Welcome to Yet another episode of ‘Zeos loves everything’. But based on my limited research on the internet, Everyone seems to love everything about this product. Well done Thieaudio.
My Thieaudio Ghost arrived a few days ago. So far, I have to say that these deserve every bit of praise you gave them! Wow. I have not tried the Meze pads yet (still on preorder). The last headphone that impressed me this quickly was the Sony CD900st. Thank you, Zeos!
Hey Zeos, love your vids. You're the reason I got into audio. My first recommendation of yours was the Audio Technica MTH-40X with the cowhide pads from ZMF. Very recently got my T4 Plus and Blon B50's. Hoping to add this as the 7th recommendation of yours that I have bought Edit: Boom just ordered it

Ghost vs NTH-100? I know they are different classes, but this week i just found out that Rode offers life time warranty for the locking system part, so i heavily considered them.
Ghost or better Athena? :O I'm Iem guy mostly but this looking very interesting :D does they sound the same on a dongle dac? because than i should buy a better dac/amp :'D
The hype is real. These are good even forgetting the price. They fit my head like a glove--light and comfortable. They look nice and they're well built. Vocals are crystal clear. Sound stage is nice. The bass is nicely textured. The treble is not too hot. It's very, very, enjoyable and a winner. Oh, and they don't leak sound too bad--more like a semi-open. I can sit next to my wife (6ft.) while she's watching TV and not drive her crazy with my music. Thank you Zeos.
Jesus Christ Zeos, you almost made me bought these. But I looked at my left and remembered I have 560S and Edition XS. You have unironically, the most contagious energy for buying unnecessary audio equipment XD Not this time, gonna save for Meze 109 Pro
Mine arrived today. perfect fit. perfect sound. I'm using a FIIO K5 Pro on medium gain. The cable is strangely great. Imaging is great. Pads work well enough for me. Satisfied for my budget.
Thanks Zeos! I am getting them. I have done this so many times after watching your channel and do not ever regret it! Keep up these finds! I still rock my Phillips Fidellio cans you recommended years ago, love them! I can not afford Meze 109's but do have the Meze classics to get me by. Keep doing what your doing.
Not to be a buzz kill, but i'd look at other YT reviews on these before buying them....the other reviewers aren't gushing over 'em nearly as much as Zeos is.
I was daily driving 109 for almost two month , it definitely sounds better than my clear mg and Arya stealth . And this time I don't want to believe this ghost thing can really compete with it.
@@ZReviews Anyway Z, I recently bought ADX5000 and I agree with you about it, they scale really good and show me exactly what is well recorded. Not coloring just the truth
Update 2, I bought the 109 pros to compare. The ghost are SCARY close to the 109's. I still prefer the 109's though. Hopefully this is my endgame for a little while 🤣
Thanks for the introduction to this technology and your honest opinion. Always appreciate your time and effort to help us get the best audio equipment.
Well, I impulse ordered a pair of these based on this review. $160 with shipping. Hope they don't turn out to have quality control or reliability issues!
I'm greatly thankful for this recommendation. Got mine today. They truly are unbelievably good at this price point. Edit: You MUST cut the fabric, it muffles the sound so much. I just did, now they're even better. Bass is way cleaner, highs are crazy crisp. It makes the soundstage a bit wider as well.
@@bootysalad i've carefully cut it out with nail scissors. I tried to cut as much so that the rest of the fabric is below the cushioning. Be carefull not to cut into the cushioning.
Thanks for the show recommendation. If this is like the 109 then I'll probably get it at some point just to see if the 109 is worth saving for. And I'm Italian and talk with my hands too lol. I'm assuming some people are mistaking your increase in hand movements as clowning around when you're really showing excitement non verbally. I've accidentally hit people because I get so animated lol.
I've had these for about a month now and I got the 109 pads in the mail finally last week. Before that I just had cut out the foam in the center. I do think the 109 pads improve the sound further beyond exposing the driver with the stock pads. It seems to firm up the bass a lot. They're a warmer/darker sounding headphone which is my style anyway so I'm having a great time with them. Also the 109 pads are very comfortable.
