I can relate so much, James. AR-Glasses would be such a nice wearable. Imagine always seeing the Date and Time in the Corner of your View in low opacity mode. Or seeing arrows on the street when you are using maps.

I’m in Orlando and my mind immediately goes to leisure, vacations, and of course theme parks. I got the first pair of Spectacles with third party transition prescription lenses for that purpose and it is fantastic for not getting in the way of your vacation experience. Of course those looked super funky and were older and laggy and required Snapchat. I am super hyped for these because I already wear Ray Bans and these could easily replace my every day glasses. Camera glasses really do help you be more present in the moment. That’s also why I think them offering prescription lenses and untinted lenses is such a cool thing. Awesome to share on-ride footage. Haunted house walkthroughs? I did that at Horror Nights with the original Spectacles and the video is awesome!

I gave the vid a like bc James is an excellent host and the editors do a good job. However, I don't like Facebook and I don't like Facebook videos very much. I hope this feedback helps bc my feelings are more complicated than 👍 or 👎. I like and appreciate you guys more than I hate Facebook and I hate Facebook a lot.

This is the perfect product for the people who have always dreamt of taking a camera to a nude beach, but didn't want to deal with the criminal charges. In conclusion, I strongly dislike this product, and I suspect 95 % of the people buying these will be using them to take creepy stalker footage of women.

I hope these get banned by public places like restaurants... The fact that Facebook can and lets be real here WILL record anything you and the people around you do to sell all this information to advertisers is just Cyberpunk level creepy.

The best combination of Facebook and Ray-bans since the last time one of my Facebook friends was hacked to post sunglasses spam.

Good call on James calling out the pointless packaging magnets. The only thing that does is make the packaging harder to recycle (the industry refers to it as contamination). If I spot them in packaging, I'll try to pick them out (not always easy) but I'm sure a lot of people don't.

With those Ray Ban sunglasses on, James looks like a young Canadian Tom Cruise from Risky Business.

My hunch on why the glasses won't post directly to Facebook or Instagram: the audience is different from Snapchat's. Because of the impermanent nature of the content, Snapchat users are way less concerned about presenting a refined version of themselves. Everything they post is going to vanish pretty quickly. Facebook/Instagram users tend to put more effort towards polishing and refining their posts because it's staying up FOREVER, so they'd likely want to review their pictures and videos before posting.

You should have called it: the sunglasses look great, but they think you look great too

I got these on launch, I love them. My only gripe about them is the poor selection of lenses, I would like normal black polarized lenses, but only non-polarized is available. However still great for taking photos or videos in those situations where pulling out your phone is inappropriate/not allowed (i.e. while driving), inconvenient (i.e. if you're sitting down and your phone is trapped in your pocket), or especially useful when you need to capture something very quick, faster than the time it takes to waste time pulling out and fumbling with your phone to get it into camera or video mode (i.e. animal encounter or spontaneous event). I also love the music player, the music comes out clear enough, and it's great for listening to music in situations where wearing earbuds is not allowed or you still want to hear your environment. Such as when I go to a store, or walking out in public, I can still listen to music and hear what's going on. however the #1 situation i find for these is if you're a passenger in a friend or family member's car, can listen to your music rather than just their poor taste of music, and still hear anything they say. The #1 and immediate hack you need to do when you get these, either get a bit of black oil paint from an artstore or cut a small piece of black electrical tape, and cover the white led that faces outward.. not sure why anyone would want to draw attention to themselves and their glasses if they take a photo or video clip when out in public. I understand that it's done so people know you're taking a video/photo, but in all honesty I see it as no different than taking a photo/video with your phone, and your phone doesn't flash a outward led when doing do. So I chose to cover the led for this reason.

Early steps in a direction I think tech is going. In a couple decades I could easily see AR glasses completely replacing our smartphones the way smartphones replaced flip phones. Why spend the time to pull out your phone to answer a call when you can make a gesture or say a voice command? What better way to take a picture of something you're experiencing than from you direct point of view? What fun games could you play that utilize your environment? There's a ton of potential here

They would be cool for something like GoPro replacement, but only if you can remove all Facebook software and just film and transfer it to the PC.

Did product testing for them, biggest downside to any sportsperson hoping to use them for sports is that it's only 30 seconds per recording. I didn't get an opportunity to try them in such a setting, but the Zuck recording himself fencing is a good demonstration of their potential in sports videography. Not good if you're planning on first-person sports photos, unless you're playing chess or checkers. They don't do too well when you're looking at bright light sources like fluorescent light. The touch-slider on the right arm is frustrating to use if you have hair that isn't short and straight. Tested on an iphone, the app didn't crash at all.

Did you know that facebook can lock the account and take all of your purchased games away from you if you can't show ID to confirm you're the facebook account owner? Basically give us your data or we're stealing your money.

Ahh yes, all cameras include facial recognition, 24/7 microphone and camera surveillance, built in GPS, and free cellular service which you can’t even use, just for us.

14:32 you're probably better off with a GoPro for sports. The glasses are rather limited I feel and also the helmet will probably cover their cameras. And if you're biking without a helmet, then there's a chance of the glasses falling off.

I feel like these will be supported in FOSS programs that respect your data at some point. Edit: The location services thing is an Android limitation sadly.
