Ordered mine right at release last night. Can't wait! BTW: for people who order on Amazon DO NOT miss the promotion! If you add both the pastel set AND the Ohuhu fineliners with the promotion, it will take the price of the fineliners off at checkout and you get those FREE! I didn’t see the promotion when I first ordered, so I canceled my marker order and added it back with the promotion so I could get the fineliners free.
I have learned more from you than anyone else out there. My 12 year old has started watching your tutorials too. Thank you for your consistent presence and excellent teaching style.
Those are more saturated than the Copic pastels. I have the 0000 set and they are a kiss of color. I'm shocked at how much I need these super light colors. I won't be purchasing this set because I'm so deep in Copics already but pastels are extremely useful. You'll wonder how you did without them. Even the Copic 0000 line dry out quicker so, as Lindsay stated, that's normal for pastel colors. TFS Lindsay.
Yes!!! I just ordered mine!!! I’m so excited you have them and already have a video up of them aaahhhh!!! Your the BEST!! Your video WAS FIRST!!! By the way Amazon is offering the 8pk of liners as a bonus for free when you purchase both together! Discount applied at checkout !!
They are wonderful. I hope people see that there's a promotion on Amazon where you get a free set of their black liners with your pastel set purchase. Add both and the fine liner price will be taken off your final price. I'm such a fan of Ohuhu markers and these would be awesome. My limited experience with markers and painting is that paper is the first thing to change if the markers are not performing. It's interesting to see how much darker these markers can be, depending on paper. It would also be interesting to see a swatch on everyone's favorite card stock, Neenah Classic Crest, and also see some layering of same colors, but maybe you'll explore that in later videos. Lovely markers, lovely review. Thank you.
@@thefrugalcrafter And you probably did plenty of layering too! Leave it to you to cover all of my expectations. I'm looking forward to the coloring video with these! Thanks, Lindsay!
I absolutely love your reviews of markers. Thank you for thinking is so many things. The comparisons between comics and other cheaper brands are brilliant and I do appreciate that. Taking the time to see what colors are in the bigger sets is so helpful. Any new marker company or any company bringing out a new marker package would be completely dumb not to send you a set to review. Your reviews are so through and you explain things so clearly. Thank you for all you do. I made sure to grab my phone while watching and go on RU-vid to order from Your link so you get small credit for it. I feel like several if these companies are listening to your reviews and improving their products which is absolutely excellent. For any company listening, if you listen to Lindsey’s review and Improve your products based on her suggestions, I bet you will have a best seller right off the manufacturing line. You can’t lose listening to Lindsey’s suggestions and neither can we as consumers. Thanks again Lindsey for your time in making these reviews. I know it must take you so much longer by many times the length of the video we see. I hope you have a relaxing holiday break! (But hopefully you have a few videos ready to publish over winter break so we don’t go into withdrawal from your videos)
Thank you:) Ohuhu is great, they have actually pulled products when I pointed out a major flaw once. It shows integrity on their part. They believe in their products and sadly allot of companies just produce what they think will sell and don't care about quality
Just a quick FYI that the company named itself after the Hawaiian island of Oahu, so it's not pronounced Oh-Hu-Hu, it's actually pronounced Oh-Uh-Hu (Owahoo). For some reason, they went with a phonetic spelling and that's why so many people mess up their name.
"Rose's,a precious little jewel of life especially when touched by a little rose fairy."-Lynn These should be awesome and so many colors.Thank you Lindsay for sharing. 👍❤🎅🤶
5am here in NZ went online and the Ohuhu pastels are gone! Sigh, yep no shipping to me oh well will keep checking online and hopefully I will get a pak latter in the year. Thanks for the great look at these and I’m supper excited will definitely watch your Ohuhu colour in with the cute mouse. Loved watching thanks.
I love pinks and so many marker sets don't show the colors that I like. As I am just trying to learn to 'stay within the lines' so to speak, I haven't been doing blending, etc. yet, at least not much. But these markers are so pretty.
Your marker reviews are comprehensive; I am much better informed now. Just haven't quite made the decision to try markers yet; I am still learning watercolors :)
Love these colors!! Where can I find images that you showed like the girl with the flower? I’m not so into cutesy images but the vintage images are wonderful but seem hard to find that I can color
I saw a video where a crafter filled a dry ohuhu marker successfully with copic ink. It would be nice if ohuhu made their own ink we could use for our markers.
Omg I want them. The one thing I will say about Ohuhu, they aren't super consistent with what they ship. In my 48ct brush I didn't get the plastic sheet protector. (Not a huge deal). Then most recently I purchased their fine liners set and it was missing the .2 and instead I received two .3's. Anyways I wanted to thank you so much for your advice getting Arrtx skin tones! I absolutely love them. Do you have an email for subscribers? I'd love a professional's critique! Okay, now to watch this video 😂🤣
Hi Lindsay, I voted for art supplies reviews and painting and drawing time-lapse. Beautiful colors! How many markers, where did you find?their prices? ! Lucky you! 💯💯💯🥰🥰
FYI - there already is a Buttercup Yellow (Y145) that comes in the 24 skin tone set and there is one in this pastel set as well - although with a different number. Did you see that they have a 36 skin tone set out as well?! There are 10 additional colours in those that are not in the original 24 skin tone set nor in the 120 set (am talking brush set of course). I just ordered this morning as I really do need to have ALL the colours! lol
I don't have any Ohuhu markers (wish I did) but I like hearing about a company that listens to the customers and works hard to provide the products they want and need. I hope other companies take note! Ohuhu made markers during a time when markers became a very popular medium and Ohuhu realized that crafters and artists needed a cheaper option than Copics or Spectrum Noirs. I actually hate my complete set of Spectrum Noirs but I'm stuck with them.
