It reminded me how Ewan McGregor would get in trouble on the set of Star Wars during filming because he did "Whoosh whoosh" sounds when he was using his lightsaber. They kept telling him not to because "We can see your lips moving and the sounds will be added in post" but he couldn't stop himself lol

I love how the stupid diarrhea joke is what makes Joel finally break... 😂 Btw, Joel turns TOWARDS Ellie when he's sleeping on his good ear, leading to his missing the intruders. This subtly alludes to a major theme in both games (especially Part 2) that Love = Vulnerability. 🤔

the only thing I remember about Kathleen, is that in the game there is a random dialog between the hunters talking about their boss lady, but then nothing. I'm so excited about learning more about this group.

Great episode, very faithful to the game, if you weren’t told yet, the raider with the huge grey beard was Tommy‘s voice actor from the games.

One of the things I thought the second game did better than the first was humanize the human opponents--give them motivation and names and relationships. the hunters in Pittsburgh/Kansas City were pretty much faceless opponents with no clear motivation. I love how Kathleen and Bryan did that here. That there are fewer deaths and they'e made to matter more in the TV show is something I really love.

When Ellie said what the coffee smelt like that is what she said from the second game

(mild game spoiler for anyone who hasn't played) . . . . . . . . . They do show that Ellie is affected by the violence in the game, but it's more subtle. Sometimes when you (Joel) kill an enemy, you can hear Ellie say things like "Jesus, Joel" or "Oh my god". She comments on the violence pretty often in the beginning, then starts to do it less over the course of the game which I think is a cool detail. I absolutely loved the way they showed that here though, and the way she tried to repress her emotions just like Joel

Whole series has been FANTASTIC so far. Glad we're seeing them implement things like the "enemy begging" mechanic (13:11) from TLOU2 and PS5 remake. Whether "Bryan" deserved his fate or not, it made the violence feel grounded and sickening, as it SHOULD be! 🤢

Kathleen wasn’t in the games. Her character was made specifically for the show. Also, I’m surprised you didn’t recognize Tommy’s voice.

Both of their walls are starting to fall 🤗 l love it. The banter is giving me major game feels. When Joel apologised to Ellie and she started to quickly wiping tears away it really caught me off guard 😭 Including the Pun Book could have been so cheesy but it worked so well. Joel's face looked like (to me) he was thinking 'ok, this is too close to home' and 'oh Christ, she's gonna tell me every joke in the book.' But that (classic) last joke... hearing Joel laugh 😆..🥹 Kathleen and her right hand man (game Tommy) are new characters. Neil D talked about wanting to humanise/flesh out the raiders/hunters. Hope the next episode is a long one 🤞 that's if there's a episode pattern (1 long, 2 short, 3 long, 4 short..) 🤞

Interesting run through. I haven't played the game. There are many of us who haven't and may never play it. So for people like us discussing future action is a bit of a spoiler and it may not happen anyway because they are deliberately varying from the game with expanding themes etc. that would not work in an rpg but fit in a video performance. Something I noticed is you thought you might see Tommy in this episode. Just a point about distances in the USA since you are from the U.K. Joel and Ellie have traveled from Boston to Kansas City a trip of 2303 km and they still have quite a way to go.

I’m surprised you guys aren’t preppers! U sure understand the way it would work if the SHTF. But… if you’re planning on staying in a secure location and staying away from others, I’d suggest starting a prep. I don’t have to go hog wild with it, but getting some basics needs and necessities ahead wouldnt hurt. Especially in the world we live in today. I’ve really really enjoyed watching your reactions to this series! Can’t wait to watch the rest!

I don’t remember a Kathleen in the notes but definitely some infighting especially around the truck. Great reaction guys. Ellie’s first real kill, pretty sure is gonna be soul crushing. Has to be who we think it is since that was always kinda left unsaid. Had to go down like that I’d assume.

The last episode had more to do with Joel's character than many realize. Even if you haven't seen him. Bill and Joel are both bitter and alone. However, the development of Bill clearly showed the differences, as one of them was willing to let a person into his life. As a result, despite the almost similar lifestyle at the beginning, Bill got a long full and happy life. Joel, on the other hand, is stuck. So yes, the episode was important and not just because of the farewell letter at the end. She showed that there is hope, even if Joel doesn't have one yet. This episode showed that people are important to be happy. We are usually herd animals. Kathleen's right hand with the beard is Tommy's voice actor in the game. As I understand it, Henry is responsible for her brother's death by betrayal. I guess he betrayed them because Fedra threatened Sam. I think Kathleen's brother was the leader of the resistance movement and she was probably the mom of the troops. That's the only reason I can imagine why the troupe follows her at all, so insecure and focused on revenge she seems. The bottom line is that she has absolutely understandable reasons. Just as good reasons as anyone else on the show and Joel wouldn't do anything else. Shows again that no group is good or bad.
