The Iconic need for Speed most wanted BMW M3 GTR dramatic rise to top in 2001 American le man made Porsche 😡💢 Full history of Bmw M3 GTR #bmwm3gtr #porsche #bmw #nfs #nfsmw #shorts
I left a comment already but the number made was 10. It's literally what the rule was. The car still had to be retired because porsche cried enough to get the rules changed to 100 production models. Why you would say 6 is beyond dumb.
to put into reference how good the V8 M3 GTR was, it was setting lap times closer to the Corvettes in the GTS category above it than the Porsches in the GT category.
Actually M3 GTR was built to have P60B40 4.0L 32-Valve DOHC Valvetronic V8 and in LM version it had 550hp, but in road legal it was detuned to 450HP, rumors say they produced 15 road legal cars (but we know about existence of 1 Road Legal and 1 ALMS Variant both sitting in museum, and 2nd exemplaries of said cars are sitting inside secret garage right next to M3 E46 Touring, The "Goldfisch" and M8 E31). Guys from Porsche were such crybabies they instantly ran to FIA to tell them that there were 15 M3 GTR Road Legal exemplaries instead instead of 50 written in rules, then FIA banned M3 GTR
@@DaACTUALLYREALReddie Eyup, even their Z4 sports car is now a damn grand tourer.... And funnily enough, Toyota fixed that with the Supra, which sits on a Z4 chassis.
I hope everyone knows that this iconic scene was actually an homage to the movie Léon from Luc Besson. The actor Gary Oldman did an insane job and thus the infamous "EVERYONE!" was born.
Hahahah right, as a bmw enthusiasts, I can say porsche will always be the top German brand. But now with bmw inline 6 engines, we are also spanking everyone else so HARD, BIG SPANK😂. Porsche too, just too good in Gemrnay, oh and don't get me started on the RS3 (DAZA)
We haven't really had anyone wanting to do anything but go in straight lines quickly, or go in circles fast, since Carroll Shelby. That man put such a spanking on everyone that it permanently changed racing. This BMW M3 GTR is a good example of that.
I think he didn't explain it clearly. The rule at that time is there must be a road homoligation model of the race car, why is why there is the Porsche 911 GT3 RS
- Build an illegal car that's not in production - proceeds to build a road version of the "illegal" car to avoid disqualification BMW pulled one of the greatest Sigma move in motorsports history.
And simultaneously created one of the rarest unicorn cars ever. Every E46 owner wants that V8 engine, BMW refuses to make any more than the 6 that are in those M3 GTRs. We haven’t seen the insane GTR treatment to any BMW since….
Porsche was whining about it. Like they do every time they start losing. Bmw met the rules and their car was legal, and Porsche wasn’t happy. And then magically a couple years later the rules changed so that they had to make more street legal versions of the cars than bmw could afford to make. I think Porsche probably had an hand in that.
This was their one and only instance of whining, BMW put an engine in the race car before the road car was made, which is the opposite of what Porsche did
@@MiguelGarcia-vj7ooMore like they purposely use a loophole on the rulebook and succeed (with varying result). The dauer 962 went very great, the 97 GT1 wasn't much great on le mans, and the 98 GT1 did great just because mercedes didn't build a car that can last 24 hour. The 959 could have been the one but group B ended too soon
well of course if your competition was not following the rules properly and winning because of it you'd start whining. not that it matters now. porsche is still the king.
ah yes 2000's porsche, the only car conpany that has matched ferrari's pettyness i mean not a gtr fanboy but remember the hotlap tire debaucle in the nurburgring?
Porsche is a bit of a different league past the centrally placed engine, but compared to competitors Audi, Mercedes or Lexus, BMW has been making better sports cars for 40 years.
I hate to say it but this was probably the only time BMW beat porsche... with E46 GTR obviously, a car I'd pay millions to have. Oh well at least Germans are the kings of motorsports😏💪🏼☝🏽🇩🇪
misinformation, this was illegal. the car should have at least produced 10 road legal cars, which they did not. and the engine was illegal because the actual m3 had a i6 instead of a v8. the rules were changed and bmw never ever have won again lmao
Fun fact: you couldnt tune cars for lemans, so BMW actually used a loophole and created a "new" car that was built for racing (the M3 GTR), and they sold a few non race models.
There was an endurance racing event in the United States. It was called the American Le Mans Series. It's called that, because it's an endurance event, much like the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