Thanks for the update. I'm glad at least someone is getting those 109 pads. Still waiting on mine. Idk why Mimic took the page down. A "sold out" status would have worked. Taking the page down just leaves people who have already bought wondering if they should continue waiting or seek a refund. What you describe certainly sounds worth the wait, though.
FYI, I cut the foam out of my ghost's pads and it made a pretty significant difference IMO. Just putting that out there for anyone curious. fold over the leather flap if you do it and carefully cut close to the pad and you'll even be able to put them back in if you want to.
@@bendover7988 there is a flap that holds the pad to the headphones that you need to flip the opposite direction so you don't cut it. Maybe it is better to say that you need to roll it onto the pad so that it's out of the way.
I'm just glad i stopped being angry about spent money years before i got the 109s^^ You just bought something when a new product comes out for a fraction of the price you paid and 99% of the same specs as the product you bought. It's simply a universal law ;) Thanks for the info though, Zeos🤣 - this might become a cheap alternative to wear outside the house.
Funny how this works. I got mine the other day and ended up returning it because while dynamic and capable, the vocals had a tinny, harsh quality to them. So while the sound had good body and slam, it sinultaneously sounded a bit harsh and tinny in the upper range. Certainly not the smoothness I was expecting. Quite the contrary, at an aggressive and dynamic sound. I wonder if perhaps there is some QC issues still, since the reviews of the Ghost are not very uniform across reviewers.
For what it's worth, I bought the Maze pads and found that I prefer the original ones way more. Vocals are more forward sounding with the original pads to my aging ears. Very nice headphones in any event.
Brainwavz oval, oval hybrid, etc….the whole oval family will work with these. Rotate the pads as you are putting them on, 5 mins, and yes, quite a change in sound. The brainwavz mesh over the drivers is much thinner than stock ones. Cheers, and thanks for the review here, really enjoy these more without the financial bite!
I am starting to believe all these chi-fi companies are all owned by one company. It's like the past few months., every chi-fi IEM maker all come out with a new first-ever headphone outta no where--from Moondrop to Thieaudio. Then months back, several companies had planar IEMs all at the same time outta nowhere like it was planned out. Even most of chi-fi dap companies come out with similar spec'd units around the same times as well. This prolly isn't a coincidence
I've just bought the ifi air can and use it with my sennheiser hd535 headphones, these seem like the ideal replacement as they'd have to fly under the wife's radar
The cables that come with it are like antennae for noise. Hart cables had mini right hand cables that fixed the problem with the stock cables rubbing on your shoulders. The color of the connectors matches the gold accent ring. I got the Meze ear pads. My ears don't touch the plastic face now and it does seem to sound better. Watch a meze pad installation video. I used a burnishing tool to stretch the edge around. On Tull, Too old to Rock and Roll Remaster, the detail and dynamics were impressive.
Thank "Z" for helping me choose the very first budget friendly Good Headphone that I'll be buying, cause I'm constantly reading and watching tons of reviews for a month now between Audio Technica M series, Sennheiser hd400s and Philips shp9600 that you previously reviewed. I mean Thank you so much mate...... 😂
Impulse buy, let's gooooo. But self-control said noooo. Rational mind says... if I sell my HIFIMAN he400i's for even half price, it's basically free. Maybe.
So I'll probably buy these then when I can. Put them in my bookmarks. Edit: Bought them. Got lucky and found them on sale for $50 on Linsoul. These are incredible even with the default pads. So comfortable, sounds so nice when listening to music and playing games. May remove the thick inner pad or buy new pads if I can find some.
I picked up the Fidelio X3's for $135 last year. So these are outperforming those? These broke you and going broke watching your vids! Wouldn't change a thing. Still love you! :)
Dear Z, Just a Thank You, I now have a fully modded pair of Ghost. ( Meze pads and 1.5 m 7N Copper XLR cable ). They just make everything sound perfect, for 1/3 of $800. Best, D.
