Do your research - Despite everything you here in the press unfairly singling out Range Rover thefts (don't get me wrong, they are indeed one of the many manufacturers using the same inadequate security technology), do you realise that they are NOT BY A LONG WAY the most stolen car in Britain? Please do your research before spreading unfairly targeted and consequentially misleading information. I will give you a head start for your research though - it is a Ford.
Is the whole Range Rover massive hike in insurance thing a way of getting 'Chelsea Tractors' out of the way for 'Net Zero' purposes? Wouldn't surprise me.
My 20year old Land Rover discovery shot up from £320 to £660 this year. I changed my insurance company and got it down to £520. Yet another big con going on obviously.
Our daughter and son in law’s insurance doubled this month. They drive a 15 year old Renault capture, have had no claims etc…but it jumped from £300 to £600 on their policy. Are we being fleeced for these bloody expensive EV cars, because the insurance companies are trying to spread the exorbitant claims for these or is it the government who are trying to price everyone off the bloody road?
Government borrow money from insurance companies. Also vat is on your policy. The more you are charged.the more tax government receive. So government happy to see policies rise.Work it out for yourself.
Why does car insurance rise every year when your car depreciates every year if you buy a new car and it's stolen the same day it's very often valued way below the showroom price just because its now classed as second hand the insurance companies appear to be fraudulent I think we want a Mr bates and the post office type program on insurance companies
I'm sure that the Insurance Companies will argue that their renewal quotes automatically take account of your car's annual depreciation. (This of course is BS as they will charge as much as they think they can get away with). I'm sure that they would further argue BS that without this automatic mechanism your renewal quote would be even higher.
The damage that you can cause in a car accident now costs more to fix, the hire cars cost more & repairing the car costs more. It isn’t just the value of your car.
Last year I had social feed from Essex police pop up. I live in Norfolk, so I was a bit miffed, I was also miffed at the fact it was targeting social media and stating they weren't excepting attacks on parking machines and were taking it seriously. My reply was this "I've just checked you crime statistics, I think you shouldn't be on social media lecturing anyone about parking machines". A week later another cop post only this time I replied " to the officer who wrote this post. Personally, yourself, think about the wasted time posting this post and think to yourself"should I be outside stopping crime or agitating people online"? Do you think it's a good idea to waste resources on this post or do you think you should be doing your job?".
teams come into uk do two weeks then move home - then do it again all over europe friend holiday camper van they used gas into the van / stole everything except the van including wifes car / nice holiday bordeaux ..
@mightywatcher5894 I'm with what is supposed to be a reputable car insurance company. Same with the home insurance they don't pay out either. I've known many people getting frustrated because their insurance isn't paying out. The insurance is happy to Heverly increase the cost of your insurance. But not very keen on paying out. another cash grab
Our insurance has gone up stupid this year. Thought it might be due to age (over 60) but on reflection, I wonder if it's because of the EVs. Insurance companies trying to make EV insurance affordable so jack everyone's insurance up to cover the cost.
Not just BCA!!! My car was damaged on Wednesday 31st Jan and recovered to a temporary storage yard, and later that day, the insurance company told me that it was beyond economical repair and sent instructions what to do with the V5 document. I wasn't able to find the V5 until the weekend, but when I tried to fill-in the necessary 'Change Of Ownership' section, I wasn't able to - because someone else had already done it! Then I tried to transfer my private reg plate, and found that they had done that too! Not only that - DVLA accused me of fraud and sent me loads of paperwork to try and prove everything. I later found out that the car was collected by an auction company the day after the car was damaged, and sold at auction the following day! How did they manage that when I still had the only copy of the V5???
They buyer sends of a form something 63, (cannot recall the exact name)to the dvla as it a Cat right off, category S, means only structure damage and they receive a new V5 at no cost.If I was younger that the game to be in, buying these cars with a small amount damage and reselling them, after a wee prep. Not like the days when you got car repaired and sent in garage receipt for your refund.New cars have so many electrical components, they just scrap them. My insurance on my 16 Yr old Saab went up £ 450 last month with all no claims. We paying the price...
