These Men are SO Creepy...

Hold on keyboard warriors, let us explain. Around the world there are both men and women who act extremely toxic and inappropriately. I am VERY excited to discuss both topics, however the men are just first on the agenda. Jack Ryan has created an amazing platform called "‪@theslappablejerk‬ " that focuses on this idea of the entitled “Nice Guy” who REALLY isn’t as nice as he claims he is… In this episode we not only discuss some key qualities of these “nice guys” but also offer solutions of how to get out of this awkward label. Just because you have been acting inappropriately in the past, does NOT mean you can’t change your behavior for the future! Hopefully this episode will give some examples of how men SHOULD NOT act, while also validating the experiences of women who have experienced the “nice guy”: You are not alone!

Hey! I was wondering why you have to play the ads so much. I know that each deal and contract may be different and I am just asking as someone who is on this app wayyyy to much lol. I have just never seen adds having to be played this much in videos so I am curious as too why it is like this. Love the podcast Rebecca!!!

@Rebecca.Rogers It's awesome that these companies have come to recognize your channel & and want to support you! However, I think followers/subscribers would prefer if you are able to keep it to one ad/company per video. I'm betting you have a large portion of your audience who are fellow ADHDers, so keeping watchers from clicking away & either actively avoiding your videos for being too hard to follow/concentrate on or the algorithm taking followers/subscribers frequently clicking away as being not interested will hurt you in the long run more than not having sponsors. I know sponsors likely have requirements on the length of the ad, so keeping it to only one will also help retain ADHDers from getting bored during ads or even being so interested in the ad that they forget about the rest of the video when they pause to check out offers. I was forgetting what the video was about by the 2nd ad in a row & in boredom, had clicked away. It took 2 weeks for me to realize I didn't finish the video. Just some other suggestions on making things a little more ADHD 🤔 friendly. The "coming up" 💭 at the beginning is great, but maybe if on interviews of a content creator, like with late night shows, they could come with 1 or 2 shorts 🎞😂 for examples, playing one at the intro, then your show's title & music ☕. At this point, you could introduce your guest 👋, the topic📑, then a 💬 "but first a word from our sponsors". The 💭 "coming up" would be great right after the ad 😐 or right before the 💬 "but first, a word from our sponsors" & potentially another short of the content creator's 🎞😂 to either follow directly after the ad 😐 or after the ❓️😯❗️ "coming up" following the ad 😐. This way, the 💭 "coming up" has a greater impact of either hyping up 😃 what's to come after an ad 😐, already knowing the topic interests them 📑😃 & have become invested🍿, or as a quick reminder 📑❓️😯❗ post ad 😐 as to the videos' topic, so they can more quickly adjust their attention 🤔 to the short 🎞😂 or rest of interview 🍿. As you know, that adjustment to change in topics 📑 can make it hard to really concentrate 😣! So, giving the audience some dopamine 🤩/laughs 😂/excitement 😃, along with a little time to get settle in 🍿, helping avoid them clicking off to the suggested videos 👀 on their screens (which will have disappeared or forgotten by the later ad with investment) or on the back/upper youtube ▶️ homepage when the ad immediately bores them 😕, even though they absolutely would have enjoyed the topic 😔. Audience's emotional journey: |🎞😂|☕️|👋|📑😃|🍿|💬|😐| |❓️😯❗️|🎞🤩|📑😃|🍿|🍿|🍿 Short|title|guest & topic| "now...sponsor"|ad|"coming up"|short|interview continues... And if your contracts said you needed to include all of those ads as they were into a single video, you should never sign with those companies again. Its terrible marketing to throw so much information at targeted consumers! That's why most adults don't watch channels with a bunch of ad breaks dotting the chapter bar like some Morse code rant.

I have a rule about asking a woman out on a date. If I invite, I will pay. I dont expect anything physical, because that's a gross, toxic move, at least to me. If they say no, that is the end of it.

When I was 18, 19ish the ah average age I dated was 25-30ish. Anyone younger was just too immature for me. (Also, the drinking age at the time was 18. So, that shows my age, lol.) But that's why I usually chose older men. Unfortunately, those men were also usually married and real "nice guys". Now, at 58, I continue to run into men my age that are STILL children. What is a woman to do?

For the first time in my life, I have a boyfriend who says one of the things he loves most about me is my intelligence (I’ve had a lot of abusive relationships in the past). The first time he saw that to me, I almost cried. Being valued for my mind and my career aspirations (we are in the same field) is one of the most wonderful feelings. He has so many green flags and amazing qualities about him. I was ready to take as much time as I needed to be single and independent when I met him in school! The connection was so strong and he is such a good man who is so wonderful to me AND my daughter that I feel so incredibly blessed . Never settle for anyone who doesn’t value you for your intelligence! That’s huge in a relationship!

