TZ is wonderful but it is NOT the U.S. or Dubai for that matter. Developing countries should be more than happy to receive people who are willing to invest their life savings and come there to live with all the right intentions. In immigration and government interactions in Tanzania, do not employ any intermediaries. Tanzanian Immigration has strict requirements for student resident permits which listed on the Tanzanian Immigration website. I have a multiple entry visa but I am applying for a business residence permit and it will take some time.
That's the truth our brothers and sister need to hear. Tanzanian authorities know what is going on. Hence, they are filtering the list to get those with good intentions to contribute to the country's development rather than going around the streets of Dar taking photos and RU-vid videos in the name of Swahili language students. If you have good intentions, follow strict requirements. Go to the Tanzania Investment Centre, establish a business, and you will have no problem. Otherwise, the three months visa is enough for loiters to enjoy the Tour and get back to the developed world of America.
@Belltown Daisy Read between the lines. I do not support scammers. I encourage people with good intentions to come and develop the Africa continent. I have a problem with those who go to Africa and promote harmful practices, shortcuts, bribes, corruption etc. Some foreigners intend to get visas using harmful practices. Ask them if they are practically learning Swahili?. They do not even attend these schools. If you get conned, don't come here crying and portraying like the Africa continent is full of scammers. To stop future scammers is follow proper ways of getting visas. Otherwise, do not come to Africa. Africa welcomes those who want to develop it, not loiters with empty pockets who aim to bend the rules to save just a few coins.
Hey EDDIE, i m sorry for what you went through, scammers must be explosed, also be careful on school you pic, try to pick reputable school, i studied, JAPAN, SOUTH AFRICA AND WEST Americo, i had always pick the reputable schools, check the histry of the schools, dont just go for the word of other friends or facebook friends , do your own research , The Immigration department have always list of schools for foreigners to learn african languages like Swahili, Zulu, Twii, Xhosa, etc, . I recommend you to find that list.again im so sorry to hear what CHEY had gone though , sorry CHEY
Appreciate you for articulating what happened to me as well as many others. This is very disgusting behavior from people that were supposed to be trustworthy enough to deliver a service I paid for with hard earned money! I still can't believe this happened to me 😭😭 The scams are really becoming more and more frequent & they must be stopped!! It just hurts to think that someone that looks like you can have so much distain in their heart to screw you over without batting an eye. My response coming soon!

Exactly. Black people from anywhere should never scam other black people, period. All of us have been through way to much for generations and hundreds of years, so it's just stupid. And then we also look like fools when we scream "black lives matter" when the DON'T to other black people. I see that the Arabs for example had the pleasure to set up a big sting operation not too long ago to capture the huge African (nigerian) scammer Hushpuppi. This guy got VERY lucky too because the Arabs originally did NOT want to send him out to the U.S. but just jail him themselves---- but they went ahead and agreed to let U.S. authorities handle him. If the Arabs jailed Hushpuppi's a*s would have been utterly DOOMED.
Most Arab are Mix with African from the Eastern, the Same as African American Mix with other people there in US, so why Cant we African from Eastern never acepted them, they are From this side too
I'm from Tanzania and I live here in US for about 10+ yrs now. My advice for everyone who trying to move to Tanzania, find any Tanzanian in your local state ask them they will give you a good advice for free before you end up fall in wrong people. Is true there are some scammers around there and they scam everyone even local Tanzanians they get scammed.

To be honest I’m always extremely and I mean extremely cautious when handling over money to minorities in America and it becomes 10x’s greater aboard. The amount of money being requested sounds unbelievable especially and I never would’ve did it. Normally the university should’ve provide you with some documentation with a price and you could verify it with the Taz embassy

Did they have a storefront? Letterhead?, credentials?…these are the questions anyone should ask or they get nothing! People like these don’t refund, so be proactive and basically use street smarts when dealing with them. You can’t be too nice, business is business! This is just disgusting!

Why do we as Aa think Africa is best for us? I'm so tired of aa and diaspora getting scammed in Africa. Aa have legal protection. If my money gets scammed I can go report it. When my daughter and I visited Tanzania we had a really rough time. I was stolen from and chased in Zanzibar by taxi drivers for money. It was ridiculous. I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to scare my family. I vowed to never return to that country. Men were snatching money from me and I was being overcharged constantly. Also people were always offering side deals there. I was taken aback by the integrity of this country. It’s $250 just to leave the airport. My daughter was so traumatized. Men called the police on me and pulled over my taxi in Zanzibar saying to give them money. Be careful there!!!! They will scam and rob you in Dar Es Salam and Zanzibar!
It was $100 dollars per person for visa at airport and $25 for another COVID test in spite of having one before leaving your respective country. They were very money hungry there. I got in the taxi of a man with everything on a person is supposed to have on. He allowed men to rob me at the gas station by Tanzania airport. I was so confused and taken aback by the condition of the city. He pulls up to the airport and tells me to pay this guy standing out there. I said is this coming out of your wage to drop me and my child off??? The man sees me pull out money. He then snatched it out of my hand. I looked at the driver confused. By the end of the drive they have confused me and taken every dollar I had. Mind you I had 2 hundred dollars of USD. Hey I am only warning you!!!!! I felt really sick there!!!! Everyone was begging and being extremely aggressive towards wanting American money! Be careful in Zanzibar!!!! The man who took my money there chased me down the street and reported me to the police. He wanted the police to restrict me and make me give him more money. I screamed so loud that the immigration officer at the port got scared and let me and my daughter go. That country is impoverished.
I was a foreigner with a child. Thankful for the Most High protecting me and my daughter and getting us out of there safely. That was my primary focus. I didn’t even know if the police was somebody we could trust. I may look into reporting to the US Embassy.

IF it were me, the first thing I would've done if I was positive they were targeting African Americans was to contact U.S Congress,, The Black Caucus: Maxine Walter's and Sandra Lee, and then the U.S Consulate in Tanzania, and then inform higher-ups in the Tanzanian goverment. Ensure higher ups in Tanzania goverment know what is going on so that when the U.S. government ring their phone they won't have a lost for words. Very few are citizens. But there are other routes to residency, e.g. obtaining a business permit. But that is very costly and has to be renewed every two years.
