My church just sang Too Good to Not Believe yesterday. I personally know people who have seen cancer disappear and who have met people who God raised from the dead. I’ve seen miracles myself. They still happen. The blood still works. Jesus is still working miracles. This song is not incorrect.
The power of resurrection of the dead was specifically given only to the disciples that Jesus sent. Later 12 disciples stayed with Jesus but the healing instantly and raising the dead was still only for the apostles. Jesus taught the disciples to pray commencing with worship, then moving onto other aspects of prayer & praise. Worship is for God alone but other aspects (giving thanks, asking forgiveness) are to God, but also to others. It is just worship that is to God alone. We are actually told to confess our sins to one another. The lesson I am getting out of this video is "Don't be deceived, mistaking other communication with God as worship when it is not. Worship God first & foremost then move to other things 🙏 ".

My son who was worked on by paramedics (who tried to revive him) and then taken to the hospital, had no heartbeat or breathing for over 90 minutes, He was given an official time of death by a Doctor. My wife and I nelt by his trolley, and simply asked for him to come back and live in the name of Jesus, and God breathed life into him and he was alive. That was 18 years ago. Too Good to Not Believe is a song written so ppl will be reminded of the things that God's done in their lives. Have the song writers themselves seen cancer disappear? Seen bodies healed? Mental health restored? Real life resurrection? I don't know but I can tell you that I have and when I sing those words they mean something to me. They remind me of the goodness of God and they encourage others to seek God. I'm a very affectionate father towards my kids, something I didn't have growing up. My kids will just come and lay in my lap or lay in my arms just out of nowhere and for no reason and I'll hold them. I didn't have that growing up and to think that I have a Father that I can be that way with isn't "uncomfortable" or off-putting, it's wonderful. Again, this is how we are reminded of WHO God is in our lives and then WHO we are in Him. Humans have a very short memory and no matter what God has does for us in our lives, we tend to forget that the next time something comes along that rattles us. That's why we write songs like these to say God is all these things. Because He is and because of what He's promised, we know that we are what He's said we are and we have what He's said we have. It's not man-centered. If my kid comes to me and says "daddy will you spend time me? I want to play with you." Is he being self-centered? "Dad I feel great when we play together!" Is that self-centeredness. When my kids say things like that to me, I feel elated. When my wife says to me, "I'm so glad I married you" I don't think of that as being a "she-centered" comment. I love it. When we say, "God, I love being in your presence. Your presence changes me. Your presence makes my calms my chaos. I need you. I want to spend more time with you." I don't think God says, "Jeez what a self-centered person they are". I think He loves it. I'm not trying to be confrontational here but I think you're missing it.

I know He performs miracles. My husband and I tried for years to have a child. We now have 2 beautiful girls 10 & 11. They are my miracles. So I believe He performs miracle, not people but Him.
When I was a kid we sang a lot of songs that were bible verses set to music. They helped people a lot to memorize the Bible which is always right, never wrong, and good for everyone. The main thing wrong with these wonderful songs was that they can't be copy righted, so nobody can make money off of them.

Worship is not just singing songs to God, it's a lifestyle. If our practice contradicts our profession, if our legs don't line up with our lips & our walk doesn't line up with our talk, your worship will be false. Worship service in church are a preeminent of what Heaven is. We will bow down in fear of God, seeking nothing cause we deserve nothing. Church services are ALL about God, His mercy, His glory, His holiness, and much more. If any of you go to church to get something out of it, a good feeling, then you went for the wrong reason. Amen! I love that song. ESV Luke 8: 39 “Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him. I was having this conversation with my bf. He prefers hymnals where they basically sing scripture. I think that is great if that is what helps him to connect and feel his presence while worshipping. Yes, and without testimony how can we know God, it was through testimony of Moses, Abraham, Hannah, Noah,etc that we learned the power of God and they also sang praises to God. What I’ve learned about worship songs or any other Christian songs is that, regardless if the original song is man centered or not, it is up to us to shift the focus of that song. You can totally shift the focus of that song from self centered to God Centered. All about how you perceive it and your genuineness towards your gratefulness.

