Camping just isn’t what it used to be. The RV Odd Couple were kicked out of the RV Park that was holding their RV Odd Squad Rally!
As big corporations buy out RV Parks, the RVer gets hosed! Customer service declines, such as what happened with Thousand Trails disrespecting first responders. Talk about a Thousand Trails nightmare! All the while, the RV industry continues to get consolidated while the small mom and pops get bought out.
Now, the RV Odd Couple are tasked with trying to join forces with fellow RVers to offset the titans and figure out an alternative location for their event in October. Lucky for them they know someone buying a campground!

Have You ever considered, timeshare as a form of ownership of a campground for the RV Odd Squad. It has had a bad reputation in the past, but setup correctly to benefit the buyer as opposed to the developer, it can offer some unique advantages to the members.

There's a few mixed use properties in my area. Hubert NC, Swansboro, Hampstead. It's undeveloped. It's near Emerald Isle and crystal coast beaches. It's definitely a great investment.

I feel like there is some of the same shadiness in repair shops, just maximize profits. I am a Certified RV Tech and RV solar installer and I see so much shady repair work and installs done by unqualified people that someone is gonna get hurt or even worse killed, I'm sure it's already happened....I definitely want to be a part of your community, thanks for all you do....

@@dangeroustoman yea you can definitely use a oversized charge controller, if it's way oversized u might loose a little efficiency but won't hurt anything...just don't ever go over the volts rating for the controller and u will be good....

We spend as much time traveling for solar installs as being stationary. Well not all corporate is bad. I think we forget it has brought us a lot. They have provided a lot of services we would not have had without innovations sponsored by corporations. Corporations provide jobs, insurance, pensions, and new business as they branch out. They provide huge donations to many causes and supply many good scholarships. People who are unbelievably rich from starting, struggling, and sacrificing much, are donating more than any one group or even the government to great causes. They are not all about evil, they are about supply and demand. Just try living without them. Just try doing what you are. It is not easy, cheap, or problem free. You have great exciting ideas, just not terribly mature. You may be trying to save your skin one day, too. And then, a short leap into, "whatever it takes," or "let's get out of here quick!" I do pray you succeed, of course, but slow down a little and think things through. Get sound legal advice even if you do not like it. Life is not easy and not fair, it is just life. Sometimes people make mistakes or things happen no one counted on. It is not a plot to get anyone. I personally have only known a handful of crazies like that. Vindictiveness is not of the Lord. And taking matters into your own hands to try to right a wrong, with great emotion will bite you, i know! Boy do i! Keep trying, love your energy.

Please don't take my comment out of context: many of us have taken the opportunity to overnight in a WALMART parking lot for various reasons. The same for Cracker Barrel or Cabela's. There are smaller non-corporate businesses that provide the same or similar services that struggle to keep their doors open, but yet we shop elsewhere. Lowes and Home Depot have forced how many mom & pop hardware stores, cabinet shops, appliance stores, and nurseries out of business? How many of us have Amazon Prime memberships? When corporations see an opportunity for growth/expansion it doesn't necessarily mean it's driven by greed. Consumer spending habits and trends more often drive those decisions. What can we do? We must be willing to pay a little more for goods and services from locally owned and operated businesses. In general, many of us have grown impatient and want to take advantage of one-stop-shopping locations... I won't name them. Instead of blaming corporations for providing opportunities to spend our money the way we want, let's commit to supporting businesses like our parents/grandparents did. Be the change you want to see. Meanwhile: don't complain about the folks who are feeding the frenzy we ourselves have created.

I see it everywhere. Car rental companies- Dollar and Budget merged. News and enrtainment-Disney is buying everything. It's all becoming one giant Megacorp. And they have so much money and power they can buy all the laws and exemptions to laws they want. Look at Facebook. Should any company have the power to censor a sitting President?

@@chriswhite2151 this is a difficult question for me to answer because I'm torn. I despise censorship. But I also recognize that a business has the right to establish rules for participation and that for those part, that they as owners get to determine the behavior that they will or will not allow. It's similar to me being able to carry a concealed weapon in the state I live. I have a license to do so. But business owners have the right to deny me access to their property if I'm carrying. I don't like censorship. There is alot of speech and music I find highly offensive. But if was my speech protected in a public space, then I need to support their right to theirs as well. Our "rights" to free speech are modified when we enter space owned and operated by a privately owned entity.