I had issues with my older spectrum noirs drying out so I added denatured alcohol to them. If your nibs fee scratchy you can use a mix of denatured alcohol and glycerin and it will make the ink more slippery. I notice a dryness to their inks and I think that's why. Try it on one marker and see what you think (maybe your least fave color incase it dosnt help) but it might make it more pleasurable to color with.
Edit: yep found my answer in the video. Thank you so much comparing both sets. Are these colors included in the 200 set? Obviously not in brush tip form. I know it’s kind of hard to compare. And they do look much lighter. Just curious before I decide on which one to purchase. Of course this may be answered in the video. I’m watching it right now. 💜 lovely review by the way. 💜
Some shades looked similar, there are quite a few pastels in the 200 set. They are less per marker in that set with the chisel/bullet tip so it depends on the tips you want.
Good review. I have the water based Ohuhu markers and I don't care for them at all. I have been skeptical of that brand, so I'm glad to hear some good stuff about this brand.
Which ones, the felt tip or real brush? Thir first real brush markers were slow to flow but the new ones are nice. I never used the felt tip much but they worked fine when I used them. Not sure how they hold up after lots of use. Paper is key tho, smooth watercolor paper or Bristol is best or you will get pilling.
@@thefrugalcrafter brush and fine point. They had no color names or numbers, and many of them are so close to being the same color. I think I will pit a number on each one and then swatch them. And no real red! Live and learn. I guess
Thanks for the review. I have the Honolulu 48 set and feel I need some lighter colors. Should I get the pastels or do they sell another set of light colors? Thank you.
These would work well with the 48 set you have, you would not have overlap. The 200 set of bullet/chisel has a lot of pastel tones too so it just really depends on what you want. I'll say that having light colors with a brush nib helps a lot in blending.
I just ordered the 72 regular set of brush/chisels combo . I will definitely get this set, too. Where did you get the "house mouse and fairy stamps"? I love them! Once again, thanks , Lindsay, for your reviews and expertise. You have helped me so much!
They are really old, I got the house mouse at a yard sale (stamps rosa was the company but I think stampendous currently has the licence for house mouse) and the flower fairies were from crafters companion about 8 years ago.
Those look really really nice. I don't have any Ohuhus yet and I'm usually pretty happy with my hodgepodge of cheap store-bought markers, but those - like so many other ranges - definitely lack light colours ^^' So really really REALLY tempted to buy them, I'll probably just put them on my "buy-after-Christmas" wishlist ;)
I just spotted the 120 set of brush/fine tip on Amazon Canada yesterday for $134.00, I was very disappointed I purchased the 120 brush/chiseled tip and paid $114.00 2 days prior to them releasing then 😢😕😞😀
Thank you again for great review and showing the blending. I was thinking of getting the full 200 set of this markers on Amazon, I wonder if this pastel markers are going to be included? Happy Holidays Everyone.
Some, not all, are similar but the color numbers are different. I do wish they used consistancy numbering between both lines. I did compare the swatches if you want to pause the video and see.
Love the pastels the brush is brilliant for me, i have been looking at Ohuhu 168 set £113 pp free. I dont know what to do buy or not, the only brush markers I have are my 48 pastels. HELP
@@thefrugalcrafter you just gotta change the option selected from “chisel/brush” to “fine/brush” when getting the 120 set ....I can post the link if you’d like :-)
I haven't even used them yet so I was gonna return them to Amazon and rebuy the 120 set of brush/fine nub and just pay the extra $20 difference. According to Amazon returns they will not alone you to ship back anything flammable. That might make sence if they didn't ship it via mail to me so obviously shipping them wasn't a problem last week. 8m going to call tomorrow and hope for a better result
WOW, they are already sold out on the American Amazon (and haven't even made it to the Canadian Amazon yet!). Guess I'll be waiting on these until after Christmas, lol.
I ordered mine by clicking the “buy on Amazon” button on the Ohuhu page and Amazon is running a special where you get the 8pack of fine liners free for purchasing both at the same time they discount the price of the fine liners split between the two items totaling $10 off making is about $45 for both sets. I’m sure they WILL sell out but I was able to buy it still even just a few mins ago now...
@@lunakat5763 agreed! You can either get just the 48pastel set for $39.99 currently for the next 3 days on sale for the first release i assume, or order through Amazon and get the liners free but pay full price for the markers. Both are good deals in my book it all comes down to what you really need.
@@dianethoroughman9541 - Yep. Said "currently unavailable." (Just checked again, still says that.) Then I checked Amazon.ca (since I'm Canadian, I avoid the American Amazon as much as possible because of shipping times) and they aren't out in Canada yet. Wasn't really surprised because they are so new, though. I'm wondering if the fact that it appears unavailable IS because I'm in Canada; but usually it would say "does not ship to Canada," NOT "currently unavailable" (which I've never seen mean anything but "out of stock" before). I was unaware they had a website that you could buy directly of off until I saw MrG. Nibs' comment, but Canada is not on the list of countries they ship to! That really might be the issue at the moment. I'm not too concerned though, I JUST got the 120 set. I'm sure they'll be out on Amazon.ca in not too long.
I think any alcohol markers will bleed through an adult coloring book. I also think I'd want a bullet tip for those. I think I'd go with arrtx alp for adult coloring books because the ink flows slower and has small, hard nibs.
Darn the pastel is the one I just ordered and they are my first set. I figured I could get comfy with them then add bolder colors once I was more comfortable.
You can do that, but if you have any sharpies or other permanent markers kicking around they might be handy for darker tones. Luckily the darker tones are easy to come by at any craft store or department store.