As someone who leads worship regularly at church, I really appreciate Allen’s emphasis on the necessity of the local church singing God-centered songs. Matt Redman talks about the importance of both songs that teach who God is as well as response songs. I think it’s healthy to start with songs that focus on teaching theology and then give people an opportunity to respond with songs of personal expressions of praise. The importance is having a balance; theologically weighty enough for people to learn who God is and what He’s done, but also personal enough that it’s not just head knowledge and people can worship God from the heart.
I have a problem with Mr Redman who quite happily joins himself with Bethel church and sings with them. Bethel's theology is all wrong and if the Apostle Paul were here today he might be quoting Galatians 1 to Mr Redman. I think there's a serious lack of discernment on Matt Redman's behalf.
This is very true... I am not a worship leader, but I am a worshipper... while I do believe the church as a whole does need to focus on worshipping Jesus alone, the Bible also says that David encouraged himself... how? He remembered the promises... someone in the comments said some songs aren't "congregational," which at first I thought was a valid point. HOWEVER, the church building is open to ALL people. Some don't have quiet time with the Lord... some are struggling when they walk into the sanctuary... they need encouragement and don't know how to do it themselves. So yes, while worship IS to Jesus, I believe the mature church should be doing this during the week in our quiet place... as worship leaders, I believe they are put on a platform to minister to the people, as unto God. The same as pastors, teachers, prophets, etc... their gifts are for the edification of the PEOPLE. Again, don't misunderstand what I am trying to say. I am by no means saying worship is for the people... please understand my heart. If the leaders do not show them HOW to worship, then how will they know? In my earlier years of struggling, so many times all it took was a song that expressed God's love for ME and how He sees ME that would cause me to break down and ultimately open my heart to the Lord... and THEN there came the grateful heart for all that He is, which lead to a heart of worship. So... again, I do agree there should be a balance; perhaps more leaning towards exclusive worship and some of promises and declarations... just my thoughts.

I pray that anyone who watches this video. Please for yourself, go and read the book of psalms. Many of these songs are 100% okay to sing and worship. The Lord absolutely wants you to lay in his arms, because we are his children and he is a good father. It is a beautiful thing to thank God and sing his praises and if your body was healed by cancer, or your business has seen increase because of the faithfulness you have shown by obeying God it is okay to turn your testimony into a song of worship that will inspire others! I am simply following Jesus and making myself available for Him to work through me. If a person is to get saved by accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, that is a miracle, but it was not in my power, I just made myself available for Jesus to use me where for what he wants to accomplish. I remember Michael W. Smith had a period where he leaned towards man centered music. Another artist, Wayne Watson, called him out on it and it hurt their friendship for a while. Yes, worship music should be focused on GOD, not on our feelings, our changes, our accomplishments. Sing about GOD! His power, His accomplishments, His characteristics.
That song is also "man-centered" because it's about him coming back...but it's not a real "worship" song. It's a testimony in music. I think we need to be able to tell the difference and that not all music or song lyrics sung in worship are actual "worship songs" and that's ok because your testimonies are also in spirit and truth. I do not believe that praise and worship needs to be all one way. People putting out how Jesus makes them feel IS praising Him for it. Just because we tell a story, doesn't make it unworthy of being called worship or praise. Granted, some stuff IS questionable, but some is not. You have to see the perspective and meaning behind the song.

Other than verses like John 3:16 almost every "promise" given in the Bible was given to one person or group not to everyone. If they were then why not claim the Abrahamic covenant and claim God is going to create a whole nation under your lineage. Even the "Great Commission" wasn't given to all. Otherwise why hasn't all Christians quit their jobs and gone out all over the world. We are called individually to do what God requires of us. No one can control God!

I do believe that God makes all things come together for our good. If these songs help people find God then I don't see anything wrong with them. But thank you for sharing your insight as someone who is spiritually mature. Let God be the judge of our hearts through Christ Jesus. At the end of the day, it's our personal walk with him that will matter.
I agree. This person seems extremely judgmental to me. God can use ANYTHING to minister to us. Even if a song is unbiblically correct and somebody gives their lives to Jesus during that song, then it was used for gods glory. I feel like you can’t fake Christianity. God truly is of different attributes..He could provide healing immediately (and people still ought to glorify His name for that), and He could still provide peace in suffering, just as in Psalms 23, 'Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil, for you are with me..' This verse proclaims that God will still provide peace even in our greatest turmoils (again, people ought to glorify His name for this peace that surpasses all human understanding during life's troubles)
The problem is that a lot really a lot of people take the Bible and worship songs to literally. It's not about the words, it's not about the songs, it's not about the feeling. It's all about Your heart connecting to Him. Every song that cries out to Him glorifies Him, I think God doesn't nick pick on a few words AND theologies that are 'wrong'. God is greater than that. He doesn't require perfect sacrifices, He only wants a whole heart.

