It's under the assumption you know what's happening. If your hair does that outside, there's a good chance lightning will strike you or very close. Standing around admiring it is stupid when the safest place was inside those vehicles.

Whilst static CAN be a sign of eminent lightning, that's NOT what's happening here. When sledding on sand dunes, the sled rubs against the sand. The granular shape of the sand makes many tiny protruding points where electrons have a greater chance of coming off, whilst the plastic at the bottom is relatively smooth so as to not have this electron ejecting effect. Plastics are good at storing static charges, which results in a buildup of negative charge on the sled. The electrons are most likely to be ejected from the sled's sharp corners and edges, which is mostly around the rim, handles, and other parts with which the rider is likely to come into contact. The rider develops a net negative charge after sledding for a while. Since sand is not a good conductor and the riders are wearing shoes to boot, the negative charge does not dissipate from their bodies very easily. Thus the riders become statically charged.

I was reading Hannah Arendt's book on totalitarianism, and at some point I realized she was talking about the trolley problem a couple of decades before it was coined. I concluded that the only people heartless enough to force someone into a situation where their only choice is to kill, and where all creative solutions are disallowed, are Nazis, Stalinists, and philosophers.

That happened to me once as a child. My cousin had just come back from hong kong and she had souvenirs for us. The hyoid bone is incredible. Adult hyoid bones are brittle and easily break. What this leads to is if you break someone’s hyoid bone you ultimately cut off all air. However in children and in younger adults the hyoid bone is still flexible and will bend making it much harder to break and while a person you’ve chosen to choke may pass out, they may not die. …please don’t go purposely testing this out. But anyways medical examiners will check to see if the hyoid bone is injured to see cause of death.

I don't remember the exact explanation, but charge can accumulate in the air and once theres alot of it ,it can spontaneously erupts , that's how lighting strikes happen

same. something similar happened to me when i was little, i had a trycicle and an adult tried to ride it for fun, it was made of plastic and obviously didnt support his weight so it shattered as soon as he sat on it. Sadly i wasnt bought a new one :/

I wondered if the owner of the house was usually feeding this fox (by leaving food outside maybe, willingly or not), and then the fox, seeing the newspaper being deteriorated by the rain, put it on a rain-safe place to help the human he likes (or just because he doesn't want food supply to stop)... ... or if he just smelt chemical odours coming from it because of rain melting with printing ink, and he just gave back to humans their polluting waste because it was too close to a rat hole (which means fox' fridge). I'd really wanna know the real reason though
