Wow, I've been watching RU-vid videos about farms(much smaller than yours), in Oklahoma. I'm Saskatoon born and raised, and had no idea that your farm even existed. I've watched quite a few of your vlogs in the past week and am amazed by your farm, your professionalism, and your vlogging abilities. Goodbye Oklahoma, hello Saskatchewan!👍🇨🇦
I when I was younger we were running around in the back pasture. I had new shoes on. Wasent paying attention n stepped in a fresh pile of doo. Was my mom not happy with me, lol. Hav a good nite🌛
The amount of information that you've learn thus far in your life is impressive. Your mom and dad have been good role models for you and your sister. Wish your family lots of success in the dairy business. As your entire family knows every day is challenging , your families work ethic is admirable!.
Well, I'll be! I've always called that manual thermostat a thermometer! 😀 I can relate to that tire! I have been slowly leaking for awhile now! 😀 Isn't that how kids used to get worms? Back when my mom was young kids would go barefoot on the farm. Mainly because they were poor. It caused them to catch worms.
Jan do do you have a video of your chute system and sweep tub working, would love to see that. I really enjoy your videos and watching the way y’all do things. It looks like y’all have a top of the line set up. All dairy farmers work hard and long hours for and deserve every penny they make. I try and watch all your videos. Thanks from Tennessee
Jan, you're sure a hard worker . Your dad and mom is sure lucky to have you and your sister. Your whole family is a hard worker. And your farm is so nice and neat. I love watching your videos. I like when you take your drone and fly over your farm, it's beautiful. One question though Jan, do you ever get to go out with your friends you and your sisters?
I would think (keep in mind I'm a CITY PERSON) that 5 C (41 F) would be comfortable for the ladies, especially if they still have their winter coats. I would have hated stepping out of my boot into Manure. I appreciate you plugging Timmy's, as I own stock in Restaurant Brands International. Good to see dad in the vlog as well. 🚜 🚜 🚜🐄🐄🐄🐄 🚜 🚜 🚜
Oh the joys of spring mud and slop. Last spring I had the same thing happen to me when I was feeding my heifers. Had to get through knee deep mud and manure to get to the bunks. It thawed so quickly down here in Kansas that we couldn't move the bunks onto concrete in time. Greetings from a fellow dairyman
Double Double? That's not an In-N-Out cup. What'd they copy the DD? And dang I can see you in your dad's laugh Jan. Happy Resurrection day to you all!! He's coming back soon!
Jan, the tire pressure will get lower if it gets colder over night. You might try the other tires and compare them to what they were the last time you checked them. The drone footage was really cool. Sock foot in cow crap sounds not at all fun. Great video. Thanks and see you on the next one.
As you were going thru the close up corral I was thinking “watch out Jan that manure is going to suck your boot right off”...two minutes later you are telling that exact story. Yes, it sure does happen fast and totally pisses you off😝😝
Jan says....Oh it's warm, it zero degrees and he has a t-shirt on. I'm sitting in Australia and it's 14 degrees and I have the fire on and rugged up with a beanie. I think I am a bit of a sook!
Dang Jan, i’m dying laughing. I have stepped in crap with bare feet as a kid. You and your dear dad crack me up. Love the banter between you! Love from MI
Years ago when I worked on a dairy we always cleaned off the tractors and loaders cause you never knew what you were gonna do next keep it clean and equipment last longer.
Tireject tire sealant will fix your problem I've been using it for years on all our equipment it's amazing the holes this stuff will sealing in old cracked tires
When I was a kid I had an incident like that with a wet gap which had a yellow clay/glarr in it. My dad sent me in to drive out some cattle that shouldn't have been there, so I came through the gap, first step lost my welly, second lost my other welly, next step lost my sock, then my other one. My dad just stood laughing at me and I couldn't get the welly boots out for love nor money! They were proper stuck. Actually thinking about it, they might be still there!
Jan try using Tire ject. Its not cheap. But will save you so much money in tires. And the best part. After you put it in the tire. It stays good. It does not go bad. So if you put it in a tire and don't puncture it for 5 years. It'll still seal. Seriously check them out.
