Ingredients for 4 flatbreads:
- 200g all purpose flour
- 120g water
- a pinch of salt
- 1tsp sugar (optional)
- 1tbsp cooking oil
Notes and tips:
- After heating, about 100ml of water should remain. The ideal ratio of water to flour is 1 to 2.
- The weight of one ball of dough is about 75 grams.
- Roll out the ball to a circle of 15-16cm in diameter.
- Cook on a preheated frying pan.
- In order for the tortillas to puff up and not burn, it is important to choose the right frying temperature. I cooked over medium heat. The tortillas will not rise on low heat.
Step by step:
Mix the flour, salt and sugar.
Mix thoroughly.
Boil 120ml of water.
Add the hot water to the flour.
Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
Knead the dough thoroughly.
I knead the dough for about 5 minutes.
Divide the dough into 4 pieces and form balls.
Cover the balls of dough and leave for 10-15 minutes.
Roll out each dough ball into a circle with a diameter of 15-16 cm.
Place the flatbread on a preheated frying pan.
Cook for about 30 seconds on one side.
Then flip and fry for another 20-30 seconds.
Flip the tortilla over. It should start to puff up.
Once the tortilla is puffed up, flip it over again and cook for another 20-30 seconds.
