Your THOW is so beautiful. I especially admire how you paid close attention on how to make your son's space feel so comfortable to him. Christian is on another level with his receding step and sausage grillers as drying racks and paper-towel holder! Alexis, your soft handed design makes this home rival the beauty of any dream home.

UPDATE COMMENT* last year I come across you and Jenna along with Tumbleweed and told my 34 year old homeless son about you all! I told him about the idea of a HOME and not a camper being warmer in our NWestern Montana winters (last year he stayed in one) He got himself a destroyed camper he stripped for the 2 axle trailer and saved what he could reuse ! Hopefully He will start his new Journey * soon ! Thank you all !!!!

i LOVE how beautifully most tiny houses are STAGED ... but! i have to say that it is VERY refreshing to see how people actually live in these beautiful tiny houses! very nice!!!

Love her sons' room! most tiny house kids just have a little bunk put in the wall but he seems to have a legitimate space he can personalize. the "pulley system" is adorable!
Do you have any videos with older folks? It seems like a lot of tiny/mobile homes and campers have only been occupied for as long as they have taken to build. How long has the tiny house ideal been around? Any long-term success stories?
I would love to know how a tiny home is built to withstand a lot of travel. My understanding was that most of them are built so they can't be moved toooo much (unlike RVs and such). Any place you can point me to learn more about this?
No! Thumbs down- That poor child. People can live “tiny” but his space is not “tiny” it’s minuscule, as in unlivable, cramped, not enough space. It doesn’t allow him privacy either. No room at all, it’s a cubby space. No amount of happy music in the background or smiling faces can erase the fact thus isn’t good for him. He deserves more. Don’t care if this is part time, it’s not good for him. He needs more space.

I love the idea of towing with a uhaul although I do wonder if it wouldn't be better to buy a truck in the long term?... my question is when they move what do they use for local transport as it stands?
uhauls all depend on where you are going, how far etc... MPG is poor but they would be in anything that size... I've spent $400 to go from FL to MI and then the return trip 6 months later was 2x that (been a few years)... in that case the price was cheap going up because a lot of people where moving FROM MI, on the other side a lot where moving TO FL... but ya few hundred each time you move all adds up especially when you're talking 30k miles...

Definitely a great DIY tow option for the majority of tiny housers who only move their house 1-3 times; more affordable than buying a truck. We use the truck to get around town when we're parked, or sometimes we able to get a UHaul pickup.
thanks for getting with us and I'm excited just to be able to see your video... the uhaul being a sponsor makes a lot of sense... a box truck it seems would be a great idea... could toss a few mopeds in there for more local transport if/when needed if you are closer to larger cities where a big truck wouldn't be ideal transport :( also could set it up as a spare hang out spot (they mount hammocks nicely ;-), carry tools... and a load of bicycles :)

Widcat that's actually great and gives you time to build. Then you can think of what would be good for two people. If you don't meet her before decide to go. You may find someone who shares your dream when you stop at a tiny show!
All good but the son ? The young child living in such a tiny house with the new "father" I don"t know if it will be good for his emotional health. Too many transitions at once and at his age (puberty coming up soon) things will be tough. I would feel awfully restricted and horrible, probably scarred for life, if I were in his place and my divorced mother found a new man and decided to take off on an expedition with him and I had no choice but to join them and I was forced to live with them in such a small space with all the issues ensuing from that (intimacy e.g.) It would be traumatizing for many children. First losing their biological father and perhaps feeling a bit rejected and abandoned and then this...Too much in my opinion.
Did we watch the same video? They mentioned he was in second grade when they moved into the tiny house not recently. Also, it's not uncommon for kids of divorce to move in with their new stepparents and they manage just fine. They also said he lives there "part time" which presumably means he is with his biological father the rest of the time given his parents divorced.
Omg no one asked for your opinions!! I'm sure he's loving it!! He sleeps there and lounges in the living area and has the whole outdoors!!! No different than camping! My kids love road trips that include our camper and they don't have that much space like Garrett does. Get a grip! Nothing pleasant to say than say nothing!!
