I’m 42 years old and I still play competitively. Don’t sell yourself short my dude, you are not too old to play competitively. Love the tips and as always content is crispy clean.
Hey Trevor, I’m not sure if you’ll see this but I actually took your putting tip. I had a my first MA3 Tournament Sept 30th (12 days after this video was released) and completely broke down my form to get the same grip you use. I ended up winning the tournament and I don’t think I would have won it if I didn’t stumble upon this video so thank you!
Hey Trevor, idk if you’ll ever see this but if you doI just want to say that both of your tips videos instantly changed my game and I actually started winning tournaments (MP40) instead of just barely breaking into the top 10. Thanks so much for those videos! Literal game-changers!
Tip #8: Enjoy the pressure. I really like that. For a while now I have been trying to intentionally add pressure to myself while out play casual rounds. I love getting into pressure situations on the course.
Really helpful and relatable tip video Trevor, you put an awesome twist on the cliché technique videos that are all over these days. Multiple tips you mentioned apply to my game currently; the channel gets better every week! Can't wait for next Monday
Some of those tips do really help my game. The fan grip one just makes me sad, because I know it's true and I feel the same way you did before you used it.
These are starting to be my favorite videos coming out of “foundation” love this more laid back style in addition to the regular content you help out out!
That aim small miss small one was why I sucked in the open fields, I wasn't aiming small like in the woods and I threw all over the place. When I aimed small in the wide open, my shots were more accurate.
Great tips Trevor! Simple, easy to apply & focus on to make good habits. Been playing almost 6 months now, I'm a finger on the rim for putts, going to make that change. Thanks.
Had never heard that putting tip before this video! Instant improvement for me practicing it today and playing a round with it (and my putting percentage was all ready pretty good). Thanks Trevor!!
Really appreciate how the tips were deliberately ordered to match the holes you were playing (especially the first 4 in particular) to give them context and make it that little bit more meaningful. Hand feel is a massive thing for me, completely agree with that, if I don't like the feel of a disc and I bought it online or got in a player pack it doesn't go in my bag. Love all the tips, lots I know about, but even just hearing them re-iterated or explained in a slightly different way is still a great reminder to get me thinking about some of those things again.
Great job ordering the tips to fit the holes as you played them for the most part. Could tell some planning when into that. For me, the picking an individual chain link when putting made my putting SO much better. It helped me not think about anything but throwing into my aiming point and nothing else. I also found that depending on distance I needed to pick a more right and high chain to account for hyzer and drop.
Been looking for tips on putting and never really thought my grip was the problem, until I tried the fan grip after watching your video! What a difference! Felt awkward for the first couple throws but I’ve seen extremely quick improvements in my game! Thanks Trevor!
Dude, great video. Really useful tips for all players. And great conversational presence on camera, very positive and easy to follow. Really appreciate it, Trevor. Look forward to more. Ben
Saw your video the previous night and used your putting grip technique and boy did it do wonders to my put. I used it for a 150ft shot and hit my second ace with it also! Love the video, thanks so much for the content!
Great putting tip!! 3 months back playing after 12 year hiatus...don't ask. Had always wrapped index finger on rim in past and continued so now. Implemented tip today with instant improvement in both feel and results.
Love the tip about feeling the disc before buying. The last disc I bought without feeling it was the thunderbird and while I liked its flight, I hated its rim, especially for forehands and now I just don't throw it. Every time I'm at a proper shop I looove to feel all the plastics and rims. That lat 64 royal grand plastic is AMAZING
I needed to hear this before last weekend. What you said makes total sense for why one of my buddies constantly had better upshot’s… his grip changes. I didn’t think about it but we have talked about it. Time to test some stuff
Love the tip about pressure! Will def be thinking about that for my next few tournaments! Also always wanted to try some Hooligan, especially the thread!
Thank you Trevor, I went and had a game after watching this video and I noticed when I moved my finger down from the rim, my putts was a hell of a lot straighter and more accurate. Cheers
I never realized I wrapped my pointer finger on the outside of the rim until this video. I tried the adjustment today at the course. It's different but it definitely helps a ton. Thanks so much for the pointers!
Learning to like the pressure reminds me of Alex Honnold, the climber. He's been asked about handling fear and his response was something like: the body reaction for fear and excitement is similar, so you can reframe it in your mind into excitement.
