF (Kane is overrated and not mobile enough, btw) all big problems. If Southgate lets this side down, it's a crime. And Gordan needs to play. You didn't bring Rashford, so Gordan needs to play.

The reason Saka isn't a threat is because he has no one to pass to in the middle once he beats a man, and he's getting doubled up on because Foden is on the left who isn't a threat, so the priority goes to Saka

They create overloads and leave the 9 position vacated, so Bellingham could pop up in those places. That's not what is happening for England. The best true 10 on the team is Foden or Palmer. They should be central. Gordon on the left. Saka on the right.

Also, seems every armchair expert can see that Bellingham should be moved next to Rice, Foden central, Gordon left. That way Kane has 2 runners each side of him, and Foden is in his best position. Then if they're not performing, its easy to bring Palmer on for Foden, Eze for Gordon, Watkins for Kane or Mainoo for Bellingham etc. All players playing in their natural positions instead of against Denmark when we had Foden left, Palmer right, players all over the damn place. Just play players in their natural positions!!!!

Its was blatantly obvious a front 4 of saka kane Bellingham foden isn't going to work. Its clearly individuals . Just because they've scored alot of goals in seperate teams , it doesn't mean it instantly translates to goals when they play together. All 4 attackers at club level have players who run in behind. Gordon fixes the main problems. Every good team needs at least one person who runs in behind . Also, southgate isn't telling them to do anything, its the players decisions