If all else fails, find a place where everyone can booockdock. Just find some volunteers to form a security patrol. The only way these corporations learn. Is never do business with them again. And make sure you tell them why. One of the main problems in this Country, is dishonesty. It seems to have become acceptable by so many. God Bless you, in all your endeavors.

I’m telling you, in 2020 FUN was officially canceled. First the frequent hand sanitizing, then the 6 feet thing, then masks, then businesses and schools closing, and it was for “2 weeks” to “flatten the curve.” Look at us now. Few are working, most are being bribed by government to stay home and collect a check (a BIG check), and now a door to door jab campaign? Huge corporations are buying every piece of real estate possible, even stuff not on the market! The plan is just as Klaus Schwab promised: “You will own nothing and you will be happy.” They want to make everyone beholden to them. All renters. So obviously, when people turned to RVs for alternative fun (which they canceled remember), they figured out a way to stop even alternative fun. I venture to guess that these “bought up” RV parks will be closed and maybe turned into apartment sites. Look into Blackstone and BlackRock. They own it all, banks, Federal Reserve, real estate, the media. Watch what happens.

My friend lost his father and sister outside of Buffalo NY. 600,000 American's have died or maybe you don't believe that either Michelle. Agree with you about corporate greed but please don't give up on the rest of us. Covid is very real. No one is out to get us Renters, RVers etc. If you don't want to use corporate own campgrounds don't use them. No corporation or the federal reserve is out to get you or me., No one is making us doing anything we don't want too. You and I are free to choose. Don't be bitter because you weren't lucky enough to be born rich, smart enough or criminal enough to get rich like Trump family and many others. There is 99% of us that weren't either. Peace .

Love you guys. As soon as we get Burts CT scan for mesothelioma in September, we will know more about what we r doing. Medicare will not pay for his scan until September. So we need prayers that the delay will not cause a worse result. He's 74. I do love you guys . Your way of life , your beliefs etc. Would love to be in on this in one way or another. 🙂

If a flag is manufactured as _______flag , than it is not a US flag nor is it desecrated. If you take a flag manufactured as a true flag and THEN you alter it…now you have desecrated it. If it does not meet the actual US Code for the definition of a flag, than it becomes a banner at best. Disney world does exactly this. They fly what looks like a true flag but they are not, they are a banner.

Thousand trails has really gone down hill over the last year...WAY over priced now and their campgrounds have gone to hell. Rv'ers DONT need any more nation wide, greedy, money hungry, corporate run slums to camp in. Also, I own an RV lot in Texas that is a retirement community for people to spend the winter. I've been getting calls form real estate "investors" that will pay me 10% over market value. NO WAY I am selling...it's worth more to me than money.

We had a home inspection for a home we were in the process of buying. My husband headed in and I asked God to look over our inspection and to shows us everything we needed to know. The house is a 121yr old log cabin! It’s been well cared for, well preserved, well updated! So our last look see was the guest bathroom upstairs. We noticed an attic access panel. My hubby pushed it up and I say mouse droppings so I told him. Our inspector looked at my husband and said “want to take a quick look in the attack?” My husband said “sure, why not!” I headed outside took tons of pics sent them to my family! I was so excited! The inspection had come out clean! We had a few minor issues nothing to worry about though! So my hubby came out and just shook his head, NO! The inspector looked confused and REALLY, REALLY, WORRIED! I knew something bad had happened. So apparently there had been a fire and ALL the ceiling joists were burned straight through. They added “support boards” to the outside of those burned joists, all the strappings had been burned and were no longer holding and spacing at all the joists. Lasted there were TWO FEET high piles of BAT poop, and piles and piles and piles of rat droppings. So I asked God to show me what I needed to know, he showed me, FIRE, BATS, and RATS! MESSAGE RECEIVED! Sometime God gives us what we need, not what we want. So perhaps, God has protected you and the squad from a catastrophe. Everything happens for a reason! God Bless you guys!

@@DocBree13 You can bet attorneys general and consumer affairs and others are getting heads up. It is not a charity. Eventually, right or wrong, they will need an attorney and that takes big money. I would like some financial disclosure on how much they take in and how much is going out and for what. I used to have friends like that, always coming up with some new scheme to fight the bad guys and accepting money, selling "product", roping in even their own son, taking all his savings to invest in their newest venture. I know one scam venture was shut down and people charged, but I lost track of them on purpose. Not their fault...the lousy government protecting consumers were destroying their freedom.

