if my younger sibling watched “bear in the big blue house”, i’d 100% make dinner based ENTIRELY off of whatever episode of the show is gonna be playing that day just to fuck with them lmao

Even kids book authors know that being lost can be just as scary as any monster.

I once watched a show called mustard pancakes, it had mostly puppet characters and one female human host, but there was always this one section involving a certain puppet. A little green monster (I forgot his name) and he would always usually be feeling bad over something. So the host would pull out his heart to see what's making him feel so bad and she would pull out stuff from it like Dum Dum suckers or something. Then she'd give a small speech about whatever, then replace the bad thing with a good thing (in this case smarties) before putting his heart back.

So- I’m not the only one who was only slightly traumatized when Bear went to find Shadow to tell him a story, only for the white void of nothing to evelope the screen, and then it ends only for the bear to say something completely unrelated. “Wow! That was great!” No way dude! You’ve got a dead woman hiding in your walls telling you stories every day. It’s time to call the ghostbusters and deal with that demon!

I love that bear, what a cutie! He was always super calm with everyone, was, if anything, disappointed at times, when something didn't really go as he wanted, but nothing else. I wish I had a way of hugging that good lad. No idea how one can be scared of him, but to be fair, I hate sand, which is super silly, so I guess that's just how it is.

in the Bear puppet show.......theres one that scares me to this day. is when the episode shows the Ghost. and oh my Lord....it was terrifying.

L O L. Dude your sister wasn’t the only one terrified of the intro to VeggieTales. I was a little too for a short time. Especially that episode, the end of silliness where the cucumber gets his songs, taken away, depressed, gets it back then, during a happy song, singing a song, a bear comes in the mall him to death that scared the living crap out of me even worse than Sid from toy story

Miss Spider was a show that I remember being very unnerved by as a kid and yet it was one of my favorite shows.

Bro when I was younger I was scared shitless of Bear in the Big Blue House. I actually like it more now I’m older bc I can appreciate the calming atmosphere, background knowledge, puppetry skills and definitely the humour. But when I was a child, all I saw was a seven foot tall massive bear with a long snapping-turtle neck and beady soulless eyes and a giant demonic hyper-realistic moon that could easily destroy you.
