Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This RU-vid channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

$1200 is pretty wild when you have Takomo at $480-580-680. At $1200 you’re comparing with Mizuno, Taylormade, Callaway, and Titleist and I just can’t imagine Vice has the brand following or capabilities to really compete with the big brands.

I don´t think they´re trying to compete with DTC brands, more chasing after the big monsters like Taylormade, Callaway etc, their balls definitely have the brand following...

Insane, I don t get it. The 7 iron 29°, what s the loft for the 8 and 9 iron? The PW? Somewhere there must be a huge gap! My 6i has got 30°, my 7i 34° - that s how it should be!

I am already Testing (bought a 7 Iron) from the VGI01 and i love it. Same thing like by Rick, the face closes so good and i Hit absolute consistent draws. (Normally i am not a slicer but more a straight Ball Flight hitter.

Im so happy Vice is starting into the club market. I've been using their balls for years, and they're on par with the top spec balls on the market, always have been. This review shows how forgiving these clubs can be. I'll definitely be looking at these when I'm ready for new irons!

And here we see why Rick Shiels is so popular. It's not that he's an exceptional golfer who can be on tour, it's probably the fact that he's relatable to the everyday golfer. We don't hit the middle of the club face all the time, but I think this kind of review just shows how forgiving these clubs are. 🔥🔥

every single set of irons seems "forgiving " out of a mat, good luck miss striking your irons like this with grass and the big ball behind your ball. This video is a CLEAR example of why Rick shiels needs game improvers not cavity backs, if you're miss hitting 7/10 iron shots there's no cbi that can make up that deficit,some of this shots would've been 50 yards short on the course

@@Slicktycoon he’s not relatable tho that’s the problem. He’s a good golfer nothing more but acts like he is a scratch golfer. He refuse to play game improvement irons because he thinks he’s too good for them but for the rest of us they are okay. Over the last 2 years to me Rick has completely changed from someone relatable to someone that seems to think he’s better than other people. For me personally it’s really turned me off of him and I was a fan way back. I mean he can’t even respond to comments ever. Then there’s someone like Peter Finch engaged with his comments and followers and truly seems like one of the guys. If I ran into them in a pub Peter would probably buy me a drink where as Rick would not seem approachable just my opinion tho.

I really like the look of these clubs. Spin rates are a bit low even allowing for the strong lofts but not really lower than similarly lofted hollow bodied irons. Not sure most average golfers would buy a full set, with the strong lofts I would probably go 6i-PW I agree with Rick, these are impressive

I have the TAKOMO 101’s Bought them to be my second ,spare set but my oh my ! They’re Awsome Feel and Distance Is amazing ! Love them and My other set King Cobra Forged Tech are pretty dang Good too but cost 3 times more than the Takomo’s -the only problem I had was the Regular size Lampkin Grips were to Skinny ,Would go the Mid Size ! Can Buy 2 sets of Takomo’s for the price of 1 set of Vice!

Vice is on a completely different level in terms of quality and R&D. Let’s put Vice head-to-head with TaylorMade and Titleist. Takomo etc. can be tested separately.

I am an avid high handicap player. I play new Cleveland launcher irons and wedges plus an older Cleveland PW which still bombs. Also, always found the Sirxon balls to be some of the best performing balls out there most especially for the price. Overall, Roger Cleveland Golf company is a superb company

I like Vice, they're a cool brand. I've used their balls on and off, when they're on the dozen free... But here's the rub. They're effectively charging premium brand prices now. Even for balls, which are only cheapish) if you buy five dozen at a time. The clubs look nice but won't be dislodging my Takomos that were less than half the price

Good looking and perform well enough to make Rick look good, that's to be commended. Will I buy them to replace my current irons. NO. Changing irons annually or every 2nd or 3rd year is just not in 90% of golfers budget's But every golfer loves new gear so we are all watching and thinking, yep they'd look great in my bag.

Pricey! You have Maltby satin forged, way cheaper and good performers, Kirkland, Sub 70, Wilson, Takomo, MacGregor, Ram, Cleveland Launcher XL, other DTC!

Not sure you could ever confuse Rick with a tour player especially when he is clearly struggling to hit the clubs he is testing!! I agree the video’s are usually good. Time will tell if there is a market for these. Always tough for a new brand. Look great though.

A comparison to a P790 or similar on the simulator would've really shown if they were a good purchase. No custom fit must be a disadvantage for many. They look nice though!

I have some older Vice clubs. I hit them last week and they are fine . Smaller head with a cavity back but feel good. I aso hit some Palm Springs clubs, do you know anything about them?

Visually looks a bit chunky and aimed more toward the higher teen handicap, typical CB is usually for a slightly better ball striker and these are STRONG lofts. Not for me, but cool to see more brands giving it a go, my Wilson CBs are safe for now

A lot of the DTC brands do look identical, but this one is actually one of the most unique. The closest it comes to looking the same is the Sub70's...and the Sub70's are the most unique looking of DTC brand. Whereas Takomo and Caley ARE identical.

Vice clubs are the only one which really look unique. You can see that they’re based on true R&D and not just another mold like the other D2C brands use.

The website says "handcrafted in Germany" and "meticulously hand-built by our expert team in Germany" I don't know if that means that the actual manufacturing plant is there or just that they are being designed and assembled in Germany.

@@joelafives the heads are manufactured in casting/forging factories overseas and assemble in germany. Design was probably made in germany. Its par for the course when it comes to most golf clubs. Is golf equipment overly expensive? Yep! Does it need to be for these companies to still make a profit? Nope. Greed is a powerful thing.

I think the "German Engineering" engraving is to get TM's mind off another law suit since, like most hollow-body irons, these look a lot like P790s. I'm currently playing Vince balls and can attest that they are good (though the soft covers don't last as long as I'd like). All these look really good, and though they're a DTC ball company, the website says that these are available at Club Champion so we can go get fit for them.

A lot of the DTC brands are almost identical. Takomo, Sub70, Maltby, Hayward, Caley, Ram, etc all have hollow bodies with identical lofts but just different looks/finishes (very slight differences for some). I think they're all pretty much the same. Seen the Takomos reviewed? Then that'll suffice for the rest, I reckon. Would be nice to see Rick test this specifically. Put 3 near identical DTC brands up against each other and find out.

I love vice golf balls sense 2016 and love them and love not paying 60 bucks for a dozen, I have to say the irons for me is a bit to much it's in a price point where it's worth the extra 100 bucks to get fitted, I think takomos are absolutely amazing and worth the 600 bucks .

The price point on these are a bit too high since we can just buy brand name at that point. The whole idea behind vice golf balls is brand name performance for cheaper but this move with the pricing kind of alludes to where vice is taking their brand... into the premium price market.

It's still so weird to me that more and more sets are coming without a 4 iron, and some even refer to the 4 as a driving iron now. The focus on replacing long irons with hybrids these days has likely helped contribute to my mates who are new at golf inability to strike the ball well.

Only thing I’m waiting for from vice is all their clubs in lefty! I’ve played the ball for years and died a bit on the inside when they released right hand only clubs

I used Vice balls for a while, til I noticed the cover looked like it was chipping, kind of like a cheap paint job. ball performed well, just seemed cheap, didn't last long. These clubs look nice, kind of a steep price! I play Mizuno's and they weren't as much for a set.