Love the idea but disagree with your vision. Allowing a group of people to make decisions will cause chaos and have a "funneling" affect that will limit your memberships. You will become what you despise the most. Make this YOUR park......YOUR vision and have people join YOUR cause but allowing "board members=$$$$$" to make decisions? I think you're setting yourselves up for misery. Unless I misunderstood you, that's what I see happening.

Y'all need to set the rules and theose who join sign off agreeing to live by the creed. Judges 24:25 says, "In those days there was no king in Israel, and everyone did whatever he wanted. " People need to pay dues. Freeloaders tend to beg for more. Invite people into your vision and keep the dream alive.

Hope you have a great attorney. Even big outfits have run into bigggg snags. Someone started them with a dream, too. Even TT came close to biffing. I remember big angry meetings and we just walked away figuring they would go belly up and we would lose. And all the hundreds of acres for expanding...wow...it is either parking lots or unused. We were surprised they worked it out, MANY years ago. We split and he kept the TT . It is a constant headache to stay in business, i am sure. It certainly was not what we signed up for.

It is a contradiction especially since the Bible tells us that it is God who creates the borders of the nations and establishes the people to inhabit those places. The Bible states the earth is the Lords and everyday created in it is his. Maybe your idea of being a patriot is different from mine. I can be a productive citizen in the land that God placed me in to dwell and not worship the land. What is strange about the concept of patriotism in this country is that our ancestors are not from this land. As a Christian, you are brethren to all believers in Christ and that is Global. Now the concept of protecting your home I understand. We put locks on the doors for a reason but the adoration and loyalty only goes to God and not God and Country. For reference please read Hebrew chapter 11.

Having long term or permanent residents is a recipe for disaster. Every park that has homesteaders devolves into a segment of "above the rules" crowd, diminished quality, whiners, expected privileges, etc. Enforcement becomes more involved, laborius, and possibly litigus.

Looks like to get others to finance their rv park, they have to sell time shares or full time parking spots. But membership participation will tell them what the price point is and what level of services they need to provide. At $1000, they need about 1000 people to crowdsource the purchase of the RV park and renovations. Less 30 percent taxes. They would be stupid to use their own money. They also mentioned that they don't want too many cooks in the kitchen for this deal, not sure how they would treat their high rolling "director" class. But you gotta appreciate the hustle

But I believe that John and Mercedes will in the future have sites that can be used by others, not just by those that give them monetary support. They just seem to be an extremely compassionate and caring couple who have nothing but the best intentions for their fellow odd squad family. Those of us who can’t offer the ‘big bucks’ in support can give them our heart and prayers in support of their mission which goes a long way in karma and the grand scheme of things. JazzFest generally coincide with MerleFest. That was last 4 days in April. Occasionally the last day, Sunday was on May the First. Now, JazzFest is charged to October 2021 due to the pandemic. Many music festivals dates have been changed.

Once mom and pop RV camper sale places were bought by the Corporate RV camper seller, those RV sales sites went downhill. Since RVing has went gangbuster now the Corporate world sees RV Campgrounds as the next thing to Corporatize. Thus, all the more important that John and Mercedes are successful for their non-Corporate run campground

I was a seasonal renter at a camp ground in the Adirondack mountains for bout 4 years. The campground was a family owned and run business for years. When the owner was older and family had gone their own way he decided to make it a co-op and offered shares to the seasonal campers first at a discount rate. I bought my shares and had my site for 14 years. The members had and elected a board of directors. There was a yearly community meeting and things were discussed about direction of the camp ground and you voted your shares for change or against. It worked out very well. I eventually sold my shares and moved on to my own cabin with 10 acres nearby. Camp ground is still operating and thriving 25 years after I sold.

As a long time RV park owners, we wish you the best. One thing we have done to our park is to emphasize park in RV park not a parking lot, Keep your park clean and green. Our park we consider an extention of our home yard that adjoins the park. One thing that is difficult however is keeping your park attractive to customers on entering the park. Your daily customers are your top money earners and we have found that having too many monthly or permanent units tend to gather junk under and around their units. A real turnoff to travelers.

Remember who was carrying the Blue Lives Matter flags on Jan. 6. Not everyone carrying a particular flag is your friend. It certainly seems that the people so concerned about the protest at the capitol have no problems with the exponential level of violence, destruction, loss of homes & businesses, injuries and deaths (especially of first responders) in places like Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis, Kenosha and even previously in Washington DC. This leaves out places like Chicago & Baltimore where this violence is the norm rather than an isolated event. First responders do what they do, putting their own lives at risk to help others and I will celebrate them for that. Respectfully, there is not one group that doesn't have a few bad apples, but they are not representative of the whole.

