You guys, mental breakdowns aren't only for those who have mental illness. You can be perfectly normal but under stress and bad situations you'll break down mentally. Normalize understanding breakdowns. People don't just breakdown over minor stuff.
@H0kram
@H0kram 3 года назад
Yes, it can happen to anyone. Even with a very thick skin, there's a limit to everything. Actually the toughest you are the harder it is because when you keep holding for months, if not years, by the time it comes out, it's a tsunami. And the fact of not recognizing yourself in such behaviors, is probably the worst. Because those confusions lead to expectations of handling it and failing at it, which leads to frustration and shame. Fuck this person for recording it, it's more violent than punching this young man and kicking him in the face. I see people might realize that no one is protected from it. At least we may get that out of it. Any of you watching, you're only 2 or 3 steps away from breaking apart, especially these days. Same for people around you. It might already be the case. She's done so much better and I'm happy to see that for her. Customers can be straight up Aholes tho, I've seen clients straight up just be impatient and turn to being blatantly offensive, it happens a lot actually and that's not ok behavior, treat others with respect and *JUST BE PATIENT* if you're in a hurry don't take it out on the employees, straight up.

@@Lindraws04 At least I try to be, but at one point it was incredibly bad, when I first started at that business location all the other members warned me about her breakdowns, I didn't know what to expect until I saw it first hand. The poor girl would be assisting a client and just suddenly shutdown, shake her head and drop to her knees crying hysterically. The customers wouldn't know what to do and I would have to show up and talk to her and even give her an extra break just to get her head together, sometimes it was little things that would trigger her BUT I worked with her on that and it went from like a once a week kind of thing to two weeks and now it's been a whole year and I haven't seen an episode once, she's progressed incredibly well and I'm proud of her, I even explained to her that the company pays for some counseling so if she needed to talk, she had someone professional to go to and that helped, she didn't know this before I got there but overall my point is, as a leader you have to care about your crew and not only challenge them but also try different strategies to help them succeed. Now when i work with her she brings a strong positive attitude towards her job that I'll catch her singing and joking around even so that she's looking to move up with the company. Exactly. When id talk about my hallucinations or hospitalizations people would say something like "oh yeah I'm like that to. Like when I got super depressed for like an hour after my favourite character died." No. Its nothing like that at all. Sooo many people in high-school faked mental illnesses to be "cool" or "quirky" and its disgusting. Actually the vast majourity that faked their problems did it for the medicine, which they then sold to other students. Meanwhile I couldn't get the medicine I needed because they accused me of being an addict, though unlike others in school I never asked for meds by name. I was mocked so much by so many people for my mental illness just to see them turn around and proudly tell everyone they are bipolar or something. Ive never met anyone who genuinely deals with mental health issues that would be proud to tell people their diagnosis. Sure I can say I'm schizoaffective here with anonymity, but in person I am so ashamed of myself and afraid of what people would think that I would never. The stigma around mental health would never allow me to feel safe telling anyone.

I remember dealing with some B.S. one time where the people in corporate, including immediate managers were avoiding the angry customers at all costs. As the front line people, we got yelled at on the daily. I just started transferring people directly to managers and any personal corporate people's numbers that I had. After months of getting screamed at constantly.. you just stop caring if they fire you. The issue that was happening was beyond my control and had everything to do with the system at the warehouse that had tons of bugs in it and didn't work right so nothing was getting shipped. I worked in an office and the warehouse was in a completely different state but every customer took out their frustration/anger on us. After working various customer service positions and also dealing with this, I will never get upset at a front line worker for something they aren't in control of. I think the people who are so hateful to these employees are most likely people who have never worked in that type of job.

@@kys3347 Dylan’s sentiment about people essentially trying to 1-up each other “Keeping up with the Jones” mentality about their grievances is true, but at its core I think it’s exacerbated by your point exactly: that people who *weren’t* having these issues felt “left out” on social media, so they started to either get involved with bringing attention to the matter (this route of thinking is good). But in reality, more people than that (typically sub-30 year olds I’ve noticed) just “play along” in order to get attention and validation, after which when they receive it, they fall into a feedback loop of “I need attention; I got attention on Social Media; Now I need _more_ attention” which feeds into a different part of the brain that causes its own mental issues particularly affecting personality and self-control. Just like a drug addict in their feedback loop essentially.

It's really stressful as an employee cuz you try to call the customer, they have no phone number on file, try to call expedia, they cant help till the customer gets there, try to call another hotel and hook them up, the other hotel is having the same problem.
