I took a Bic lighter to the stock studs for 10 seconds that seemed to brake the lock tight enough for me to grab one of the studs with a pair of pliers and unscrew them I got 2 Ad20.5s I totally destroyed the stock studs on my first Ad20.5 just trying to figure out a way to get them off it was a pain but they do look pretty good

I had to use heat to melt the loctite and still had to cut a flathead notch into the other stud to stop it just spinning and spinning, the studs are also designed so it’s practically impossible to get a grip on it with pliers, even when you don’t care about destroying the original stud. Terribly designed in terms of allowing for modding I was so happy that the flytanium replacement studs have tooling on both sides, and torx not the stupid flathead that inevitably gets munched up

Was just faced with this thumb stud dilemma. Pliers wouldn’t grab the tapered stud well at all. It then occurred to me to use a Dremel cutting tool to cut a flathead slit on the other side. It worked great, and was very easy to unscrew with two flathead screwdrivers. Of course, you have to be comfortable and careful using the cutting tool, and be willing to accept an altered original thumb stud, that may not look great. Though if you cut the slit well, it will be easy to put on and take off in the future.

They refused to do anything and said it’s my fault and since I anodized them the warranty is void.

I think the color difference is because of the different finishes of the 2 pieces of thumb studs. The glossy finish gives brighter colores, while dull finish gives darker color. Same like difference between your back spacer and pocket clip. Wink tends to give dull finish on titanium. Try to polish it with some fine sand paper till it shines, then reanodize it again. I hope you get brighter color.