I got electrocuted by a high power line, and I was declared dead by two different hospitals. My mother's rest in peace, who was a woman of faith, got in her kneel down and asked God in the name of Jesus's to restore my life according to his will and mercy🙏🙏 that was 34 years ago 🙏 So miracle can happen when you believe sir. I believe in miracles. I have seen many miracles in my lifetime. My daughter was healed by the Lord 20 years ago from glaucoma. My mother, at 45 years old she was very ill, her heart was too big. The doctors told us that she only had 3 or 6 months to live. My mother answered that only my father in heaven knows when is my time to go home. I will live all the years that the Lord has for me. When my mother passed away, she was 80 years old. She was a great-grandmother of 6.
Before I listened, this was my thought. Some songs are prayer. As we read the prayers of some in the bible, it inspires us and enables us to understand why we should be grateful to God.

Exactly. It’s a tool to get us into a place of positioning our hearts to pour out and receive love from our God. We don’t need to over analyze it. If the song helps you get in His presence, GREAT. If a particular song doesn’t, GREAT, listen to a different one that does.
One could just as easily say fruit is fruit. What's the big deal about not eating from that particular tree. Every thing has a source and that source is either light or darkness. Music is not just music. Think again. Some music are God inspired and some are not. I hardly believe if you are a christian you'd be listening to heavy metal for example because it obviously is not God inspired. The mistake that many make however which is what Allen is alluding to is that one has to discern. Just because the music sounds good and the lyrics might be catchy doesn't mean it is inspired music. The devil is smarter than most of us think.

The context given in the story of the Samaritan woman is so concise and enlightening to the whole encounter. God does amazing things in His time, and His time is always impeccable. If I may add, listening to this with earbuds, the sound quality is noticably clear and balanced. I appreciate the quality of production that's going into this video.

Sometimes in expressing how YOU feel towards someone helps you recognize all the reasons why you love that person.... so if God makes me feel safe, loved, seen... then it helps me recognize how beautiful He is, how merciful and faithful and giving He is... and from a full heart I give him praises and I worship Him with singing AND in my daily walk... remember, worship isn't just about singing...

This is why I only listen to older hymns and songs of praise. I'm far less likely to come across something that might be questionable. "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" are two of my favorites.

I first heard the phrase "Jesus is my boyfriend" music about 25 years ago. It instantly clarified why some songs grieved my spirit back then and opened my eyes to see which songs were man-centered and which were God-centered. What's sad is 25 some years later, it's worse now than back then, and still people hardly recognize the issue. Thanks for bringing this up with clarity. As many have said we are more self-centered than God centered in our music, our way of life, our thoughts and thus our worship. I ask you to read your comment and truly ask yourself what glory does God get in what you have said.

