I do find it weird Sue Ellen doesn't call out how accidentally eating something cooked in meat is very different than choosing to eat meat. Also how damaging it is to try and force/trick a vegetarian/vegan into eating meat is to their system. but it is a show for kids so makes sense why they would not have gone deeply into it.

The way Muffy and Sue Ellen gasped at the mustard Pickle. It’s like they saw DW dragging satan to hell.

Muffy and Francine were always going back and forth between being best friends and being at each others throats, dragging everyone else into their shit

Also, Muffy shouting about how Buster doesn't bring pizza has major Skeletor chewing out his minions for not killing He-man energy.

5:17-5:19 DUCK FAT!? I don't remember what episode it's from, but I distinctly remember a scene of Arthur and D.W. standing in the rain at Grandma Thora's door before Thora tells her to come inside because "This is only good weather for ducks" as we then see a sapient, talking duck on a bicycle who says something like "Beautiful weather, huh?" with seemingly no regard for the rain whatsoever. So apparently there's just the silent implication that Ladonna and her family killed a person to make Brussels sprouts. EDIT: It's from Season 1, episode 20a "Arthur's Almost Boring Day".

Muffy’s the reason Wal*Mart has that in store policy that employees can’t accept gifts from customers. I learned about that policy the hard way. But hey, more donuts for me and that wasn’t my first time getting rejected by an Allison.

If we can all agree on something, the Chicken Lickin' cashier is the best character.

The fact that the cashier doesn’t even say anything to Muffy and Sue Ellen when she makes the pickle and mustard in the next scene is savage

To be fair, I’d be disappointed if someone got ratatouie and not the movie ratatouie.

There are numerous other episodes where Muffy deserves such a thrashing. Francine to a lesser extent. The only female characters I like on Arthur are Sue Ellen, Fern, Ladonna, Molly (the Tough Customer), Baby Kate, Emily (D.W.’s friend), and Catherine (Francine’s sister).

Muffy is so spoiled, she's like an 8 year old version of DW. At least the Reed parents *sometimes* punish DW.

I’d like to see you do FU Arthur. The episode where Arthur makes fun of Sue Ellen and it goes too far and doesn’t even know he’s being a bully.

As a Mexican, while I'm proud of the fact that May 5th is acknowledge outside of my country, I wish September 16th (which is our Independence Day) was acknowledged more. I have yet to see a US TV Show that points out how important September 16th is. Just my two cents, sorry if I sounded preachy. Anyways, putting aside that, I feel that Sue Ellen Vegges Out is much better than The Simpsons' Lisa the Vegetarian Episode, because it makes the point that not everyone has to be a Vegetarian. Sure, that was also the point of that Simpsons Episode, but I really don't think the message was well put together. Sue Ellen Vegges Out goes straight to the point, while Lisa the Vegetarian takes a while to get that message across. On a side note, it's rather amusing how despite being the protagonist of his own show, Arthur is barely in this episode. Matter of fact, he can be absent in quite a lot of episodes. I mean, sure, many shows have episodes where the protagonist doesn't appear, but you can count them with one hand. With Arthur, however, he's been absent in quite a lot of episodes. So sorry, Matt, for the long post. I rarely comment in RU-vid. Back on topic, yeah, Muffy and Francine do deserve each other because misery loves company.

Arthur was supposed to be an educational show for children, but all I ever learned from this show was how to be a shitty friend.

4:07 It was noted in an episode of "Postcards From Buster" that the Frensky family isn't Orthodox Jewish, so Francine has no problem eating cheeseburgers, for instance.

Wouldn't it make more sense for there to be a vegan/vegetarian option instead of just getting rid of meat for 99% of the school's population for one day?!

Yeah Muffy and Francine suck, but can we talk about Sue Ellen, not just in this episode but like in general? I always found her preachiness annoying as a kid and if I remember correctly there were many episodes where she acted like a know it all and was never called out for it

Why am I the only one concerned in the comments that characters from the show eat their own kind?!

Vegetarian is pretty much always Kosher, even then Francine doesn't keep kosher as she is more non observant in her practices. The only time that it is really celebrated by her is Hannukah and her bat mitzvah

You know, the "Some animals I consider friends" line seems fine, until you remember everyone in this world is literally an animal... I swear Muffy only stays "friends" with Francine because she likes tormenting somebody poorer than her. Francine doesn't get any perks from it as Muffy rarely buys her things... so, why does she stick around?

