@@marclytle644 I've thought of a giant centipede crossed with a spider. A pair of horizontal centipede fangs, and a pair of spider fangs; so 4 venomous fangs total. 8 eyes obviously; with some eyes giving it really good view of its sides and rear; helping it keep track of its flanks and allowing it to make the full use of its body. It is long and flexible like a centipede with dozens of legs, but the legs are spider-like (think house centipede, but even more spider-like legs). And a puffy spider butt on the end for producing the silk for webs, support lines, tangling opponents, and wrapping prey in a silk coffin. Not as dangerous as a Bearantula, unless you make it extra large. But it can be useful if you need a creepy crawly.

@14:00 This is a really good sign that things are working out between these two! If there was any form of territoriality dispute in your clowder there would have been a hissing/terrified/aggressive nightmare when the newcomer tried to also eat food that current resident cat was already eating out of the same dish. So far so good! Also in regard to Pablo and his weight/eating around Toby, some things that I found helped the cats in my family slim down and also increase their daily water intake (so important for animals with minimal thirst drives like cats that descended from a desert cat!) was by replacing half of their dry food with wet food, doing wet only, or adding water to their dry food when we feed them. If you've ever tried to lose weight yourself, you might have heard you gotta up your water intake. Same thing applies here. They'll feel more full but more of the volume they are intaking is water, not food. This should also help Pablo feel fuller and not eat as much of Toby's food when he sneaks some.

I think the hoop house is a great idea! Want to share some experience with y'all. Every farm is different, so who knows, this might be useful to someone. I have a bit of a problem with putting geese and ducks in with chickens in the winter. Duck and goose manure can get tracked into a crust on the top of the bedding, especially hay/straw/wood shavings. The chickens don't like to scratch it, so it gets wet, stays wet and stinks. Then it doesn't decompose. (I have a stall like that from last winter. I have to break it up with a tiller to get it out.) I've found that wood chips, like shredded trees from a tree service, works a whole lot better than hay or straw. If you can find a tree service company that will deliver you a truck load now and then, the birds can create compost with higher nitrogen and organic carbon. Or better yet, get the tree service to bring you ALL their chips, you will have enough to fertilize your entire farm. I run the composted bedding through a (Newer* brand) manure spreader in the pasture with a lawn tractor with some lime, wood ashes and grass seed sprinkled on top. Starting out, my soil was dead from over farming, and all I had was weeds. After 10 years, it's all lush grass and not a drop of rain runs off. Best wishes to you! Am gonna keep watching to see how this turns out.
@StoneKathryn
@StoneKathryn 2 года назад
That is a great way to revitalize your soil! Wonderful. I can't keep my ducks inside the barn in the winter. They have a coop outside. I've heard leaves are good to use for ducks too but wood chips sounds great. Thanls for sharing this.

Mine are full free range, and they have stopped using the boxes in the coop. Several have moved to roosting in the barn, too, and not in the coop. It was completely out of my price range being disabled and owning property. I live vicariously through your videos. Many Blessings for all that you do.

Pyrenees Mountain Dogs don't eat as much in general, they don't have any sense of "planned" food hours which is a nightmare at times. Its something to do with how they have low metabolism is, hence they don't eat that much compared to any other large/bigger Dog breeds.
@horticulturist2338

I love my Great Pyrs, but sometimes I end up feeling bad and worried about the food thing. I'm like, "PLEASE JUST EAT" even though I know they will when they are hungry. It can feel like your dog is on a hunger strike sometimes. lmao.
@GruwskiTheDogski
@GruwskiTheDogski 2 года назад
@@horticulturist2338 It is basically their true nature playing out, the fact that a Pyrenees can last days without food and still produce effective body activity is amazing. Its also why the Spaniards and that of the Romen's later, bred these animals to guard that of sheep/livestock. Pyrenees are very closely tied to that of their historical gene pool (Wolves).

My Border Collies always had food and would not eat if they felt they needed to be on watch.

@@horticulturist2338 If you're really worried take a trip to a PetSmart that has a Banfield vet office. When I was taking my dog they had a big scale built into the front counter that was low to set cages or to easily be stepped onto . Even just passing it Charlie would walk on just to smell it. I'm sure they wouldn't mind you getting a quick weight just to set your mind at ease that he's eating enough. You also could make some yummy bone broth. It's really easy. Especially with a crockpot. You can use saved bones or buy cheap chicken for it. Then you get both cooked chicken & bone broth. You can remove the meat after it's cooked & then keep cooking for a day or so. The bones might even dissolve some. Just don't use anything with too much or any seasoning bad for them. But most of all strain it for any little bone pieces & toss them. There's recipes online. I saw one vet just use a whole chicken once. I tried it for my cats but they just wanted the meat. So now they occasionally get freezer burnt boiled chicken as a treat with nothing added. My Dad actually had an extremely thin border collie. Even too thin for the border collie breed. He'd feed her lots of things. She liked everything in stew but the peas. Those she left in the bottom of the bowl. I've never figured out how she did that. He'd also get her cheap hot dogs. Until one time they were so cheap she refused to eat them. Kind of scary actually. Uh I don't recommend more than the occasional bite of a humans hot dog. Better to do things like boiled meat or pumpkin.y cats still get some though. Just not much since they only know they're getting some. Not how much.
@horticulturist2338
@horticulturist2338 2 года назад
@@Nirrrina I appreciate that, but I know it's just the way the breed is. She just weighed in at 116, so I know she's doing alright as far as weight is concerned. Like Gruwski was saying, sometimes they just don't eat as much as you would think they should for a dog their size.

You should give Rosie some duck and/or goose eggs to hatch.
@hectorskmetija3015
@hectorskmetija3015 2 года назад
If Rosie is the little one, goose eggs will be too big, or rather the goslings will be too big for her to brood to the right temperature. Also he will have to moisten the eggs twice a day as geese have a higher humidity to chickens. I hatched 3 goose eggs under a large breed chicken and that was maximum I would advise.

I had geese as a child and my gokse was an amazing mom she hatched all her eggs. Only thing was she flew out of tge pen yes she really did and built her nest where she chose and itwas successsful. Only thing she ate all my Mothers peonies!!!
@goldengryphon
@goldengryphon 2 года назад
@@hectorskmetija3015 My only successful hatch was a chicken hen who hatched out a goose this year. None of the other broodies managed anything. So, I have a Very Large and Confused Chicken who is just now starting to hang around with the geese. She didn't have any troubles with the egg and I did nothing different. A Silkie hen can hatch a single goose egg or several normal chicken eggs. They are true bantams, so I would try anything more than a few eggs due to their size.
@hectorskmetija3015
@hectorskmetija3015 2 года назад
@@goldengryphon I'm glad your chicken was successful, I'm always sad when after all that sitting nothing happens. But for the healthiest outcome, it is best to increase humidity if goose eggs are under a chicken.
