Why would Game Freak, a part-owner of the Pokemon franchise, give up its right to develop their games? What they should do is ask for more development time to polish their games. But we all know that's difficult because Pokemon is also owned by Nintendo and Creatures, who both want Pokemon games to be released faster so they can sell more consoles, trading cards, and toys.
we need a giant meteor to hit the plant and kill all 1000 pokemon, skip ahead a couple hundred years with new pokemon and new everything. No survivors.
The first one looks visually amazing with scenery and lighting but the second one hits hard with that nostalgic art and 3d environment, I'd definitely fork over the money for a remake in that style
You have no idea how visual appealing the second one is . If Nintendo did something anything close like this it would be amazing... But Nintendo would never , instead they are fine with empty world that look plain and unfinished
HD2D is basically the perfect art style for old-school-style RPGs in the modern day. If the 5th gen games do get remade, I'd love to see them in a similar style. The other style looks great too.
In the 90s they _did_ look like blocky baby toys. Literally. Look at that one artwork of Red and Blue where Blue's crossing his arms and Red isn't putting up with it. Or look at literally any other gen 1 Ken Sugimori artwork with Red in it; Red looks so incredibly blocky that it's not even funny. Even the 3D fangame style recreation of it makes Red's baseball cap look cuboid to accommodate for the blockiness of Ken Sugimori's early artstyle.
Holy magicrap the second one looks awesome! but no way in seven hells Nintendo would ever allow a fan to complete that or even Nintendo themselves to ever do stuff like that. Bummer.
The second art style, especially if they make the Pokemon in that style and not just the human characters. That would make for an amazing 30th anniversary remake of Pokemon Red and Blue.
The first style is refreshing for the series, but the second one would be very nostalgic. Nintendo should contact those artists and have them work on a Pokemon project.