Great tips, Trevor. I''m enjoying the channel. (A shortcut for the first few tips is to play catch with a putter with a friend as part of your warm up. If you're newer to the game, play catch even more frequently. You'll figure out your thumb positioning, learn the fan grip, and will develop a touch forehand.)
Hey I’m the worst about putting my finger on the edge when I putt and also the forehand upshot helped me understand why my upshots have been not very good during my last 5 tournaments🔥 thank you Trevor I appreciate you doing this video🤘🏻🤘🏻
Ive either heard or figured out all tips but tip 7. Ive never heard anything close to tip 7, so thank you for sharing that one. I also love the explanations on all tips. You explained many of the tips in ways I havent heard. Sometimes hearing the same tip explained in different ways can help someone understand it.
My best tip right now, that seems to help me the most is happy thoughts. I credit Robbie C, "Man, it's gonna feel great when I sink this putt!", I applied this to drives too and it makes a difference.
Awesome video. The power grip one hits me hard but in a different way. I had this issue when I started. Then I decided to start only throwing mids and putters to get better and learn fan grip. Now I cant throw a power grip anymore nor a driver. Have to do something about that
Learning how to throw a forehand has been one of the biggest obstacles for me. I've gotten to the point where I can throw them but not reliably and I tend to be one of those that hides behind using the stability of discs still, but the tip about slowing the wrist down was paramount for me and I still have to remind myself from time to time to slow it down. Great video, Trevor and please count me in for the giveaway! Thanks!
These tips are pretty simple but honestly so helpful! Thanks for putting them all in one video, so when I come back I can get them all again when I forget in about 3 days 😂
As a player that has only been in the game for a couple of months, getting these tips early will help improve my game massively. Still trying to find my groove and preference on throws but getting there one day at a time.
Went out in the backyard to putt with the index finger out of the way tip. Fixed my most disastrous miss which was air-balling putts right. Dang it feels weird though. Thanks!
comment to tip nr 8, a club mate of mine from bowling told me to take those feelings of nervousness as anticipation instead, i have alot of butterflies in my stomach when competing and thinking of it as anticipation instead just makes it feel alot better! Im really happy when competing, unless i suck...or it rains ;)
Love the new channel. Excited to try out some of these tips to try to improve my game. I currently putt with my finger in the rim so I am going to try to move it off. I have tried before, but it felt weird and I didn’t stick to it. Also, definitely want to be in the giveaway. The discs look sick. Yeet and vibe a little too high speed, but the thread would be perfect.
Background on hole 2 was amazing. The color depth of the trees and clounds made me think you were in front of a green screen and had done adjustments to the photo/video of the hole. I'm enjoying your tips and I'm one who recently switched from my finger on the edge of the putter to having it under the rim. Tip 2: I've mainly a forehand player and really try to slow down my forehand upshots....but sometimes they just get away from me and it's because I didn't slow it down. Tip 3: Oh, this is a hard one and one I really have an issue with. I need to do a better job of picking a spot and not just 'throwing it in that direction'. Tip 4: Fanning my grip on upshots is one I'm working on. When i do it, I do it well....at least when I slow down my upshot (tip 2). I need to work on fan gripping backhand. I do a slight fan grip, but it's halfway between a fan and power grip. Tip 5: Discing up/understable discs. My issue is not being able to judge distances so I tend to not use enough disc at times. As for understable discs, that is what I mainly throw. Tip 6: Feel of the disc when you buy one. This is why I go to the local disc golf shop. I prefer to see how the disc feels for me. Once I know a disc feels good and I can throw it, then I might buy a replacement online, but my initial purchase of a disc is always at a shop. Tip 7: I can't throw overhand. It really never works out for me. Instead, I compromise....sometimes the best option is to go out sideways or even backwards a bit. As long as I can get into the clear. Tip 8: I always feel pressure during tournaments and leagues. I have fun playing, but I always feel pressured. I'm going to have to learn to accept the pressure and use it. Usually self-pressure makes me play faster than I should. I have 30 seconds per shot, but probably take less than 10 seconds. I need to learn to relax and take my time, especially when there is pressure. Tip 9: Stick to a form. I am mainly a forehand player and that is definitely my upshot throw. I am working on improving my backhands, but not for upshots. Tip 10: Timing. And the tip that I need to work on the most. I am trying to stick to the timing that works best for me, but I do tend to speed up my walk-up too often.
Great video, personally took alot away from this. Like most, my game is constantly going down and sometimes up (lol). Been playing for years and really want to be more consistent so I hope these tips will improve my knowledge for the game.
