I still want them to address the comments made by Shane’s wife Sarah and one of their employees. I also think they need to address how their company needs money if they have such lavish lifestyles. They made choices and these are the consequences. They overhired and over produced and they don’t wanna change their own habits so it’s on the fans. You were spot on when you said they want to make film on watchers/the fans dollar. They want to make what THEY want to make and not what WE want to watch and are asking us to foot the bill so they can eat cavier covered in gold in their teslas while we struggle to pay rent. They might have addressed the terrible idea that the app was but they didn’t address all of it
Yes exactly, also can't alot of their cost's (like driving/flying around the country/world and the food) be tax deductible since its for work? I mean i dont really know how it works and to what extend especially in the US as im European but that's what ive heard
@@90charmedndangerous well my first piece of advice to them about how to save money is to cancer the Worth It Travel season. Somehow I missed that that exists
Sarah's comment is frustrating because it was very telling as to the mentality of the company. It was so condescending. It's not that we dont WANT them to make a livable wage. It's not that we don't understand why they need more money. The mentality of us being too dumb to understand and too selfish to care, is disgusting and out of touch. Most of their viewers DON'T make a livable wage. It's not that we don't want them to make good money. It's that some of us CAN'T afford to help them rn.
ESPECIALLY Steven. Teaming up with Steven was one of the worst business decisions they’ve ever made. he was the mastermind behind this entire thing, they need to get rid of him.
The biggest thing to me is I don't believe for a second that this money was necessary. Stop producing shows about flying first class to eat gold plated steaks and hiring your friends to go eat them in your tesla
I think they listened hard to what people were saying. With a lot of people bashing on Steven and uncertainty of how on board Ryan and Shane were really it feels obvious that they catered this new vid to that. Steven said hardly anything and Ryan and Shane switching seats making Shane the focal point and main speaker when he barely spoke in the first vid. It changed the vibes entirely.
100% Like I said, it seems very purposeful and calculated. I also think they knew they had to make some sort of compromise or they would lose literally everything.
The whole thing was condescending. I agree with the comment that said They're not sorry, they're sorry for the backlash. Sarah's comment was a huge insight into the companies mentality. The guys made the apology sound like it was a problem with their marketing and their explanation. They "didn't explain it well" NO Ryan, We're not idiots, we understand where the money's going! We just don't understand why you even need more money because you're making bank and we don't ask for much, We feel distraught that you don't understand your audience this much, we CAN'T afford to pay that for ONE channel, And the numbers don't add up enough for us to trust it. Even Netflix is struggling and The cheapest version of netflix has ads. What exactly was the plan here after this? Sarah's comment is frustrating for the same reasons. The mentality of us being too dumb to understand and too selfish to care, is disgusting and out of touch. Most of their viewers probably DON'T make a livable wage. It's not that we don't want them to make good money. It's that some of us CAN'T help.
Btw it's free for patreons for only 3 months, after that they have to pay which is something they didn't wanna say. They don't NEED money, they WANT money, they are led by greed.
I wouldn’t even care if there is exclusive content behind a paywall. Like them resurrecting a new show or two, fine. As long as the core content people come to RU-vid to watch is available as always. The streaming service might not last long if it’s content coming out early, but after all this, I get that’s why it’s the best move.
I also absolutely think this is a portfolio builder. They likely want a significant investor to notice them in order to make an actual television show, not the closest version to it which is what they’re trying to currently offer.
I respect that they turned it around so quick. I honestly didn’t think that was going to happen and that if an apology were to come, that it was going to take a lot longer than 3 days. Still not happy with any part of this situation and I still don’t trust them for all the reasons you and others mentioned. I do really feel like there’s something bigger going on regarding their “money problems” though. Almost like one of them got in deep with the wrong people, or someone has a gambling addiction we don’t know about. It’s probably something simple like bad management, bad investments, or just general greed. But either way, the math ain’t mathin.
Granted I've never heard of The Watcher until this video (also finding your channel) and advise people that if they want to support my content to buy my books (so they get something back) and while I'm still small and every view is a blessing I also found that people seem quite happy to see someone talk (one of my most viewed videos discusses being transgender and autistic and my most viewed video involves me talking about concepts, such as the theory that society developed because of how it was to even get wood in the state of nature while walking the lonesome road and jumping into other games from time to time). I hope the best for all who read this and it was lovely having you here.
They clearly listened to the main points of criticism, apologized without getting defensive, and offered a middle ground that everyone can be happy with. As far as apologies go, that’s pretty good. I’m willing to forgive, but I certainly won’t be quick to forget
I will say I have no expectation that Watcher TV will be successful. After everything that has happened yeah I just don't see it I don't see how they could possibly do that. I'm sure they spent a lot of time trying to come up with that concept and then the way they try to roll it out immediately ruined it all for them