Oh my god. Let me tell you all the story about the time I was That Guy™️ entirely by accident. This goes back to about 2011, and on my college campus, there had been an SA literally 2 days ago, on the route I took from my last class back to my dorm, 20 minutes after I would have gone that way. So I was feeling super conscious about that, and trying to be an ally. I'm at a party, and talking to a girl, and she is not quite drunk, but more than tipsy. So I offer to walk her back to her dorm to make sure she gets there safely. She refuses at first, but I insist, and get her back to the dorm. The entire time she's looking around, and like an IDIOT, I'm thinking to myself, "Gee. If she's this nervous, I'm really glad I did this for her." We get back to the building she says that her dorm, I say good night, and head back to my dorm. I happen to look behind, and see her walking out the door to somewhere else. IT TOOK ME FOUR YEARS TO REALIZE THAT SHE HAD ME WALK HER TO A DIFFERENT BUILDING, BECAUSE SHE THOUGHT I WAS TRYING TO STALK HER OR SOMETHING!!! So let that be a lesson to you guys out there. Be very conscious of how your actions can/will be interpreted.

When I was 18 I started dating a guy who was 28. He was exactly like the Brian character. I agree with Rebecca’s theory, from personal experience. He hated the idea of me talking to anyone who would possibly get me to realize how creepy, weird and toxic our relationship was. Even after years of extreme isolation though, I realized on my own and started taking the steps to leave. The time between the day I decided to leave and the day I actually left was close to a year, because of how isolated and dependent I had become. Now I am so vocal to the man and the girl when I see these types of relationship dynamics playing out in front of me.

The reason I don't believe in one true soulmates is because there are polyamorous people, aromantic people, and there are people who you date and break up with not because of some disagreement or event but purely because it wasn't the right fit or not the right time. People date, find out they're incompatible, and eventually their life changes and they meet together and ARE right then!

I had a "friend" just like THAT, for 4 years!!! NOW, listening to this interview, I GET why I never liked him the way he wanted me to like him!!! BUT he was SO discreet, at least I think so, with me, that I never saw him for what he was, a "NICE GUY" UNTIL he made a move on me, and didn't respected me, on a trip, where I ended up in the same bed with him... Arrggh only thinking about it, gives me the creeps!!🤮🤮🤮 THAT'S WHEN I ENDED THE "FRIENDSHIP" with him. Note: I was VERY CLEAR with him since the beginning that I didn't like him that way!! So, NO I wasn't what some "nice guys" call a teaser or something like that. I would NEVER EVER lead on a guy I'm not interested in, NEVER. I always been honest and direct with men.

I met a guy at an event and went on a date with him a few days later. It started fine and he was nice, but he taught me what prying meant. He'd ask me a deep (not in the good way) question, and I was like, "that's pretty personal" and yet he still expected answers (I cried a few times). At one point, I said, "I just feel like I need to go home" and he did not listen. He kept saying communication is super important in a relationship, which I definitely agree, but this was a first date. He was also obsessed with asking about/talking about previous relationships, and kept asking how I felt about *him* and wouldn't take me home until I gave him a response for starting a relationship or not. I then found out he needed a green card by December to stay in the US. Given the ultimatum, I said no, then felt so much better. Thats the last time I go somewhere without my car nearby on th first few dates!

A friend of mine once dated a 19 year old. We were in our early 40’s at that time. Definitely an odd pairing and they had nothing in common. He had money and she was a good looking young woman. I’ve had a conversation with her asking what she saw in him and she said she didn’t like working and they both were getting some out of the relationship. It was disturbing to watch a 40 year old try to act like a 19 year old around her friends and she didn’t know how to act around his friends. Surprisingly it did not last long.

For anyone; if you’re not sure if you have ever come across a “nice guy/girl”, there’s an EASY way to tell. If you have ever been approached by someone asking for your number or trying to “date” you and decline the advance only to have them reply with; • any insults about your appearance (because now that you rejected the advance, you’re not worth their time lol) • start the next sentence with “you (insult or not) are all the same • insist “you need to get to know me” • but you were JUST taking to (x) over there, am I not good enough for you? • all (gender) are teases and you’re no different • call you shallow, stuck up or vain Or, and this is the big one, won’t take NO for an answer and keep “trying” no matter how you say it. There is nothing wrong with you, if you were good enough to approach, they are just butt hurt that you didn’t reciprocate or buy into their thought process. Guys….NEVER give into a woman that won’t take “no” for an answer that you’re not attracted to. That’s dangerous. Ladies, NEVER let go of your resolve to decline a date from a guy you aren’t interested in. It’s dangerous.