Sadly the big sporty Range Rovers are a very desirable car. They get stolen because of that. The insurers base their cost on the perceived risk of carrying the insurance.
You're right, car insurance prices have gone crazy. Makes me wonder if insurance companies are transferring the excess money collected to their life insurance sections who have had a 92% increase in claims since 2021.💉💉💉💉💉
@@valentinzota8835 bro man's not complaining. I'm messaging you from a private island in the Philippines. I was based in Ilford east London. Had the right links from dvla to equipment for opening any vehicle and starting. Was go go gadget all the way bro
They love helping them self's to our bank accounts, same with electric. When they wheel out cbdc they will help them self and disable the car, the kill switch they talk about lol
As any sensible person would have declared to DVLA they no longer owned the vehicle as soon as it left their possession. Doing this online will make it immediate. It would null, and void any claim made against themfrom that time onwards.
However. We have imported a shed load of illegal criminal scxm, if the problem seems centred around an auction house, it does not take 5 mins for some arse wipe to get the plate of a car in mid sale (between ownership) and drive around with that number on a similar car for weeks. . The old owner will not know, the new owner will not either.. for months.. Just. follow. the . evidence.
My wife’s 2019 Evoque was £480 this time last year. This week she was quoted £1,680 by the same company. The company also told her that they are reviewing their policies and may not even insure any JKR products from next month ( March ) onwards. Crazy
It doesn’t matter what age you are 18,20,40.,60 80 car insurance is going to be one of those bills that will never give you respite. I’m 45 I I never had a decent insurance quote but I’m forced to pay it. The question you asked is what if you can’t pay it answer 15min city something that we all don’t agree with. We are slowly been controlled our freedom being taken away without us actually knowing until it’s to late
A friend had exactly the same. Traded old car in and it went to auction. A good few weeks later speeding ticket came through post. Took long time to sort out.
I have a 2006 ford fiesta I had an insurance for a 3 year period that didn't change when that period was up it went from £370 to £800 per year what a shock that was
My Insurance went up 43% ( no changes) I thought the company was hiking, it hoping people just pay it. I called the company they said they could not do it any lower, I rang around and got similiar quotes. Why the massive hike ?.
Same with me. Each year I call up my insurance company and question their usually much higher quote. Always used to end up getting the policy back down to a realistic premium and even sometimes lower. Last time would not budge, increase of about 40%. I’m wondering what it’s likely to be next renewal 😠
Probably because they are a Cartel. Once you're in one company's computer, you are in them all. When you ask for a quote from another company, it comes up, what you have already been quoted from your own company. More corruption, at its best.
Quite strangely, my wife's renewal came in for her Audi Q3, about 10% LOWER than last years price. No change in NCB, use, overnight parking, or anything else.
If the plan is to price us out of our cars and the insurance companies are complicit, it does beg the question ‘why?’ Surely the insurance companies will go out of business eventually!? 🤔
I’m pretty sure I can tell you exactly what’s going on with the car auctions. Firstly there’s so many Range Rovers being stolen isn’t it one every 2 minutes. The scumbags need legal plates. If they copy local plates you may see them. You may be contacted quickly over parking toll or ulez. You’d inform the police there’s a cloned plate on a car same has yours. But if a scrote took reg details from an auction. Previous owners will say I sold it. ( so police won’t think there’s anything wrong) new owners will blame previous owners. They both blame the auction agent. And all the time it wasn’t even that car. By the time it’s all been worked out. The car has either gone to Eastern Europe or been stripped for parts. And they’ll just go to the auction and pick a new reg. Free driving they’ll steal your car and khan will try to make you pay these scumbags fines. Because he knows the thieves certainly won’t.
I don't miss paying my Hire and reward car insurance, had a operators licence ,had 15 years no claims bonus back in 2019 cost £1,450 after shopping around.....the best bit it when you cancel halfway through your policy, I was £420 in credit on my policy ,with early cancellation fees £100....then they come back and tell you,you owe them money. So glad I am out that game....everyone fleeces you and leaves you with little profit. So you have to put more hours in to make it worthwhile.
