I am really liking your channel. I like some of the foundation stuff, but I find that these casual throw and chats are really nice. It gives us an idea what a disc does and you are a great presenter.
Awesome video. A lot of thought and work went into this. You didn't get lazy like most youtubers by only 2 or 3 discs then gloss over things. You gave every disc a fair shake, even going so far as to re-throw obvious shanks. Worth watching all 40 minutes!
Really appreciate the Monday morning videos. I watch/listen videos and podcasts during my drives and lunch workout and needed something monday for lunch workout and you are filling that for me! Enjoy the content as always
I really like the idea of a series of videos focused on a specific bag slot and breaking down 1) the shots they are used for 2) what types of discs can fit it and 3) how different discs can slightly change the way you use that slot. Some options are control driver, overstable mid range, max distance driver, tunnel shot / gap hitters, utility disc, forehand disc, turnover disc.
@@chrism4008 Great podcast, but not quite the same format - I think there is room for more of a field test focused on the slot and the shot. In the Bag generally focuses more on the actual discs themselves, helping people build bags, etc.
I think this is your best video yet on this channel These are great comparisons and really do help to see differences, similarities, pros and cons I'm still basically a beginner and discovered early on that I get the most consistent throws with putters Please do more of these I'm using a Mercy here
Great vid Trev, I just added an envy to my bag still haven't used it much but excited more for it now, my putters right now are the luna and watt and just really love em right now.
Really enjoyed this video! I also love throwing putters. My favourites between the once I’ve tried is pure, soft logic and glow rainmaker. I would love for you to try more putters and then go forward with mids and then fairways. Really good videos, keep em coming!
I've bagged Simon's music city open Proxy since he won that tournament and I absolutely love it. It has a very true to the release angle flight for me when I throw it hard but if I put less power behind it, it has a consistent overstable finish. I used to throw Envy, but the Proxy took over that slot for me. Loved the putter comparisons and enjoy the new chill vibes of the channel so far!
The molds feel pretty similar in the hand. I used to throw the electron envys, but they beat in very quickly. Of course you can get higher quality plastics to prevent this from happening, but I presonally like the feel of the proxy in my hands more than envys. I'd say the envy feels slightly more deep in my hands than the proxy which is why I prefer the proxy myself. You really can't go wrong with either of them tbh, so I'd say give them both a feel test in the hand before buying one or the other because the feel is really what matters the most imo. @@sindrearnasjdahl9760
Subbed by far, thank you, only took 2 vids to figure out you really just love this game so freaking much, I hope you're able to make a living of this man, I aim to do so in some way as well!!!
Very big fan of this video. Informative, but also just fun Trevor vibes while he plays. Also: I use Praxis and PA5 and A5 for my throwing putters. ESP Zone if I need more bite and a little more distance.
Great info...particularly the discussion of going left with under stable discs and right with avertable ones...a concept a lot of newer folks don't understand. I know you were setting a realistic limit on how many you could test, but two other common throwing putters worth mentioning: The Rhyno and the Pure. My personal favorite throwing putter right now is pretty new, and not well known yet, but I really like it: the MVP Watt. It's like the midpoint between the Envy and the Glitch, a bit overstable and quite glidey.
Hey Trevor great video once again! Just wouldve liked to see you throw my throwing putters of Rhyno and Pure, but loved the content nonetheless. Keep it up! RIP Star Aviar
Perfect timing on this! I just aced our feature hole at my local tournament this weekend with the Envy and I’ve been swearing by it for so long! Really enjoyed the video!
After buying a couple Westside Shields to try for putting, I ended up sticking with Wardens for putting and the Shields have become an amazing upshot and off the tee disc. They seem like they're just a touch more stable than your Roach. I also have an Envy which I can rip on a lot more when needed.
Berg is also really good for forehand approaches, while other slower putters can be quite finicky. The bulky rim makes it quite torque-resistent and wont turn over unless you completely hammer it. It does need some practice to get used to the grip though.
Threw the Berg until 2 months ago when i switched to Logic , and the reason are very similiar to how you described the Berg in the review👍👍 great stuff
I just found this channel. Great video for starters. The Berg is a disc that you prob not going to be able to over-torque. Don't be afraid to tear into it. That Cash disc I'll be checking out soon. Thanks for the vid.
Thanks for the content, was hoping to hear your opinion on the judge and that was very well said. I putt with a classic blend and love throwing them too. You're one of few people I see throwing them and as much as I love the pros the cons you brought up are accurate. My thought is you have to focus on the follow through to be sure on the line. If you can throw a judge you can throw anything
Loved the video! Would've loved to have seen what you thought about a logic. Some say they are a great throwing putter and I'm really curious to see and honest video review of them before I try it
This is a great episode. I only use putters and mids most of the time. Drivers just cause problems. Always interested in putter content. Upshot’s and scrambles are where I live.