Hey Z. I never buy any audio equipment cheap or expensive without doing an unreasonable and unhealthy amount of due diligence. Except for these. They are inexpensive enough that even if they end up a disappointment, I won't hold a grudge against you for more than a month or two. UPDATE: I've had these cans for a week now. Without a question they are a superb value. They punch way above their weight. They are a music listerner's headphone. Beautiful, big, clear. But they aren't reference or "hi-fi". They sound better to me that my Elegia, the Sennheiser 650x and the Audeeze planar magnetic. But again better in the enjoyable sense. Those cans I mention are much better if you're looking for "true to the source", "clinical" studio monitor (they are also 5X+ more expensive). TL;DR: well worth the impulse-purchase price.
Am I going to notice a huge difference, in gaming and music, coming from a Sennheiser 560s? I'm in love with good imaging, sound stage and positioning in gaming. But, I could use a bit more sub-bass.
At first I didn't think I liked the headphones, but then I realized the reason they felt so alien to me is that the headphones had a warmer tone than what I was used to, but once I got settled in, I found that I kept wanting to go back to it despite having a good range of open backs in my collection.
well I hope the Meze pads become available. Maybe some Brainwaves might make them feel better I will have to try. But yet again, you got me to spend more money. I was actually going to buy the Meze 109's for myself, but I feel like you sold these to me and the price was way too damn good to not try them. I have high hopes
@@Deleteyourself83 I have the brainwavz velour pads, they are memory foam and changed the sound signature to being very dark. Currently I have the perforated sheepskins from Dakoni that I bought for my DT880s on them and they give it a very unique sound that I have been enjoying. I couldn't find a brainwavz that wasn't memory foam. They are crazy comfy though. Just don't enjoy the darker sound.
I still think Zeos' has a hierarchy - electronics rarely get the hands waving regardless of the sonics, headphones still get him amped but nowhere near as much as the early days but speakers really get the kid running around his candy store. I miss the DiY adventures and the promise of more HT, but having a room constantly filled with items awaiting review means we can look forward to a lot more hand waving.
I bought my Audio Technica MTH-40X from one of your videos several years ago. They just hit the floor today and broke the ear pad off... So first thing I do is check in to see if you have anything new to recommend. Thanks for the reviews, I'll be ordering these today.
OK the Ghost headphones have been delivered. Well so far, I'm not all that impressed. I am still waiting on the Meze pads but I changed the stock pads for some cloth ones that are way better than stock but still, meh? The low end is where the disappointment for me comes from. I have ran a few test tones and it seems they roll off pretty hard after 30hz and down. I have a Minidsp EARS measuring kit if I really wanted to get technical but I think I might just do that in a few weeks after these have broken in and when the Meze pads arrive. But man, I'm a little deflated after this hyper review. Do the Meze pads really make that much of a difference?
@@7in1 Haven't used them since my last comment. Waste of money. I got the Meze pads the end - same story. I'll just say it how it is. I'm used to LCD-2, Sundara, Edition XS etc. Even for the money, gaming headphones like the Kingston Hyperx Cloud Alpha sound on par or better than the Ghost. Better to look at Sivga for bang-for-buck or Blon.
@@7in1 I bought the SV004. Incredible value. Mostly for gaming but replaced the pads with some Aliexpress cloth ones (denim looking material). Bass is excellent with them new pads 😊
You have remarkable taste. Could you please recommend some other anime shows? I've seen some of the mainstays but get overwhelmed with the sheer volume of shows. Thanks for the girls on tour recommendation!
happy to use your link Z and send some commision your way. I have a lot of cans that you have recommended and have never been disappointed. Do you have my ears? ordered within 30 seconds...
can confirm high quality of Ghost. Good tonality, solid technicalities, great soundstage. An engaging and exciting set of cans. All for £110 and straight out of the box with supplied pads...now where are my 1540 pads...nice one Zeos
What a fuck Zeos!I sold my 109pro because i saving for a zmf and the t60 argons here which i fucking like! But i also fucking loved that meze!So i wanna be a Ghost after this!