Thank you, Allen Parr for that excellent teaching and history of the Samaritans. You have a point about modern-day worship songs. Recently, I listened to an old hymn on RU-vid, song by a large choir of men and women. Those traditional Biblical hymns do more for me than many of the worship songs coming out these days. It's not only man-centered, but also comes across as worshiping the entertainment of worship instead of worshiping the one who is worthy of all our praise.
@Christ Saves! Read Romans 10:9 Unfortunately there are dangerous doctrines being taught in the RCC. I love my Catholic friends but I am concerned for those who do not believe that they can pray directly to God because Jesus is alive in us. Praying to dead people and worshiping idols and worshiping human beings like Mary before even worshiping Jesus are dangerous practices. Having some one else do our repenting for us and confessing to a human being and not God of our sins is dangerous. Thinking specific prayers or readings are required to be forgiven for our sins is unbiblical also. Confession keeps us from repenting to God ourselves and prevents us from being humbled before God. I am not here to judge anyone who loves Jesus or otherwise. Only God can judge hearts. The most of these is love and Matthew 22 34 to 40 shows us what that is all about.
Except his explanation of who the Samaritans were was factually incorrect. They were not the result of the Babylonian Exile. That occurred only to Judah and the 2 Southern Tribes. It was the result of the Assyrian Exile that happened earlier to the 10 Northern Tribes that comprised Israel after the Kingdom was divided when Solomon died.
I’ve watched some of your other videos that you have great thoughts on, but I sensed a lot of misunderstanding about what these songs were even saying in this video. Before I say anything else, I need to state that I am in no way offended about anything that you said, but am at complete peace as a say all of this. I say everything here as encouragement as a brother in Christ! For credibility sake, I am also very knowledgeable of what the Bible says concerning a LOT of theological topics, and I continually encourage others to look for the right music VERY often. Therefore, this is by no means a foreign ground to what I am already living out and encouraging others in daily. Firstly, you are right about all of the points that you made. However, none of the examples that you used were actually good ones. Yes, there is music that we need to be wary of, but the songs you mentioned are 100% fine if taken in the intended context. In “Too Good Not to Believe”, I do not understand how anything said in the verses you used as examples go against anything in the Bible. We HAVE seen miracles, and we know that God can do it again! For “Champion”, it may seem a bit man centered if you look at it in a particular way, but the Bible actually does say that through Jesus, we have been given authority of Satan. Furthermore, the miracles it is referring to don’t always have to be physical, but regardless, God works miracles when we pray. In the song “Closer”, it does say “I” and “me” a good bit, but it is thanking God for what He has done in my life. For comparison, it’s kind of difficult to write a thank you letter to someone for what they’ve done for you, without including the element of…”you”! When praising God for His attributes, I say things one way in regards to Him more specifically, but when thanking Him for what He has done in my life, I sort of have to mention myself. The exact same thing applies to prayer. Otherwise, the relationship merely feels one sided and distant. So through all of this, are you telling me that you don’t believe God is extremely personal and that He doesn’t perform miracles of various kinds when we call on His name through faith within His will? It’s not like God has an obligation to heal the person we are praying for, but He will most certainly work some miracle through the process, even if it be no more than in our hearts. Needless to say, I didn’t hear the message that I thought I would when I first opened up this video. In fact, I was just a bit taken aback as I watched it, and was confused as how such a simple Biblical concepts could be misunderstood when observing these songs. Three things that I know hold true in our faith is that God can can do all things, that I have authority over all manner of evil through Jesus, and that Christ has taken me over to the a point that all I want is to be with Him! So please don’t cause those younger in their faith to be confused by addressing songs that aren’t even an issue. We need to stand in unity, and the last thing that we need is to become more legalistic about the music we listen to. I’m not saying that everything popular is Biblically sound or that those major worship music producers don’t have man centered music at times. What I am saying is, please use discernment when looking at which of those song are man centered and which ones aren’t. I can definitively say, without a shadow of a doubt after praying about this, that none of these songs take the focus off of God and what He is doing! Again, I say none of this make it out as though this is me versus you, but merely as my encouragement to compare these songs and what you are thinking about them to the Bible before you go through making an entire video about it that doesn’t have great examples in it. The points themselves that you made were mostly spot on, but the songs that you chose to bash on were not bad songs by any means. This is just speculation, but to genuinely have an issue with songs about God performing miracles, you have to believe that God no longer does miracles of healing today. Are you telling me that prayer with faith as small as a mustard seed can’t move a mountain when we speak it into existence with faith that God will fulfill His promises according to His will? I’ve personally seen healings take place, watched God’s prophecies in my life be fulfilled, and seen the power of prayer! Things change when we speak, because God hears us, and the Devil can’t stand it! Actually, the Bible says to do things out of doubt in the absence of faith is sin (Romans 14:23). Paul uses food as an example in that passage, but he is applying it more broadly than just eating. An example of worship that doesn’t bring its focus to God is “Water is Wild” by Elevation Worship. I love many of Elevation’s other songs, but this one is honestly a stretch.
I always wanted to better understand “in spirit and in truth”. And to further prove that God can pull the good out of a situation - one of the most famous parables is of the Good Samaritan.