Yo Trev, like what you've been doing with the channel. I think you are on to a good start! I have been trying to get Foundations take on some Yikun discs that I have really been loving but maybe itll be better on your channel. I'd suggest the Yikun GUI (Dragon plastic) and the Ling. The GUI is your typical driving putter that looks and feels great but the Ling is an awesome flippy putter that can get easy hyzer flip/turnover shots or some cool rollers. I love the creative lines I can make with both of these discs. Try em out, one might make your bag.
Great vidja! Funny as I tagged Foundation, Hunter and you on Twitter asking what putters y'all used but for putting. I've been using the Judge as my go to putter. I think I want to try the atom and roach or luna before I settle on a putter for a season.
Absolutely love my sky god 4 p2. I’ve been having more and more throw ins from 100~ lately with that disc specifically cuz like you said, it’s just soo predictable and such a beautiful flight
Thanks for not overwhelming us with too much info. So will the next video cover which putter is best for interpretive dance? Not sure what I want in that slot yet. Thanks Trevor!!!
Going to give a star aviar a shot at the bag now.... Been using a opto pure forever now but want to try the aviar after this. Used to putt with 8 time aviars so should be pretty familiar... Love these laid back videos.
The Matty O maiden in tournament x plastic is the best throwing putter out right now. Especially if you have smaller hands. I feels super shallow in hand 🖐️
I love Maidens too but tournament plastic just slips out of my hand too often. I tried an experiment over a summer of field work and rounds with Maidens in Origio, BT Medium, BT Hard, Tournament and VIP and found that I consistently got the best distance and accuracy with BT Medium. This was a surprise - I expected the VIP or Tournament to have better distance but the BT Medium and even BT Hard were nearly always farther. I think it comes down to my grip. That's my hypothesis anyway.
Really liked this video and your commentary. Would love to see the same style video with mid ranges. Some discs you enjoy and some you don’t know too much about. Subscribed!
awesome video (so far... have watched half!). Interesting. I have a Berg on order, can't wait to throw it. Fun note, I went to North Carolina Wesleyan and we played Randolph in baseball and basketball every year.
Reko has been my jam for throwing putters. I've flipped back and forth between throwing Reko and Envy, and always have a k1 soft Berg close by for when I need a disc to 'plop' down.
My Rekos go where my Bergs can't reach. They glide considerably farther but my Berg is way more accurate and safe from overthrowing. Both live in my bag.
The envy for me has been so money. For backhand tee shots, forehand and backhand approach shots, and simple putting, it’s my favourite approach disc in my bag
Love the videos Trevor. Also, I had the pleasure of playing against Randolph on that soccer field twice. One win one loss, but it’s definitely a unique experience. Feels like you’re playing in a prison match
Cool lab! All you need is space and plastic after all :D And some clothes... all those t-shirts you use are nice touch, almost never reprising clothes on video! :P Good video, loving it, would have liked some understable ones in another video ;)
Loving your hat bro!! Sadly the day after the dolphins smacked us in the face isn’t the best timing to wear it… hahaha still great content! #LETSRIDE! 🤣
The Cash is pretty dang sweet. I went with the Lasso instead tho. Super similar molds. Good stuff 👍 Hey are you power gripping these putters? I tried doing that but I get so much more control with the fan grip
Really amazing video!!!! I throw 90% mvp/axiom and the envy is a very reliable disc. I have 3 of these things in my bag. The clear ones tend to be more overstable and I also have a fission which is understable and both make really good approach putters. I also drive with 1 for Short holes but I don't putt with them. I have a buddy that uses them for putting so these things are versatile for sure!!! 🎉
Would love to see your take on discs for forehand approach shots. Learning the berg took a while, but now it’s is in my bag almost explicitly for straight forehand approaches within 200’. Curious if it might work similarly for you.
I really hope you get the opportunity to test the Sea Otter from Wilddiscs! I think you really will love it 😉 The lava and nuclear plastic are amazing!
Love my Judge and I can throw it around 250ft. Helped me improve my form as a beginner. Unfortunately it suffered the same fate as your Aviar but I also forgot to pick it up.
Fortunately just found your channel right as you are getting started. I am brand new to disc golf. Love the form you use to throw these putters. I have told myself that if I can't throw a putter the way I want to, why would I be able to throw a distance driver any better? I am working with an Aviar and soon an Invader. Other than midrange that is all I am going to use to try to get to the basket and work on my form and distance, hopefully manipulating the throw will come in between that. You were driving standing still though, which I don't do, but maybe I will try to make things more simple. Would love to see this video done for other putters or even midrange and fairway drivers. I subbed to catch the next one
My throwing putters are Envy, Praxis, Spin (overstable, stable, understable). If i need something even more overstable than the envy i used to reach for a Star Aviar X3, but im currently trying out an Axiom Temple and Lone Star Artemis and loving both of those instead.
Really liking your channel. Thank you for starting this up. I threw a Bro D Roach for a while and liked it, but I've switched to a Cosmic Neutron Pilot. One big problem I'm having is trying to figure out what putter to put with. Any suggestions on how to choose?