The advice of getting a hobby reminds me of this 4chan greentext I saw once of this anon who was on the verge of suicide who decided to get a pet based on some advice from someone, I don't remember who. That pet happened to be some shrimp, and those shrimps he got not only helped with his depression and his self worth. Wanting these shrimp to live and live a good life gave him the will to live. And him having the will to live, even if it's just to give these shrimps a good life, made his mental health better just by changing his habits. And when his mental health got better, he was happier to the point of someone taking notice in him and liked his shrimp and they started dating. I don't know if some of that is misremembered but the gist is he improved his life with a hobby/pet and with the life being improved, he was able to find someone who liked him.

As soon as I could safely get away from this guy I did. He was abusive, over 6 feet tall, 250lbs taking steroids and drugs. He was a scary dude. I think the worst scenario I’ve ever had was at an Anime convention around 2015/16. I was not in a cosplay btw. I had a T-Shirt, Jeans, and boots. Some fucker walks up to me to hit on me. I grab the guy I went with as a shield. But he just laughs at my discomfort 🤬 as the fucker talked about straight up r.ping me! Like a good friend would’ve done something instead of laugh!! Horrified me enough to skip a few years of ever going back. It was until after I graduated college that I went back again. But I feared cosplaying female characters or presenting as female because he was so close to sexually assaulting me. The guy I went with is an ex friend and roommate and ex in everything. Never again 😥 and people think I deserved it because I went to a convention so I must’ve been asking for it 🙄 believed em for quite a while until I realized I’m not to blame. Nobody is ever asking for it!!! And it also doesn’t mean I hate men because of it, which also gets brought up!

STORY TIME: Talking about creepy age gaps. I had a cousin who was 14 when she met her DAD'S COWORKER/FRIEND, who was 36. The 36 year old co worker told my uncle that he was interested in her, so HER PARENTS set them up on a date. They actually started a "relationship," and at 15, my cousin ended up pregnant. And the pregnancy was actually celebrated, and nobody, at all, said anything about it. So, yeah, my aunt and uncle set their 14 year old daughter up on a date with a 36 year old man, and we're actually happy when their daughter got pregnant by him at 15 and NOBODY, not any teachers, not any doctors or nurses, not anyone from their church, NOBODY said anything about it. The kicker: my aunt is a Sunday school teacher. And, yes, the guy did disappear as soon as she found out she was pregnant.

I totally understand the controlling older boyfriend. When I was 18, I had a boyfriend who was 26. It was a total disaster but I learned a lot from that situation about what I wanted in a relationship. I dated someone closer to my age and then I met my current boyfriend who is absolutely wonderful and very respectful. I didn’t know his age when I met him but he was 33 (I was 20) and it has been absolutely wonderful. So I just wanted to point out that not all of these relationships are the controlling situation. I think it relates to those who mention ages to people (which we never bring it up unless we are asked) as well as if the men are actively looking for someone younger (which he was not). I think this distinctions are important to think about because they can help navigate these types of situations and if you really connect with someone (and have already learned your lesson so to speak haha) it is okay to at least give it a chance, even with an age difference.

@@Rebecca.Rogers True. I tend to like your content, it’s just important to me to have some idea of what I’m getting into before starting a video. I want to know so I have some idea of if I’m in the right head space to hear about that or not. Your titles have gotten less descriptive and more click baity over time, which is disappointing. But I know I’m just one random stranger on the internet and you have no obligation to consider anything I say. I just thought it might be beneficial to share my experience since I can’t be the only one like this. That’s all. I hope you’re well.

I adore what a genuine and beautiful person you are. All in all this was a really good episode. But I just can’t help but think this maybe a goal to work on. I think to get more out of your guests, they should be allowed to speak. I think this, and others, would have been very different episodes if the host waits until the guest is done speaking before speaking herself. I understand being excited about a guest. I think that is great. But I urge you to review footage and try to witness what I mean.

I dont know if this was on purpose or not,. but having the double sponcer part made me quit watching. I hate that yall do those to begin with, but having them more than once, is awful.

1. It is literally in my contract lol 2. I literally added chapters for you to skip them If that is not good enough for you, feel free to leave. Absolutely insane you expect me to pay thousands of dollars to travel and set these episodes up but wont allow me to GET PAID from them to help fund them lol.

I would NEVER EVER lead on a guy even I'm not interested, NEVER. I've always been honest and direct with men. He even moved into my building and I didn't think anything about it and when 4 years later I rejected him, he started making arrangements to move out😮🤯😳🧐🤨