Hi Andy, just a point in insurance. I’ve been in private hire for a long time and have 15 years NCD from my insurance company. Last year the premium was under £1,100, but the new premium, due next week, is £1,901. No explanation, except that my age is a factor. I’m now 76, with an impeccable driving record, as my NCD shows. My contract work makes it worthwhile, or they did, but this will be my last year. Bloody gangsters, the lot of them.
Esure sent me my renewal last November, it had more than doubled. I told them to ram it.. I’m now with Tesco and I have more cover and it’s cheaper. It asked if I had a Club card, so I pumped in the number and it was reduced by £249.. I now pay less than last year lol.. Every little did help..
My home insurance with Swinton more than doubled ,7 years no claims ,went online got it 60% less than the previous year, never accept auto renew , don't use broker ,they charge £35 on top,go online much cheaper,if they increase after a year move on ,loyalty means NOTHING.
I've just renewed the insurance on my 19 year old Volvo XC 90. It went up from £411 last year to £440 this year. I can only claim for 7 years NCB even though the only accident I've had in over 40 years was the other driver jumping a stop sign.
@Simonsimon-fy3hq Never said "road" rage. It was Rage Rover... And it's the cars fault because the car is the object directly causing the rage by existing in someones life and needing insured, maintained, protected from theft, etc....
If you phone the b’stards they’ll blame a computer generated quote or blame the brokers , you’ll often get it down to what it was before , not all the time but some of the time. Problem is trying to get the reps to pick up the phone ( deliberately don’t pick it up so you get peed off and hang up )
Just renewed mine on the 29tn of Feb. Went up by 57% to just over £700 for the year. I did a LOT of shopping about and that was the cheapest that fitted my needs… I’m 43 in a few days, maximum NCD’d, no claims (ever) live in the Cotswolds where there is hardly any crime (only about 500 in the village) I’ve tried hard to work the justification for that much of an increase considering I’ve got an extra years driving experience and another year I’ve not claimed for so much as a windscreen but I’m struggling to add it up.
I scraped a parked car. The corner had a scratch on it. They arranged for it to be sprayed at a garage and the garage kept it for a Month! Their insurance provided a courtesy car at £179 per day! for the whole Month. No wonder premiums are going through the roof
Chatting to a cabble in london. He says basically hybrid or 100% electric are breaking this service..Like he said, who will wait while the cabs charged up for 30-40 mins.. The idea of a cab is to arrive pronto not bring a picnic for journey... A proper London black cabbie driver that was.
Why isn’t the government looking into the cost of insurance? I had two quotes from Aviva for the same car - a Citroen C5x. One was from Aviva UK and the other from Aviva France. I had recently moved back to the UK, but had lived in France for 20 years. In the UK with full NCB applied, the quote was £765.00 The Aviva quote from my insurance broker inFrance which included Europe wide breakdown and homestart was €465. The insurance broker in the UK stated that they are currently refusing to insure Tesla’s and Range Rovers.
Who do you think are driving up the rates in the first place? The government don't want us driving anything. They have stated this. The insurers are happy to go alone with it because they make a lot more money.
The government won’t oppose it, because they have Aviva and other insurance company shares in their portfolio. Don’t bite the hand that feeds them, eh? Scumbags....
My Mitsubishi Pajero was 1,100 gbp to insure in the UK through one of the motoring organisations. When I took it to Spain in 2007, I got a quote from a Gibraltar based insurer for €450 , then got a call from ‘Linea Directa’, (Direct Line) in Spain and got fully comprehensive coverage for €330. The UK insurance industry is just another example of rip off Britain.
That's just crazy. I would have thought a 125 cc machine insurance would have been no more than a few hundred pounds at most. When I learned to rise on my s/h CB250N in the 70's I was paying 25 pounds a year, and that was TPFT with ZERO no claims bonus!
I was with Direct Line Insurance for 8 years, but in November they demanded 60% more. I don't know why - I 've had no accidents or convictions, but I am over 70 now, so maybe it's an age issue. I finally got a deal with Swinton, actually for less than I paid last year.
