LCS players are content with any result because 99% of them wont lose their job. They never perform at worlds, and if they do, its because of a lucky draw. Part of the reason they're not *as* upset isn't even because of them not wanting it more or less than berserker, or they don't care/phoning it in. It's burn-out, and suffering from success. Fudge and blaber especially are probably not as effected because c9 IS so used to winning. So a loss may feel less damning to them. They don't have the same drive as berserker and it sucks, because if they did they'd be as dominant as 2020 spring. Sven and Vulcan boot camped in korea and climbed as a duo to the top of the ladder, and licorice and blaber were way way more focused on being the best. Sven has always. always been a grinder, it's why him and berserker worked so well together. He had the drive, whereas it seems like nobody on this roster barring zerks has any drive left. They either need to nuke the roster completely and let berserker go, or free up supp/jungle for a hungry import and they need to start from scratch at the bottom. But I really don't think this iteration of the team will ever have that drive again, unless something drastic changes or happens.

@@thedeviousone181 not at all lmao. He's been perma weakside ever since he joined C9 yet half the games they're losing he'd randomly just 1v9 a team fight and bring them back including last summer. Also to say he was weaker than Emenes or Fudge last summer split is just ridiculous lmao, when fudge was basically getting camped top by Blabber just to be a moving control ward most of the game, and Emenes literally just ran it down the last half of the split. This split is probably the best case you'd have for him being the worst player on C9, yet the rest of his team was also so shit it's still hard to argue.

Honestly if a roster spot opens up in LCK I can see Berserker leave on his own, the reason he came was for LS initially but the way C9 is right now, there is no way going forward it's going to improve, the best roster they have put together in a while and not even making MSI.

Imagine how emenes felt last year. He was super passionate and always wanted better for himself and the team, but his English was so poor that he couldn’t effectively communicate. For this reason I’m pretty sure nobody on c9 actually bothered to listen to him. He was actually a really good player in this league and he got done dirty imho.

This, exactly. It's been brought up in another content pieces by players like Vulcan how so many scrims Blaber and/or Jojo either just smurf or chain run it and it being hard to get actual value from scrims as a result. Which is why it's no wonder this C9 seems to have no clue what to do post-15 vs competent teams if they don't have a major lead and sometimes even if they do - they literally never have practice in those scenarios because of how often it gets flipped. Jojo even straight up said, in this video, how if something is fucked somehow early, he just runs it. Which if I'm Berserker yeah...I'd be fucking pissed at how flippant he is about it. It just sounds like he's dealing with a mid (and jungle as well) that just flip it early or decide to run it to see if something flips back if early game goes wrong, rather than actually try to learn and play the map and pull the game back. It'd be one thing if Jojo and/or Blaber were calling for crazy plays to try to turn games around or hit things from a weird angle but it just sounds like Jojo taking every 1v1 or 1v2 or whatever to try to take the game back because he considers it lost anyway, like it's fucking soloq. And honestly, as a C9 fan, I'm glad to see this from Berserker and to have experienced it from the content team. I want this to gain traction and to light fires under asses because this shit should not fly.

2 out those 3 won worlds especially Gumma last year was a beast by the end of worlds, if I'm a competitor I would feel some kind of way about it, but while Gumma has Faker, Zeus, Keria, Oner, I look around and yeah...

C9 had some very bad drafts this split. I remember one game they were ahead but straight up lost partially because Jojo’s Akali and Berserker’s Senna had no wave clear.

Yep. Zven has been the main shotcaller on the team the whole time. The lineup looks like a banger on paper, but without Zven there is no main voice, Zven has been the leader even when he was adc. People like to shit on him, and he wasnt an amazing support player, but the leadership is what was needed, and now thats all gone. Berserker looked so good with Zven, and now even he looks rough at times.