I ran into the same thing. I had reservations at Ghivens Ferry State Park(mistakenly originally posted as James County Park where I moved my reservations to afterwards) outside of Charleston SC for 8 days in October, paid and everything, then I get a call that they are canceling my reservations because they have a Blues Festival coming in that week & weekend so they want my site for their visitors. Sad things happening in the world now.

Something similar happened to me too in Ray Roberts State Park in TX. Funny thing...I dont even have an RV, I was tent camping. They said that somehow they did not know that a fishing tournament was coming in on the days I was to camp. What?? How does a park not know a fishing tournament is happening. They were very polite and said that it would be VERY LOUD at my site as it was near the dock and that the media would be everywhere. They said that every morning the National Anthem would be played loud at 4 AM. I think they wanted my spot because it was so close to the dock...maybe Im wrong but I had to wonder. I had another State Park cancellation too. Said the park was flooded. Funny thing another RU-vidr posted a video of that park only a few days after they claimed that the park was flooded. I could see clearly that the park was not flooded.

Ive been to camp grounds where you have to walk side ways between the slides to get away from your camp site. They cared about how many they could pack into their park more than they cared about the comfort of the guests. It breaks down to the greed and the all mighty dollar. My husband and I have been camping for 45 years, my husband and his family ran a campground for a few years when he was a teenage. We said since we got married when we retire we are going to travel and live in a camper. Friends and family thought we were nuts! Now everyone is doing it and you are right it’s not the same and not what camping is about. But we have sold everything and going for it, in spite of how dysfunctional it is out there! Guys I am not spamming and delete this comment if you feel that I am. It is a blessing for me to see this video pop up in my feed at this time. My wife and I were just KICKED OUT of a KOA in Holden/Bangor Maine. We are a small channel and I was debating whether or not to do a Kicked Out video and have decided I will be doing the video. Ironic thing is, we were kicked out because of a product we bought based on your recommendation. The Power Watchdog Surge Protector. Our kept doing it's job and stopping the power coming to the trailer because of a LOW VOLTAGE issue. When I went to the KOA Park Owner to discuss the matter he blew up and started yelling at me and kicked us out of his park. He refused to even talk to me or look at the screen shots I had from the Watchdog app showing the voltage at 105 volts. Thank you for the inspiration to move forward, and the opportunity to expand our involvement with the Odd Squad.

They clearly explained what the letter said, and it clarified their original event date would not be honored in order to maximize profits for shareholders. If you feel compelled to be Karen, just remember, you have the gall to speculate that my comment may be out of place. Shouldn't YOU have verified the full story before chastising me? If my comments are justified based on their story being factual, then YOU are out of place for assuming ANYTHING!

I'm in! I don't have the money to become a Founder or Board member quite yet, but as soon as I'm able, I'm in. In the meantime, you have my unwavering support. I was an independent distributor for over 25 years then I experienced two separate ownership changes and in both situations the new management didn't care about me or my other associates. Everything for us was made more difficult (mostly to save them money) and little by little management got rid of the old people and promoted from within. No gratitude at all and if anything I felt more like an obligation. Best of luck guys.

I was afraid of this with you guys! Putting a price on membership is just the same as those that you complain about. The “free” membership, which is what most can afford, will be left behind. Wait until they get their campground open I’m sure both of them will have a different perspective about Business and money. And what would happen if someone came to the campground with a Black Lives Matter flag?Maybe the other place won’t allow flags because of discrimination and don’t want a legal battle so no flags are permitted. Sadly, there just aren't as many people out there anymore who treat other people's property with the level of respect that most of us do. The problem with that is that you usually don't find that out until after the fact. Most business owners are "closet authors" who are all writing the very same book titled, " NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED ". Kind of like living in Florida during hurricane season ( which J&M are familiar with). Pray for the best and prepare for the worst.

@@anar3602 I fear that they may have made an offer that they can't fiscally back up on their own and that as a result they may end up brokenhearted. Bringing on a limited number of investors to help finance the purchase with a promise of financial return is significantly different than selling annual membership that may evaporate a year or two in. That type of business model makes it difficult to plan for future year improvements and repairs. I pray for their success.