Please do not preach as gospel the precepts of men. Knowing this, that " by your words shall you be justified and by your shall you be condemned." By stating the only true salvation is through being Catholic you make God a liar ( to yourself.) Besides, if you'd like to get technical James, the brother of Jesus, was considered. By the 1st disciples and apostles, to be the 1st pope as he handed down the initial ruling in Acts 15:19 when he said "Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles have turned to God: but that we write unto them, that they abstain from the pollutions of idols, and fornication, and things strangled, and from blood. Please also notice that the Gentiles turned to God, not the Catholic church. Knowing this too. That those that do righteousness are righteous, even as He is righteous. 1Jn 3:7 You would do well to read Proverbs.
Check out Derek Princes book "Entering the Presence of God" there is a section on that topic with a very systematic and deep theological exposition of the spirit and truth passage that is more adherent to the Scripture and not personal opinion.
I love how honest and balanced you are in explaining this topic. You are not being legalistic, but you are also not being "loosey goosey" with what the definition of true worship is.
Champion is an absolute banger though. If you are having Spiritual Warfare put that song on blast especially the part of “I HAVE THE AUTHORITY JESUS HAS GIVEN ME” it is gonna do wonders. IMO if the songs remind people of the actual Word of God in its context then it is a very powerful weapon against the enemy. Remember, our fight is not of flesh and blood but about stronger forces that seek to divide the church 🤷🏻♀️

I like your delivery, however some of these songs were inspired by the Psalms of David. In your categorization, Psalm 23 would make a good example of a man-centred song. Infact a lot of David's Psalms would make your categorization of man-centred like Psalm 91. I agree that worship must be primarily God=centred, but some of these songs are scripturally accurate in their delivery. Like Champion. The phrase 'When I open up my mouth, miracles start breaking out' is not literal, because one would need to open up their mouth and eat breakfast, or say hello. But that phrase is oriented around the theme of the song which is speaking out the word of God in faith . Miracles happened when Jesus, Paul, Peter and other disciples 'opened up their mouth to speak'. Jesus told his disciples that if they had faith like a mustard seed they would 'speak' to the mountain an it would be moved. I believe Jesus was speaking to us as well when he said that . In conclusion I love ur delivery as always, but I don't agree when u say that these songs are not based on truth.
@Griffin Brown... I completely agree. There is nothing wrong with telling God you need him, I love you Lord, etc. At the same I have proclaimed his greatness, his healing power, or thank you Father for being my provider. Which last time I read the Word of God's, he's all of the above. So yes while some songs speak in a "I" sense, there's enough examples of that in the Bible. We should be on both sides of worship. Thanking him for what he's done for you, as well as telling our Father what we love about his nature. Just my thought
There is a difference between praise and worship! Praise is thanking God for what He has done and worship is acknowledging God for who He is! It’s a lifestyle! Worship is about the who not the what!
Agree we need good theology and worship songs need to be biblical, but Psalms in the Bible came in various formats. Some were praise to Him, some were very “I centered” prayers… some were testimony of what he had seen God do. I think this video has great reminders to consider but it lacks context of all the varied types of worship highlighted in Scripture.
In fact Psalm 23 is two fold. First telling sheep in another field how their shepherd cares for them. Second it then speaks to their shepherd acknowledging their joy in His care.