I got a quote and decided not to renew my insurance and put my car off road. My insurance company badgered me for weeks. Eventually they backed down and give me pretty much the same insurance as last year. Clearly losing a customer was not an option.....
Andy mate. My ins went up by fifty percent .after a none fault claim .I was not in the car when it happend??? And was.told it would not affect insurance .???? When I ask about the rise on my ins .this is what they said every one's ins has gone up..??? I suspect that it has something to do with all the E v s . Bursting Into flames... They have to cover the costs somehow.. out of curiosity have you checked to see how much your home insurance is going up by .????
My insurance is up for renewal at end of Feb , just got my renewal quote last week from company I’ve been with for 15 years and it’s £ 92 cheaper than last year... happy days 👍
I would like to point out that it's the registered keeper's responsibility to inform the DVLA that they are no longer the registered keeper of the vehicle ( remember the registered keeper is not necessarily the owner but is liable for tax insurance and fines etc) You are to immediately inform DVLA as soon as you sell or hand back a vehicle on finance. This can be done online with DVLA and although it can take up to 4 days to update the register the time and date are logged instantly If anything happens in-between the update period you are not not responsible from the actual time and date the change was notified to DVLA. So, get it done before the car leaves your driveway or property, preferably before you hand over the keys.
But by law, you have to be insured in the UK, to drive a vehicle but you dare not claim on your insurance. Because it will go up even further, so what is the bloody point? A lot of times if you have a little bump , a lot of times if you have a little bump, it is cheaper to pay out your pocket 🏴
Range Rovers are getting stolen all the time and at the silly prices these cars cost that's why every body is paying higher insurance premiums to cover the cost. My classic car. Insurance went up by 10 euros this year and that put it up to 155 euros😂 You are getting screwed in the UK by insurance companies.
That happened to me when I PX my van I got done parking in a hotel car park in Nottingham over 180 miles from my house. I have to appeal to parking company and show I did not own the van anymore
If car insurance companies continue to price us out of owning a car then surely they will be killing the golden goose! Less customers means less business less business less profits…..
and everyone in the leisure industry: camping/caravan sites, retailers, hotels, BnBs etc. They are all watching the golden goose die. Pick your preferred destination in the UK and check out the journey by public transport. Crazy time and cost.
It’s about time people realised that insurance companies in the uk rip you off year on year. They use what ever reason 5hey can to put the insurance up. Take a look back in time, first it was some cars you can use any key to get in them, then it was an immobilise was needed, then key fob, then the area of the country, then post codes, the vehicle type, and then a persons age, now keyless or Ev. Each time the insurance has gone up in the uk, but funny enough not with the same insurance companies subsidies in Europe their insurance has stayed the same. It’s only in the uk that the insurance has gone up. Why because the insurance company are basically a rule to themselves and do as they like in the uk when it comes to price. Some years ago a German mep did an experiment with to male drivers who passed their test on the same day, same age, one lives in Germany the other in the uk. So the male in Germany goes into a Mercedes dealership an buys a vehicle uses an insurance company that is available in the uk. He drives out with the new car on the day. The British male goes to a Mercedes dealership in the uk, can buy the vehicle same model as the one in Germany, but cannot get any insurance what so ever. When the insurance company was questioned by the mep they didn’t have an answer. The mep stated that insurance in the uk was a con on price and victimised people in a number of ways. Why can’t insurance be on the vehicle and not on a person to drive the vehicle? Other countries have vehicle insurance on the vehicle only. So why can’t the uk? The other issue is the uk is an island so the only way to get a vehicle out of the uk is via a port, by ferry or shipping containers, why are these not policed better to stop stolen vehicles leaving the uk. As it has been going on for a good 50 years, yet nothing has been done to cut down stolen vehicles leaving the uk. If insurance companies wanted the costs to come down for policy’s etc.. then they would work with the police to make it next to impossible to get a vehicle out of the uk. The other issue is that insurance companies are to quick to write off a vehicle over a simple repair which would be much cheaper than writing off the vehicle. They should also stop using manufacturers main parts on all repairs when repairing a vehicle, as these parts are available from other places at half to third of the main dealer price. An when a person has a crash or vehicle stolen it should be them that pays a higher premium on the next vehicle, not every one else. After all it’s not the fault of everyone else that a person crashed in to another or someone didn’t secure their vehicle correctly so it got stolen. Yet everyone is paying the price for that. Insurance should be a fixed price, in line with the cost of the vehicle. Not like it is now which is a big con.
