🤬Sony blocked this video and the audio of the song was removed. This is so annoying because there are lots of channels that have this same video but ours was singled out.
Alexis really liked this song and points out that it could be a hit today with no changes to the recording. Torn by Natalie Imbruglia is a great song and Burch explains why he just loves the way Scott Cutler and Anne Preven constructed the story from such a unique perspective. ‪@NatalieImbrugliaOfficial‬

It was woven into the fabric of the 90s, in the US. I might not register if it played on a radio here, due to semantic satiation. But the fact is, GenZ people haven't heard or seen many classics because their environment is glutted with more media than one could consume in a thousand lifetimes.

Natalie won a Billboard Music Award for this song and it was nominated for a Grammy as well. The 90's was probably the most talent rich decade for female vocalist since the 1970's. There were a couple of times in this video where Natalie looked a little bit like Sharon Osborne, maybe because if the hair. 🤔😁 Great song, great reaction. 🙌✌️

Natalie was very camera shy so the video director told her to perform in front of the cameras as if they were rolling. Little did she know that she was being filmed and you can see that at the end of the video when she looked at the teleprompter. She was caught completely unaware. That is why this video is so good.

I can't speak for American Radio, but among the alternative/easy rock radio stations in Canada, this song was everywhere, and has since been everywhere till even now. It's just one of those timeless easy-listening songs from the 90s that please every pair of ears from 8 to 80 years old. Loving your taste in music Burch! I also wish I had a friend with a fresh pair of ears so receptive like Alexis that I could toss music to and get positive reactions from, haha. I enjoy both of your personalities, and can't wait to see more from this new subscription :) If I may throw another 90s era powerhouse into the suggestion box, I would love to hear y'alls thoughts on Sonic Youth! There's so many weird tracks from them, great music videos, and they have always stayed fringe despite feeling like they pioneered a form of punk style all their own for so long

@@turasque Ednaswap wrote the song, but they let Lis Sørensen record it and she released it first (with Danish lyrics). Ednaswap didn't release their own version until a couple of years later. Soon after a Norwegian singer also released her version, so Natalie Imbruglia's version is actually the fourth take on this song.

This song and video always kicks off a massive 90's nostalgia binge for me. And of course Natalie was one of the prototypes of the pixie cut 90s pop pixies. It was hard not to crush on her. Wow, this is so long ago now! Natalie Imbruglia did a few really excellent albums, all of them pretty much ignored after this one, which is a tragedy because they were awesome and her voice is excellent. Try “On the Run” which is so packed with emotion it rivals a Band-Maid live track! Who are Band-Maid? Well, rock and metal didn’t die, it just had a sex change and moved to Japan. Their last upload is “Endless Story” from a concert they did at Yokohama Arena - it’s a good starting point into an entirely new world of excellent music.

This was an all-too-brief little genre that began around 1995 with Alanis Morrissette and ended with this song about five years later: Female singers with a ‘70s-style singer-songwriter vibe. Others include Jewel, Natalie Merchant, Joan Osborne, Tracy Chapman, and Lisa Loeb. Relatively stripped-down sounds, sometimes just a guitar. Back to basics.
@James-wj8eq
@James-wj8eq 6 месяцев назад
All too brief? It was long enough for most...and Natalie Merchant ( 10,000 Maniacs) was already going ten years strong and Tracy Chapman started her career in the latter half of the eighties so they're not really a part of the troupe.

I put the tinfoil hat on and say, soft voice, and 12345 1234 quick up down strumming, or similar(Am I Standing Still Jewel.) With the twang of the acoustic rolled off not fully, but smoother in the EQ some. Like anything I said just made sense to most 🙃, but yea. Plus just good songs

But I will not subscribe. It all takes me back to a time and which I had hope and possibilities; looking forward to life. It brings up too much pain. I know how far I have fallen with no family to reach for. These videos serve as a stark reminder of how I've wasted and squandered this life. I carry enough pain and regret. Sadly, the light of such times when this music played just shows how dark this pit of a hollowed heart really is.
