Yup, when I’m playing support as soon as I see an enemy widow I switch to kiriko. Even if I may not kill her I still add a lot of pressure if I get a headshot in and she has to go and get healing and move around constantly so she doesn’t get value.

she just doesn't understand when you can close out a win condition, she doesn't see the opportunity at all and thinks only big plays with "big value" can do the job. In reality nanoing someone to finish off a single enemy early in a fight might not look like big value, but that means the rest of the fight is 5v4 and you just grow an exponential resource value through the whole fight and you also stagger the enemy. Early nanos also force a response before the enemy is ready to commit to responding -which adds further likelihood for them to misplay their chances.

I'm also Gold, I've been playing a lot of Hanzo recently and making Sombras swap to another hero, lol. It's been pretty fun. I just try to stay close to my supports and when Sombra hacks me or my support, I try to maintain myself completely cold-blooded to hit that sweet headshot. Most people in our lower ranks panic when they get hacked, and that might be the main reason why Sombra kills them, because when panic sets in, you just shoot everywhere instead of aiming effectively at Sombra. Even if I only hit one or two body shots, the Sombra usually teleports away and that's when I use my Sonic Arrow in the location where she teleported to track her. That's when Sombra is at her most vulnerable state - she thinks she escaped to safe invisibility with low health, but now me and my whole team can see her, and go after her to finish her. If a Sombra is getting too much value, I save almost all of my Sonic Arrows to do exactly that - to track her down every time she TPs away or if I can hear her sounds nearby (but shooting the Sonic Arrow BEFORE she engages is riskier, because sometimes it will go to waste, and then she engages and can escape back before my cooldown resets and then I cannot track her down when she has lower health). It's even better when, after all of this, the Sombra swaps to Pharah or Echo thinking they are countering me, and I still kill them mid-air with Hanzo. I would only swap off Hanzo if they're being pocketed by a Mercy, but I really don't care if there's a Pharah or Echo. Weirdly enough, I'm actually finding easier to hit flying targets in lower ranks because they expose themselves way more. I am aware that it wouldn't be that easy in higher ranks, and sometimes even in our lower ranks there's a great Pharah or Echo that I cannot hit, but, then again, that could happen with any hero. If a player is very skilled and has great game sense, they will use a lot of cover and make me swap off Hanzo simply because I'm having trouble to even see them in my sight lines long enough. But yeah, Hanzo is freaking great against Sombra. If you can't aim with Hanzo, then any hero that you don't depend on your abilities to kill people will be good, because when she hacks you, you can still just use your main weapon against her. It's especially effective if your main weapon does BURST damage, because Sombra will usually shoot first, so she's gonna have an advantage on you, and for you to race against her weapon + Hack + Virus, your main weapon doing burst damage can put you in a later advantage. Mei, Junkrat, Reaper, Cassidy, Ashe, Torbjörn, Venture, Brigitte, Kiriko, Illari... Those are usually great anti-dive heroes in general. The three main general tips against Sombra would be: 1. maintain your coolness if you get hacked and she starts shooting; 2. keep yourself close to your teammates, so you can protect each other when she engages; 3. keep yourself close to corners, so you can cover yourself when she attacks you. Sombra thrives when she sees players doing the opposite of these 3 rules: someone alone in the middle of the map who gets panicked when she hacks them or starts shooting. Btw, I have played a fair amount of Sombra too, so I also know exactly what's annoying for a Sombra, and the number one thing is an enemy team who's tightly close together all the time. It's hard to get value as Sombra (or any other diving hero, like Tracer, Genji, Venture, or Doomfist) when it's against a team like that.

dva, ball and winston are all great tank picks against a widow, depending on the rest of the enemy team comp. all of them are dependent on knowing when to back out tho, bc dying for a widow kill is never a good trade 😅

A tank shouldn't even have to dive widow when your DPS can jus go Sombra and force them to switch

@@wswann34 true, but I’m not in t500 or even Masters; from my experience going from bronze up to plat it falls on the tank to dive Widow because the DPS either can’t aim or put themselves in a bad position or just pick a character that Widow can farm

@@Battleress2 yeah it’s 50/50; either I can kill the Widow or I just intimidate her by charging her and lowering her health significantly

Also, they DID have a reaper, and I can guarantee that ana deserves to be in gold seeing as how they were healbotting the ENTIRE game, probably had around 2 or 3k damage by the end of the 32 minutes which is atrocious, found it funny how they were like "what could I have done to win this" when all they did was rely on their team. (btw this is for the vid too so please don't be too offended, I just saw your comment and thought it was a good place to put my thoughts on this player and match)

Its because even with the nerf hanzo has more burst damage then her, more health, a bigger projectile size, more available mobility and a mini widows ult as an ability. Widow is super counterable and a lot of people who complain about her either are having really unlucky games or not dont know how to play against her.

the whole point of widow IS the one-shot. if you remove that, you destroy her entire kit and identity. your comment just shows how little you know about how to play against snipers.

@@kill3rw0lf39 Hanzo sonic arrow is not a “mini widow ult.” It’s centralized to one specific location, has an indicator and sound queue. Widow has 15 second wall hacks for the entire team. They’re not even remotely similar. Hanzo has a lower crit rate than widow by a substantial margin, yet he gets gutted and widow doesn’t. Also, hanzo’s mobility is nowhere near as good as widow’s.

my favorite thing to do as Mercy is let the shot wizz past me and then shoulder peek right after as the widow is charging another shot to bait them into trying to get me again. outside of valk, Mercy can't directly do much about Widow, so being able to distract them and get them to shoot at me - while guaranteeing my safety because I only peek when I know for sure they're charging up, since a half charged shot won't one tap me - instead of shooting someone else on my team is a way I like to contribute value