Hello RV ODD COUPLE, I have followed you guys for quite a while now. I enjoy watching your videos and seeing your adventures. Whether it's the fun moments, or even the not so good curve ball moments life can throw at you. What I appreciate in you the most, is that you are real people. People who care. People with values, morals and ethics. That's not as common in today's world as it once was. I love the whole idea of the campground site you want to open and restore. It speaks volumes as to who you are, and how much you want to share with others that are strangers now, but may become great friends. Unfortunately in today's world, a lot of the experiences and fun and bonding times families in the past were able to enjoy, is not as accessible or available as it once was. I believe the family unit, and the moral fiber that makes this country so great is under attack purposely. It's the corporate giants (Media, Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals, Banking and so many others) that want to tear us apart and divide us, as a family, as a nation, and as a moral Christian people. It's in plain sight these days in all of the propaganda and all of the anti American policies they are instilling upon us. I applaud your persistence and encourage your efforts. We need more people who will stand up and stand together to make a difference. Whether it's to the corporations trying to take over the RV campgrounds or its to anyone that wants to divide us as a people. Together, we are strong, and our voice can and will be heard. Divided, we are weak and powerless. Thats true with all of our spending habits, voting selections, or even just how we treat eachother. I know to some this may sound off the wall, but I respond by saying, turn on your TV one last time. Watch your network news, but really look at it, and think about it. Is it the same from 10 years ago even? Or does there seem to be an underlying agenda or narrative being pushed upon us. After seeing it, turn off the TV. Unplug yourself from the "programming". Go outside.. Start to do things and experience things for yourself or even better with your families. Life is too short not to take advantage of what we still have. I look forward to joining the RV community full time in the not so far out future(4 years). I really hope that the RV Odd Couple and Squad are successful and restore this and many other campgrounds around the country. I will finally officially join the Odd Squad today, and hopefully soon be able help out by joining the next tier to support your missions work. Thank you so much, for your entertaining moments, ideas, tips, and everything else you have done. But thanks most of all, for being you, real people who care. You guys are spot on with what's happening in the RV industry. We've been full-time for 8 years and recently decided to go part-time because of all that has changed. Every whiner about the "1%" and "corporations", learn something here: those "evil" people are the ones who provide jobs and own companies that employ most of us. Had you taken the risks most of them have taken, you'd have had big payoffs too. What you fail to understand is that MANY of the 1% are the very people many of you idolize in sports and film and music, but their wealth is ok because you like them personally. Then you turn around and blast the heads of businesses who are responsible for thousands of employees' futures. I think a CEO who answers to millions of stockholders and tens of thousands of employees is more valuable to our economy than a ball player, but that's just my preference. Too many of you think every wealthy person inherited it or it just fell in their laps or they stole it somehow. There's this thing called incredibly hard work that some people do for decades and there's this reward for that called money. You don't realize that many of the 1% are people who have worked their asses off for 40 years (or multiple family generations) and provided jobs for thousands of families and care deeply about their employees. Quit labeling people as if they are all the same and dehumanizing them for their success. It's a shame so many have drank the koolaid of "us against them" and can't be happy for someone who has worked hard and succeeded, but instead lump all wealthy people as bad and uncaring. That's just ignorance. I'm not in the 1%, but I'm smart enough to know that those are the people who provide jobs and invest in the future of their businesses making them more stable for their employees. Expand your understanding and your thinking. BTW, "corporation" is a tax status and has nothing to do with the size of a business or level of caring of the people who own that business. Over 80% of corporations in this country are considered small businesses (less than 1000 employees) and we better damn well hope they succeed because they are employing most of us.

When I first started watching your channel I was working on selling out and living full time in a van or RV. But I got hit with a health curve ball so that will not happen for me. But I continue to watch and I'm telling you, this sounds so exciting! I'm sad I won't be able to be involved in this endeavor, but how wonderful! We visit a camp ground here locally and they still have the old fashion vision and absolutely love it there, fortunate for them but unfortunate for a lot of people is they were voted best camp ground in PA and are now booked out a year or two in advance. I believe in all your values and got me thinking how nice it would be to own a camp ground that held all these values and wouldn't you know a local camp ground came up for sale in the area we like to go. I even started making a list of potential investors.

Unfortunately Wallstreet has infiltrated EVERYTHING. i am a therapist and they have bought out outpatient practices!! Dentists, vet practices, urgent care clinics, now RVing. Heartbreaking what has happened to our country. So sorry this has happened, but sounds like a blessing has emerged out of it.

Almost all the health care access in my county from the dr clinics to specialists to labs/radiologists to hospitals/ERs/Urgent Cares are owned by just a couple of health care corporations. The poorest and sickest folks suffer the most because of health care mergers.