Makes you wonder if the insurance is going up to cover these stupid electric vehicles . I think the government needs to look into this. I don’t think combustion engines should be paying the insurance for electric vehicles. I think they should have a completely different company dealing with split the insurance companies.
Andy I had to give up a car I owned many years ago due to suddenly being out of work through I'll health (OK now) but after the car was put on a low lowder and taken away and the paperwork sent off I thought no more about it. Six months later I got a speeding fine and quite a heafty one at that plus 6 points on my licence. If it wasn't for the fact that at the same time of my so called speeding I was also on a speed awareness course in my home on my computer I would have found it very difficult to prove that it wasn't me. The driver who was at fault was fined and from what I gather was lucky that he didn't get a custodial sentence but he was sacked. DVLA sorted everything out thankfully😊 this happened many years ago and I've had a clean licence for many many years now 😀 the last car I got rid of a few months ago now I gave the paperwork to the company that bought my car plus filled out the transfer form online the same day and recently received notification from the DVLA of vehicle not mine anymore slip of paper. This time all ended well with the day I got rid of my car I was sent a bus pass😊what great timing. Great programme as always Andy. Ps. Passed my driving test first time in 1984 at 30 years of age and now at nearly 70 years of age I leave the driving to the bus or someone els to do😅no more prospective fines to worry about 😅😊
I have my cars battery wired to the door handles, that'll take the frost off ya. I have the radiator vented directly into the driver's seat for easier parboiling of any perp. I just have to remember to disassemble this before going to work in the morning.
A friend had his son move in with him. Like most kids he had a few tickets no doubt. My friend was contacted by his insurance company who put him on what is called facility in Canada. They would reinstate his insurance at a yearly rate of $10,000.00. When asked why he was told if his son moved out, it would return to the regular rate. My friend sold his carand now takes transit to work. Tge oney he saves pays for the Cadillac he rents on weekends...he's never been happier...
Range rovers especially Velar are doing own insurance now....EV cars suffer terrible depreciation, v expensive repairs, unreliable, if side impacted in a crash are written off, plus have to be stored separately for fire hazard. We all are paying for this EV failing experiment.😮
You can see by the uptick in folks' impatient/dozy driving style there's likely to be an uptick in bumps this coming year. And ofc the insurers have seen an uptick in deaths (many sudden, so conceivably could result in out-of-control high speed vehicles) which _are_ explained by science (but doctors are told to keep stumm ...baffled)
The insurance companies want more money to cover the excessive insurance claims made by all the electric cars to put back profits for share holders. Nothing to do with ncb or age. Just shop about there are insurances cheaper then your quote.
If a BCA driver picked the car up then it is recorded on an app. They will have full details of collection and delivery. The guy should ask for these, which will help him prove he was no longer in possession of the vehicle. There is a concentrated scheme to get us off the roads, I live in Wales, driving is a nightmare at times. The idea is to make it as unpleasant and expensive as possible, then we will give in to their 15min city concept. Basytards
A particular problem with Jaguar Land Rover. Service parts availability is becoming a real issue, such that major servicing might become difficult, especially for higher mileage users.
Let's not forget the Elephant in the room here and that is the enormous number of Cultural Enricher's driving around with no full licence and crashing into everyone else's vehicles pushing the premiums sky high
It’s not just cars my 2003 Honda was 360 fully comp max no clamps , 12k a year driving to and from plus social this year just fire 1290 quid zero points it’s a deliberate attempt to push older vehicles off the road
I have been driving for nearly 50 years and last year my premium shot up by £500 more and my old insurance provider of many years would not consider me again even though there was absolutely no reason