I believe the key is Word aligned music: The song below may seem man centered but this song is a prayer just like Closer by Bethel music. Others may be proclamation or testimonies. I’ve seen healings and have been healed myself. As a Christian have you not? Definitely seen half of these things in my life. I’ve seen a lifetime smoking addiction healed in my friend. I’ve seen my own depression and insomnia and thus my own family healed by God miraculously. So “troubled souls redeemed and families reunited” , yes. My own cousin in Singapore was miraculously saved from a car accident - while crossing the road he was about to be hit by a car - and he was miraculously transported to the pathway - both him and the driver were astounded. A pastor I knew well in India - cast a demon out of a child who was possessed. When he demon left - it smashed the heavy metal gate outside the house and left a claw like mark on the door. As for cancer, there are many personal testimonies of cancer healed in word of faith churches - And it’s not just in deliverance ministry or word of faith churches. Plenty of people in Pentecostal churches and more open Baptist churches experience healing. It’s just that healing isn’t always for us and not necessarily for every believer. We have limited view of things in light of Gods greater purpose. So we accept that if healing doesn’t come - or is delayed- God has a higher reason for it. I lived through many years of depression first before God healed me - and that was for a very specific reason - so I would understand that everything the world has to offer won’t fix the problem and that he needed to teach me compassion for others - And that he is above all things and that I needed to truly understand him and rely on him. It finally healing came at the planet shakers conference - very much a Pentecostal setting that was the catalyst for god doing his miraculous work in my life - although it was all part of his plan :)
Petra sang many God-centered songs in the seventies and eighties. Bob Hartman wrote one great song after another and many of the lines rhymed. I am happy to say that there are still great songs being created that focus on Who God is and what He does or has done. 🙏 Lord, give us the wisdom to listen to music that focuses on You and not us. The lessons are good, but your application has crossed the line. In a lot of Psalms, we see "I" being used where Psalmist appreciates what God is able to do, what he did before etc Let's understand the whole context of songs, not just picking one line or one verse. It's like if I pick one line from your sermon, I will miss the bigger picture. it's good to analyze everything with the word of GOD, and that includes your sermon as well, like the way the Bereans were doing. Examining the Scriptures to see if what Paul was saying was the truth. SO MY POINT IS LET'S STUDY THE WORD OF GOD!!! Invest in the word Stay blessed!!!
Hey Allen, great video as always. But I do have to share a testimony of the song "too good to not believe". When I was at my lowest point, during much tribulation, Fall of 2021, that's when I grew the closest to God, and decided to start walking in faith and in the Spirit as I only had Jesus to hold on to at that point in my life. Nothing else. And I discovered that song and it helped me step out in faith, and pray for people, and see miracles take place in real life! Preaching on the mic and sharing my testimony on mic downtown Montreal, praying for people on the streets from Montreal to Toronto and then later on Dubai. Seeing demons cast out, and bodies healed. Even my body healed! I would say, for me there's nothing wrong with those lyrics at all. All of those things are possible through Jesus. (not here for any arguments for those in the comment). Yep! Many of us actually have seen cancer healed etc right in front of our eyes. This song is a declaration of faith bc of what we have seen Jesus do, not “word of faith”. It’s very easy to boomerang to the Baptist thinking bc of goofballs like Copeland, et al - and that’s a shame. They are missing out on seeing what the Holy Spirit will do when we have faith and ask. Jesus said, “tell this mountain to move!”
@@melaniem4070 Judging and using curse words against a person and a brother who is preaching Salvation through accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior who dies on the Cross to pay for our sins that we may be saved by believing in him is something we should be very careful of. Are people getting saved at Copland's services? Yes they are. Do we have any perfect pastors or teachers in any Church who never sin or make a mistake? Calling names and Judging hearts is something we are told never to do. Gossiping about someone behind their backs is as sinful as murder the Bible tells us. Even if a brother is wrong we should never speak cruel words against them or petition our hearts against them. The devil wants to see us be prideful and demand perfection and works based salvation being taught when it is faith based. I am concerned for you as I do not think you see the danger and spiritual attacks you open yourself to when name calling others. It is not Gods character to do this and we are to try to be more like Jesus. If that brother is wrong the Bible tells us to go to them with love in our concerns and if they do not listen to bring another till they see it. Talking about them to other people is giving oneself permission to disobey God and have unforgiveness in our hearts.

Our church pastor just gave this sermon last week. There are miracles that only God can do, like Jesus raised the dead, and also some people are chosen to do miracles to heal the sick, etc those are the big miracle that we see in the Bible. But for everyone like you and me, we can perform miracles by singing our praise and worship. When facing trials, sickness, life challenges, and we still can praise God with our mouths, or sing with our voice that God is good, God is my saviour, worshiping His faithfulness through all seasons of our life, That's us performing miracles. We can wait for God's miracles but we also have the privilege to perform our miracles by praising and worshipping God no matter our life situation. ------ So let’s stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall. Romans 14:13 NLT

The Lord has brought back life through using my lips and Faith. If you think people are not raised from the dead in His name you are sadly mistaken. IT IS BY THE HAND OF GOD AND NOT OUR OWN. If you have discernment its also clear to grasp that Champion is for those who abide in God and the holy spirit and cling to allowing God to work in our lives. Because we don't have to accept what the world imposes on us, like depression, do we not then as children of God who are supposed to have a relationship with God have the authority to say "I declare in Jesus name, healing from depression, which is not of God, but is a lie from the enemy".

