@@Shadowmech88For sure. They wanted to make a kind of darker game, so Sonic's voice had to get deeper. There's a whole video of Roger Craig Smith (Sonic's VA) saying how he felt about Sonic Frontiers, and one of the things he said was that the producers really wanted him to make a lower voice lol
@@GUNUFofficial Sonic Heroes is Sonic Adventure 3, Sonic 06 is Sonic Adventure 4, and Shadow the Hedgehog is the bridge between 3 and 4. But that is a truth the world is not ready to hear
"And I can revoke it at any time." Gives off the vibe of those parents who tell their children "I brought you into this world, and I can take you out of it!! >:("
Sonic 06 definitely agrees with that statement. Also, unrelated, but I love that profile picture! I don't see many people familiar with Squid Girl. It was my first anime, and I remember it quite fondly!
I was wondering about this, because I haven’t played an actual sonic game since Adventure 2. I thought the Jaleel White style voice was the best, but if Jehtt is riffing on how sonic actually sounds in this game then more power to him lol
@@intsoccersuperstar1 Yeah, you can find an interview with Roger Craig Smith about his Sonic Frontiers voice. The director had him drop his voice like two octaves and Smith’s initial response was “you’ve got to be kidding me”
@@HadaronDeeper voice=more serious story. Even though nothing fucking happens in Frontiers' story, just a bunch of faffing around across the SEGA HIRE THIS MAN Archipelago.
“Collision is a privilege” 06 and shadow the hedgehog 2005 love to agree Edit: (I am aware shadow 05 is way more polished than heroes I just encountered a few bugs on my ps2 play through, combined with the fact that Its one of my favorites had it come to mind for the collision joke) I tried to shorten that as much as possible I’m just clearing it up i like 05, I also replied to a few comments to explain what glitches I encountered
"why does knuckles have an infinite jump ?" "perhaps the cyber-corruption of the ancient race of echidnas has unlocked knuckles' hidden potential on the star fall islands"
It wouldn't be the first time either - Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric also infamously had a Knuckles infinite jump glitch that allowed you to skip huge portions of the game. Unfortunately that one got patched out.
"Yo Sage, how did Big get trapped in Cyberspace." "The one you know as 'Big' is not here. What you are seeing is just your mind projecting someone important to you" "...Really out of all the people I met, Big's the one I project" "I suppose" "I mean I don't hate him but he didn't even come to my birthday party. Blaze came and she lives in a separate dimension" "Perhaps you find his presence the most comforting" "Nah that's probably Cream. Feels like the only reason I projected Big was because this world wanted me to fish."
@@sonicultimateyt1090 You're right about one thing... Big didn't get trapped in cyberspace. The comment wasn't joking when they said that Big wasn't there. They literally confirm in the Final Horizon update that Big was fabricated in cyberspace by Sonic's memories of him, and that Big never came to the Starfall Islands.
"What about the others from my memories? Like.. I don't know, Rouge?" "She would increase the age rating." "What? I just think her skills in gliding and climbing and so on would help get across a little.. or Shadow with chaos control.." "Cope."
@@Santoryu90 As well as publishers. “Give your employees plenty of time to do their jobs. Stop rushing them all the time.” Investors need to be told to be patient. They might not like waiting, but people tend to like finished products more than buggy messes.
@@TepidBlackEveryone likes to pretend like Sonic Team are the exact same people for hire every single time they make this point, most of the people who made forces and lost world are gone, the people who made boom are gone, the people who made, gens, colors, unleashed, 06? Also mostly gone, so are you implying that the name Sonic Team is just a curse for incompetence?
"Perhaps your mind doesn't have enough bandwidth for your memories to be loaded quickly." She really went "You don't have enough memory in the memory card."
In the Genesis version of Sonic 2, the outer space background is fake. As if it was a movie setting. As seen while using Debug Mode and exploring above Wing Fortress' boss area. Why even is that? How'd that make any sense? Why didn't Yuji Naka just program in a full space background from the start to the end of the map as if it's real? While also not scroll endlessly after dying during the spaceship cutscene.
"collision is a privilege, and I can revoke it at any time" - as a game dev I am both offended and absolutely going to use that in a game jam one day - makes for a great theme idea
The ending with "collision is a privilege" is amazing, but I think a really underrated line here is: "Perhaps your mind doesn't have enough bandwidth for your memories to be loaded quickly."
To be a little fair, high speeds and collision detection never mix well. However, there are ways to improve things and those should already be baked into their engine at this point.
The idea of making objects have a glitchy effect when they pop in an out of render distance would be such a smart and cool way to solve the problem of short loading range
Oh god, imagine if someone just had that as a superpower. Being able to turn off collision of anyone or anything, and re-grant it, at will. Terrifying.
It’s kind of like how Sonic fans just get used to bugs and oddities that normal players would question. Like Heroes actually being jank af for example, or 3D games when the scripting breaks, “you shouldn’t have pressed anything.”
Real, I love sonic frontiers but I can’t even imagine how amazing it would have been with a year or two more dev time. I was actually speedrunning some cyberspace levels last night it’s a lot of fun
Honestly, in the context of a digital world, seeing obstacles form right in front of you is a pretty cool idea. Instant pop-in isn't the way to go about that, though.
"Give developers plenty of time to create games so that the experience isn't dragged down by glitches." The Pokémon Company and the Game Freak higher-ups: (sweating and seething furiously)
More like just Game Freak. Pokemon Company actually do put some effort. Look at some Pokemon animations with the Synchro Machine (and if you can't afford the DLC, just watch it on RU-vid).
"i do mind, but i know you will ask anyway" this is exactly sonic and sage's relationship dynamic. if (when) sage appears again in a future title, i want every single one of their conversations to be like this.
iirc there is actually a line of dialogue where Sage says she can't see the rails, and they must be only appearing for Sonic due to his cyber corruption.
"But why only 4 places? I've been in space, the medieval ages, and even the center of the earth! And all I get is green hill, sky sanctuary and new york?" "Maybe cyberspace is using memories that are more familiar to you." "Hey that excuse doesn't work, I've been in sky sanctuary like, twice! I go to space more than I visit knuckles!"
Sage is so real for that. Also Sonic complaining about not visiting new places like he's not on some ancient islands with never before seen enemies. smh
Believe it or not, Ian confirmed a while ago that he didn't write for the small conversations in the Final Horizon update. He wrote for the actual cutscenes, but the update's new Side Stories were handled by someone else. The handwaves to the game's flaws weren't really on Ian.
I’ve given it a lot of time to think and let it settle, and i think sonic frontiers is the bones of something amazing. Like it needed a lot more work. I find the islands aesthetics to not be overly interesting or diverse, and i’d rather more variety in the cyber space levels since all we got was green hill, chemical plant, sky garden, and some blurry highway. Like if you’re going down that path give us more levels like generations. Give us a beach level, or a fire level, or a city level. Then that shit would be great. All the rails and bounce pads and stuff strewn about the world is kinda fun, but again it just needs the teeniest bit more. I appreciate sonic frontiers coz i know if they continue down that path its the beginning of something really great. But knowing sonic team they may just abandon the whole idea. But i think theres so much potential for an incredible game if they improve in the sequel
