Do you want a fast and stable Linux distro, There are a few. Fedora (kde and gnome) OpenSUSE (kde) Manjaro (kde) EndeavourOS (advanced)(requires terminal)(any desktop environment) Ubuntu (easiest)(gnome)(fractional scaling causes blur on x11 applications, better to use only if you either use 100, 200, 300 or 400% scaling.

You're welcome! Glad you found the video useful. Zorin Lite is a fantastic choice for older hardware. But if you are buying Old Hardware just to try Zorin Lite, I will request you not to do that. because extremely cheap and old machines might struggle with performance, especially with newer applications. So If you're looking for a budget-friendly option, consider Something which has some Upgradability Options

I would go straight to arch honestly
@NixNexus360
@NixNexus360 7 часов назад
There's nothing wrong with going straight to Arch! It's a fantastic distro for experienced users who love customization and bleeding-edge software. I've used Arch myself in the past, and from that experience I would say that anyone can face issues with a rolling release distro, be it Arch or Debian-Testing, even an experienced Linux user will admit it, which is very annoying, because you would never know when your system will break down with a new update, I know its not Arch's fault, but that is the way it is. And for that same reason many Linux Pros like Arch, they love Challenges and Problem solving. But the fact is all the FOSS Program and Utility developer cannot keep-up with rolling release every time. So for beginners, Debian-based distros like Debian or Ubuntu are fantastic choices. They prioritize stability and provide a user-friendly experience with fewer potential update conflicts. While they might not have the latest software right away, they offer a solid foundation for learning Linux. Finally I would like to confirm that I am not saying that A distro is better then the other one. but this the reality of Linux World.

Long time Linux user (since Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon)through several releases, then PCLinuxOS,, then Mint for a long time, Suse and now we're using Debian since 10 (Buster) and now 12 (Bookworm on desktops and Lenovo Laptop. The HP 10X2 is on Bodhi. Until a Win 10 update killed windows in 2016 I was dual booting but deleted the Windows partition and expanded the Linux one to use the whole disk (After backing up everything I wanted from both Win and Linux Obviously) so now we're happily Microsoft free.

Wow, that's an impressive Linux history! Going from Ubuntu 7.10 all the way to Debian Bookworm is a testament to your love for open source. Love to see people ditch Windows and embrace the freedom of Linux. I started with Debian 5 (Lenny).

@@lythanhduy8316 It's the kernel that makes the most difference to battery life, Debian 12 uses kernel version 6.1.27. I typically have ~50% battery after 3 hours of moderate use - so probably not that different (After all Ubuntu is based on Debian.)

@@lythanhduy8316 as @daviddunmore8415 have mentioned, In my opinion as well there won't be that different in battery life. Back in 2012 when I first installed Linux. I was in the same spot. when I saw the vast numbers of distros I was totally overwhelmed. But now after tinker with Linux for maybe 10 years and Using Primarily Linux for almost three years. I can say without any doubt that all the Linux Distros are more or less same. I admit there are subtle differences in all of them but if you go according to Distrowatch, there are only 53 Active independent distros out there, I will share the Link below. So if you take my opinion. Go for Debian or any thing based on Debian branch. Ubuntu, Mint, Elementary, MX, Zorin pick any thing. So why chose Debian Branch? Because there is nothing more stable and beginner friendly then Debian branch. You will find thousands to forums, guides on the internet. Once you get more comfortable with go for Fedora or Arch Branch. There you will see the Real power of Linux. I wont lie. There is big issue in Linux with Proprietary creative software. and truly speaking this is the first time I heard about Cakewalk by Bandlab and Sibelius software. and after some searches I came to know that these are creative software. @@NixNexus360 Thanks for willing to make a video. In general, not with all of Proprietary creative software companies have that issue. Blackmagic has a Linux version for their awesome video editing software, Davinci Resolve which many Hollywood studios work with it. They were smart understanding the will of the people, which is what Zorin makers did for Windows users. To make the transfer easy in a familiar area. That's why A video detailed video that shows that show both Cakewalk by Bandlab and Sibelius work on Zorin OS will be great for windows users seeing that they can use Zorin and keep working with the windows third party software.

I personally use Debian 12 and I think It is a pretty Solid Linux Distro for any one, be it a beginner or an experience user. But if you want anything different from Debian or Arch or Fedora, you should go for OpenSuse. But I would say that new user who lack patiance must not start with Suse.

Unfortunately, on Linux, my 14" 1920x1080 display with 150% fractional scaling the Ui looks ugly and blurry and most importantly the fonts aren't as sharp as Windows. Kubuntu has no issues but Linux mint still have. So sad 😢
@NixNexus360
@NixNexus360 3 дня назад
That must be due to Graphics Drivers. Have you researched about that or tinkered a little bit. Because I myself have a 1920x1080 display in two separate PC but I never had any issue with using Linux. By the way What Graphic card are you using? I use one RX580 and another RX570 both from AMD.

I can Suggest two solutions but not sure they will work or not. 1. You can Update the Kernel: Sometimes a newer kernel version might have improved scaling support for Intel UHD Graphics. But I will suggest you to try that out in a VM first then do it on your machine. 2. You can try Alternative Display Manager: If scaling adjustments don't work, consider trying a different display manager like LightDM or LXDM.

Ha ha no doubt Gentoo is one of the most powerful distro out there. But genuinely speaking in my opinion most of the people who try to use Linux, leave it after weeks or months because they find it too complex. I don't blame them its just Microsoft windows wired them in a certain way. So in opinion if they find something easy and similar like Zorin OS they will atleast try to stick to it. @@NixNexus360wrong, windows.people usually do not care about the OS and do work with their programs that run in windows....linux users only fiddle witht the OS and nothing else
@NixNexus360
@NixNexus360 6 часов назад
@roklaca3138 I totally agree with you. There countless Computer users who use Windows. But why is that? That is because they never had a choice, no one gave them a Choice, when they started Learning about Computers in School they were taught Windows. Next when they bought a Laptop It cam Pre-installed with windows. Then when they bought a Desktop, the Store man Installed Windows because they got commission out of it. Then when they went for a Job they received Windows Computers because their company had a contract with Microsoft. But that's not a Computer user's fault if they have work they have to work on Windows and I would say please Don't mess with your work, that's providing you with your bread and butter. But I am not presenting a theory here this is a Fact. Secondly I don't Deny that there is a Major Issue when It comes to Creative Software & Gaming in Linux. Fortunately now Gaming Scene has Changed a lot Thanks to Valve. But in case of Creative Software I would say that there had a Lack of vision. They never Count Linux or Open Source as their Customer, that is of course for their Monetary gain. And to answer "linux users only fiddle witht the OS and nothing else" - I would say Linux users are the people who actually care about Computers they are serious about their hardware they own. They are curious about learning new thing. Finally tell us what is your view on - Microsoft's Forcing TPM and Their new Discovery Microsoft Recall?
@roklaca3138
@roklaca3138 6 часов назад
@@NixNexus360 recall is absolute security risk, this will not go well with EU legislation. TPM in my opinion will cause more problems than solve them, this is totally unnecessary requirement in win11.