@IzzyNChrist No that's very shallow thinking, while yes people can use it incorrectly, and there are people who do not know how to pray, there is precedence for it, just look at Isaiah 12:4, when used correctly "we declare" is about asserting God's power and dominion, in faith, making it heard that you recognize and call on that authority above anything else, especially when the enemy attacks, declaration is found in the Bible, and using it in prayer is often done along with rebuke of demonic presence, declaring God's plan God's will, God's power, God's purpose, God's sovereignty, not telling God what to do, but establishing a verbal acknowledgement of who God is and that you regard God as the one in control of everything.
@@TheSweetSerenity7 The word "declare" or "proclaim" are not being used in the same context of claiming a prayer request being answered. "And in that day shall ye say, Praise the Lord, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted." this verse just means to make his name known for the good he has done.
Thank you for this message! I have been having this conversation with my wife, who is a Praise Team leader in a small church. They sing over tracks and some of the available songs' message is WRONG!!!! Due to the lack of a musician, they have limited selections that they can sing, but some of this so-called worship music is garbage.
The problem is not with just so-called "worship music" but a ton of CCM (I prefer to call it commercial "christian" music) is just plain vapid and vacuous, and more often than not leaves me wondering if these people ever read their bibles or if they've ever been properly schooled in biblical theology. (Obviously not for many of them.) Frankly, I'd rather listen to secular music.

If worship is supposed to engage with the spirit and be from the heart, why is it wrong to speak in first person. David did it in like all the psalms. If I have been changed by God and I say "thank you for saving me, I am grateful for your love". I am not making it about me. I am making it about how his love is not only great but also is personally offered to even someone as screwed up as me.

Not certain which songs you're referring to, but if Hillsong/Bethel/Lauren Daigle - they are changing the world. I'm 74, lifelong Lutheran. Know this, those young artist's songs have same message presented for hundreds of years, effective International outreach to young people.
They are changing the WORD, not World. Bethel's logo is the Norse Horned God, which is LUCIFER. Lauren Daigle is Daegel, an illuminati family; she has videos of her being caught making all the Masonic hand signs. Hillsong is also a den of occult, plenty of proof online go find it.

Seeing a mother dog take in an orphan kitten "blesses" me. I have an emotional reaction. But do the songs that bless us, speak the truth about or to God? What would you do if you heard someone you loved, call you wreckless? WRECKLESS LOVE OF God? In one moment we are singing miracles come out of our mouth, in another we are telling people not to question wether God can heal cancer. How bout we think about the faithful brothers and sisters in Christ that would have absolutely given glory to God if he healed their cancer? Their loved ones near us sing these songs and have a lot of feelings that i can assure your arent feelings of being "blessed." Nabeel Kureshi is one that went to Bethel and believed the prophecies and sang the songs. He walked in faith right up to the day he died of cancer.

That's not the part that's wrong. They are inferring they have seen resurrections. He definitely can, as our creator. But it is not something that likely happened.

Some of the man-centered songs are great for personal worship in our own devotional time, but not necessarily right for corporate worship. Those songs often mean something personally to you so it’s effective in that setting. But I agree that when we are leading a congregation in worship its important to mainly focus on God-centered songs. Thanks for your insight. This is another confirmation of what I’ve felt being led to do in ministry.
Very well said. I am a worship dancer and I was told you can’t dance to every song that sounds good. You have to have discernment in the spirit and let the spirit lead you to what song to dance to or sing. Thank you for the Word!❤