Very good job Jan. Just started watching your videos, you have an amazing facility and I can tell you guys really love what you do. I grew up on a dairy before switching to beef cattle and your milking barn is a little bit nicer than what we grew up with.
My mother grew up on a dairy farm in the 20s and 30s, When they were out in the pasture barefoot in cold weather a warm fresh cow pie was a foot warming respite.
Don’t ever plan to have anything to do on your long weekends it never happens pens that way always something comes up or happens. Happy Easter to you all . Here we our in spring mold nasty weather some farmers did get out in fields to till and disc plus put fertilizer or lime on fields. Getting ready to plant in fields if the weather cooperate . My neighbor milks over 600 head of cows got 40 heads of cow’s going to have calves maybe milking will be quick this month . They sale the bull calves and save the females to raise for breeding and milking. Always get extra fuel line’s and hoses and blades oil filter’s , and tire kits . But manure helps your feet if you have soar feet or cuts it burns and heals them up. Especially if you have poison ivy it kills the itching .
You must be pleased that I enjoyed watching your video? Sorry that you had to get maintenance done on a bank holiday, and pay more for it. Hopefully you'll have an influx of people wanting to buy your merch to get some of the money back. 🙂🐄📸📽🥂🇦🇺🇨🇦
The suction that held your boot in the muck can happen with vehicles and equipment also. When I've winched out 4X4's, construction equipment, etc. out of the muck I pull on them, then stop. Then when the leaf springs on the truck release I know the suction has released the vehicle. Then I winch it the rest of the way out.
Happy Easter! I was wondering- the milked cows get their feet put in a foot bath in the barn what do you do for the cows out in the corrals? Do their feet go bad from standing in the muck so long?
Alberta hog farmers things seem to break on saturday around noon. Agri stores or equipment dealers close at 1pm, always have to wait till monday to get parts.but our computers in the hog barns also like weekend breakdowns even have 2 extra panels and still not enough. 1 missed day could turn into a weeks back log in inputs
Hi there doing tire business for over 35 years i would take a wrench and put it on the valve stem nut by the wheel turn it a few times the rubber will some time get smaller in the cold weather later
As a kid I was hand milking Old Bess. She lost it in the stall and tried to kick me through the field goal of life. I land in the manure gutter which was fresh. I was soaked head to toe. I headed to the house. Mom was washing dishes and saw me coming. I had to strip and get hosed down in the yard. 2 lessons-- be gentle and clean the gutter before milking... It took a couple days and lots of perfume and tomato juice to smell normal..
The tire on the tanker may hold air better when you get to using it. Sometimes the flexing of the sidewalls is what they need rather than sitting in one place. Or it may not LOL
Sitting down here in New Zealand as a dairy farmer, looking at your set up, has me well pleased I don't farm in Canada! We dont do snow, we dont house our animals like you, we dont have to use machinery every day to feed our stock. I guess being closer to the equator has its advantages! We do have earthquakes tho!! Great vids. Cheers.
Have done the same thing lost a boot in cow crap. What sucks is you have to make a choice. Walk through the cow manure with one boot on or put your mucky foot in a clean boot
Another nice video young man doing a good job you in your dad from all you guys do it you make me tired just watching you all right I have a blessed day catch on the next one
Interesting thermometer, have not seen one with such negative values before, at most you may get one here with a couple of markings below 0°C which are not needed.
Lost my boot last spring in the corral in the manure and spring runoff while trying to cut off a young calf from getting past me, it's a helpless feeling. A while back my daughter stepped into her rubber boots while they were on the deck, and there was a mouse in the toe area. Yes she screamed, and the boot went flying....we blamed it on the cat that used to bring us mice to show off how sucha good Mouser she was.
omg same thing i had a friend over a.......boooom we where runing in the mud and my dumlops where stuck in there deep so i had to sit on the ground till they got it out and it took a long time cuz it was almost at the top, we happens to the best of us
I dont think he has ever said what happens to the heffers who have reached their end of peak milk production years. I think we can all assume what happens tho.
