Gorillaz is a British 'Virtual Band' created by Damon Albarn who was the lead in the band Blur.

This band was a fantastic experiment, that hasn't really been recreated since. It's essentially 1 guy, that colabs with different artists every album to make something unique, funky, and creatively inspirational. It's about not idolizing the people, or judging them by how they look, or what race they are. But just all about the great music.

The rapper in Clint Eastwood is Del The Funky Homosapien, and in Feelgood Inc. the rapper's are part of De La Soul.

Breaking the role here, there's not "real Gorillaz", they are just a cartoon band, every member of the people that make the music changes for the next album (except for the singer, but I mean... It's the singer), the reall Gorillaz are 2-D (singer), Noodle (guitarist), Murdoc (bassist) and Russel (drummer). The creators of Gorillaz wanted to show that the music industry doesn't care about real people, so much so that the band members don't need to be humans to make sucess.

Gorillaz being a virtual band, they have always worked with multiple artists and singers for different songs / albums. There isn't really a person behind each band member, 2-d / Murdoc / Russel / Noodle. By being unassociated with 1 artist, it allows the music to ever grow and ever change, while being held together by Damon the leader singer.

Saw this song on MTV when it first came out. I was just a little kid and that windmill scene just seemed almost magical. I know it sounds dumb but I was just wide eye in wonder at the time. The way the music hits and the visuals, it just struck a chord with me

As I ate, drank and breathed BLUR during the 1990's, the band Gorillaz-maker Damon Albarn had going then, (and I owned every album of which there were many), I would recommend Song 2 (for the banging tune), Girls & Boys for that 90's feel (oh sweet youth, where have you gone), and Coffee and TV (guitarist Graham Coxon is singing this one) for the cutest video,.ever.

Gorillaz is one of those things that you cannot fit into one genre. From punk, to rap, reggae, gospel, rock, blues, theres so many influences they pull from. Damon Albarn (who is the lead singer of Blur), is the musical mastermind of all of this. This "band", or rather musical project is an amazing thing to get into because it seems to never end. There are documentaries on each album, and you can see that Damon picks and chooses what musicians and artists he wants to work on the album. In one interview he said he wants Gorillaz to be that way, and surpass him when hes long gone. Its a project meant to be collaborative and huge. Damon and Jamie were inspired to do this because they were fed up with how manufactured music and MTV was at the time. So with this group, you are presented with cartoons, while wondering who the "real" people are. Its just such excellent commentary on the music industry as well. It never is JUST the artist you are seeing succeed. No one wonders about who else it is. Its everyone behind the scenes making it possible. I can write a whole essay on this i swear but i think i got enough out lol

I'm pretty old, so sometimes don't relate to "rap" - b/c a lot of it seems to be just beat & message.. without melody - but when I get a tune to go with that beat, I can really relate -- lol - that's why I also like Outkast - they got some melodies...

It’s so much fun to watch someone discover a group you love.

As everyone has said the creator and lead singer of Gorillaz Inc is Damon Albarn who was also the frontman of a group called Blur. My favourite Blur song is Song 2 and thoroughly recommend it, but "Coffee and TV", "Parklife" and "Girls and Boys" are some of their well know tracks.

Always loved this song. Great beat, great rap to it, and it brings to me the sense of longing for a more pure love after drowning in nothing but empty pleasures. At least, that's what the song means to me.

Off the album Demon Days you still got "Dirty Harry" for singles and I would recommend "All Alone" (Roots Manuva spittin bars on this is AMAZING!) and "All Alone" is a great make song to make you wanna move. On the album Gorillaz I'd love to see you do "Tomorrow Comes Today" or "Slow Country" they're both chill vibes to lean back and fire one up to or "Rock The House" for some more Del The Funky Homosapien

The pause was important for the tonal change between the high energy of the rap and the more somber part about windmills. It allows the listener a moment to unwind and not have that energy when going into the last part, so your energy gets built up for ending rap, without it you don't want to be coming down as the rap starts.