Not for everyone, for most true christians its about honoring and praising God which is what WORSHIP is “Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song” Psalm 95:1-2
@@RiizeYT Agreed. But I always wonder, what will happen if you put off the the smoke machine, discobal, the emotional keyboard and turn on the normal lights. Many people in the Word of Faith churches won't "feel" God's present anymore. Because it was never about true worship. It's all about feeling God's present. Example: "The spirit of the Lord is here, I feel it in the atmosphere". If those people will not have the help anymore of the emotional piano sound in the background, they will feel nothing and leave the church. Not everyone ofcourse, but many allas.
As a 45 year old who has lead the music portion of a worship service (the WHOLE service is worship) for 20 years, I can say that this type of caution is much needed. God's word has never had any limbo in it. Never look at His word, His music or our communication with Him as "what I think He's saying is . . ." It must always be "what He said was . . ." Our feelings don't matter, they're fickle and they change. His characteristics matter, they're solid and never change. Not all Christian music is mint to be used in a corporate worship setting. Alot of songs are just mint for personal listening in the car or at home. Many "worship leaders" struggle with identifying the songs that don't belong in a corporate setting AND we have the problem of heretical song lyrics. If you cant find a song lyrics teaching in the Bible - kick it to the curb homie.
I've been in music ministry since I was 13, and I wholeheartedly agree, 21 years of ministry and there are hundreds of songs I have written that are NOT suitable for corporate worship, but they are good reminders of my testimony for personal worship. There is some strong decernment that needs to be had when choosing worship music for corporate worship. I attend an ACC (pentecostal) affiliated church, and there are some worship songs by elevation, bethel and hillsong that do not meet our theological assessments by our senior leadership, and as a result, are not in our rotating list of over 400 songs.
@@sez-jhammond6646yes. The problem with these groups is that they are rooted in the false NAR teachers Very sad. We need to pray for their eyes to be open that they are following the devil’s teaching:”You can be like God”.
I played on the p&w team at our former church & that was a big problem there. A lot of the songs they played were played more for the way they were written & not their Biblical base. I believe that was what led me to see the church turning away from Biblical teaching & eventually leave there. I appreciate the fact that you, as a worship leader, place a priority on Biblically based music being used. God Bless!

My spiritual growth has come essentially from what I heard in music growing up. Especially Ernie Rettino's Psalty taught me to worship and praise God in spirit and in truth 🙌🤲🙏🏼

Why can't we just love and worship Jesus, let the Holy Spirt lead us into all truth. Just because we might have some different theological beliefs doesn't mean we are all decived. If you truly have the Holy Spirit living in you he will guide and direct you on what worship music is or isn't appropriate. God bless!
Theology does matter though, The Holy Spirit is not going to lead you into wrong theology, and if a person is speaking wrong theology they aren't speaking from The Holy Spirit but from their own logic or emotions.
I think that a lot of points were brought up that were great. However when it comes to worship songs and saying "I love you lord, thank you for what you are doing in my life, ive seen your goodness and I want to know you more and more' is giving God the praise. It is you showing your heart to the lord, acknowledging that he is the lord of your life. At 15:40 you kind of did the same thing you were speaking against a little bit which was a little confusing to me. But Yes I also think we need to make sure we are also saying "you are good God, thank you Jesus, Im sorry for my sin, You are righteous" But singing to god that you want to be closer to him- there's nothing wrong with that. Jesus refers to us being the bride and he is the groom which would be an intimate relationship with him. Psalms is a great example. David is constantly saying lord save me, lord I need you, lord you have delivered me, I repent of my sin, deliver me from evil and keep me close to you and point out my sin. he also says God is righteous, God is good, the lord is just. There is a mix in the Bible. While yes sometimes I think there is maybe too much of what the lord has done for me music-We should be praising God for what he as done. We should be singing about the ways hes moved in our lives. We should be confessing our mistakes to Him. there's nothing wrong with it in general as long as it is a proper mix of using personal statements and less personal statements such as "God is good and righteous" and has a heart of praising the lord.
I was thinking the same .... thought of David in Psalms. And was also confused by his position at the same place in the video that you pointed out. Knowledge of the Word is key in discerning if the lyrics are not of sound theology. I exhort the congregation from the Psalms a lot especially before we get started. David's love for God and his hunger for God's presence is beautiful and always a good starting point when you are encouraging the congregation to engage and connect with God through worship.
There are times in my lufe when I have spoken words which came from the Holy Spirit. God can speak through us. I don't grasp this message but I will watch it again.