Pretty sure this episode is a remake of an older episode from the seasons when the animation was better. I recall Sue Ellen befriending a pig that she kept as a pet; that's what inspired her to go vegetarian.

As a kid, there was always a reason why I hated this show and other shows to go along with it. Everyother character was just a cúnt to each other. Especially the female characters.

Muffy's always been one of my favorite characters. She might not always be the most compassionate character, but that's because due to being rich she doesn't always understand the situation or thinks fancy stuff is better. But once she's proven wrong or starts to understand the seriousness of the situation she always does learn her lesson in the end and makes up for her behavior by taking a part in the situation. You can bet I'd rather have Muffy in my class then Chloe from miraculous ladybug, because unlike Chloe Muffy has a heart and I'd rather put up with her behavior than Chloe's and Muffy always appreciates her friends and family's kindness. I bet if Muffy met Chloe, she would be tempted to hang out with her but in the end would turn her down deciding she'd rather be with her real friends instead of a brat like her.

At my high school, the cafeteria sold refrigerated sandwiches and wraps. They sold pizza, pizza and meatball subs, burgers (weak patties and processed cheese), fries, and pasta. Pasta with meat sauce and hot dogs were on their menu, but not for long.

If someone threw out a vegetarian dish I made for myself id be so pissed. I have been to events that don't have any vegetarian options for me and it has always sucked. I once got some mashed potatoes that had bacon fat in them and got so sick 🤢

Honestly, if I were in Arthur, I wouldn't trust anyone since everyone has a flaw, even Arthur and Buster themselves

Eating babies is kind of the opposite of what vegetarians do Actually, series with animal characters [ie Arthur] raise troubling questions of where they get their meat

I remember this whole episodes being such a wild ride from the title to the episode “sue ellen vegges out” the fact that lots of vegetarians have dairy in their diets but they instead order the non dairy sorbet instead ?? The fact that muffy went to all that effort to trick a vegetarian to eat meat is just a whole another level of fucked up Also the fact that no one in Francine’s family saw an issue with Francine becoming a vegetarian just to win a petty bet with muffy ?? Like I don’t think most families would be as understanding lol And lastly them eating nothing but vegetables throughout the WHOLE episode This episode came out in 2013, were the tofu, were the beyond meat (beyond meat came out in 2009) weres the rice/curry (lots of Asian dishes happen to already be vegetarian similar to Mexican cuisine) ect ect Like this episode makes being a vegetarian/vegan look extra sad lol Nothing but cooked veggies in a pan, veggies with mustard, steamed veggies, sorbet/frozen yogurt , salad with nuts, veggies on a pan again, RAW veggies in a bag, and finally veggies in a pan again lol Like holy shit do they make vegetarians/vegans diets look so fucking depressing it’s insane lol 😭

Based off the spinoff Postcards with Buster, Francine's family is Reform Jewish, so they don't necessarily follow every facet of Kosher eating laws, apart from avoiding pork. It wouldn't matter too much in this situation anyway, since Kosher eating laws allow the consumption of dairy if no meat is had within the same sitting.

When I was little and watching that specific scene with the pickle and mustard I saw that there was no ketchup, leading me to believe that ketchup was a raw meat. For years after that I would refuse to eat anything with ketchup because I was so disgusted at the thought of it being a raw meat, even when I eventually learned that there was no meat in ketchup

It's hilarious how the vegetarian character is a _cat._ of all things. One of, if not the only animals in this show, that physically can't survive without meat in their diet. (Dogs technically can, but a vegetarian dog is a horrendously unhealthy dog)

Often forgot this episode starts on Cinco de Mayo somehow. Although at 3:31, this isn't actually the first episode where burgers are imagined as sentient.

Honestly I did notice the DW's bad behavior but the person that I hated the most on the show was Muffy. She is the worst karen character on the show.

the thing about Chinese food is that a lot of Ashkenazi Americans have the concept 'safe treyf' where, basically, if you can't see it, it's kosher; so dumplings and stir fry would be fine because you can't see the ground pork or the oyster.
