New construction in my neighborhood start at 750k. I’m like 40 mins with no traffic to Seattle. Which is crazy.

Still over 5K a month for an 800K house. TX has a super high property tax rate in a state where minimum wage is still $7hr. Many are waiting for the upcoming foreclosures in TX, where the same house will sell for 30% less.

But it's an actual 800k house. Unskilled labor wage in urban areas is 14-15 dollars.

Respecfully, I agree to disagree . A simple salary search on Indeed reveals that skillful positions in Houston pay 10-30% less than other states. The market needs price correction more than lower interest rates.

3rd house would be over 1 mil in Memphis. Only 1-2 neighbors in the whole county have nice homes.

That’s wild, I visited Memphis about 12 years ago and did some volunteer work at the shelters in orange mound and Binghamton and it was wild

As a Houstonian, please stop advertising our city as cheap cost of living and low taxes, and ask more people to move in. There are way too many people here now. It is too crowded, trafffic sucks, we now have urban sprawl everywhere in within loop 99. And our cost of living has double/triple up thanks to eveyeone moving in.

In my market place, that 3700 square foot home would be at least 3 million dollars.

In Denver you can maybe get a 1bd 1ba condo in a mediocre neighborhood for 236k. With a $450 HOA lol

@@livinginhtx The school ratings are a big reason to spend and the schools in that area don't compare to katy, woodlands, friendswood. Of course the newer masterplanned places have all the new and shiny stuff to attract people but living in a place that gives children a chance to score higher for college placement is worth paying more for compared to a new place.

How much is the HOA for a community in Houston typically?
@livinginhtx
@livinginhtx 5 месяцев назад
The hoa for a newer community is between $400-$1200 annually depending on the amenities offered. Starter home communities with fewer amenities will be closer to the low end and master planned communities with a ton to offer are usually on that higher end around $1200.

That's not the case anymore. LOL No income tax!, but the property tax is to the roof, specially when buying new homes. The State is not dumb, they will F@##$@ in the end. My friend made the stupid move pre-pandemic, and bragging he is making money on equity. Yeah, but he is paying about $6,000/yr on a 1800sqf. and not to mention, Home insurance has gone to the roof too with the massive hurricane, and cost of repairs. Not to mention, some Insurance sending letter deciding NOT TO Renew policy for some owners. Oh $100,000 homestead?, what for, when the state decides to raise property tax 2x, or whatever they want. "sounds too good to be true" People due your list of pro vs cons. before making the moves.