@@ZReviews I did, cause i miss so much that 109's sound!!!!I lost 161 (with shipping) and i have to pay some tax when its arrives but i dont give a shit! And thank you
OK, so I don’t have 3 knuckle ears, and Meze 109 pads (if they ever become available) will surely cost more than the Ghosts. So what about just cutting out the mesh in the stock pads?
@@ZReviews Generally speaking, the larger the ear opening (width and height), the larger soundstage... as long as the driver can properly fill the space.
I still to this moment love the B50.. I have had them on several others peoples heads.. I'd say its 70/30.. 30% just find something off.. I guess I gave it leeway because of the price.. But I am not everyone.. And they are not me. I am hoping a few reviewers step up and confirm what I am hearing here.
I thought maybe I feel silly about buying 109's over Ghost's, but I don't. Yes, the improvement I got for the price is likely not worth it compared to the Ghost's, but no expensive gear is. It's like he says in the video, If I bought the Ghost's I would still strive for 109's because they are the endgame for an amateur audio lover like me.
I am so conflicted now. I was going to take my tax return and plop my money down on a Meze 109 since it checks off all 4 of my wants -- audio, tech, wood, and aesthetics. Now I may get the Ghosts for my audio and tech, but what am I going too get for my wooden and aesthetic needs???
I own around 25 pairs of headphones ranging from the Philips X2HR to the Klipsch HP-3 and Audeze LCD-X. I have a range of experience with "mid-tier" headphones. I will compare these with similarly priced, dynamic drivers headphones. Zeos reviews got me curious about these light-weight cans and his hype was, indeed, over done. He compared these to the near $1000 USD Meze 109 Pros: that was unwarranted. Now, that does NOT mean that there aren't worth your time, though most "audiophiles" should keep looking for something more in-line with real expectations . There is no diamond in the rough or blazing trail of light. You aren't getting top tier quality for pennies on the dollar.
I live in sweden and I like your reviews a lot, so much that I ordered the pads from an American site for 120 euro in total 😢😢 and the headphones as well, they are not available in Sweden..
Z, Dekoni website shows only the Elite Sheepskin. Would that be a good match for the Ghost? Are the 99 Classic and 109pro interchangeable with pads? A RU-vid "filthy casual", Best, D.
Ok so super stupid question probably. Off of Z’s recommendation I have the monoprice modern retro(which for 40$ are awesome) and I have the kph40’s. I can only assume the Ghosts are a night and day difference. And will take me to a whole different level. Yes??
My Takstar 82 pros just carked it so this review was perfect timing 👌, just ordered them using your link. Would these be a decent upgrade from the takstars?
@@ZReviews Yep super comfy. I actually had the takstar hi 2050s before the 82s, and I thought the 2050s were a little bit comfier actually, the ghosts have a similar shape and style to them so I'm hoping they have similar comfort levels :)
I'm in the same boat. None of the other headphones i've tried have dethroned my 15 year old HD600's though. My HD800s is gathering dust. Yet, i'm still going to try these. Help.
@@xavianboone6839 My Ghost are almost here. Got some balanced cables from HART for it. Nah, i've had more expensive headphones like the mentioned HD800s, and cheaper since the HD600, but nothing has come close yet. I was honestly looking for something with more bass / fun.... so the ghost is probably not the best choice. The reviews are all over the place. From boring stale neutral to better bass and treble than hd600. Dunno what to believe. I'll find out soon.
BROOOOOOO😭WHY Just almost saved enough for meze after your recommendation and then I see this😭 No I don feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel like getting it😭 Might go for the focals now😓
I live in Germany and unfortunately (as almost) I‘ve to wait probably a year or so before I can catch them 😢 WTF, like a Ghost 😂😂😂 Thx Z for the great review…. As always 👊🏻
