"On Tuesday, Capitol Press congressional reporter Pablo Manríquez published a series of what he said were "briefing documents on Ted Cruz donors" on X, formerly Twitter, before they were deleted from the platform with a message saying they had "violated the X Rules."
The papers appeared to have been written for Cruz, a Republican senator from Texas, ahead of upcoming meetings and contained information about various potential donors' families and professional backgrounds, political interests, and past donations. Manríquez posted unredacted photos of the documents, which also included personal information such as addresses and telephone numbers."

This country is so corrupt. My family can't even afford to pay our bills for basic housing, utilities and food. My adult daughter and her husband are moving back in with us because they are about to have a baby and the landlord is raising the rent and they can no longer afford it. This country is a mess and I don't see it getting any better with our current representatives.

I argue that Citizens United/the idea that money equals free speech is wrong. The 1st Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees everyone the right to speech, petition, assembly, religion, & press, & the government can't discriminate based on these factors. However, the 1st Amendment (as well as most of the rest of the Amendments) say nothing directly about the right to have money. While we need money to survive in our capitalist society, the problem is that not everyone has equal access to money. Not every person in the U.S. makes the same amount of money annually, so wealth inequality will always exist. Furthermore, if money does indeed equal speech, then you having less money basically means you have less speech. It's like how the 1 C.E.O. has far more influence over a company despite their being 100s of employees who do far more, but they make less & have less (if any) say over the company's decisions. Even if everyone is allowed to donate to their politicians, those politicians are more likely to listen to the 1 person who donated far more than 100s or 1,000s of poor & middle class people who donated what little they could. Also, I don't get how it is legal for a millionaire or billionaire in 1 state to donate to a politician when they are running for a Governor or Congressional seat in a state that wealthy individual doesn't live in. Finally, corporations are not individuals, so they should not have the same rights as individuals since they are made up of many people of all backgrounds, including different economic backgrounds. So money should not be considered free speech since a small minority can afford to pay more to our politicians than the overwhelming majority who may have differing views than the wealthy & the corporations.

Corporations are owned by their shareholders. It is unconstitutional to own people. QED corporations are not people. If the expenditure of money was protected free speech, then almost no trade regulations would be constitutional. Money is not speech.

A few years ago, I did an anthropological study on subsidies, American policy, and human behavior. The study was based of a hundred record years and I found that there is a correlation between subsidies, policy, and donations in politics that influences what citizen’s diet behavior looks like. I made a compelling research study that own me a prize. I did collect as I thought my research won’t move the envelope at all so what’s the point. I regret being such ethical extremist lol

I mean, i learned this scheme from the plot of the 1992 film “The Distinguished Gentleman“ starring Eddie Murphy. Too bad POTUS & the generation of influencers who brought us to Citizens United found the first half & “party leadership” had it right.