They probably WOULD have kept sven, but he wanted to try to find a spot on a team as an adc. He's a great voice and a support but he found the role boring compared to adc. XD Honestly speaking they need a support who can shotcall, and help direct Jojo as well. But I don't think there's anyone available atm who would be able to do that, along with having an import top OR bringing licorice back. And...they need to swap veigarv2 to head coach to replace mithy. C9s system worked for years because the region as a whole was run by 1 or 2 teams. Regardless of what people think or say about how dogshit it is, but...the league as a whole HAS leveled up and gotten more competitive. They can't just hands diff teams anymore, the whole system needs to change, it's archaic at this point. And NA scene as a whole...needs to change if they wanna be competitive. Teams are too lazy and content to collect free paychecks. They don't care if they win or lose.

@@GoznerPeter when LS was coach of c9 for a short time and was fired, c9 still won lcs and jack (c9 owner) came out with public statements and a video basically crediting the "systems" working for c9's success, "systems" basically meaning the established infrastructure and practices of the c9 team/org. now that c9 is failing, especially after the current roster got hyped as a superteam, any mention of the "systems" from c9 is nonexistent. pretty sure OP is alluding to that.

I mean umpti was keeping tl in it for the regular season but apa was...kind of all talk. He definitely stepped up for playoffs, but Jojo and blaber SHOULD be able to gap them if they were actually consistently playing at their relative best. But they aren't, and they got shit on. Kudos to APA tho, dude improved when it mattered most and umpti finally has some much deserved success.

How reductive of Corejj's career. I've been hyper critical of him the last two years, but he was the League MVP on support for how long? He was actually just carrying the entire LCS for years in both performance, and narrative. TL doesn't make it to MSI finals without him. He definitely didn't coast, and this year he has been better than the last couple years.

Can you elaborate on the c9 system that Jack doesn't want to change?

​​@@javi4591as best i understand it c9s current system focuses more on players having a healthy mentality and body, and a more relaxed scrim schedule compared to what LS wanted to employ. LS wanted to change the team into an LCK-esque schedule but especially for NA and our health standards, wouldn't work and the players were complaining about how rigorous the schedule was and the work ethic required. Aka, it probably felt more like a job than just playing a game they loved/could make a living off of by just being decent, instead of wanting to the the best they could be. LCK teams usually scrim as much as the average person works a 9-5 and then they have to do a certain amount of solo que each day as well. Add onto this the vod reviews and breakdowns and you see why a region that's pretty lazy and content with mediocrity at an international level would have an issue with such a drastic change to the systems they'd used for years.

TL[CK] last year tried to employ this kind of rigorous schedule as well but it's not nearly as effective when the overall level of competition leaves little room for growth or improvement.

"Rookie top" is such a nothing statement. The fact is there aren't all these new rookie players who are going to be able to toe-to-toe without somebody who has been player in a major region. Giving up Blaber means you get rid of a NA Resident player who is also the most dominate LCS jungler of all time so watch out where you are going to put the double-edge sword. You can hate Blaber all you want for his crazy int moments, and isolated deaths, but he's been part of the reason C9's floor has been so high for so many years.

Three splits ago he was winning titles, player of the week, third highest player of the game that split, and managed to still make it on all pro team, but lets act like Fudge was never good because that's totally not recency based analysis! Obviously, he isn't anywhere near his peak, but the anti-fudge fetish is so disgusting. @@MemeAdicction Doesn't matter who calls what if a player sees a play. It's either the right play or the wrong one regardless of who calls it. There is not one "shotcaller." That's a decade old misunderstanding of how a team functions.

You don't have to frame every conversation with an argumentive approach. Being rhetorically effective means being able to talk to different people in different ways based on the rapport you have with the opposite party, and the using a feedback loop to understand what does, and doesn't work. For all you know players could've been dunking on each other, and it didn't lead to any constructive outcome, or worse was negatively impacting everyone's performance.

I don't think he's talking about stage games. It's more that he feels like he's the only one taking scrims seriously. He says everyone else is fine with losing. Imagine if word got out that a professional player in traditional sports didn't take training seriously. They'd not be on the team for long, I can tell you that much.

He would've been sold to a bottom team if he stayed in LCK with a pisslow salary as a best case scenario. He was THIRD string adc on T1 with no pathway to LCK under Guma, anTeddy at the time. LS scouting him MADE his career in terms of championships, and ability to go to Worlds, but you just want to take any opportunity to shit on LS because you are low functioning irl it's OK.
